Boot Camp Windows 8.1 Installation Did Not Install Network Card

I just installed a Windows 8.1 Boot Camp partition on a new Mid 2013 MBA. The install ran the support software and installed the drivers. However I don't show any network cards in my Windows 8.1 installation. I reran the support sw manually and it went through and supposedly fixed any driver errors but I still don't see a network card or have a network connection. It works just fine in my OSX partition, so it is definately a driver issue. *** do I need to do to get the network driver installed?

Boot Camp partition created but W7 did not install?

On a late 2009 MB running Lion 10.7.2 with 2.26 Intel Core Duo I used Boot Camp to partition the drive and tried to install Windows 7 Enterprise w/SP1 (x64 and x86). The computer restarted in Lion and I can see the Boot Camp partition but I do not think W7 installed. When I restart and hold the option key there are only the MB and Restore drives available. Can I install W7 Enterprise? If so, any suggestions on how to proceed?

But I have never seen W7 Enterprise listed on either a compatible or incompatible list.

Actually figured it out and got it installed last night. Using Explorer now. What I ended up doing was inserting the W7 disk while in Mac. Then restarted the computer. At the chime I held the option key until MAC and Restore and W7 disk appeared. I selected W7 and Enter. It installed on the partition as intended.
I'm not sure why the Windows Installer didn't do this automatically? And, everytime the INSTALL rebooted the machine I had to hold the Option key to drive it to restart in Windows but that was it. And, when asked, I selected BootCamp partition, Format, and installed the x64 (not x86).
When the Windows Install completed I made a few tweaks in preferences then inserted the driver disk I burned during the Boot Camp partitioning process. There was an executable on it that I OKed and all my drivers were installed. Video, mouse, wifi...everything works like a champ.
I partitioned out 50GB because I wasn't sure. That's at least 10 and maybe 20GB more than needed. I don't intend to store much on this partition, just need it for access to some work sites and to try to teach myself C# (we'll see how that goes, the last programming I did was in Turbo Paschal).
I still haven't been asked for product keys. I assume that is coming after some period of time.

Windows 7 (64-bit) did not install scanner part of 1310 Series 1315xi.,,

Just bought 64-bit Windows 7, which detected and reInstalled my All-in-One's Printer and Copier, working well, so I don't want to buy new, but did not install Scanner. My 1310 Series installation disk was not for Windows 7, actually, nothing past Vista and XP, and Win 7 doesn't seem to be recognizing even new dIsks, taking it in tomorrow for a D-Drive. Is there a 1310 Series installation disk for Windows 7? My All-in-One is actually year 2004 , 1315xi, and when I bought it, only the Series disk would install it. The printing and copying equipment works so well that I do not want to buy a new printer. Would I have to first UnInstall the whole thing to use new installation disk to include Scanning? Thanks in Advance.

You need to have the TWAIN driver for the 1315xi in order to use the scanner.
There is no Windows 7 scanner software available from HP.

WIndows XP Media Center did not install totally

Hey guys and gals,
I had a new WinXP Media Center disc set to install into my Boot Camp. But, when installing into my new iMac flat screen all alum. computer, there is no way to eject the CD 'during' the installation of WinXP. Thus it only uses disc one for the install of XP.
One 'can' eject the CD by rebooting the computer (hold down the off switch in back) and when the screen color appears, hold down the left mouse click button. But, the Installation process 'restarts'. Thus getting 'disc two' to be installed isnt possible. (During the installation, Windows stops and says 'please install disc two and press enter when its ready, which you cannot do, so its stuck there. I finally found that hitting 'Escape' key 'continues' the process of loading WindowsXP).
So.. My question is, can Windows XP Media Center be loaded still? Or is it not possible.
By the way, I am loving this iMac. Never had one before. This is AWESOME!!! Very impressed with Leopard. Very impressed.

To my knowledge the MCE version has no update mechanism included for such a scenario.

What happens when you you run Windows and insert the MCE CD ?
Are you prompted with a possibility to update ?
If not, then my first assumption is correct and a complete reinstallation is your only choice.
Have a look at WinClone for a backup of your current XP installation.

