Boot Camp not playing along

Hello,
Im trying to get windows 7 ultimate x64 on my macbook pro. However every time I try and use Boot Camp Assistance it keeps saying;
Boot Camp Assistant cannot be used.
you must update your system software before using this setup assistance.
I have obviously ran the updater multiple times and keeps saying theres no more updates. Restarted many times.
Any suggestions?

1. Open Disk Utility (Utility folder) and run Repair Permissions
2. the error message is never helpful or is there something "out of date" or that needs updating.
3. try repairing your system drive with Disk Utility from your OS X DVD

Blue tooth on win 7 boot camp not working.

I'm running Win 7 ultimate on a mac book pro purchased a couple of months ago.
after many different attempts and rough hours shouting to the heavens the hate i feel for this demonic device i managed to have to running Win.
I can deal with extreme penalties of becoming an apple customer in terms of no HDD common access from both Os`s, keyboard and track pad non responses etc... i can figure out for the life of me why cant i make the blue tooth devices pair !? maybe i got spoiled using a dell notebook for many years and i'm used to things working for the way i want them to and its a different package i should have bought from apple (aside for care and shmare )

When you completely uninstall all video drivers Windows will fall back to a very basic (it's like it's 1995!) video driver. As the thread starter says 800x600 is the resolution.
So this morning I did fully uninstall all drivers and got the 800x600 in the center of the screen and rebooted with the stretched 800x600. Once I logged in Windows did install a driver (ATI Mobility HD 4850 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM1.1)) I forget the version of it though. Anyway it was buggy (I think but it was not band-y ). So I ran the boot camp 3.1 update. When I rebooted everything looked great.
My driver version though 8.641.1.0 (8/24/2009)! So now I'm older then 8.661 BUT no banding and no constant crashing. I did get the split screen issue where the top is on the bottom and the bottom is up top. This was at the login screen though and once I logged in my desk top was ok. My card is also identified as ATI Radeon HD 4850, I thought it was the mobility version though.
And that was not as simple as I wrote.. There were MANY rollbacks and uninstalls and trying to manually pick the driver to install. Even got the black screen at one point and had to boot to command line to delete that ATI file. So maybe set aside an hour or two...
STO played fine as well!
Now to rock the boat and see if Windows wants to update me...

HT1461 Can one use boot camp to play computer games normally only found for PCs?

I have some older computer games, specifically Warhammer 40k rts games, that I woud still like to play and was curious if boot camp would allow me to play those on my mac? Also, if it is possible am I putting my computer at risk in any way? I'd like to play them but not so badly that I would be damaging my mac pro or shortening its lifespan. There dont appear to be any emulators out there currently so I'm checking here to see if anyone knows anything.

Yes. There are several ways to run Windows on the Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
   1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows
         XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. For Boot Camp
         4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
         instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
         installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
         installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the
         computer into OS X or Windows.
     2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
         Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software
         virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently

     3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,

Boot Camp Not Working From Windows Control Panel

Hi,
When I click on the 'Boot Camp' icon in the Windows Control Panel I get the usual warning from UAC. When I select 'Allow' I get an error message along the lines that "I don't have permission to access the startup disk" & the app will not run.
I have tried running it as administrator but the result is the same.
Does anyone know how to rectify this so that I can get this utility working correctly again?

On the disk Management I tried to set the disk with the OSX partition as active and restarted, and ended up having Missing Operating System error.
Fortunately I managed to solve that problem but still I am unable to switch back to Mac.

I want to use Boot Camp to play PC games on my PowerMac G5. Any Advice?

I'm about to install Leopard & use Boot Camp for the first time to make a PC partition which will be used almost exclusively for PC gaming (mostly WWII shooters). I need some advice about how to go about maximizing my gaming experience. First, how big should the partition be? 25GB? 50GB? My home drive has a capacity of about 230 GB. What PC OS should I use? Vista or XP? What kind of video card should I have?
I've got a Power Mac G5 with 2 x 3 Ghz quad core Intel Xeon, 4GB 667 Mhz DDR2 F8-DIMM and a ATY Radeon X1900 XT 512MB video card.

You mentioned that you will use your computer exclusively for Windows gaming and therefor I would recommend a partition at least to be at 70GB and 100GB if you can afford the space. Depending on the amount of games and disk space they use, you will need make your call.
What PC OS should I use? Vista or XP?
I am assuming that you would to use ALL of your 4GB Ram. If you use XP then you will only be able to use 2GB - 3GB RAM. You will need Windows Vista 64BIT Home Premium installed on your Mac Pro to take advantage of all 4GB.
What kind of video card should I have?
You already have the ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB Video Card installed and that should work well.

Are you sure you have a Power Mac G5 as you wrote in your post? I think you meant *Mac Pro*. At least I hope that is what you meant since if you meant the former then Windows will not run on your G5.

