Boot camp stuck at the start of windows installation

Hi, i'm reading through the comunity and tried to find an answer to my issue. There was a another discussion that was close, but not enough
Let me state clearly what's going on.
Macbook pro OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2
As i already have a win7 ultimate dvd for installation, i just marked Download software and Install windows. First step goes fine and second step starts, computer reboots and begins windows installation... so window hasn't installed yet, but drivers are required. That's where i get stuck.

It wasn't the first time i used bootcamp, i tried it before on (Snow) Leopard. I didn't remember that formatting, i think it's new to (Mountain) Lion.
I just run into those two problems. The first about the drivers before installation, solved by changing windows dvd. And this one by your suggestion... thank you.
Anyways, first problem was really weird and it wasn't just me having it.

  • In the boot up process my computer is stuck on the "Starting Windows" screen. What do I do?

My computer is stuck on the "Starting Windows" screen.  I can't get it to boot up.  What do I do?

try tapping f8 as it powers up and see if you can get into safe mode. When presented with this problem I usually boot the laptop from a technician's disk and run a preboot environment version of Windows, then do a chkdsk; /r on the primary hard drive. 60-70% of the time that fixes it.  You can also run the chkdsk: /r from safe mode if you can get there.

Third-party NTFS software interferes with the Apple NTFS drivers, which control whether you can see the Bootcamp partition in the Startup Disk option. As a test, can you uninstall all third-party NTFS software and check System Preferences -> Startup Disk?

  • Boot Camp Assistant ejects The Windows intaller disc

    Hi to everyone,
    iMac:
    - Intel-based iMac (late 2008).
    OS and Hardware:
    - Mac OS X version 10.5.7
    - Boot ROM Version: IM81.00C1.B00
    - SMC Version (system): 1.30f1
    DVD Drive:
    - OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5630A
    - Firmware Revision: 1AHN
I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro OEM SP3 (version 2002).
I launched Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 and created a 32 GB Bootcamp partition. So far so good, then I'm asked to insert the Windows installer disc. I do what is asked then wait a few seconds and click "Start Installation". After about 20 seconds or so, Boot Camp Assistant ejects the Windows disc and displays this: "The installer disc could not be found." I re-insert the disc but the same thing happens again and again.
This is what I tried before posting here for your help:
I quit Boot Camp Assistant and tried to insert the Windows XP Pro installer disc and it won't mount at all and will eventually be ejected.
I thought the disc might be damaged so I inserted it in a PC and everything seems right with the disc. I can see all files using the PC computer that is 5 years old.
I thought it would be a firmware problem with my iMac so I accessed this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237 and it seems there is no firmware update required for my iMac.
I execute the command Apple>Software Update and there is nothing to update.
Is there someone able to help me?
    Thank you in advance.
    Kazon

    Hi,
I solved the problem myself. This might help others.
    Recap:
The Windows XP Pro CD was always ejected by Boot Camp and it wouldn't mount at all when inserted in the CD slot. The CD was however readable on a Windows Machine.
It was not easy to detect but the Windows CD was physically deformed. It wasn't flat. It was a little convex (the outer edge was higher than its center). My iMac wasn't able to read it at all but a PC was able until I decided to test it with a full install on the PC. About half way during the installation, it stopped and an error message was displayed by Windows Setup "Disc Read Error - Disc might be damaged".
I ejected the CD and discovered the deformation. So I carefully placed the outer edge of the CD over a ring and put some weight on its center to try to undo the deformation. I've waited 2 days then retested the CD and it worked at the first attempt. My iMac was happy and so was I. I made a security copy of the CD while it's still readable in case I have to re-install later.
I find Microsoft cheap of putting their Installation CD in a paper sleeve. If the CD have been stored in a CD case this would not have happened.
    End of the story.

Get a Virtual Macine software program, Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install XP in a virtual machine.
You can't install XP in a Boot Camp Partition with Lion or Mt Lion, only Win 7.

Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable.

  • When I begin to attempt to download the windows support software in boot camp, it says the windows support software is unavailable. Is there any other place I can download it for a Macbook Pro 5,5 intel core 2 duo without the original CD?

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
Sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
The needed BootCamp Drivers are on the OSX Install DVD 1 that came with your Mac.
Insert that disc while in Windows after the Windows installation to install the drivers.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • While at boot camp assistant, Downloading the windows support software stalls

From a long time windows user, I was persuaded to migrate to mac and am quite lost. While using boot camp assistant, downloading the windows support software just stalls at 20%. I tried using alternative drives, USB, DVD and the partitioned HD of imac but still to no avail. What should I do?

No problem.  For me, I spent the time downlaoding the drivers for Boot Camp 4.0 (form Lion), un-installed by Boot Camp 3.0 because it wouldn't upgrade, and then learned that Boot Camp 4.0 didn't support my old MacBok Pro.  I had to go back and install 3.0, then update to 3.1, 3.2 and finally to 3.3.  That took me about an hour and a half...  Oh well,  at least I already had most of those on disc ot downloaded...

I want to use my mac mini as a stand alone hardawre for windows 8. If it is possible please help with what to do...

Backup / clone Mac OS X to another drive for safe keeping.
Boot from Windows 8 DVD and just format the entire drive, make sure to have everything else not needed unpugged.
    Nothing hard.
    What is Boot Camp 5?
Boot Camp 5 is not a release of OS X software. Rather, it is a release of the Windows Support Software (drivers). You will need to use this software on your Mac with Windows 8 or Windows 7. For more information on Boot Camp 5, see thttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT5639

  • Problems installing Windows 7 with boot camp, cant find the cd/dvd driver...

I´m having some problems installing Windows 7 on my new 12,1 (21,5) iMac with boot camp. When the computer restarts and the Windows 7 setup begins, i get the message that the cd/dvd driver cant be found, so i can't continue the installation. I've tried searching online for the driver, but can't find it. The cd/dvd seems to be a OPTIARC cd/dvd ad-5690h, which seems to be produced by Sony. I have a authentic windows 7. I even tried loading everything ver to a usb-drive, but then it wont boot.

After reading around on this, and other forums I tried to burn a new dvd at reduced speed(2x), but that did'nt work either... I have an authentic windows 7 iso, downloaded with serial, is there any way to boot this from a jump drive or external hdd?

Only if you decide to share with us your particular situation. Guild Wars should install and run like any other Game. Other than the Game Installer, Games don't need some other installer to make them work. Only someone who reads the instructions for the proper installation.