Boot Camp 2.1 Update: Error, would not install

I tried to update my Boot Camp to 2.1.
The reasoning being, that my dimmer button, my volume button, etc does not work on my Windows Vista Ultimate Side.
Other short cut keys worked (i tried): ie: Print screen via 'fn'altF11, etc
However, when I installed it, the following message appeared.
"the installer encountered errors before Boot Camp could be configured.
To retry these operations at a later time, please run th installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer."
How can I install the Boot Camp 2.1 updater?
Please advise.

First, backup. Files and system with Ultimate's build-in programs or 3rd party.
run chkdsk for starters. you may want to dabble even more with msconfig and look at your logs, see if there are errors, what startup items and services are running.
I could not install BC 2.1 64-bit even though I have 64-bi9t OS and hardware, maybe because older Mac Pro has 32-bit EFI.
I'd look at uninstalling and reinstalling BC 2.0 and leave well enough alone and focus on just the small issues for now.
Oh, and WinClone is another method and free for backing up NTFS partitions from within OS X worth looking into.
I have not read of the error you got, off hand, that I recall reading.
I really think we need a BC 2.2 at this point in time.

Boot Camp 3.1.3 Update will not install

I have a new MacBook Pro 13-inch mid-2010 model, and I noticed that when I am in Windows 7 and try to use my headphones through the audio jack, I get no sound. I looked online here, found the 3.1.3 patch which claims will fix headphone sound, downloaded it, but when I went to install it, I got this error:
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
This is frustrating because I DO have Boot Camp 3.1.0 installed, which I assume is the version needed to upgrade, and Boot Camp IS installed. I also downloaded the 32-bit version as that is the version of Windows 7 I have, and just for jollies I tried the 64-bit version but that yielded the same error.
What am I doing wrong here? How can I install this patch? I would very much like to be able to have functional headphones. Thanks in advance.

Ok, so I installed drivers from the system restore disks that came with my laptop, and the error message changed, still doesn't work, but progress is good, right?
Now it says:
"The installed product does not match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronized, this action can not be performed.
Contact your administrator or product vendor for assistance. If there is a matching installation source, type it below or click Browse to locate it"
Now, what on earth does that mean? In the test box, the default path is "C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\Boot Camp 3.0.0\", which doesn't exist on my computer. When I click "browse" it lets me look for a .msi file, which I cannot find and do not know where to look for.
If I click OK, another error pops up saying:
"The file 'D:\Boot Camo\Drivers\Apple\BootCamp.msi' is not a valid installtion package for the product Boot Camp Services. Try to find the installtion package 'BootCamp.msi' in a folder from which you can install Boot Camp Services"
Please, please, please, if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, Iwould be very obliged. Thanks again in advance!

When I re-installed iTunes, it said it did not pass the "Windows Logo" testing for Windows XP. It did not install everything because of this. How do I fix this?

This is why it does not recognize my iPod Classic (it can't sync my iPod because it can't be found). Why does the Windows Logo test fail for Windows XP when trying to re-install iTunes?

On an XP system, that can indicate trouble with the Windows OS dlls associated with Cryptographic services.
I'd first try the fixit from the following Microsoft document.

I have purchased a new Imac 27" latest model with Mavericks pre-installed. I am trying to install windows 8.1 pro with original disc 64 bit in Boot camp assistant 5.1. I am using a usb dvd writer to read windows disc. I have rebooted into the windows installer after mac finised downloading the windows support software into my 64 gigabyte flash drive which is formatted in ms dos fat 32 format. I made it too "Where do you want to install windows" screen but problem is there are no drives showing at all to select. The space where you usually see four partition drives with the bottom one named Boot camp, that space is totally empty showing that there is no internal hard drive at all....simply shows a error at the bottom can not find any drive. Please Help!!!!!!
The mac os is running fine if i restart the mac and cancel windows installation. I have gone into boot cam assistant to delete the windows partition and retry but the same problem prisists. Plz help.

