Boot Camp problem ( or soo I think)

Here's the deal.
My Boss ask to install Windows 7 64x Professional on his IMac 27'' later 2013. I read a little bit in some articles and figure out that the best ideia is to use the boot camp assistent.
This was my first time using, did every step slowly and see many video tutorial. When every thing was set up, the boot camp partition was ready, the usb stick was ready, I run the windows stick usb, came first in the language menu, setup that, and after appear this screen
I tried to rescan and don't find none.
So I browse the wininstall files and find the " drive " but it won't accept.
and now I'm here, thinking with my self if this is a problem with boot camp or with me ^^''.
For more detail I'm using a kingston USB model DTSE9 16GB.
And boot camp version is 5.1.5640

It was indeed the S.O but occurred another problem, I can't seem continue after format the boot camp partition on the windows install setup.
I read a little bit about this and found it's because the 3TB HDD can't make the GPT partition, soo I'tried make a MBR but I can't resize the partition because of the fusion drive.
Any suggestion ?
I look a post talk about use a image generated by winclone. Would be a problem if I use a Mac Book Pro to make the windows partition boot camp and clone in the other IMac with the winclone, or Am I talking nonsense ^^''.

First, the Boot Camp problem
I don't know exactly how to explain, but I kind of made the partition and restored them into one single startup disk, for several times. It was OK for the first few times, but then it required me to run Disk Utility (from startup) to repair the disk before I can partition. It happened for one time. But after that, it started to ask me to back up the hard disk, format it, and restore it, then try Boot Camp again. So, the ending of the story is I can never do boot camp again now because I wouldn't waste at least 70 quid for a hard disk large enough to back up solely because I need to run Boot Camp. Is there anybody here know why this is happening? And, eventually I think I'd have to buy an external drive and back up, format, restore, then run Boot Camp. But doesn't it sound dumb and familiar? This is exactly the ONE AND ONLY way to fix any problems in a PC. Aren't macs supposed to be far better than PCs? Why do we have to do what PC users have to painfully do? I hope somebody here can come up with a solution that doesn't involve "backup>format>restore".
Second, the partitioning,
I came up with an idea to solve the above problem. But I don't know whether it actually works, so I'm seeking for advice. I was hoping if I run Disk Utility from start up, make two partitions (or more) for the mac HD, one HD being the one holding all the data, and the remaining being empty. Then I can format the empty one (which seems rather redundant), and do the Boot Camp thing on this partition. However, there are two points I have doubts with. One, if I split my current single mac HD into multiples of partitions, will any or even all my data be lost? Because I can only specify how much to partition, I wouldn't have the chance to "tell" the computer to keep all existing data on one partition. Two, I know that Boot Camp can run on an external HD, so is it possiible to run on a different partition?

More boot camp problems new 5k imac 3 tera fusion drive

there seems to be problems with Yosemite and boot camp assistant
i'm cross posting this to the iMac forum but I spent hours online with apple tech today and none of the several foks I talked to there had even seen a 5k 27" yet and my call back from Cupertino and engineering is no till tomorrow so I thought I should post here too
MMy bto 5k shipped from China sunday night and arrived in Maine this morning.... Amazing when you think about it for a bto
iinstallation and set up we're going fine and I started up boot camp assistant to create a temp boot camp while I wait for my thunder bay 4 box to take the drives for my old Mac pro when boot camp will have a1 tera SSD all to itself....
so carved off a 700 gig boot camp partition which the assistant formatted fat I then plugged is the lighting to FW adapter in a LaCie 2 tera fw 800 drive to act as a bridge to my LaCie DVD burner which uses the old fw400 cables and inserted my new shrink wrap win 8.1 retail 64 DVD and up comes the win 8 install in very tiny type in a tiny window which got a bit of a laugh out of me.
And I go through it to the point of selecting that boot camp partition and then said it could not use a fat partition and I should reformat it from the win 8.1 installer which I did and then it said it could not use and unknown partition so I said great and booted back to 10-10 and the boot camp tool to put things back and it said it could not I then went to disk tools and it also said the 3tera fusion could not be either reformatted or put back to a single partition I was on with tech support where I went up through 4 levels of support due to the 5k bto which most had no knowledge of. We tried the optioncommand r to get to DT and the same problem as did going to reinstall from the net which after a 30 min down load could not reformat either it is now kicked to Cupertino with a call back tomorrow
( At this point all I want to do is put the computer back in the condition it was in when i started with a plain Yosemite on an unpartitioned 3 tera fusion... Then deal with boot camp when it can have its own drive)
am betting it will take a Unix comand line to reformat but be aware there may be boot camp issues with my configuration
and any help here will be great fully received

Harddrive Failure or Boot Camp Problem?

