Boot camp utility won't load windows 7 off usb or the dvd i burn the iso file too.

have a copy of windows 7 i will be using with a company i have joined who are microsoft partners. The copy of windows is alrready loaded with everything needed so dnt have to worry about cd key etc.

Thanks Svet for the tip.    One stick of ram booted and one did not.  I can't believe I had not tried that yet!!!  I have read that Windows 7 is picky about ram.
I had just purchased the mobo/chip combo, ram, hard drive & blu-ray/dvd from a Fry's B & M in town. It was raining here and the saved money was going to be spent! The price was right for the mobo combo.
I did not check the compatibility of the ram and the mobo which was a mistake.
After purchasing, I noticed on the ram package, that it says "for i5 & i7" and have also read about timing issues with AMD boards and some certain ram sticks.
Corsair's website has this ram listed as the value select line.  Not processor specific but lifetime warranty.  Maybe just a bum stick.
I'm bringing the ram back tonight. (Fifteen day return policy sticker on package.)  Not sure if I should swap for another package or not.  I'm checking to see what they have that could work better.
Thanks again, Robert

  • K8T (MS 6702-020) Goes thru the boot screens, but won't load Windows!

My computer was running fine and turned off normally the last time it worked. The next time I tried to turn it on it would go thru the boot pages, but as soon as the Windows screen came on the computer reboots. It won't boot in "safe" mode or from CD either. I have exhausted my knowledge and need some help to determine my problem.
I definitely could have missed something or did something wrong in what I have tried, so starting from the beginning on any troubleshooting would be appreciated.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Satellite M55-s3293 won't load windows xp

my Satellite M55-s3293 won't load windows xp.  I press the power button, the fan runs for a few seconds, than I see the toshiba screen and it freezes.  I get a message to press f2 to enter setup, f12 for boot device selection menu.  I've gone into both menu's, to no avail.
If I wait for a minute or so, I get a message saying that windows did not start sucessfully .  I have options to start in safe mod, last known good config, or normally.  I've tried each of those selections, but get the same frozen toshiba screen with message to select f2 or f12.  my cd drive will not open to allow me to try a recovery disk.
Do you have any suggestions for me please.
    Thanks

Hello Jane and welcome in Toshiba forum
After reading your posting I must say that best and easiest solution for you is to reinstall operating system using original Toshiba recovery DVD. This DVD contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities. After recovery image installation you will have out-of-box state and clean preinstalled OS.
Yes, this should fix your problem. Please note: when you do this all saved data will be deleted.
Do you have some important data saved on your notebook?
If not use this disc reinstall Vista and everything should be ok again.

  • OS Mavericks - Boot Camp Assistant can not download windows support software because it is "not currently available from the Software Update server."

When trying in install windows 7 on my mac, the Boot Camp Assistant attempts to fownload windows support software.  However, the program continues to return the following error: the windows support software "not currently available from the Software Update server."
Is there another way to get this software?

64 bit.  I found the support drivers and got the windows installation done.  When trying to run the 64 bit support drivers in Windows 7, it says my computer doesn't support 64 bit.  Sooooo.....
I'm assuming I have to download the 32 bit support drivers for Windows 7.
    Correct?

  • Unable to update Boot Camp to 3.1 on Windows XP

I'm trying to fix the scrolling issues with the Magic Mouse by updating to 3.1 on the Windows XP side, but it says I must have version 3.0 first. According to my Mac I'm running v3.0.4. Does that mean that Windows is running the same version? I would assume so.
And I'm not finding a Boot Camp version 3.0 for Windows.

Have you tried updating the Mac software in XP, Control Panel/Scheduled Tasks/AppleSoftwareUpdates ?
If you did then go here, try downloading the 3.1 and 3.2 updates, 64 OR 32 bit, and see if you can manually install them: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macoscomponents
You don't mention what computer you have so take a look at the rest of the downloads as there are a few computers that have a specific updater for similar trackpad, etc, problems.

