Boot Camp: Pro's and Con's? need some advice here

hey guys,
so im basicly quite newbish so ill try to keep things basic here and i advise you guys to do the same ;p
i have a few questions about the usage of bootcamp and ofcourse running windows with it.
i have wanted to buy office mac for a long time because i simply need the applications for my collage.
ive been thinking, because im kindoff a recriational gamer aswell and i just have a few somewhat classic windows games that id just like to play on the mac.
so prehaps it would be a wiser thing for me to just ignore the mac office package and just run xp or vista on bootcamp, it gives me the same applications and more. and ofcourse the possiblilty to run windows based games wich i kinda need aswell.
im just interested about hearing some pros and cons of the use of bootcamp and installing windows on my mac, will it increase the danger of attracting harmfull virusses, will it be heavy on my system memory? does it encouter errors alot? does it corrospond well with the existing hardware/software, will my system become somewhat instable? etc...
kindoff the basic pros and cons.
all of your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance,
greetings,
manuel

Manuel:
I am going to answer your question however please note that my answer is based on my experience and my experience only.
CONS
Takes up a portion of your primary HD of your laptop.
Requires a complete shutdown of OSx to get to Windows and vice versa.
Single tapping and double clicking does not work when using a trackpad on a laptop in Windows.
May have issues with running some windows based games.
Will attract viruses if user is not careful on the internet and opening attachments from unknown senders (I have never had a issue with this).
PROS
Runs windows natively and at near native speeds.
Has a wide range of Anti-Virus programs that do the job to keep viruses at bay.
Ability to run Windows based software just like one would on a windows PC.
With a 2GB system RAM, XP flies and Vista runs smoothly too.
Ability to boot back into OSx when needed or vice versa.
In short, boot camp has been a very pleasant experience for me. I use Windows daily as I need it for the type of work I am in and it has not let me down when running on a Boot Camp partition on an Intel Mac.

  • Combined bar and line graph: need some advice

    Hi,
I'm builing a small app for a customer. The basic functionality is showing the bar chart and the line (see the figure attached), and now I want to show
the area above the line in another color. This is the cost saving for the customer. Can I do this? And how would you suggest me to achieve this!
Can I also show the big dot as seen in the figure?
    Thanks!

Although I believe that graph would be possible by banging on the graphs hard enough, but it would pretty easy to render that image using a picture control since rectangles, lines, text, and circles are supported.
The link I included above will take you to a thread devoted to Picture related threads.

  • Need some Advice here :)

I'm looking forward to buy my first macbook around may -june this year for college.
Since  apple gonna release new macbook in the upcoming june , is it best to wait and buy the 2013 version macbook
or just buy the 2012 version macbook and upgrade it yourself? Thx

As Apple has not made a MacBook for a few years now, I'm guessing you are referring to either a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro.  Regardless, the answer would be the same.  When buying a laptop, you need to make sure it meets your needs for the amount of time you expect to own it.  If a current version will do what you need, if a newer model is released, that won't make the one you purchased any less useful.  Having said that, of course it can always be a little disappointing if you purchase something and then a new model comes out shortly thereafter.  There is no guarantee that any particular model will be getting an update.  Anything you may hear is purely speculation at this time.  If you can wait, there's no harm in doing so.  If a new model is released, then you can get that.  If a new model isn't released, then you can just go ahead and purchase an existing model.  At this point, we have no idea if there will be an update or what revisions might be made if there are.
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking in the second part of your question.  Currently, for MacBook Pros, you can upgrade the RAM and hard drive (or SSD) yourself if you choose.  With the MacBook Air you are generally limited.  You cannot upgrade the RAM.  There are after market SSDs available for the Airs as well, but Apple does not offer any sort of upgrade to the specs the machine ships with.  So, if the only upgrades Apple were to make were to the items I mentioned, then you would be able to upgrade a 2012 machine to match or exceed those updates.  Their refresh updates are generally more significant than that however.  You would not be able to upgrade the CPU or graphics processor on a 2012 machine to match any changes.

