Boot Camp Update 2.1 will not run
I'm trying to install Windows XP on my Intel Macbook. It's a legal copy purchased from Microsoft so no trouble there.
The Bootcamp Assistant worked fine and the Windows install worked fine. I'm now at the point of trying to install the Boot Camp drivers but I don't have my Leopard disc available. (I bought a an OS X Family Pack and my son currently has the discs 20 miles away.)
Accordingly, I downloaded the Boot Camp 2.1 update from Apple but it simply will not run under Windows in the Boot Camp partition. It briefly looks (1-2 seconds) as though it's starting, but then never does.
I tested the .exe file on a pure Windows machine and it runs fine so there's no file corruption problems.
I've searched online but can't seem to find any solution to this particular problem.

I admit I haven't ever taken a closer look at that and as said to my knowledge, the 2.1 update only works with the 2.0 drivers already installed.
Just did a quick googling and couldn't find any success story of using the 2.1 Update as a standalone driver install without having the 2.0 driver installed before.
Do you have the needed Admin rights when running the update.exe ?

Where are the Boot Camp Update 3.3 release notes?
I got a prompt on my Windows 7 install about an update. States to go to the boot camp support page for release notes. Went to the boot camp support page and no release notes. Saw link "Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows" (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1443) and I can download from there but again, it doesn't show what exactly is in it other than "critical bug fixes and hardware support". Then it says for more information to go to the main boot camp support page.
So where the heck do I go to actually SEE what was fixed in the release?!As far as I can find out, only Apple knows the details about 3.3 .

Probably this reply is in the wrong post, but I just registered to this forum. I had the same problem with upgrading Boot camp to 2.1. The MAC OSX I am running is in Dutch and my Windows XP version is English. I started all over again installing Windows from scratch on the Boot camp partition. But now I did not make any changes during setup when it comes to keyboard and language support. After installation I ran the Boot camp 2.0 software from the MAC OSX CD (now it suddenly appeared in English instead of Dutch the first time), rebooted the machine and then successfully installed the Boot camp 2.1 update!
As read on Internet here and there, the problem seems to occur when there is some kind of regional setting problem or other language incompatibility.
Hopefully it helps a little (although I was not happy doing it all over again).

Problem after Update, mosts apps will not run
After running some Apple updates this weekend, many applications on my machine no longer work. Everything ran fine before the updates. I have not installed any other new software or hardware for months.
Any one know what's going on?
The following apps do not work ... I click on them, they bounce, then I get a submit error

I have tried creating a new account and running the apps, and that does not work (in the new account, the menu bar keeps disappearing and reappearing implying the Finder keeps crashing.

500 MHz PowerPC G3 Mac OS X (10.3.9)if you are having system wide issues archive and install would be the best bet. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120 first however, you must do disk repair http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214. hopefully you do not have severe directory damage. if disk utility finds errors it cannot fix, back up your info immediately. you can use a third party app like diskwarrior or techtool pro to attempt fixing the problem, and if it can't be fixed, you will have to erase and install your operating system. How can I install windows 7 using boot camp, if the partition will not format correctly?

I'm new to this forum and have had a chance to look around a little bit, but haven't really found an answer to the problem that I'm having.
I have an imac and I'm attempting to use boot camp. I have used it in the past, with prior versions of mac os x, but this is the first time that I have tried it with 10.6.8. The first thing I found out is that I can't use Windows XP, even with service pack 2 installed, because it doesn't find the "boot camp" partition. So, I recently obtained a full retail copy of Windows 7 and have been trying to install it. I have no problem with the boot camp assistant creating the new partition, 200 GB. However, when I insert the Windows 7 DVD and the computer restarts in the Win 7 install screen it tells me that I cannot install Windows on the selected partition (which I expected to see.) So I choose "format" the further format the partition. It doesn't ask me how I would like to partition this, but just seems to start. All seems to go fine until it finishes and i see the same message of "Windows cannot be installed in the selected partition." I can click on the format tab endlessly but it still doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas? I've called Apple and their technicians keep telling me that I need to reinstall the Mac OS again, which I've tried. It doesn't seem to help either.