    Hi Guys,
For some reason Boot Camp Assistant won't read my Windows 7 Professional x64 Installation DVD? It appears in Finder, however there is only 1 readme.txt file on the disc in Finder. I had Boot Camp set up and working on my Macbook for almost a year but had to remove it and start again, so I can't understand why all of a sudden it can't seem to load any Windows DVD's? I even tried my Windows 7 Home Premium disc but again, the same message keeps popping up that I need to insert my installation disc and wait a few seconds for it to be recognised
Can someone pretty, pretty, possibly please help me out here in some way?

  • Boot Camp Utility Missing From Windows 7

    Hi all,
I'm running an 8-core Mac Pro blah blah blah with 3x1t hard drives. I've used the Boot Camp utility to make one of those 1t hard drives into windows 7.  This worked perfectly, in fact I'm currently typing from Windows 7. However...
When I've done this previously there was always a Boot Camp utility within Windows 7 (in the bottom right of my task bar) which allowed me to switch back from Windows 7 to Mac, and vise versa... This time the Boot Camp utility within Windows 7 which allows me to go back to Mac has disappeared ... I'm stuck in Windows 7!
Any idea why this might be? And how I can might download Boot Camp or something to rectify this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Your OS X 10.6 DVD has the 3.0.4 drivers and you would then need to update 3x to get to 3.3
So do you or did you get to 3.2 at least? 3.0 and 3.1 were buggy.
Mounting and accessing HFS drive volumes was also causing BSODs; and does not work when there are Apple array volumes.
There is also and better place to look is control panels: Boot Camp with its own startup disk section
'x' on startup = Mac OS
Check Services and startup items. You should have
    OSSwitcher
Apple TimeServices (without which time will be off every time you switch OS)
Programs control panel: Boot Camp there? try Repair.
Lion allows downloading Boot Camp 4.x driver from Boot Camp Assistant to put on USB device or elsewhere that you access in Windows.
www.apple.com/support/bootcamp guide faq how to articles etc
Maybe you have a corrupt system and time to do a chkdsk and also boot from Windows DVD and allow it to do system repair or restore from a good check point

  • My boot camp 4 won't make dvd from windows 7 iso

Help! why is the option to make install dvd from 1so file greyed out?

For some reason it doesn't see the .iso as a burnable disk or it doesn't "see" the iso at all. Is it really an .iso or did you download the .exe by mistake? The .exe can only be used while booted in Windows.
Is it an upgrade version, you need the full version for Boot Camp Assistant?
You may have to be logged as an Administrator?
You can burn it yourself first with "Disk Utility" at 2x only speed if you can't get it going.
Heres a link for more information. Here's an excerp from@Noble Seven's response:
Ok, that is wrong. To burn the iso to a disk, you first need to open the Disk Utility program, which is in the Utilities folder in Applications. If your cd is inside the computer, you should see it in the left pane. Select it. At the top, you will see the biohazard symbol that says "Burn". Select that, and find the iso file on your computer, and burn it.
    It should now work fine.
With the Retail Upgrade DVD version, (in 10.6) I could still do a clean install. I don't know if you can with a burned "Upgrade" iso image.

  • Boot Camp Assistant Won't Work....

