Boot Camp Utility Missing From Windows 7

Hi all,
I'm running an 8-core Mac Pro blah blah blah with 3x1t hard drives. I've used the Boot Camp utility to make one of those 1t hard drives into windows 7.  This worked perfectly, in fact I'm currently typing from Windows 7. However...
When I've done this previously there was always a Boot Camp utility within Windows 7 (in the bottom right of my task bar) which allowed me to switch back from Windows 7 to Mac, and vise versa... This time the Boot Camp utility within Windows 7 which allows me to go back to Mac has disappeared ... I'm stuck in Windows 7!
Any idea why this might be? And how I can might download Boot Camp or something to rectify this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Your OS X 10.6 DVD has the 3.0.4 drivers and you would then need to update 3x to get to 3.3
So do you or did you get to 3.2 at least? 3.0 and 3.1 were buggy.
Mounting and accessing HFS drive volumes was also causing BSODs; and does not work when there are Apple array volumes.
There is also and better place to look is control panels: Boot Camp with its own startup disk section
'x' on startup = Mac OS
Check Services and startup items. You should have
OSSwitcher
Apple TimeServices (without which time will be off every time you switch OS)
Programs control panel: Boot Camp there? try Repair.
Lion allows downloading Boot Camp 4.x driver from Boot Camp Assistant to put on USB device or elsewhere that you access in Windows.
www.apple.com/support/bootcamp guide faq how to articles etc
Maybe you have a corrupt system and time to do a chkdsk and also boot from Windows DVD and allow it to do system repair or restore from a good check point

  • Boot Camp Not Working From Windows Control Panel

    Hi,
When I click on the 'Boot Camp' icon in the Windows Control Panel I get the usual warning from UAC. When I select 'Allow' I get an error message along the lines that "I don't have permission to access the startup disk" & the app will not run.
I have tried running it as administrator but the result is the same.
Does anyone know how to rectify this so that I can get this utility working correctly again?
    Thanks

On the disk Management I tried to set the disk with the OSX partition as active and restarted, and ended up having Missing Operating System error.
Fortunately I managed to solve that problem but still I am unable to switch back to Mac.
Help is needed and much appreciated

  • Boot Camp utilities disappear from Windows 8.1

    Hey,
I've done a search, maybe not for the right terms, and have only found responses that are quite old and deal with Windows 7; this may be the same issue but I can't tell.
I have a(n) nMP, and have successfully installed Windows 8.1 on a Boot Camp partition.  Thing is, all of the Boot Camp stuff is now gone.  I was just going to restart back into OS X, and I looked for the little taskbar icon for Boot Camp and it's not there.  I looked through the system and have searched and I apparently no longer have anything called anything like Boot Camp in the Windows partition, but it's working great. Zero issues.
I can restart and hold down Option and choose which system to use to start up, no problem.
Do I need to re-install the Boot Camp stuff somehow?  How on earth did this happen; could it be a result of downloading the AMD Fire Pro utilities and latest drivers (which seem to work a heck of a lot better than whatever was installed from Boot Camp)?
Following up to that, if I do reinstall the Boot Camp utilities somehow, will I lose my updated graphics drivers?
    Hmm.
Thanks in advance, if I missed a thread about this, please feel free to point me in the right direction.

    Dear,
After a long moments fighting again Bootcamp and Windows 8.1, i have already install all drivers for 8.1... If you guy wanna try, follow this step:
    1. Boot Camp 5.0
    2. Open Boot Camp folder and manually install 1 by 1.
Especially for VGA Driver, you can try this driver (download on NVDIA site): 332.21-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql
Hope that will be useful to you guy.

  • Upgrading to Boot Camp 5.0 from 4.1: Would it require a re-install of Windows (Win7 SP1)?

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini (OS X 10.8.3) with Boot Camp 4.1 and Windows 7 SP1 installed. I mainly work on Win7 and would like to continue doing so. My question is: Would upgrading to Boot Camp 5.0 require me to re-install my Win7 or does it work like a simple update? I certainly do not want to waste any time having to re-install my copy of Windows and all my content as it is working fine, but would like to install the latest Boot Camp drivers if it is no problem doing so.

Thanks mate, update to Boot Camp 5.0 done! Had a issue at first which didn't let me run the update, but this was resolved by downloading (from Apple's support website) and re-installing my (now previous) BC4.1 drivers again. Think it has something to do with the previous BootCamp.msi file that allows the BC4.1 drivers to be uninstalled first before updating to BC5.0. Got that tip from a diffrent question thread on the support website. Anyway, thereafter running the BC5.0 update was no problem. Takes a little while for everything to get fully updated on the next restart, but all good. Cheers.

  • Boot Camp error: The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.

    Hi!
    I am getting the error:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.  The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
I read up some on google, but all of them says that they have crated a partition and that is the problem, I only have the standard "Macintosh HD".
I tried to create a partition manually in disk utility but then the error message: "Partition failed with error message: Could not unmount disk."
Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy.
    Thanks.

This message, and threads like yours got asked daily for over two years, now it is only a couple times a week!!
Is it so hard to follow through? you were to have backup already, clones are best, then erase/format and restore.
    Then partition.
Some have been able to use Disk Utility booted from OS X DVD or another drive, and repair the drive.
You have to use Boot Camp Assistant (99.9% anyway) to create and achieve a proper Windows Master Boot Record partition.

  • Why can't the Boot Camp Utility find my Installer Disk?

