Boot Camp / Software Download takes hours

Hi there,
I'm trying to load "Windows Drivers" via Boot Camp.
Everything works fine until the middle of the process. Then nothing else happens. Even not an error message.
Cheers, Kay

Sometimes the Windows support software can't be downloaded using Boot Camp Assistant. In that case, the best thing you can do is to download the Windows support software from the Apple website.
You have to download one or another version depending on the Mac model you have and the Windows version you want to install > http://support.apple.com/downloads/#bootcamp

  • While at boot camp assistant, Downloading the windows support software stalls

From a long time windows user, I was persuaded to migrate to mac and am quite lost. While using boot camp assistant, downloading the windows support software just stalls at 20%. I tried using alternative drives, USB, DVD and the partitioned HD of imac but still to no avail. What should I do?

No problem.  For me, I spent the time downlaoding the drivers for Boot Camp 4.0 (form Lion), un-installed by Boot Camp 3.0 because it wouldn't upgrade, and then learned that Boot Camp 4.0 didn't support my old MacBok Pro.  I had to go back and install 3.0, then update to 3.1, 3.2 and finally to 3.3.  That took me about an hour and a half...  Oh well,  at least I already had most of those on disc ot downloaded...

  • Boot camp Software in vista x64

I am running vista x64 on a 1.1 Mac Pro. The OS runs just fine but I would like to have all of the boot camp software running. Is there anyway to do this?

If you have 10.5.6 DVD, you can install some non Apple Boot Camp drivers. You actually need the set that came with the 2008 Mac Pros.
OSSwitcher and TimeServices are the only real items I can think of you would not have.
Or wait for Windows 7 - you can download it today - and hope.

  • Kernal Panic after Boot Camp Software update

Hey all here is my dilemma,
    I have a MBP 15' 2.66GHZ i7 8GB Ram etc...
Few days ago my internal drive would not boot; So I went to the apple store and they 'determined' that it was the logic board through a very sketchy process of elimination. In the end my logic board was replaced.
On the next day I decide to finally set up boot camp (Big Mistake). Everything goes fine up until I decide to download - Boot Camp Software Update 3.2 for Windows 64 bit. After installation I was prompted to restart my computer after which it booted into Mac and Kernel panic ensued along with the gray screen.
Windows partition works fine, I was unable to boot from CD, tried PRAM reset, Could not safe boot. Target Disk mode formatting the hard disk and then reinstalling Mac OS was successful in reinstalling the OS, but it still does not boot.
Now I am stuck with Windows 7 working and Mac not booting stuck at apple no spinning wheel.
Please help, I really do not know what do to.

  • Where is "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit"?

Where is "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit"??

Did you try just 3.2 update?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL979
I find this "you need 3.0 first" then have to install year old 3.1, and only then can you install 3.2? what kind of Windows motherboard support is that?
And, you already have 3.0 installed off a 10.6 OS X DVD, and have you tried to use Apple Software Update (Windows obviously)? though I think the standalone updates are better and less trouble or problems. Download and keep them handy in case ever needed in the future too.

  • Missing Mac OS X Lion Boot Camp Software drivers

    Dear Community,
Having just completed a smooth installation of Windows 7 on my 2011 Macbook Pro, I was quite surprised to see that the wireless and ethernet connections didn't work. The computer did not even find any possible connections and I'm missing Wireless Adaptor or any such sort of devices in the device manager.
Now, my first bet is that I'm missing a driver installation. So after having looked on the internet for some guidance on where to get the drivers, it comes down to me using the installation DVD that's included in the package in which the mac came. But no such DVD came with the package, since Apple has decided not to ship physical DVDs anymore.
So my question is, how do I get these drivers?
I see under //support.apple.com/kb/HT4818#12 that the Atheros 802.11 Wireless, Broadcom Wireless and Marvel Yukon Ethernet are all drivers included in the Mac OS X Lion Boot Camp Software, but then why don't I have them then?
Many thanks for the, hopeful, fine answers!
    Best regards,
    Tim

But everything else got installed and hardware abstraction, Boot Camp control panel and other drivers and services are now present and running?
surprised to see that the wireless and ethernet connections didn't work. The computer did not even find any possible connections and I'm missing Wireless Adaptor or any such sort of devices in the device manager.
Usually you need to establish a wired connection.
And it is a problem for some, definitely.
Boot Camp 4.01 or later will enable those devices but you may still need to find appropriate drivers too. I don't know why but audio and graphics are also issues that the user needs to attend to and is not 'spelled out' that you will need those as well.