I've been wrestling with this for two days now (along with my very technically adept brother). I'll try to offer as much information as possilble. I've scoured this and other online forums without success. Here goes:
Early 2011 MBPro/ 7500rpm HItachi dry/ OS 10.8.3 / no updates in queue....recent clean install of OS at Apple store ~2 mo. ago (due to battery issue).
Placed BootCamp partition on mac ~6/ 2012....easy install and worked flawlessly. Used Amazon purchased legal copy of Windows 7 (64 bit OEM System Builder Pack, CD which included Service Pack #1; purchased sometime early 2011). Downloaded all required updates (then and with continued booting into Windows). Installed Stream/ Origin and 4 games (CoD, Portal etc.). Worked fine without a hitch. Two Mac side extensions added for use: Boot Champ for quick changing of OS and gfxCard Status (to control Mac OS side video card choice). NO PROBLEMS with extensive use!
This week: exchanged out Hitachi driive with Samsung SSD (512gb 840 PRO) after extensive online research (in particular MacOS Rumors which has long thread for this SSD. Note: Apple uses the Samsung 830 series SSD in rMBPs). Used CCC (CarbonCopyCloner). Single partition/ Mac OS Extended(Journaled). No problems with OS and SSD. Went to set up Boot Camp partition (note; NOT to reinstall windows; I just want the partition to WinClone my partition contents from the Hitachi over to the Samsung. Many on other sites using the same SSD have been able to do this....some have had issues akin to mine. Problem: BCA (Boot Camp Assistant) only offers two options: download Windows software (drivers etc.) or re-install Windows 7. I of course I only need the first. However, after (~20) trys the download still hangs (~half/way). When I quit and check the target USB: empty, not even fragments. Have tried with at least 6 USB (8gb) drives of 4 different manufactures....no change. Have reformated the USB drives (MS DOS/Fat32 ...all Disk Utiilty offers) no change. Was on phone with Apple Technical today, tried a few things but couldn't get the download to perform (removed all other USB devices from MBP/ tried using Ethernet to router etc. ..) They will get back to me tomorrow. NOTE: Apple Technical DOES offer BootCamp Support!
Have tried using my Win7 disk to make .dmg and converted it to .iso and place iso files on desktop and into destination USB drive: no luck
Tried to use my Hitachi as start-up disk then try to partition the SSD: no go
Tried to use my original OSX.6 disks.....won't take/ work on my MBP now (I think due to previous firmware updates).
Saw some tidbits online that since I had first used BCA that Apple had revised it and its options?
One thing that my brother and I noticed: when he tries to use BCA on his 2012 rMBPro (Samsung 830 SSD) he is offered a third ( the first ) option: ' Remove or resize (?) current partition'. May just be because he already has a partition and I don't.
I will post other 'tries' as I remember them or try them. I suspect that at the end of this road a 'clean sweep/swipe/re-format/ re-install' etc. may be the last attempt but I've seen enough of this issue on line that a simple process (if discovered) would come in handy: many of us often change out internal drives and will probably continue to have Boot Camp partitions ( also: my SSD was placed on the 6gb supported SATA as the original HD).
So: any ideas, suggestions or (online forums to check )etc. would be much appreciated .....and not just by me!
Sorry for the long post but wanted to give as much information on the first pass as possible.
    Thanks.....

    Follow up:
Used WinClone to make image of my Boot Camp  partition form former internal HD (conneceted via USB /2.) Very slow/ but if you track with your cursor you can see slight change, took about 2-3- hrs. Note: told WinClone REPLACE BCD file ( 1 of 2 options given during image production(see notes at WinClone site).....
Previously, and now, did not use (from WinClone site; 'twocanoes') instructions to use ' Sysprep' program in windows prior to making my image (had been reading from a different instruciton set).....
    Sequence:
    1. PRAM reset (at least 3 consecutive times/new USB drive).
2, Created partition..Did NOT re-install Windows..When it asked( after it had NTFS prepared the Boot camp partition (?)..... I quit the applicatation and checked that the partition had been made (disk utility/ also...about this Mac...).
    3. Used WinClone (2.4)...new USB drive...did not use Sysprep route (on 'twocanoes site'  this is instructed);       cloned from 'Boot camp'  icon deposited on my desk top when I mounted my old HD using USB 2 .
    4. Did not 'keep' Memory Caches' when offered prior to imagining ...
    5. Saved boot camp image (image on new SSD drive from former HD drive via USB 2 (former drive showed
'MacHD (or whatever your name is for your drive ) as well a 'former' BootCamp drive Icon.
6.Took awhile....restored to new Boot Camp Partition via WinClone instrucitons.....
And: Worked. No Window Id or or authetication asked for ; Windows desk top looked identical as from previous HD; STEAM and ORIGIN immediately updated....chedkced into each for a game : all settings perfect....not asked to ID or change anything.....just faster!
    Hope this helps someone.....!