Option Key for Boot Camp not working with New iMac Keyboard

Hi, I own a early 2006 Intel iMac. Recently, my wife complained that the keyboard was getting dirty. Basically I think she liked the new keyboard on the new Aluminum iMac better. We purchased it back in August and everything worked great. Oh I also had the beta version of Boot Camp installed. Everything worked great, hold Option down on boot and could choose which OS to go into.
Fast forward to now, purchased Leopard and love it! Decided to wipe the system and do a fresh install. Everything is installed (Leopard, Boot Camp, Windows XP) and working great, that is except when I press and hold the Option key at start up. If I have the new keyboard installed, the Option key does not bring up the boot manager. However if I plug the original keyboard in and hold Option, it works!!!
Ok I could see a problem if the new keyboard was NOT an Apple product. But it is and frustraiting as I can use the control panel to choose. This is a long round about method and does not make a happy wife with me. HELP!

Thanks for the info! I was about to call myself and I may still do so. I am hoping if Apple gets enough of these calls then maybe it will spur them on to get it done sooner. (Apple are you listening) I will do the same with the KB swapping, she will be happy at least she can still use the new keyboard. She types a lot and has be really happy with the new keyboard and its response.

Boot camp not recognize keyboard and mouse when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit

Hi,
I have some issue when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit using boot camp. after done partitioning the windows drive and when boot to windows installation process, i've got stuck in the first screen when choosing the language. it seems that the keyboard and mouse are not detected.
i'm using boot camp ver. 5.0.
does anyone have similar problem with me?

I have finally successfully installed Windows 7 x64 on MacBook Air 13.3" (2013) thru Bootcamp.
Problem: After Windows 7 install thru BootCamp, I got to the first login screen and not input devices (Mouse, keyboard, USB) worked. I tried to boot into Windows Safemode, but I received the error "Windows can not complete installation in Safe Mode".
Cause: WIndows 7 does not have native USB 3.0 drivers, included on the install images.
Resolution: I downloaded the latest device drivers with thru BootCamp and copied them to the USB Flash Drive that had my bootable Windows 7 x64 install on it. The second option in BootCamp is "Download Support Media". This does more than just download drivers. It creates a file called "autoattended.xml". This is key as it tells Windows during the install process to use the device drivers that you download. Otherwise, you need to do it manually, which you can't because you have no mouse or keyboard.
NOTE: I had no need of a super drive because I had all the files on one USB flash drive. Therefore, I don't think it matter which side of the MBA the USB drive was plugged in, as other solutions suggested.

Boot Camp not able to download Windows 7 Install Disk

I am trying to install Windows 8 on my 2011 Mac Mini. I have a Windows 8 disk, 8GB bootable USB drive, and am trying to download from Boot Camp: 1) a Windows 7 install disk, 2) latest Windows support from Apple, all to install 3) the Windows 8 OS on my yet to be partitioned hard drive.
It goes about about 20% into the process and stops with this error message: " Your bootable USB drive could not be created".
What am I doing wrong or missing?

Boot Camp not able to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit!!???

Guys I'm using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 & I'm having a problem installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit through boot camp. When I insert the windows installation disc it creates the partition but as soon as it restarts to proceed the installation, it hangs up there saying 'No Bootable Device. Please Insert Installation Disc and press any key to continue'. But when i was previously using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I installed Windows 7 using the same disc and it proceeded without any issues. Can any body give me a solution to it please because I want Windows 7 in boot camp and I do not want to use it in any virtual machine like parallels desktop!!! I AM USING iMAC 2010 so its quite new!!!!!!

I am having the same problem. I have a very recent 27" iMac 3.4g i7 and I am trying to install Windows 7 64bit upgrade.Also running OSX 10.7.2. It also stalls out after expending files reporting that there are missing files with a error code 0x80070057. I was trying to install a fresh complete version but had bought the upgrade.. I had vista on another machine but had taken it off and was going to use the key for the upgrade. No windows had as of yet been installed. I later tried to install Vista as a way to upgrade to Win7,which went ok, but when I tried to upgrade to Win 7 64bit, I couldn't. I have tried this multiple times without success and have removed the boot camp partition after each failed attempt... Any Suggestions?? Thanks in advance

Boot Camp not installing Windows 7 - "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key."

I need some help with something. A while back, I put a brand new hard drive in my MacBook, a 500 GB model to replace the 120 GB one. I cloned everything successfully to the new drive via Carbon Copy Cloner, but now I want to make a Boot Camp partition on the drive. The SuperDrive in it is defective, so I use an external FireWire drive. So far the Boot Camp Assistant in 10.7 Lion works fine in creating the partition, but when it gets to the part where it tries to boot into the Windows installation disk (32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, or could the 64-bit work fine as well?), it shows a black scree nwith "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key." I try pressing keys, but nothing happens.
I also tried using rEFIt, but that didn't work out either.
Here are the specifications of my machine...
MacBook (Early 2009 model)
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4 GB of RAM
500 GB SATA hard drive
Dual-layer SuperDrive (defective, may replace it once I have the cash)
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chip
Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion
Can anyone help me out with this? Is there some sort of workaround?

Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. Don't know if you googled as I suggested but you would find hundreds of others who have found same thing. The exception is MacBook Air which works with the Apple writer, but I don't know much about this.
Were you doing any of the special workarounds with refedit etc?

Boot Camp not recognizing disc

Alright, so it seems as though I have had problem after problem trying to setup my Windows 7 boot camp. Normally I don't actually create new posts but with this issue I have not been able to find any solid answer yet.
I have tried multiple times to burn my Windows 7 iso file. Each time I attempt to burn it on my Macbook, it says the burn was successful but then after putting the disc back in- it says it is blank. The discs I am attempting to use are CD-R. And yes- for every burn I have been doing, I have verified the disk. Each time it comes out successful- but nothing appears to be on the disc when I insert them into my MBP.
So I thought maybe it was the disk type so I searched my room to find a blank DVD-RW. Whenever I try to put it into my MBP- it idles with it and then spits it out. No errors or anything. So after all that I did more research and kept finding that maybe it was my disk drive. So I grabbed my Mother's laptop and attempted to burn the Windows 7 iso on her laptop. It completed successfully and when inserting the disk back into the laptop (my Mothers laptop) the files appear to be on the disc. So naturally I put the freshly burnt disk into my MBP and it appeared to be blank?
Out of curiosity I put all the disks that I attempted to burn inside my mothers laptop and each one had the boot files and everything all burnt on- so I am kind of at a stand still.
I am quickly running out of ideas to try with this. It seems that I am not able to use the iso file by itself in boot camp so does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
And the reason I am having a hard time beleving that it is the disc drive- is that if I put in a CD with music on it, or put in a movie- it runs perfectly?

Well I normally hate it when I search a problem and find someone who has the same exact problem- but they never posted an answer.
The solution to my problem was simple- it was the software I was using to burn my iso. I ended up using Roxio Toast Titanium to burn the iso and it worked like a charm.

Boot Camp not working with Windows 7!

I have a 2011 MBP which has Boot Camp installed w/ Windows 7. I recently had to reinstall Boot Camp after a bad experience with Windows 8, and I've started Windows 7 fresh. I used it 5 or 6 times, but now when I go to use Windows 7 all I get is a black screen. HOWEVER, if I boot up in Windows Safe Mode, it works fine. Something tells me the Graphics Driver is playing up, but what do I do??

start over with a removal of Windows and the partition it is on, using the Boot Camp Assistant program again, and then Reinstall Windows by using the BCA program.
Mkae sure you have the latest Windows drivers from Apple by running the Apple Updater found in the start menu of Windows after it is reinstalled.
you may also be able to do that while booted into Safe Mode and solve your problem. You might want to try that first before you remove and reinstall Windows.

Boot camp not working

Permissions disk checked - done! - didn't help
Disk check - done! - didn't help
PRAM reset - done! - didn't help
Disk journaling - confirmed!
Software update (from Apple menu or from System Preferences) - done! - didn't help
Combo update (10.6.6) - done! - didn't help
Everything what I have tried before was just wasting my time. And I have check your solution as well. Unfortunately with same result - Boot Camp Assistant is not working.
In this case my workaround is only way to install Win7, Vista or Linuks on different partition. Not sure about WinXP, need to be checked.
What's interesting, I contacted the Apple Care, and after lots emails and phones they got only one solution - send me new OS X SL installation disk.

Boot Camp not installed after transfer from PB G4

I just bought a MacBook (Black, 160 G HD, 2G RAM). When starting the new MacBook, I transferred my files from my old PB G4 to my new MacBook. All my files were transferred without any problem. But Boot Camp Assistant is no where to be found on the new MacBook. Search with Spotlight does not find Boot Camp. Any suggestions??

I realized that Bluetooth was not installed either. There might also have been other missing software that I did not notice.
I did an "Archive and Install" from the original Installation DVD, and everything seems to be installed and working well.

Windows 8.1 wireless network on boot camp not working

I just completed Windows 8.1 installation with USB fixes on a new MB Air. I cannot get the wireless in Windows to recognize any wireless networks. I have Mavericks which may be the problem.

With respect to your question "When will Windows 8.1 be supported on Boot camp 5?" you are asking us to speculate as to when Apple will release their drivers supporting Windows 8.1. We do not know, and we can not speculate as to when. From the terms of use of this forum:
"Unless otherwise noted, do not add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:
Speculations or rumors about unannounced products."
The planned dates of production or release of Windows 8.1 drivers are speculation about the drivers.
With respect to your other question, "Do I return the Windows version and try to download 8.0, or wait it out until it is supported? New to Mac's.". I answered you.
