If you have not created those Recovery Disks when the Notebook was in working condition we cannot do that right now As of now if you need to recover your Notebook with the new Operating System you can check if the Recovery Partitionis in a working condition or not, If yes you can easily recover/restore your Notebook If Recovery Partition is corrupted You need to call HP Technical Support and request for a set of Recovery Disks , So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliestORYou need call up Microsoft and purchase an Operating System with the License Key, So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliest I strongly recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay   Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,K N R KAlthough I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP

  • [Solvd]hd0,gpt1error: file /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found

I'm trying to configure GRUB2 to load Windows 8 on UEFI system.
    os-prober does not detect it.
grub-mkconfig creates only for Linux (tried both with mounted and unmounted Windows partition).
So I went for manual entry.
    I executed the following
    $ mount /dev/sde1 /boot/efi/
    $ grub-probe --target=fs_uuid /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    69DB-D2EB
    # grub-probe --target=hints_string /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    --hint-bios=hd4,gpt1 --hint-efi=hd4,gpt1 --hint-baremetal=ahci4,gpt1
    Created menuentry for /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    menuentry "Microsoft Windows 8" {
    insmod part_gpt
    insmod fat
    insmod search_fs_uuid
    insmod chain
    search --fs-uuid --hint-bios=hd4,gpt1 --hint-efi=hd4,gpt1 --hint-baremetal=ahci4,gpt1 69DB-D2EB
    chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
And when I choose it it says
    hd0,gpt1error: file /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found
Note that EFI partition is not mounted is fstab (does it make a difference for GRUB?).
    Also, specifying
    chainloader /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    Gives the same not found.
P.S. Windows "fast start" is disabled

  • Build & Capture TS (MDT) - Capture fails at PrepareOS (sysprep) with "Boot Image package not found"

    Hi all,
I'm searching for a while on this one now... I'm unable to perform a "ZeroTouch" Build & Capture of my reference machine to get a master image, with Capture Media it seems to be working, but this is a manual step...
While running a W7SP1 Build & Capture task sequence, the "Capture the reference machine" group fails at "PrepareOS". The step before "PrepareOS",  "Prepare ConfigMgr Client" runs without any issues.
The only error I can find, shows up in the report "OSD - history of a TS":

    Thanks!

The error Torsten pointed out gave me some clue... After much digging around on the web, I've stumbled upon this

    Hi Pazza,
As Torsten said,  please ensure that you have an x86 and x64 boot image configured and deployed, regardless of the architecture of the OS that
you wish to deploy. Secondly, ensure that the boot images for both architectures have the network drivers for the respective model that you are imaging injected.

  • [PPC] new install fails to boot: root partition not found

    Hi,
new ArchPPC installation on a iMac G3. It does not boot further than initramfs because root partition is not found. I get something like:
    Root device /dev/sda4 doesn't exist
    Attempting to created it
ERROR: unable to determine major/minor number of root device /dev/sda4
then I get a dropbox recovery console but keyboard doesn't work.
I chroot in the installed system to change mkinicpio pata hook to ide, regenerated initramfs but that didn't help.
Any guidance to diagnose and solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, sorry I just realized you replied to my thread.
I don't have my mac at the moment, but I must have done something like :
    - boot the live CD
    - get the output of lsmod
    - copy this output to mkinitcpio.conf (the one that's on your HD), remove the autodetect hook
    - chroot into your HD setup
    - regenerate initramfs
    - update yaboot (is this really mandatory?)
    - exit chroot and reboot.

  • [SOLVED] Can't boot computer (device not found)

On boot (both Normal and Fallback) I get:
Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/d3c4f22d-65c6-4e06-bcc1-752db552061
    ERROR: device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/d3c4f22d-65c6-4e06-bcc1-752db552061' not found
    Skipping fsck
And then it drops to a shell, and I need to use "exit" to run, but it requires me to choose a boot partition (I tried exit /dev/sda1 and others but it says invalid number).
I know there are many posts on that, but since I believe this is a specific issue (I updated kernel last night with -Syyu'd), I decided to make my own.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