Is my drive dying or something else?
I have a Mid-2007 Intel iMac running 10.8.4 (and Boot Camp) for some time now with very few problems... until last weekend. So, the Master Boot Record or something failed and my startup screen was gray on startup with the Apple logo and spinning wheel and a status bar with about 10% or less shown and then the screen goes black. I created a USB Mountain Lion disk and managed to boot to that and get my Home folders and applications off the internal HDD to another USB drive and a laptop. Reformatted the Apple partition (Windows partition sill intact) and started clean. Got everything loaded and transferred and then backed up photos again. Ran disk permissions and lots of Canon photo and printer files (newly installed) were out of whack. Repaied permissions. Ran Super Duper to clone the whole new fresh Apple partition. It failed and the machine would not turn off. MBR (or something) fried again. Now backing up files AGAIN from USB version of Mountain Lion.
So, is this boot camp being squirrelly or is the internal HDD ready to die (it is fairly old in HDD years) or is it something else? There have not been any physical sounds coming from the drive.
I was hoping for a quiet iMac upgrade last Tuesday, but that did not happen.

Urgent Boot Camp Problem

On my dad's iMac computer I have downloaded the Windows 7 32 Bit Beta from the Microsoft website and successfully burned it to a disc. I then went to partition his HD which worked fine. After that, I was prompted to insert the install CD (it was the disc that I burned the Windows 7 files to) so I did. Shortly after, the error message: "no device drivers were found, make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and click OK".
Now, I'm puzzled what to do at this part. The guide I'm reading (http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/15/using-boot-camp-to-install-windows-7-on-you r-mac-the-complete-walkthrough/) contains nothing on what to do if this problem comes up, in fact it has no steps, or nothing even regarding this issue.
So, I'm confused, what do I do?
ALRIGHT: Now, apparently when I held down X st startup to boot into Mac, a screen comes up asking me what do I want to boot into, and it only says Windows [EMS Enabled] what's happened?!

Thanks for the quick reply. Now, I wasn't given an option was to where to install it. Here's what happened:
1) I opened Boot Camp, and allocated 32 GB to Windows.
2) My dad's computer partitioned successfully with no problems at all.
3) I was prompted to put the installation disc in so I did, and click Start Install.
4) The computer then restarted, and automatically booted into Windows (it said loading Windows files) and then I was taken to a screen to choose my language and everything.
5) I left the options at default (it was set to English, US) and then I clicked next. Then I was taken to the screen were I received the device driver error message.
Bottom line, I was never given an option as to where to install Windows 7. Further more, other forums have said that it's been done quite successfully. Also, it was my understanding that Boot Camp does not yet support 64 bit operating systems, so I downloaded the 32 bit version.
So, I don't think I could have accidentally written it over the Mac OS X partition, as I was never even given the option to write it anywhere. The only reason I had to stop was because of the driver issue. Now I'd just like to know how to boot back up into OS X please, and if that's gone, how do I install OS X again?
I have the OS X install discs ready. He'll probably freak when I tell him his computer was gone (seeing as he was not able to back it up onto an external HD, he does not have one.)

Boot Camp Problem (The disk cannot be partitioned because some files...)

Hey! So here i am. i open up Boot Camp Asistant, get to partioning. start partinoning then after about 5 minuets i get this message:
*The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.*
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
I have checked in Disk Utility & More and i am not sure hoe to fix it.

First I can't say I'm a MAC expert, so keep that in mind. But if I tell you my interpretation of that issue, which I also have actually, it might help. I think the probably is that when you partition a HD you can't really be on it, so the Mac needs to allocate enough memory which is either the minimum needed for windows or the amount you choose then separate those needed memory cells from the other memory cells used by the Mac so it can create the partition. Then formats the memory in the partition. However if there isn't enough unused consecutive memory cells then the Mac needs to move files to create consecutive memory cells to partition. But, as you can see, sometimes those files cant be moved so the Mac needs to have the entire hard drive formated so the files can be moved. At that point the partition can be inserted without an issue. Of, course the idea of formatting your HD is not exciting to say the least. Its not hard but it can take awhile to do and then you'll have to reinstall all the third party programs you have. An alternative idea to explore is to use the firewire port on the Mac [if you have one] and you likely do. And get an external HD to run through that and put windows in the external HD. Firewire is a higher speed data transfer option then USB. You can run programs through firewire just as USB does to a lesser extent. But there are limits. So it may, in the end, not work for what you want.
But I think what it's telling you is you need to format your entire HD. But, like I said I'm no expert. If you find the solution let me know. Like I said, I have the same problem.