  • What are the pro's and con's of the 4s?

I am not yet an owner of the 4s iphone. So what are the pro's and con's of owning the white 32gb iphone 4s? I have had the white 32 gb iphone 3gs for two years and until I get a job I will not be buying the 4s I so need.

Samplers do alot of things, what do you need a sampler for?
Korgs remind me of alot of presets and alot of verb and chorus. I guess if you're posting here you already have EXS and want more sounds or more functionality and if the korg thing is true you lean more to sampling/synthesis than instrument recreation (as in you probably aren't going for VSL if the korg caught your ear). Independence looks really cool, it's quite new. Kontakt is demanding and very flexible, both include huge libraries and I know kontakt has tons of great filters, FX, modulation. It also needs a pretty strong update-which is being dealt with after a year or so.

  • Pro's and Con's

    Hey Guru's
My client has made a request to have the functionality in the portal to launch the SAP GUI from the portal. Just to be clear they are not wanting transaction IView 's just a link that will start the SAP GUI and has SSO. I'm looking for a the pro's and con's of doing this in the portal. And also any config notes you may have.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, you can package them together.
Now Cisco has a better way. Cisco UCS Manager provides two main advantages over past firmware provisioning:
    • The capability to group multiple firmware components together in one package
    • The capability to apply a firmware package to any compatible server in a single operation
Cisco  UCS Manager provides an accurate, easier, faster, more flexible, and  centralized solution for managing firmware across the entire hardware  stack. Service profiles in Cisco UCS Manager abstract the physical  hardware from its software properties. Service profiles allow  administrators to associate any compatible firmware with any component  of the hardware stack. Simply download the firmware versions needed from  Cisco and then, within minutes, totally provision firmware on  components within the server, fabric interconnect, and fabric extender  based on required network, server, and storage policies per application  and operating system.

You can unload a lot of work on the technical consultant / developer and let him join the logical dots of what you're trying to design, and you get paid 50% more on top, now how's that?

  • Pro's and Con's for Auto activation of ID Objects

    Hi
Can anyone provide me the Pro's and Con's of having Auto activation enabled for ID Objects.
    Regards
    Osman Abdul Aziz Jabri

    Hi Osman,
The Pros of Auto activation is all objects which do not need any manual configuration will activated. But the problem is in one transport (and in one tpz) you might have some object which needs manual configuration before activation and in this case the auto activation is failed.
So i would suggest not to use auto activation feature for ID. Please refer the below SAP Note
1805662 - PI Communication Channel CTS+ transport error: Enter a value for attribute

  • Pro's and Con's to using Copies of Standard Material Types

    Hi
We are looking for the pro's and con's of using copies of standard SAP material types for my company.  We are a consumer goods company and looking to see if there are drawbacks and benefits when it comes time to upgrade SAP.  Also what industry standards are out there for when we change / add views to standard SAP material types.
    Regards,
    Josh

there are no real pros and cons - just philosophy
We're using the SAP given material types, even adjusted to our needs, already for many years from 3.1 to 6.3 release and had never any issue with hotpackages or ith release changes.
We are using as well many own material types created by copy of SAP material types.
the only issues I know are, that the users need some time to understand which type to use if the description appears twice.
(Remember, it is a personal setting if keys are shown in dropdown lists, and I know many user who do not display the keys)

  • Asynchronous Processing of Workflow in Final Step Pro's and Cons?

    Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has experience with "Asynchronous Processing of Workflow in Final Step".
in our workflow process we have decided to use Decision type 4:  item based desicion for partial document.
currently we are working on SRM Server 731 and I cannot find this in customization. I suspect I need to enable business function : SRM_APF_IMPR_1.
    can any body confirm this?
But does anybody have some experience using this functionality, and provide some experience in the Pro's and Con's.
on the link i found on SAP website limited information is available: :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm701/helpdata/en/c9/e6c2d976564cfe83ba850890d6f946/frameset.htm
Hope anybody can provide some insight.
    thanks Sing

    Hi Sing,
SAP says, that asynchronous processing should be faster for the large shopping carts (Last approver should not wait to long). But actually I have not determined big difference.
If you activate this switch - do not fordet to activate following entry in SWE2.

  • Pro's and Con's of having Single SAP BI System to multiple BI system

    Hi Gurus,
We are presently in One SAP ECC and One SAP BI landscape for two of our customers belonging to Same Parent Group.
Now we are implementing SAP for 4 more customers belonging to Same parent group in different SAP ECC system.
As part of BI solution, these 4 customers chosen the SAP BW as OLAP system, Now can some one explain the pro's and con's of having multiple SAP BI systems to one SAP BI system for all customers.
Main issue will be the Master data management from all the 6 customers where there are chances that either one or two customers might have same GL account codes or Vendor Keys or Cost centers, which may effect dataloads for their respective Master Data (Attributes, texts & hierarchies) infoobjects.
If we chose multiple SAP BI systems,is there any product with in Netweaver where we can derive KPI's from each SAP BI system separately and consolidate into one reporting Dashboard's or Scorecards. We may expect some further calculations and formulas in the KPI's from two different SAP BI systems.
Can some one help us in providing some inputs to the above scenario?
    Thanks & best regards,
    Sudhakar.K

    Suhakar,
I am not an expert in WAD and Visual Composer, so I will withhold comment.  Your organization may have requirements which push to BO regardless of your underlying BI implementation.
Yes, the display of text/key can be a small sticking point.  Currently I am working with an SRM reporting scenario where we have objects such as Vendor from many different ECC systems, and the key is compounded with 0LOGSYS.  This makes the key display as ZSRCSYSKEY/ZVENDORKEY.  One workaround, is to put 0LOGSYS on the row of the report, and hide the attribute, as from the user's point of view, they do not care to see which source system the Vendor comes from.
There would be nothing to prevent you from spawning off separate copies of the BEx query for each source system/group of users, if they have requirements for a slightly different display of data.  But the point is, you can still get a consolidated view of your key figures across all business units if it is modelled into one system, regardless of which UI is used.
I think regardless of the path you take, there will always be challenges.  I always prefer to address the challenges via modeling, rather than at the UI layer.
Now however, if you already had separate BW systems in place for each regional business unit, putting a new dashboard tool to pull the data together might be a simpler solution.

I need some advice about the macbook pro and iPhone 5.
I took a video on my iPhone and tried to email it it said it was too big to send? So i downloaded it to my macbook pro and tried to mail it to no avail? The macbook tells me the server won't let it through other mail goes through any ideas how to resize it or what it might take to send it?

I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

  • Fabricpath or OTV in DCI (Pro's and Con's)

    Hi to All,
    We are in the process of migrating our current DC and DR from 6500 Series and FWSM to N7K, 5K and 2K with ASA 5585 also. We have two existing data center connecting via redundant dark fiber. In our new design with Nexus 7K, 5K and 2K with ASA 5585 there are two N7K in Main DC with two VDC's one for the Access on the user side and one for the Server side an aggregation switch will be use (5K) and extender (2K) for the server side. The two Data Center are both identical. Currently we are deciding which technology we will use inside the two DC and the DCI as well. If you can provide me the pro's and con is using the following technology below I would really appreciate;
    1. VPC in both DC and DR while the DCI will be (OTV).
    2. VPC+ in both DC and DR while the DCI will be (OTV).
    3. VPC in both DC and DR while the DCI will be (Fabricpath)
    4. VPC+ in both DC and DR while the DCI will be (Fabricpath)
Also if you can enlighten me about the FHRP caveats with all these technologies. Thank you in advance...
Note: Please see the drawing for your reference also...