There is the answer, right in front of us ....
Delete the bootcamp partition and start again the correct partition type is GUID but BootCamp should take care of that automatically so try again. -

You will need to burn a DVD using Disk Utility (Yosemite): Burn a disk image to a CD or DVD and use it for Windows installation. You will also need a USB2 flash disk for the BC drivers for it to work. Please ensure that the DVD is burnt at the recommend rate for the physical media and verify, otherwise you will end up with an unusable DVD. -
I recently purchased the iPhone 5 and my itunes account on my iMac 7,1 will not recognize it as a device. My imac has stopped downloading new updates, it says it is up to date with iTunes 9.2.1. My imac will not run the newest 10.7 itunes either. All I want to do is put my music from itunes on my computer to my new phone. HELP please!!
i called apple and they are sending me snow leopard so i should, *fingers crossed, be able to run the newer version of itunes. we'll find out for sure in a few days when it arrives

After failed update of itunes yesterday, now will not run with error message "MSVCR80.dll not found" APSDaemon.exe will not run. itunes will not now run.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Firefox 4.0 will not find update to 4.0.1, add-ons for 4.0.1 will not run

Downloaded 4.0 UK-edition on my laptop, the 4.0 US-edition on my desktop, and the 4.0 UK-edition on a 2nd laptop.
On mine, updates to 4.0.1 are not found, some add-ons were taken off, as incompatible, that ran on the 4.0 on my desktop (and weren't on the 2nd laptop). Add-ons, now already even compatible with 4.0.1 (running on the 2nd laptop) will not run as 'incompatible' with 4.0 (though listed on the add-ons site as compatible.
It has stopped telling me that 'something' is pretending to be an update from Firefox (whatever that 'something' be?) since setting the browser to updating manually, but asking me first what to do. All currently installed add-ons have not asked me for some time (though on other computers), and also report as fully up-t0-date.
Ergo: Neither Firefox 4.0 nor any installed add-ons update correctly.
Didn't crash, though it 'likes' doing that after printing (always Badly! with dreadful printing options/previews), leaving two tabs (rather than the one before), both of which only can be shut from their context menus. Crash reports have been sent with same email address, but not been answered. This browser has all the qualities of a Beta-release and needs some serious overhauls (it's also not very new or much safer!).
Example for an add-on that won't install on 4.0, but will under 4.0.1: CookieMonster - which is desperately needed, given your browser still suffers from minimal, insufficient cookie management, incl. lists of domains that wish to set 'another' cookie when no cookies are as yet, allegedly, sitting on the computer.I've since updated manually to 4.0.1, but haven't yet tried the full uninstall version, because I have to export plenty of settings first (and/or manually copy them). Also means I'd have to start from scratch with many customizations in No Script.
That said, I'll try the 'Safe Mode' option tonight, thank you :-)!
If I have to uninstall the whole shebang, I'd be more tempted to go back to 3.6.x until a few more of 4's teething problems (e.g. the messy print dialogues, particularly preview, which regularly doesn't even work) have been tackled.

1. Delete the taskbar icon by right clicking it and selecting "unpin this program from taskbar."

3. First, left click this item to be sure it works to open the program. [If not, I'm out of ideas and you may have to re-install Lightroom.] If it does work, close Lightroom (once it has opened).
4. Click the start button and locate Lightroom 3.6 again. This time, Right-click this item - holding down the right mouse button - and drag it to an open area of the taskbar. You should see a prompt to "Pin this Program to Taskbar." If so, release the mouse button, and the new icon will appear on the taskbar. Try clicking this icon normally and LR should open for you,

Just attempted to download current update of Itunes into my HP computer with Windows 7. I've never had trouble before but now it will not run. Runtime Error R6034 an app has make an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Itunes Error 7
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I am running OSX 10.4.11 on my iMac; Firefox automatically updated to version 12, and now it will not run on my computer.
Is there a way to deinstall the new version while keeping my saved bookmarks, etc?
If not, how do I deinstall 12 and reinstall the older version of Firefox that worked with my operating system?

You can install Firefox 3.6 from [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]. Please keep in mind that not only is Firefox not receiving any updates (thus rendering it insecure), neither is Mac 10.4 or any of the plugins used on it. Running such an old Operating System is dangerous to your information's security on the internet. something for you to keep in mind.