Boot camp problem (can't merge empty space)

Hello everybody.
After a failed Boot Camp Windows 8 installation my drive has 50 GB empty space (the former partition) that Disk Utility can't merge with the main partition nor format it.
And if I boot from the USB stick made by Boot Camp, Windows begins the installation, but inmediately reboots and I can't even access to insert the product key.
I've read about some other utilities that can fix this partition problems (Testdisk, GPT fdisk), but I'm not that advanced user and I think that I have messed up enough.

Boot Camp Problems: Disc Error?

Hi All,
I hope this is in the right forum, if not - I'm sorry!
Have just tried to install XP Pro using Boot Camp, on a 20Gb Partition. Boot Camp created the partition smoothly, and XP installed all of the set-up files onto the new partition.
When it come to restarting the machine however, I had the option of booting from disc again - after that option times out, I get a message "Disc read Error" or something along those lines.
I do have the option of restarting by hitting any key, however the system just freezes!
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem?
Also, should Flight Simulator 2004 run smoothly on Boot Camp running XP?

I just spent the weekend dealing with this.
Credit to this Austrian guy diagonalinho who posted this in a different thread. I had a little trouble understanding his instructions (looks like English is not his first language) so I am posting the summary that I wrote for another person having the same problem. Credit goes to diagonalinho though.
First, I think someone already mentioned that the reason you are having the problem is because Boot Camp Assistant formatted the XP partition as FAT32. It needs to be NTFS. Windows Setup is supposed to ask you how to format the new partition (see page 13 of the Boot Camp manual). If your experience is like mine, Windows Setup never asks that question. It simply goes from you selecting the C: drive (Boot Camp manual page 11) to the installation process (a blue screen yellow bar marking progress as things are copied to the partition).

I do not know why the format step is being skipped in some installs but not in all. Call it an "undocumented feature" (e.g., bug).
Here is how to fix it:
Boot Camp Assistant should have instructed you to insert the XP CD in the drive and then it will restart. This is what you want. After some time, you will get a blue screen with white text in the upper left hand corner that says "Windows Setup." On the bottom of the screen there will be some words telling you this and that is loading. Keep an eye on this. It will slowly list a bunch of things that it is loading. Toward the end, it will say something like "Starting Windows Setup." At this point, press and hold the F10 button. Keep holding it until you get a black screen with white text.
You are now in the Recovery Manager. You will be asked what volume you want. The only choice you should have is 1. This is your new Windows partition, it is not your Mac OS partition. YYou may safely type "1" (without quotes) and press return. Then, the prompt will look like this:
C:\WINDOWS\
At the prompt, you type "cd.." (without quotes) and press return, the prompt will now look like this:
C:\
Now, we are going to reformat your windows partition as NTFS. To do so, at the prompt type the following without quotation marks "format c: /fs:ntfs" When typed into the prompt, it will look like this (pay close attention to spacing)
C:\format c: /fs:ntfs
It will give you a warning and ask if you are sure. Type "y" and press return. It will take some time to format and you will see a percentage counter counting up from 1% to 100%. When it is done, you will be back at the C:\ prompt where you will just type "exit" and press return.
Now, Windows Setup should proceed normally.

Is apple going to fix the boot camp problem in yosemite?

I was told to wait on my install because of loss of data problems with boot camp and Yosemite? Is apple working on this problem or do I just have to forget ever updating to Yosemite? Just kidding they probably are looking at all the time. Thanks for your time.

If you have not made any disk partition changes or resized windows or used OSX Disk Utility after Windows was installed, you are in a relatively safer position. I would highly recommend backups of both OSX and Windows with the ability to rollback, before you attempt the upgrade.

64-bit Windows 7 on Boot Camp Problem

I recently got my new Macbook Pro, 15" with Intel i7 inside. I installed Windows 7 64-bit in it through Boot Camp right after I got it.
However, after installation, I found my Mac system takes far longer time to boot up than as before (Well, that "far longer" actually means around 20 seconds more than original). Some of my friends told me this could be handled if I totally remove the Windows partition and work on Mac only. However, I purchased lots of software in Windows, abandoning it would mean huge losses to me. Could anyone help me with this?
Besides, while running Windows 7, the OS seems to be quite unstable. First, the computer gets overheated easily; second, the system crashes quite frequently - not a blue screen, but instead, everything stops running and I could not even move my mouse, like what WinXP used to do. I actually just came back from Windows 7 from that problem -- I could only press and hold the power button to shut it down before I could do anything with my computer... So sad...
I'm running Boot Camp 3.1, so probably it's about updating the program.
Could anyone help me? I'd be so grateful for the help. Thank you

Thanks for your answering. I know Windows 7 could be stable, rock solid, for I've been using that OS on the laptop I once had before getting the new mac.
I'll try to search for some new updates for my hardware later and then try if things will be better.
Besides, I noticed that you're running Windows 7 and Mac OS X as well, do you also encounter problem of having the boot up time of Mac OS, too? I mean, it will stay longer at the point where the screen is white all over with the apple logo shown.
In addition, I also had some problems with switching between the two OS's. When I pressed the power button on the computer, I should also press and hold "option" until Boot Camp shows up the two OS's for me to select, right? However, this worked for me before, but recently, I found it really hard to do that: when I press and hold "option", the screen will keep white, and nothing will ever show up, unless I press the power button again to shut it down... Do you have any ideas about this kind of situation?