*BOOT CAMP* Windows XP not picking up wireless signal on Lion

I just got a new iMac two days ago and was able to install Windows XP from my old Dell Latitude boot disk. Yes, I thought it was odd... But it worked. I do understand that Lion only provides Windows 7 drivers in Boot Camp Assistant, but I was able to install Boot Camp 3.0 and 3.1 drivers for XP, right from the Apple Support Boot Camp driver link.
Well... My main issue lies here... When I switch to the XP side, it wont pick up a wireless signal. That's all I need so that I can start updating Windows from the internet, but it is not picking anything up.
I'm assuming that I am just missing the driver, but like I said, I installed the drivers provided by Apple. This is very frustrating and am not sure what to do.
Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

This appears to be a problem with some of the newest MacBooks. There are several posts on this issue. It is possible that, as you seem to have noticed, switching to an NTFS formatted partition will solve the problem. See e.g. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5947955&#5947955

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

Intel vt-x not supported on boot camp windows 7 (virtualbox and microsoft detection tool)

I've a MBP mid-2010 that is running a Windows 7 Pro as boot camp partition (business needs).
I've installed virtualbox on the Windows 7 OS, but I can't access the "accelration" tab under the system settings.
When running an imported OVA system (that uses Intel VT-x) I get an error message saying :
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able to boot."
Using the Microsoft® Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool, I get the confirmation that it is not available on my computer.
Which is really strange because it is working perfectly under Mac Os X Mavericks (and previous).
Anyone has an idea ?

I have this exact same issue, except I'm trying to use Hyper-V in Windows 8.1. Windows is running via Bootcamp 5, I have a late 2013 Macbook pro model.
I get the error message Hyper-V cannot be installed: Virtualization support is disabled in the firmware.
After poking around online, most information points to the Mac EFI firmware. It might be an update is available there that will help with VT-X

However, there's no update for my particular Macbook. I've only found one workaround that I don't really know how/why it works.
1. Power off my macbook, completely shut down.
2. Hold the option key to boot into OSX Mavericks instead of Windows.
3. Restart from OSX and let Windows boot by default.
For some odd reason, VT-X is now enabled. This may be specific to my Mac. It's a Macbook Pro 2013, 15'' - '11,3' model.

