Boot Camp wont install 64 bit Windows 7 on iMac 2012

Hello guys,
I just bought the iMac 27" Late 2012 and im looking into installing Windows 7 via bootcamp.
At first I downloaded 32 bit Windows from DigitalRiver and tried to install Windows it then let me know that 64bit Windows was required. So I went ahead and downloaded the 64 bit Windows 7 and tried again but it is still giving me the same issue as before "BootCamp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform..."
What can I do about this?

Can I use a downloaded (ISO) version of Windows with Boot Camp?
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 and later), MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 and later, including Retina models), Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later), and iMac (Late 2012) can install downloaded (ISO) versions of Windows 7 and 8.
To determine if your Mac supports this feature:
Click the Go menu and choose Utilities.
Open Boot Camp Assistant.
Click Continue. If you see a "Create a Windows 7 or later install disk" checkbox, your Mac supports the use of downloaded (ISO) install images. See the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide for more information.
I hope this information helps ....

What kind of Windows CD are you using?
Does it boot if you restart with the CD in and hold down the "C" key?

  • Windows blue screen of death crash during Boot Camp driver install

I have been trying to get Windows running under Boot Camp on my 2.66 GHz Alu iMac, but without success.
Boot Camp partitions the drive and Windows XP SP2 installs properly. I boot into Windows, and then insert my Leopard install DVD to install the Apple drivers.
The driver installation gets about halfway, then the machine crashes with a blue screen of death and restarts automatically. It puts me back in Windows, with no drivers installed.
I am installing the Boot Camp drivers from the Leopard retail DVD. This machine is missing the Leopard install/restore discs that came with it, and Apple want to charge £99 for a replacement set.
Is there any way I can get the Boot Camp drivers installed, or do I need to find a friend with the exact same machine and original system discs and use those?

    Aloha Adam.
Don't know whether this is helpful, but below is a list of drivers that are installed (as of Aug 08).
Also, if you have not already, you may find FAQ helpful, as well, at URL: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1656
Lastly, though they're a year old, the Update 2.1 is in .exe format, so if you can get it the .exe download package onto your installed Windows OS somehow (e.g., copied onto a CD, IF Windows can read it), you might stand a chance of alternate means of installing the drivers.
If this helps, please so indicate.

  • How do i install boot camp on a brand new 3tb iMac osx 10.8.2

how do i install boot camp on a brand new 3tb iMac osx 10.8.2?

Note: At this time BootCamp doesn't support 3TB drives - this is due to a memory allocation issue with Windows. Check out this article on a/an (unreliable) work around. I say unreliable because some people are reporting success and others failure. At this time if you really need Windows it probably would be better to use virtualization software like Parallels, VMWare, or VirtualBox.

    boot camp wont open windows

What you have downloaded is probably a .exe file that when run on a Windows machine, will download the entire Windows OS ISO (ISO is a CD/DVD image). Once you have the ISO available, installing Windows that you downloaded as an ISO requires a few more steps than just double clicking the ISO image.

  • Using Boot Camp to install Windows XP: problems with display going blank

I have a new Mac mini (early 2009) connected to an older NEC MultiSync LCD (VGA only) display through a KVM.
I initially used the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to make the display connection.
All worked fine with Mac OS X, but when I attempted to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP (Home), the display would go blank with the display saying "no signal" at some point during the install and I couldn't get the mini's display back without power cycling the mini. Numerous attempts at removing the Boot Camp partition, re-partitioning, and retrying resulted in nothing but frustration. I typically had to force the mini to boot from the OS X install DVD or Mac partition to make the mini usable again.
I have used my LCD display and KVM combination with a variety of computers running a variety of operating systems, including older Mac minis running both Mac OS X and XP, with no problems. And I intend to keep using it, so I wasn't going to assume the problem was there!
After noting that Apple had already released a [firmware update|http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mini_DisplayPort_to_VGA_FirmwareUpdate] for this adapter to address "[possible intermittent flickering and compatibility issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3492]", I double checked that it was up to date--and it was. But, it made me suspicious that this adapter might have some more problems and be the source of the troubles I was experiencing.
So, I got an Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and tried that.
No more display problems! Everything works fine with Mac OS X. Windows XP installed without so much as a flicker, and it works smoothly with my setup.
I'm curious if I'm the only one who was affected by this problem?