  • I downloaded Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit

Because I read a forum stating that Version 3.0.4 (which is what is on my computer) does not mesh well with Windows 7. After I downloaded it of the apple page, the software did not update and instead it opened in a Textedit window. How do I update Boot Camp from 3.0.4 to 3.1?

If you're using the bundled Boot Camp 3.04 that comes with MacBooks / iMacs etc. it'll not upgrade with the v.3.1, v3.13 nor v3.2 until...  if it's saying "v3.0 of Bootcamp is not loaded" etc.
You reload your Windows drivers from a ORIGINAL RETAIL Snow Leopard DVD only. That retail version contained v3.0. You just load in the disc in Windows and it'll overwrite the v3.04.
Once you do that you can then download v3.1, v3.13 (if applicable to you), and v3.2 directly from Apple's Downloads section and it'll all work perfectly then. [once you've all those in you can then download Service Pack 3 of Windows XP as an additional advantage].
Another tip... let Windows RE-FORMAT your FAT32 drive again (i.e. not using the Boot Camp version) or preferably NTFS for the best compatibility.

  • Where is iso file in boot camp support download to copy to usb drive?

I am attempting to install Windows 7 professional 64 bit on a 21" imac. I have downloaded boot camp support software 5.0.5033. I have a 4gb flash drive installed. When I run boot camp I am asked to install a iso image. I can not find an iso image. I have tried using msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/x17-59186.iso and let it run for up to 4 hours and I get a message that the server cannot be found.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

  • Map download takes hours

    Hi Everyone,
I have a mac so if anyone knows how to download the maps on mac let me know.
I tried to download the Au map on the work computer and had to stop it because it took 4 hours and we closed, now when i try to down load the maps its saying 17hours to do so anyone have a solution?
    Thanks
    Johnny

    Hi john2001
It is a lot faster downloading to microSD in card reader on PC than to phone as mass storage device! UK maps take about 3 hours for 100Mb to phone in evenings!
Interesting using MAC as I'm using Intel MAC with boot camp
and Nokia stuff is on the "other side"
I have found incidentally that PCSuite 6.83 v14.1 is the first version that I can't download onto MAC desktop and shove across the partition - "not compatible" OS in use!
I'm surprised that Maploader will work on the MAC
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • Do I need to re-install all of my Boot Camp software?

I recently installed a new internal hard drive to my MacBook.  This is my old configuration:
13 inch Aluminum Late 2008 MacBook
Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53).
160 GB SATA disk as my hard drive a d 4 GB of memory
    Old Configuration:
    Name:  Macintosh HD
    Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
    Size: 132.5 GB
    Name:  BOOTCAMP
Format: Windows NT File System (NTFS)
    Size: 26.69 GB
When I was partitioning the new drive I did so as follows:
    Name: Macintosh HD
    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Size: 973.51 GB
    Name:  BOOTCAMP
Format: MS-DOS (FAT) ---  This was the only option that I was given that I thought would work.  I did not have the option of "Windows NT File System (NTFS) to choose from.
Previous to the new internal hard drive I had Boot Camp installed and I would go into system preferences and change my start up disk to Boot Camp whenever I needed to go into Windows because I had to use software not available for Mac.  I've now installed the new hard drive and cloned the old drive to the new drive partioning it as shown above.
However, ever since I did this I have not been able to go into the Boot Camp and use my Windows.  All of the information seems to be there.  However, it isn't showing in the system preferences - start up disk -- as a start up disk option.  Therefore I assume it didn't clone correctly, or at least not in a way to use it the way I was.  I also assume if it isn't running as it was before now I must have done something wrong.
Is there anyone who can tell me what to do from here?  Do I need to re-install Windows?  Do I need to re-partion the drive?  I am sorry for my ignorance and would really appreicate any advice.  I am unsure of where to go from here.  I've tried to resolve this problem in the past.  It wasn't until recently that I really need to get things back to normal in order to use my Windows side.  Thank you in advance for any help.