  • Boot-camp assistant won't recognize my DVD-RW

So I have put a DVD-RW on so it could burn the Windows 7 to my DVD. I've seen a lot of answers to this question but it doesn't quite work.
I've a iMac 21' and tried to do this quite many times. What I do is I put the DVD in, start installing and then it automatically burn the DVD for me, but after I chose the partition for the Windows it won't install it further and gives me a error about my DVD is not inside and it takes a few seconds for it to recognize the DVD, but I've been waiting for a long time. Any solutions?

The "lot of answers" all usually have one thing in common:
Burn Windows 7 or 8 ISOs are the slow 2x speed possible w/ verify.
Anything else with using Disk Utility to do the burn or even BCA do fail.
Copy the ISO to your disk and try using that to write the ISO to (another) USB device.
    Instructions for the Air: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4407
download a free iso burning program for Mac (we used SimplyBurns Mac).
That program runs you through the necessary steps to properly burn the iso file you need.
After doing so, Bootcamp recognized the installation file and everything worked as it should.

If for some reason you downloaded Windows from Microsoft instead of buying a package with a disc, you need to download the ISO version and burn it to a DVD. See this article on downloading the ISO:

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.
The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed WindowsLogo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New HardwareWizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed WindowsLogo testing, click Continue Anyway.
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.
    To reinstall a specific driver:
1 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
2 Quit AutoRun if it opens.
3 Using Windows Explorer, locate the driver that you want to reinstall.
4 Open the driver to start the installation.

  • Satellite L300 laptop won't load Windows

I have a Satellite L300 model number PSLB0A-00L022 running windows Vista.
The problem is that it won't load Windows. It starts ok and I can access the boot manager and the setup utility and that's it. It just stops loading.
After researching the problem I ran a drive fitness test and the result was error code 0x70. After looking up the code Im under the impression that I need to erase the disk. I have no problem with that.
My question is - if I run the windows recovery wizard will it fix my problem? Will I have to re install vista at all? Any advice is appreciated!!

  • Boot Camp Assistant won't work - keeps asking me to use Software Update.

I am trying to use Boot Camp to install Windows but my Boot Camp Assistant won't work - it keeps asking me to use Software Update. So, even though I know everything is up to date, I start Software Update and it confirms that indeed everything is up to date. I try Boot Camp Assistant again, but the same message appears. I search every possible Boot Camp upgrade to download from Apple but they are all .exe files and need Windows to run, so those don't seem to be what I need. So I am caught in a circle of nothing working. Figures - the ONE weekend I need to install Windows and use a Windows-based program!!! And of course Apple support is closed over the weekend - another great asset to spending thousands of dollars on a product. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I too am having a similar problem. I am trying to install Windows in a newly created Boot Camp partition. I have Windows 7 but Boot Camp Assistant only mentions XP and Vista. I put in my installation disk of Windows 7 but it refuses to install it. My OS is fully up to date.

  • Why can't the Boot Camp Utility find my Installer Disk?

I'm trying to use Windows 7 Proffesional on my MacBook Pro (running on Mountain Lion) with Boot Camp, but whenever I am partitioning on the Boot Camp Utility it tells me that the Windows Installer Disk cannot be found. I have been able to get Windows 7 free from my college and it was all digital so I did as suggested and burned the .iso file that was downloaded to a DVD-R. When prompted I put the burned disk into my disk drive. I can find the disk in Finder and it shows that the .iso was burned successfully but the Boot Camp Utility will not detect it. I'm not sure what I have left to do, but I would like to get this problem resolved. Any suggestions?

I tried burning the ISO to a disk on the slowest (2.4 is the slowest offered on my computer) twice. Both times the burns didn't give me any error messages and the ISO was found on the disk, but Boot Camp Utility still will not detect the disk.
    Any other suggestions?