Restart your Mac while holding down the Alt/Option-key until you get to the Boot Selection Screen.
    Choose to boot OSX.
Use the BootCamp Assistant to remove the Windows partition.
Go to System Preferences then Startup Volume and rest the default to be your OSX volume.
    Reboot your Mac again.
Follow the instructions from here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173 and use the BootCamp Assistant again to install Windows 7

  • Do I need boot Camp to install Windows on a separate drive

I'm getting a new Mac Pro and want to install Windows XP on a new separate drive (I have the need sometimes to be running in full Windows mode). Do I need to use BC? If someone has the procedure I would appreciate it!
Also can I then use that windows install to then install VM Fusion to use unity to run some Win Apps while in OSX... Thanks in advance

I'm a newbe to Mac Pro and I'm still confused about loading Windows XP. I have Fusion and would prefer to run it and Windows on a separate drive. (I don't expect to need Windows for much, but I don't want to have to reboot to use it.) I think I'm hearing that Fusion must be loaded on to a disk or partition formated with Mac OS Extended. Then Windows would be loaded on to disk or partition formated in FAT or NTFS. Is this correct? Can Boot Camp be used only to format the Windows partition or do I need it at all? ( I guess if Fusion can setup a Windows formatted partition, I would not need Boot Camp.) If I start with a clean drive, Mac formated, does the following sequence make sense?
    1. Use Boot Camp to setup a Windows partition on part of the new drive.
    2. Load Fusion into the remaining Mac formatted partition.
3 Load Windows into the Windows partition.
    4. Done - Ready to load PC software into the Windows partition.
Sorry to be so elementary and if there is another sequence that makes more sense, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to use Boot Camp to install Windows on an external HD?

So I don't use up space on my internal hard drive, would it be possible to use Boot Camp to install Windows to an external hard drive?

Ok, so officially, you have to install it on your Mac's internal drive. Good, thanks for clearing that up.
I guess the only simple alternative to installing Windows on your Mac's internal drive is to buy another Mac, and install it on there instead I mean, you could have a Mac Mini or a MacBook, and have that running Windows under Boot Camp.

  • HT3986 How do I install Boot Camp Control Panel on Windows?

So I recently installed Windows 7 (x64) Ultimate on my MacBook Pro (mid 2012).
There are no drivers, and no Boot Camp Control Panel installed with Windows. How do I install all of this?

In Boot Camp (OSX) download the Windows Support Software, then install it in Windows.

  • HT5639 Do I need to uninstall boot camp 4 before I install and update to boot camp 5. I already have windows 8 pro with boot camp 4 installed. Do I need to unistall boot camp 4 or not necessary?

I already have windows 8 pro with boot camp 4 installed on my macair book 11". I have searched the entire articles on how to upgrade boot camp 4 to boot camp 5 but have found no answer as to my question: Do you have to uninstall boot camp 4 drivers before you install boot camp 5? I am not sure if it is ok to install boot camp 5 directly without uninstalling boot camp 4 because there might be driver version conflict. So I have not installed boot camp 5. Is it ok to install boot camp 5 withoust uninstalling boot camp 4? Your answers will be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You don't have to uninstall Boot Camp 4 drivers before installing Boot Camp 5 drivers. Boot Camp 5 drivers will simply overwrite Boot Camp 4 drivers, so you don't have to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones and making that process easier

Reinstalling Mavericks depends on several factors:
if you erased your recovery partition
what OS originally came on your Mac.
I'll assume you don't have a backup available that you made before your mishap,  because you didn't mention it.
That's really the take home message here: have a backup!
If you still have your recovery partition:
boot into the recovery partition (command R at restart)
use the recovery partition to reinstall Mavericks. see: OS X: About OS X Recovery
if you do not still have your recovery partition, then it depends on whether your Mac originally came with installer disks or not.
If it originally came with installer disks, you would boot from the installer disks, erase your HD, and then reinstall the OS that is on the installer disks, and then upgrade as necessary until you get to Mavericks.
If your mac did not originally come with installer disks, but you managed to erase your recovery partition, then you can try to boot into internet recovery (option-command-R at restart), and use internet recovery to erase your HD and reinstall the OS that originally came with your computer, and then upgrade to Mavericks if you need to. See: Hands on with Mountain Lion's OS X Recovery and Internet Recovery | Macworld
(the reference refers to ML but it applies just as well to Mavericks).
