Boot-camp Win XP SP3 Sound Device drivers incompatible

Hi,
I have recently installed windows XP on boot camp and installed all the correct software, but the sound card does not work! I installed the boot camp software on XP from the Leopard DVD and everything worked fine except the sound. I then installed the recent update for boot-camp 2.1 from "Apple Software update" hoping that this would solve the problem. It didn't. I then went back to the Leopard DVD and explored through the installers in there. I knew that the Sigmatel driver was missing, so I ran the installer for that from the CD. The installation seemed to work, and it asked me to restart, so I did, when windows came back up again the installer popped up to complete the installation but half way through, an error message came up and told me that "The driver you are trying to install is incompatible with this version of windows. Click OK to end the setup". I then tried going into Device manager and manually installing the drivers from the Sigmatel directory. yet another message stopped me "This file does not contain information about the device you are trying to install" and clicking ok takes you back to driver selection. I then thought about trying the installer for Realtek and went through the same process, this time the installer finished correctly but the driver was still not present, so back to device manager again. In the Realtek folder there were at least a dozen files containing drivers, so i tried them all, without success and seeing the "does not contain information about the device" message.
If anyone knows how to help, plz do. Thanks

  • MacBook Pro Boot Camp Windows XP-SP3 Win only restarts boot to black screen

i have a new install of 10.6.1 w/boot camp running an sp3 updated xp version. I have completed the same install on a more new MacBook Pro 15" with no issue, however my mbp 2.33Ghz aluminium has restart problems but ONLY when doing a "restart" from the running xp os. again only when i am running from xp alone, and only when doing a restart (which is all the **** time for xp) does my mbp 1st do a normal apple chime and then hang to a black screen.
once i power down, hit the power button and restart, do i get a normal blue/grey screen, apple chime and the option to boot to macos or my windows partition. the same restart when running macos brings the grey/blue screen up right away.
seems to me there must be something off about doing a restart from windows.
has anyone seen this? any recommendations for diagnostics or a solution would be most appreciated!

never mind, i blitzed the xp drive and reinstalled. 3rd times a charm

  • Boot Camp - Lion / Mountain Lion latest video drivers Win 7 64-bit

I've been running Boot Camp on my late 2008 Mac Pro w/ OS X Lion and Windows 7 64-bit for some time now, no probs.  Two years ago I installed the Apple version of the Nvidia GT 120 video card...has been working like a charm.  Currently all latest OS updates are applied.
At issue: I'm trying to get a new plug-in for After Effects to install and it requires a more up-to-date video driver than the circa 2010 driver installed w/ Boot Camp (Leopard?).  When I upgraded to Lion, I assumed all latest drivers would be installed in Boot Camp, and I've seen no info on whether Mountain Lion would provide more current video drivers...running 'Update Driver' (just to see what would happen) within Windows 7 yields "You're using the latest driver", which is not actually correct, but may be in the 'Boot Camp ecosystem'.
Are there any ways I can reliably update the video drivers?  I know the retail/Nvidia latest is "296.10" from March, 2012...but likely that won't install or work properly in a Boot Camp setup (or am I wrong?).
Any info/ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Wait for GTX 670 down the road then.
You had to have used BCA, downloaded and then run the setup - you can even just navigate to, find Nvidia driver folder and check the Details of that. Or why bother, the real driver is Nvidia anyway.

Also, most every Mac Pro owner has needed to manually download and install RealTek driver too for audio out the back ports.
Go to www.realtek.com though instead of using MediaFire - they have started causing a lot of pop-unders and other adware that I find disgusting and questionable, even if the site and service needs "ad dollars" popups were something users ran from and why we (try) using and turning off all those things they manage to find ways around. And the malware/adware and SQL-injection schemes are still with us. So watch for and personally avoid MediaFire - might be paranoid but then I consider it reasonable caution.