Boot camp Windows 8.1 new rMBP / Mavericks

So, my shiny new 13" retina MBP (first Mac product) arrived Thursday and I decided yesterday would be the day I'd Bootcamp Windows 8.1.
I had a plethora of issues, some of which I got through by mining the interweb for info, but one stumped me altogether. I thought I'd share the experience/story to a) hopefully help out other users and b) see if anyone can help me complete the process (What follows is something of an unsuccinct summary of 3 hours of my life. Should you be busy or have anything else to do, feel free not to get bored reading it and then lambast me in the comments for wasting so much of your time):
Ingredients:
1off 13" retina MBP running OSX 10.9, which I've affectionately named "Tom" (Maverick -> Top Gun -> Tom Cruise) ... anyway
1off MSDN 64bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise Edition .iso
1off 8gb USB stick
Method:
- Loaded Boot Camp Assistant in Utilities
- Tried tried to load my .iso unto the memory stick
1st issue encountered:
     - Error: "Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use a ISO file for 64-bit Windows installation"
1st issue resolution:
     - Frustrated but undettered I repeatedly re-tried and even re-downlaoded the 64-bit .iso from MSDN. No joy. Some research on the net revealed that for Boot      Camp 5, native to Mavericks, will not support x32-bit Windows installs. For whatever reason, Bootcamp thinks my iso is 32-bit. Why? Christ knows. Solution?      Amend the info.plist file within Boot Camp Assistant as advised here. Now this spawned a      fang-toothed mini-issue of its own, as on changing the      info.plist file exactly as instructed, Boot Camp Assistant would now no longer work. Rather, it would tell me it has crashed and sent an error message back to      Apple ... grass.
     More research and a new solution: Get an older version of Boot Camp Assistant.
Tip - There is a difference between Bootcamp Support Software (Windows drivers etc) and a Boot Camp Assistant version. It took a couple of support software downloads before I discovered this.
     - Got hold of a version of Boot Camp 4, which seemed less princessy about whether my Windows iso seemed to be 32 or 64-bit, and started creating the      install on my USB stick.
2nd issue encountered:
     - Error: "Windows Support Software Not Available for Download"
2nd issue resolution:
     - Frustrated but undettered I tried a couple more times thinking perhaps the Apple server from which I was trying to download support software was having      some issues. Some more research revealed you can download the Support Software Packages yourself. At this point a penny dropped somewhere behind      my eyes. In my downloads folder was a Bootcamp 5.0.5 software package I'd previously downloaded mistakenly thinking it was a different version of Boot      Camp Assistant. Copied it onto a separate USB stick (having torn the house apart to find one). Deselected the middle option in Bootcamp 4 to download the      Support Software (drivers) and continued about my business.
- My new, amenable, version of BootCamp Assistant guided me through the setup process (partitioning the disc etc.) and after a reboot I eventually found myself looking at a Windows 8.1 setup screen. Success!! No... not yet...
- With Windows 8.1 installed I copied the Bootcamp 5 support folder (drivers) onto my Windows desktop and double-clicked the install.exe with a confidence that turned out to be entirely unwarranted as it provoked the following error...
3rd issue encountered:
     - Error: "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model"
3rd issue resolution:
     - Frustrated, I gently put my new Macbook down and went to get a whiskey (note: this is not advised). Having calmed my nerves I did some more research. I      tried Troubleshoot Compatibility and running as Admin solutions to no avail.
Tip - Transversing a Windows OS with no Mac keyboard/touchpad drivers is a challenge in itself. Shift F10 also functions as right-click, alternatively, have a USB mouse on hand.
     What did work, was navigating via a Command Prompt to the Bootcamp folder I'd copied to the desktop (various youtube videos exist on how to move around      folders in cmd if you don't know how) C:\...\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple\BootCamp.msi
     My drivers started installing. Success?!?! ...nearly
4th issue encountered:
     No wireless adapter detected
4th issue resolution:
     - Frustrated and now dehydrated, thanks to a Scottish single malt, I did some more internet mining and discovered this also was not a unique problem. I      managed to obtain a Windows 7 Broadcom driver for a different Mac network adapter (I couldn't at this point identify what type of network adapter was living      in unused hibernation under my keyboard somewhere, but for some reason the driver within the Bootcamp Support Software wasn't working). But sadly this      didn't work.
At this point I'd lost most of my evening and half of Strictly Come Dancing, and so decided to knock it on the head.
I hope that some of the above may prove useful for people struggling with one or two of the same problems; at the very least it's encouraging to know you're not the only one.
Regarding my situation, if there's a root cause to my problems (likely circulating around my own naivety or stupidity) I'd be very grateful for any help in identifying it, but please be patient; I'm not a tech guru, I'm literally just a guy with a new macbook and little computing experience.
Specifically I'd love some feedback or assistance as to how I might enable the Network Adapter in Windows - perhaps where I might find the driver specific to my machine?
In all, considering how many posts and articles there are from people struggling with Boot Camp, it doesn't seem like it fits the user friendly experience Apple markets itself on.