Boot Camp problem.

I need boot camp and i have a 3tb fusion drive hdd on my new imac.
I need windows both on vmware fusion (and everything is ok with it, it works perfectly) to execute fast simple applications not availabale on mac os And on boot camp to execute 'heavier' programs.

Caution! You are trying to follow the steps to install Windows on a 3 TB hard drive, but you have a 3 TB Fusion Drive, so you can't follow those steps.

That's very dangerous, so make a backup of your files before doing anything. If you want to be sure or you don't want to follow those steps, I highly recommend you to wait until Apple launches a OS X update that makes Boot Camp compatible with a 3 TB Fusion Drive, or download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows on a virtual machine

MacBook Pro 15 with Windows 8.1 installed via Boot Camp problem with keys "@" and " " of the keyboard

I have a MacBook Pro Retina Maverick in 2013 on which I installed Windows via Boot Camp 8.1.
The installation went well but when I am running Windows 8.1, I have a problem with "@" and "<" keys on the keyboard.
When I type the "@" key, I get "<"
When I type the "<" button, I get "@"
I have reinstall Boot Camp from Windows 8.1 for reinstall the drivers and see if it would solve the problem but it was not the case.
Someone of you has he encountered the same problem?

Boot Camp problems with Windows 7, and a new Macbook Pro

When I try to install Windows 7, when the process is almost complete and Windows is finalizing all settings, the system reboots then gets stuck at the white/gray bootscreen, and then tries to boot from disk, only to repeat the bootscreen cycle indefinitely. How do I fix this? Thank you very much.

My MAC BOOK is 13 inch, first generation of unibody that I bought when it first came out last November, 2009. It seems that the latest boot camp 3.1 does not support windows7 64 bits on my mac book model. I followed Apple instruction to upgrade boot camp 3.0 when running XP 32 bits. And I then upgrade my XP 32 bits to 64 bit Windows 7. The upgrade/installation was successful but I encountered a lot of problems with the mouse and sound.
1. No sound with my new Windows 7 64 bits.
2. I managed to make Windows 7 64 bit recognize my apple mighty mouse. But the mouse does not funtion normal as expected. It does not work with swiping and scrolling.
3. I could not re-install boot camp 3.0 from windows.old nor from the Mac OS X installation disk. When I tried to run setup.exe from the MAC OS X snow leopard, I got the error "Boot camp x64 is unsupported for this model"
I am really disappointed that boot camp 3.1 is not universally supported for all mac book or mac book pro.
I need help to re-install boot camp for my Windows 7? I bought the upgrade through education upgrade program and I selected to get 64 bit version so I do not want to rollback the installation to 32 bit.

Annoying Boot Camp problem

I've been a Mac user for a few years but unfortunately it looks as though I may have to install Windows on my MBP, at least temporarily.
So I ran Boot Camp for the first time. I have 65GB free on my hard drive, and want to create a 20GB partition for Windows.
I am getting the error 'Cannot move files' etc... it seems a well documented issue although all posts I seem to find are about a year or so old.
Are there any fixes for this problem, doing the suggested 'erase/restore' that Boot Camp is suggesting would most probably ruin my day. Yes I have all my files on recent backup, but working in graphics/multimedia.. the software suites I use are certainly not the quickest to install and I'd rather spend my afternoon in more creative ways to be honest.
It does seem ironic that every Mac I have had has been absolutely perfect, minor issues along the way but for the most part, excellent. The minute I put a Windows CD anywhere near it... the problems occur.

Have you tried running First Aid to repair? Could be that come file attributes are out of sync and causing this? A repair could remedy it.

Boot Camp problem: Windows install can't "see" USB keyboard

I just got my new iMac quad-core i5 and love it.
I tried using Boot Camp to install a copy of Windows XP, just see how it would run.
The installation went fine, until under Windows Setup I have to hit ENTER. Keep in mind, I'm using the old USB keyboard from my G5, which accepted commands up to that point; not the wireless keyboard/mouse that came with the iMac.
Nothing happens, and I have to do a hard reboot to get back out.
Any suggestions? Thanks...