  • Macbook Air July 2013 freezes (Boot camp Win 7 Pro)

    Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue? I am running win 7 pro 64bit sp1 with the latest boot camp drivers (updated via osx boot camp utiliy a few days ago) and all windows updated up to date. Everything works fine and has installed, but at least once every day the whole computer just freezes up and becomes non responsive. All I can do is power it off and do a hard reset. This is on a brand new July 2013 Macbook Air 13" with a 512gb PCIe Samsung SSD.
I have taken it into Apple to take a look at, but they refuse to acknowledge the problem saying it is a software issue with Windows. They did their diag tests in-store and everything came up ok. But the funny thing is, the laptop still freezes every day! And all the errors point to a hardware issue.
Anyway, I did a bit of googling and from the sounds of it it is most likely a faulty motherboard/controller chip. I just wanted to hear from others out there if they were able to fix it any other way other than getting a replacement laptop? Are there any diag tools that I can run to see if the SSD controller is faulty?
Here are the errors I keep getting
    Event ID 11
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR3
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR6
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR5
Some other errors which I think could be related
taskhost (2744) WebCacheLocal: A request to write to the file "xx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\V01.log" at offset 184320 (0x000000000002d000) for 151552 (0x00025000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (2451 seconds) to be serviced by the OS. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\4&1df6a035&0.

I don't think that PCIe which is only Samsung device would use any other NAND.
I do think Apple is responsible to provide drivers and enable AHCI mode for it to function properly.
Was concerned that too many people give far too little space to Windows partition. And that they don't set aside the 11% that Samsung Magician would recommend setting if it could.
I first read about the MBA and its new SSDs here:
2013 MacBook Air Disassembled and Benched - Samsung 256GB PCIe SSD ...
    And Samsung PR:
    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/news-events/press-releases/ detail?newsId=12921
    > Samsung started providing the new SSD to major notebook PC makers earlier this quarter. The XP941 lineup consists of 512, 256 and 128GB SSDs.
So no matter what size it is still going to be Samsung NAND all the way through.
PCI Express-based SSDs for Ultrabooks, then. The new XP941 series uses PCIe's wider data path to read at nearly 1.4GB/s
    http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/17/samsung-makes-first-pcie-based-ssd-for-ultrab ooks/
So maybe searches on "XP941" can help turn up tips from around the net.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not support Bootcamp by Apple IOS operating system, but does work with boot camp Win 8.1 why"

Adobe Creative Cloud does not support APPLE latest IOS operating system, but does allow Windows 8.1 to be accepted. This seems a shame to me, as
Apple IOS is the leader in graphics, photography. The advertising states it is usable under both APPLE IOS and Microsoft 8.1 windows operating systems. Adobe Support Chat Sooraj tells me on 02/19/2015 that i must buy two computers to have it operate on both operating systems. Adobe will not support apple's Boot CAMP allowing both operating systems.
i love the apple product and love the ADOBE Photoshop CC, but it simply does now work with an apple keyboard and a WiN operating system. .[email protected]  Adobe Creative Cloud

In Thehatters defence, this was initially posted in the MacbookPro forum and then moved to Boot Camp,

  • Black/Blank Screen with Boot Camp Win 7 Install on new 27" iMac

I'm having a problem getting Windows 7 on a new 27" iMac and am familiar with the Boot Camp Windows installation process. Here's what I've done...
    1. Run Boot Camp from OSX, partition the drive.
    2. Insert Win 7 cd, proceed with installation.
    3. Computer restarts and the 'preparing for initial setup' message displays with the Win 7 splash screen. When it switches to where it should be displaying the Win 7 desktop, the screen is black.
I can hear the Mac still running, but there's no display. It's like it's waiting for some type of user input for the intial Windows setup (haven't yet entered the key).
I've done a hard shutdown and restarted Windows with the exact same result. After reboot, I get the 'Windows was not shut down properly' message with the 3 safe mode options, where choosing either gets me the 'Windows cannot complete setup in safe mode'. And any key reboots it.
The Mac side still runs fine and holding the option key at start up gives the Mac/Win boot options.
I'm inclined to think that it's a video driver issue since the 27" is brand new. Maybe Apple used a new video card for the larger screen and haven't updated the Boot Camp drivers. I checked on ATI's site for an updated driver for the Radeon HD 4670 they say is in the new 27" model that's currently available. (not the quad core)
Is there any workaround for this? I was thinking of installing Vista instead, and upgrading to Win7 once installed, but if it's a driver thing, it would just be a long way to the same result and could have the same problem with Vista as well.
    Any ideas?