Did you clone the drive with Winclone, or a Windows backup/clone application? There have been problems with many of these programs in the past and below are some notes I have taken in that regard.
Acronis 2011 w/ plus pak, didn't work well previously
    Ghost 15 - probably not
Casper 6 works for Windows on Boot Camp only
CopyCatX is more lengthy and sector copy so takes the longest.
Paragon Hard Drive Suite 2011 because it works great and they have CampTune
Windows 7 system backup and restore - Apple's goofy HFS read-only interferes with system and file backup.
Some have used Casper, Clonezilla and Paragon but less regularly, Casper failed a few times, Clonezilla worked but took forever, Paragon was the best but my sample is limited.
Winclone allows you to migrate your Bootcamp partition from one Mac to another Mac and make sure Windows will boot. However, if the processor (for example, Core Duo or i7) is a different type, the restored version of Windows may not be supported or be able to run on the new Mac. If you are migrating between Macs that are the same type (MacBook Air to MacBook Air, for example), you will have the greatest chance of success. You can try to restore Winclone images between different types of Macs (for example, a Mac Pro to a Mac Mini), but be aware that if Windows boots but does not reach the desktop, it is probably not an issue with Winclone, but rather the change in processor type.

  • Boot Camp 5 Download Issue

Boot Camp 5.05.033 is supposed to be a .zip file.  However, after the dl I don't see this but do see:  Two blue folders (Boot camp and $WinPeDriver$) and an .xtml "page."  The folders contain several files each, none of which are .zip.  Am I downloading the wrong patch?  Am trying to install 64-bit Windows 7 on a separate partition.  Any help appreciated.
    thanks.

Windows 7 comes on DVD or burned ISO at slowest possible speed.
I assume you don't have an internal DVD so you have to use a USB-DVD or other method and have Apple driver for USB also on a thumb drive.
The Windows Support Software is used after Windows is installed. And has to be on a MSDOS/FAT partition - USB flash or thumbdrive are great

  • Boot camp assistant download windows drivers does not finish

I'm have Mac Air 11" OS X Lion. I have already installed Windows 7 via Boot Camp but I haven't downloaded
the Windows Support Drivers. I need it to properly load the devices in my Windows 7 OS. When I used Boot
Camp Assistant to download the windows support drivers, it seems its taking forever to finish. It doesn't finish.
I have tried both options (via DVD or external device FAT) and it still doesn't work. Before I even installed Windows
I did software update my Mac OS X per documentation. Please help.

Hey NamelessSquid, you should be able to get it to work but as pcockrell said it's not officially supported.
When are you having problems with the install? Can you not launch the windows installer, or does the windows installer give you an error? A few more details may help to get you up and running.

  • Can't Install Boot Camp Software on WinXp SP2

Here's what I have done thus far:
    1. Partition HD such that windows has its own 30 gig partition.
    2. Install FAT32 Windows XP SP2 on the new 30 gig partition.
    3. Insert MacOSX disk that came with my brand new Mac Mini as to install Boot Camp and drivers.
    4. Installation begins but soon fails. The error message reads "Installation encountered an error" and goes on to state there may be a "problem with the package"
    5. I have tried deleting this partition, creating a new one, and installing XP once again, but, still, I cannot find any luck. I even tried using my old Mac Mini OSX disk (which isn't that old -- 10.6.2) to install Boot Camp and the drivers, and still no luck.
One thing that I noticed was that when I am in my Mac OSX partition and I check the version of Boot Camp, it states 3.0.2; however, when in Windows attempting to install Boot Camp it displays version 3.1. Now, when I used my older Mac OSX install disk (10.6.2), the Boot Camp version attempting to install was 3.0.
So, essentially, I am entirely lost. I simply do not understand what I could have done wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
first of to clear up the confusion.
Apples BootCamp consists of two part: an OSX part which is the BootCamp Assistant and a Windows part which are the Drivers.
These two parts can have different version numbers.
The latest version of the BootCamp Assistant is indeed 3.0.2 and the lastest version of the Driver package is 3.1 (or later with the Mid 2010 released Macs).
The problem and the error messages you receive make me believe that somwhow the optical disc drive in your Mac has problems reading the Windows part (where the Drivers are) of your OSX DVD.
If you have access to a WIndows PC you might wanna insert the OSX DVD there and copy the full content of it onto an USB-Memory-Stcik.
Back at your Mac insert that Stick while in Windows and copy the full content back onto your WIndows partition (C:) preferably into a new folder in the root directory (c:\Download for example).
    Regards
    Stefan