Please help with my Boot Camp/Windows problems

I need to install windows on to my iMac to continue a course I’m taking at uni. Sadly it’s been a nightmare so far.
I backed up all of my data and opened Boot Camp Assistant and tired to partition a section of my hard drive for windows. However it gave me an error each time I tired. After asking around I was told to buy idefrag and that should fix the problem - it didn’t. I was then told to format the hard disk and reinstall OSX. I did that and Boot Camp was now happy to partition my hard drive.
I insert a copy of legitimate copy of Windows 7 Professional (x64) and clicked the Install Windows button when Boot Camp prompted me to.
Windows installation menus open after a quick restart but quickly tells me it cant see any partitions/drives to install on.
I googled the problem read that the partition should be formatted to NTFS for windows seven to install and that OSX wont do that. I installed a free program called NTFS-3G and that formatted the partition to NTFS.
Windows now saw the drive and went through the installation process. After it has gone through its automated routine it restarts the Mac and takes me to a "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..."
I press Enter and it takes me back to the very first installation menu and restarts the whole thing until it has once again gone through its automated routine and restarted the Mac and told me to press any key.
This happened ever time. During the install I am presented with the options of "Installing Windows" or "repairing windows". When I tried the automatic repair it told me it could find no fault.
So I started again by deleting the partition from within OSX and making a new one and installing windows and restarting but this time remove the windows 7 disk.
All this did was boot the Mac up in OSX. I then restarted the Mac and held down the options key. This presented me with the choice of booting from the Mac HDD or the windows partition. I chose the windows partition and it takes me to a black screen with a flashing line/prompt and does nothing else.
I assumed Windows 7 might not like my Mac for some strange reason so brought a copy of Vista business with SP2 (x86).
I deleting the partition from within OSX and made a new one. I began installing Vista. It told me it could only install on NTFS formatted partitions/drives.
Once again I used NTFS-3G to formatted the partition to NTFS and relaunced vista.
It installed fine and restarted itself. Once again it took me back to the first installation screen just as windows 7 did. I tried restarting without the disk (hold options again) and it took me back to the black screen with the flashing line and sat there forever.
I restarted the Mac with the OSX 10.6.1 install disk in the drive and it booted up ignoring the disk. I launched the disk from desk top and looked through the install options hoping to find some drivers or extra installs for boot camp/windows. I couldn’t see anything.
I don’t know what else to try.

Re-read in the PDF guide in Boot Camp Assist where it tells you to format the "BOOTCAMP" FAT volume when in Windows.

But I have really only one question:
Was this an electronic school download edition? they offer students Windows 7 Pro. If this was an electronic version from school, fine, but it has to be burned at *reduced 2x speed* or it won't work, and can have various (and different for everyone) problems, BUT: it is pretty well known and semi "documented."
You do NOT need NTFS driver. That is totally wrong.
Sorry you bought Vista, I used it but once Windows 7 went Beta and then RC I've used 7 and never looked back (what Vista should/could have been but was not, even with SP2).

How do you switch iMac 27" display when in Boot Camp (Windows 7)?

My 27" iMac works great as an external display as long as the iMac is booted into OS X and I hit command-F2.
When I boot my iMac into Boot Camp (Windows 7) however, hitting command-F2 doesn't work to use my iMac as an external display.
Is there any way to get the 27" iMac to enter external display mode if you have booted it into Windows 7 rather than OS X?

I have the same problem, 64bit Win7 Home Ed. loaded with all the recent updates including a Bootcamp patch from last week.
I posted on 9/2/10 and haven't gotten a reply. Did a lot of Google searching but only found it is a problem many have, but that no "real" solution is available.
Since I have had issues in Win7 after it crashes this way and after on/off (unlike you), I'm not willing to mess with it anymore.
I doubt Microsoft will commit to fixing this and it's not likely to be a top priority for Apple.

Boot Camp / Windows Partion... Can it be installed on a separate hard drive

I am just beginning to explore the idea of installing Boot Camp & Windows on a new Intel Mac I will be buying. I've been reading a lot of references to the Windows partition...
Can I dedicate a separate hard drive to Windows rather than partition my primary hard drive? If so would it be best to use an internal drive rather than a Firewire or USB drive. What would a reasonable minimum drive size be?

Hi Mike,
since only the Mac Pro can have more than one internal HD, I assume you are talking about getting one of them
With more than one internal HDs you can put Windows on the second, third, fourth internal HD with the BootCamp Assistant.
On a side note: Windows does not support to be booted from external HDs (neither FireWire nor USB).
Reasonable size depends on what you want to do with it.
Windows XP itself takes up to 3.5GB of HD space after installation, Vista takes up to 10GB.
Add to that the HD space you need for the programs and data you use/produce.
And when keeping in mind the hassle it takes to enlarge the Windows partition if needed, my personal suggestions are:
Windows XP at least 30GB, Vista at least 50GB.
Have you already had a look here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ especially at the Installation Guide ?