I think I figured out what is happening here with the video drivers on the new iMac's and Win7. I believe it's re-directing the video to the mini display-port output when you see the screen go blank. I installed my Win7 x64 with no issues but I had an external monitor hooked up at the time and while it was installing the O/S my iMac went black but everything moved over to my external screen. Once it finished installing then everything went back to normal after a reboot.
Not sure if that helps anyone but pretty sure that's what is going on. So if you have another monitor handy, get the mini display-port adaptor from Apple and connect your external screen before you install Win7. Cheers!
P.S. If you have one of the new iMac's and want to install the latest Radeon drivers (after you have installed Win7 on your iMac), try the following. Download and install the drivers from ATI/AMD directly. They'll try to install and fail (no worries) but now the driver/install files will be unzipped into an ATI folder on your main Windows hard drive.
Now go to this site: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php and download the tool and use the Vista instructions listed on the main page of the URL above. You shouldn't need to download the MSXML 6.0 and I don't think you need to disable the UAC stuff like they suggest for Vista (I didn't) and it works fine. UAC is not nearly as intrusive on Win7 as it is in Vista so I think that's why it worked for me and pretty sure the MSXML 6.0 is already in Win7. Once the program has modified the mobile Radeon drivers then you can run "setup" from your ATI directory and the new drivers will finally install correctly including the Catalyst Control Center. Voila! I now have 9.10 drivers up and running on my new 27" iMac and working perfectly so far.

  • How do I fix my Internet on my Boot Camp Win 2008 R2 installation?

I have a brand new Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.2 and Boot Camp 5.0.1 and I got a legit copy of Windows Server 2008 R2  SP1 from my MSDN subscription. I installed it with Boot Camp and then updated the drivers with the Apple drivers BC supplied.
In Windows, everything works great except the internet. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it didnt help. I went into Device Manager and the ethernet adapter is properly installed. However, Bluetooth has a /!\ and so does an "Unknown Device." Everything that I have read about this says to reinstall the manufacturers drivers, but as I mentioned, that doesn't seem to get it working.
What do I need to do to get the Internet working? Is Server 2008 R2 supported by Boot Camp?

Windows Server 2008 is not supported. See the system requirements for Bootcamp and Windows. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899 .
Install Windows Server 2008 using a virtual machine like Parallels or Fusion.

  • Boot Camp / Win 7 (64-bit) install hangs at "windows loading files"

I was hoping I might get some help from the community. I've got the new MBP 15", 2.66/i7 and OS 10.6.3. I launch Boot Camp utility, assign a partition for Windows (76 GB in this case), insert the Win 7 disc (Home Premium 64-bit OEM I just bought) when prompted, and the laptop restarts.
It asks me to press any key to boot off the CD/DVD (screen color is blocked a bit oddly, but no worries). I press a key, screen goes black, and the message, "windows is loading files" appears. The white status bar below it progresses from the left all the way to the right, and then the whole process freezes before going to the next step.
I found another person's solution post on this here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=703045
I haven't tried it yet, because I don't understand if I have too format the whole drive or just a partition. I don't understand his solution completely, so I was hopeful someone could tell me if it even sounds like it might work or if there is another known solution.
    Thanks!

Thanks for including the details. Up front even better. Two different makes? AMD and Nvidia do not play together in Windows. 2 'extra' means 3 GPUs. Now there I would look at leaving just one.
What I meant to say was just leave the one drive where Windows will go, no other drives present - pull those sleds. And put Windows in bay #1.
Slowest burn speed, which is usually 2x but if 4x is the slowest setting, fine. Odd behavior and bad installs even when it does appear to.