I'm trying to use Windows 7 Proffesional on my MacBook Pro (running on Mountain Lion) with Boot Camp, but whenever I am partitioning on the Boot Camp Utility it tells me that the Windows Installer Disk cannot be found. I have been able to get Windows 7 free from my college and it was all digital so I did as suggested and burned the .iso file that was downloaded to a DVD-R. When prompted I put the burned disk into my disk drive. I can find the disk in Finder and it shows that the .iso was burned successfully but the Boot Camp Utility will not detect it. I'm not sure what I have left to do, but I would like to get this problem resolved. Any suggestions?

I tried burning the ISO to a disk on the slowest (2.4 is the slowest offered on my computer) twice. Both times the burns didn't give me any error messages and the ISO was found on the disk, but Boot Camp Utility still will not detect the disk.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Boot camp not working in windows installer

When I install windows 7 I get to the select partition section. I get a message after selecting the right one saying "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information." Not sure what to do from here. Anyone have advice?

    Boot camp assistant, delete/remove windows
Restart machine and do a pram reset
Open disk utility, repair permissions twice and confirm that you only have 1 partition on your drive
Restart bca, check all 3 items (create, DL, install)

  • 2007 MBP 10.7.2 - Boot Camp "Can't Install Windows Support Software"

For a few weeks now I've been trying to get Boot Camp going to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro.  Whenever I go through the assistant, I always get the message "Can't install Windows Support Software becuase it is not currently available from the Software Update server".
The download bar does progress a bit as data is being downloaded, but then stops at about 15% and gives me that error message.   Any ideas?

From what I've read the "Download Update" option as you install Lion only works for some MBAirs and it's a hit or miss on all others. (mostly a miss).
You might do a Search on the error you get as there are quite a few discussions on those problems.

It is difficult to understand your issue from your discription. I have three suggestions.
    1. Visit the Boot Camp forum. You posted in the Mac Book Pro forum about your Boot Camp issue. The Boot Camp gurus hang out in the Boot Camp form. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp
    2. Read the Boot Camp installation guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
    3. Do not post personal information such as phone numbers in public forums.

  • Boot Camp 3.0 and Windows 7 64-bit - My experiences/notes

I just installed Boot Camp 3.0 from the Snow Leopard DVD onto my MacBook Pro 17 (Mid 09) which is running Windows 7 64bit RTM and had Boot Camp 2.1 previously installed on it.
    My experiences/notes:
    1. The Boot Camp 3.0 installation automatically removed the Boot Camp 2.1 drivers that it was going to update and then installed the newer 3.0 ones
    2. You still can only use the GeForce 9600M GT graphics chipset, i.e. only the 9600M GT shows to windows and appears in the device manager
    3. Deferred Procedure Calls (DPC) Latency issues still exist although it doesn't seem like you need to run the Bootcamp.exe on CPU 0 affinity only (Bootcamp.exe = the updated/Boot Camp 3.0 version of KbdMgr.exe)
    4. You still can't fully dim the keyboard backlight with the F5 key
    5. I manually updated the 'important' drivers to the very newest one, i.e.
5a. Latest Nvidia driver for GeForce 9600M GT => 186.81notebook_win7_winvista_64bit_internationalwhql.exe
5b. Latest WLAN chip driver => Broadcom (4322AG chipset) Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista 5.10.91.8 (14 May 2009) = sp43743.exe
5c. Lateset Realtek High Definition Audio Codec => VistaWin7R231.zip
    6. Although I still have bad DPC latency, I haven't yet noticed any audio/video lag/drop-outs/screeches etc.
Best of luck to you all and I hope this helps someone, Dingle7

    Hi all,
Here are the links for the latest 'important' drivers:
5a. Latest Nvidia driver for GeForce 9600M GT => 186.81notebook_win7_winvista_64bit_internationalwhql.exe

NOTE: You will need to manually update the drivers in the windows device manager (select 4322AG chipset) because the installer doesn't overwrite the old drivers from Boot Camp

  • Boot camp assistance to install windows 8

im using a macbook pro 13-inch late 2011 with mac os x 10.7.2 which has bootcamp 4.i want to install 64-bit windows 8 on my mac.i found out you need boot camp 5 to install it.can i install windows 8 on bootcamp 4 and then update to boot camp 5 when running windows?or do i have to update to bootcamp 5 beforehand?if so,how do i do that?

From Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
    Requirements for all Windows installations
In order to install Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, you need the following:
    An Internet connection
An administrator account in OS X to use Boot Camp Assistant
The keyboard and mouse or trackpad that came with your Mac (If they aren’t available, use a USB keyboard and mouse)
A minimum of 2 GB of RAM, 30 GB of free disk space are recommended if you are installing Windows for the first time, or 40 GB of free disk space if you are upgrading from a previous version of Windows
An authentic Microsoft Windows full install disc or ISO file
A built-in optical drive, or a compatible external optical drive is required if you are using an install disc
8 GB USB storage device, or external drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) to install the downloaded drivers

I have a mac book pro with Boot Camp that also runs windows.  I upgraded to Lion and now the mac side crashes/freezes periodically, especially iphoto.  I am told by the genius' that I probably need to "clean" it and reinstall lion using the "recovery drive" which resets everything back to default and reinstalls the lion operating system.  My question is will this also delete the "windows" partition drive and all that data too.  If so that will be a huge pain in the ___ to back up and reinstall boot camp and windows. I want to shoot the lion.

There is no system like Acronis for the Mac platform. You can try using the buiilt in Disk Utility to create an Image of the complete Mac drive but I have found that this does not work very well as on tryiing to restore it gives errors sometimes.
You can use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable Clone of your system partition. But that is only for the System partition and not the complete drive.
If you use Boot Camp to install Windows on your Mac neither of those two programs will clone the Windows side.
Neither will Disk utility as Mac's can not create or write to a NTFS partition. So some other program is need for that.