  • MSI K9A2 platinum + Win XP sp3: hardware device yellow question mark

Hi; I finally got a working system (MSIk9a2 plat mobo was defective, many days wasted):
9ka2 plat with amd 9850 BE
     bios 1.5
     2x1Gb 1066 OC
WD velociraptor with OS Win XP sp3,
     2x ATI 4850 in X-fire
all latest drivers from MSI website downloaded and installed
...but I still have a yellow questionmark for a RAID-controller (situated in "PCI-slot 9, bus 3, device 0, function 0"). No driver on the original cd that came in the box would help, nor would the drivers I downloaded from MSI for this mobo make a change to this yellow questionmark. I did for sure install the SB600 raid drivers, because under "SCSI and RAID controllers" it shows that the AMD AHCI compatible raid-controller and the AMD RAID console have been correctly installed).
I suspect this issue is about the Promise raid controller chip, but I cannot find the driver.

You can the drivers from MSI web ==> http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1332

  • Have Imac with boot camp windows 7. Sound works great in mac but no sound in windows?

I have new IMAC 24 with snow leopard os and installed windows 7 ultimate 32 with boot camp. The sound works great when in MAC but there is no sound when boot up in windows. The mixers show a sound level as music is plaing but no sound out of speakers or earphones. I read on forum that many others have had same situation with Mac Book Pros and had success by downloading new realtec audio drivers, but my system has Cirius 2406 ab9 drivers and I can't find any replacements for them. Does anyone have a fix?

Keep on trying, keep searching as there are quite a few work around's for different issues.
One way is to reinstall the Boot Camp drivers and update them again via the Apple Software Updater in Windows. You did update them the first time, right?
Or extract the sound drivers from the Boot Camp package (or the DVD if you have it) and just install those again. You should find a few how-to's in the search results.
    Sorry I can't help more...

  • 3D Shutter Glasses for Boot Camp Win 7 Using the iMac i7?

Hello. I've tried anaglyph 3D gaming but do you have any recommendations on an affordable but good 3D shutter glasses that'll work great on the iMac's screen (i7 late 2009, 8GB). I plan to play games on it using Windows 7 64-bit. Other recommendations are welcome. Thank you in advance.

You may be seeing one aspect of the USB ports problem that some of us see: inability to see some USB printers at all, problem in working with the USB device for many minutes, and disabled USB services within virtual machines on a Boot Camp Windows host (VMware software not fully functional because of USB controller not quite right).
    See this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2411685&start=0&tstart=0
It looks like problems with the USB host controller, and it shows up for devices that run software to check the ports before trying to use them. I hope Apple eventually acknowledges the problem (going on since April at least) and fixes the firmware and/or Boot Camp drivers.

  • Slow video update with iSight on Boot Camp Windows XP SP3

I have the latest White Macbook with the NVidia Chipset. I have installed Windows XP SP3 via Boot Camp and all has gone fairly well. Only issue is iSight... It shows up in Devices as iSight and will open and initialise. However, the video preview is VERY slow. The picture updates every 10 seconds or so! It can take a still picture but any attempt to use as a video device (under Windows Movie Maker) causes a crash. Have used iSight under Boot Camp before, on earlier MacBooks with no such problem. It works fine under OSX. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Still no thoughts? If it helps, I've found out that if I use Windows Movie Maker and lower the resolution to the lowest available, iSight works fine. A clear preview is available and it will record video from the iSight. However, the original problems are still present when selecting the iSight icon from, "My Computer" or trying to use Windows Messenger. Anyone any ideas?

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) - Boot Camp/Win 7 - Num Lock Problem

    Hey,
I have a client who has a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) who is experiencing a problem when booted into Windows 7 via Boot Camp in that he cannot type certain character like # (hash character by keystroke alt + 3) without Windows 7 error bleeping at him. He needs the # character as part of his password for logging into webmail.
The Boot Camp setup has the latest Boot Camp drivers installed (this was a fresh Boot Camp setup/install today) and every other part of the hardware works I suspect that this problem is not a key mapping problem but more something to do with Windows registering Num Lock as being active.
If the problem is that Num Lock is enabled then what is the keystroke to disable Num Lock? I thought it was fn + 6 but did this change since the Unibody MacBooks?
I understand that there are ways of resurrecting number pad fuctionality as decribed in the MacWorld article (see link below) but this is a Mac OS X System Preference and as such would not operate when booted into Windows via Boot Camp.