About that, I have some questions...
    1. How long can it take?
    2. How dangerous is it?
    3. Is it really what I need?
    4. Can I lose files? Since I can't boot, is there a way to save them?
    5. In order to find out what my root partition is, can I use Gparted?
5.1. Can I not use an Arch Live CD and use Ubuntu for example? It's much easier to do it.
    6. How do I know if I have a separate boot partition? I have all /dev/sda's, and one of them is boot I think. Don't we all have?
    Sorry and thank you!
Also, and I want to make this clear, I did *not* use force on pacman, I never do.
    So, what caused?
I just updated it normally, like I always do, was it some arch error everybody else experienced?
    1) The time to boot the live cd, type the commands and like 30 seconds for mkinitcpio.
    2) lol, not dangerous
    3) Since it's in the Q&A: most probably.
    4) You can always lose files. Just boot a live cd, mount the partitions you want to save and the partition you want to save it to and copy (or rsync).
    5) I don't think so, unless you gave your partitions a descriptive label. Just mount partitions until you find the root.
    5.1) I don't think so.
    6) If you find your root partition: if /boot is empty, you have a separate boot partition. You can check your fstab to see which one.
    What caused? dunno
Was it something everybody experienced: no
Good luck! Just follow the instructions, it's not that hard.

  • [SOLVED]Dual boot Grub2 : file not found

    here is my config :
Ubuntu 11.1 installed on sd1. It is my default system, and where the GRUB2 config is.
    I installed Archlinux on sd2, with /boot on (hd1,1) and / on (hd1,2).
I want to set up GRUB to boot both systems.
here is my /etc/grub.d/11_linux_arch, in the Ubuntu system :
    #!/bin/sh -e
    echo "Adding Archlinux"
    cat << EOF
    menuentry "ArchLinux"  {
    set root=(hd1,2)
    linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux
    initrd /boot/initramfs-linux.img
    EOF
vmlinux-linux and initramfs-linux.img are well in my /boot folder on (hd1,1)
At grub prompt, I can see Archlinux as an option. When I select it, I get an error message, "file not found".
I can't see where is an error.
    TY for any help.

Here is what I added to /etc/grub.d/40_custom
    # Arch Linux
    menuentry "Arch Linux" {
    set root=(hd1,1)
    linux /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/38616db1-366f-40f4-a728-1230e81abb21 ro
    initrd /initramfs-linux.img
I think telling the uuid is better  but /dev/sdb2  (my / partition)  works too.
    Then :
    #sudo update-grub
and I have been able to dual boot Archlinux and Ubuntu 11.10.
The resolution is bad, so I will add a line about it, but I guess it is not diificult.

  • Boot Camp partition not found by Windows installer

So I switched up to Leopard this morning with a fairly smooth Archive and Install.
I've got an XP Pro SP2 CD raring to run some Windows games, so I give Boot Camp Assistant a whirl. I create a 15 GB partition using the Assistant, and it reboots with my XP CD. XP goes through all of its driver loading, and I get past the disclaimer screen. But on the setup screen, where partitions are supposed to be listed, the only partition I see is my 130 GB OS X partition, and nothing else.
I can see the 15 GB Fat32 partition labeled BOOTCAMP in both Leopard, and with a liveCD version of FreeDOS, so I know it's actually there. But the XP installer, for some reason, cannot see it.
Anybody encounter this? Anybody know what I can do? I'm hurting for some Orange Box action.

you need to install windows support software on a usb 2 flashdrive. more simply, start over in bootcamp, insert your usb drive as well as the dvd, check all 3 options. bootcamp will do the rest.
    or it could be a problem with the install disc, why not download win 7 iso from here;
    http://techverse.net/download-windows-7-iso-x86-x64-microsofts-official-servers/
and go with this, its perfectly legal to use your activation code during instalation.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Set up XP through Boot camp, Airport not found... what am I doing wrong?!

So I was doing some cleaning through old computer stuff and came across a copy of Windows XP that I had. I have been wanting to partition my HD to run MS OS for awhile but couldnt afford getting the OS so it worked out perfect. I went through all the step by step instructions to get it loaded onto my MacBook Pro (Late 2010) and got the OS up and running. I only partitioned about 30GB for the MS side of things, dont know if its relevant but just wanted to include it, and upon loading the windows side, I dont even have an option to use my airport. Are there any additional drivers I need to set up for the airport to work? Should they have been included with the support software that was downloaded during initial set up? Or am I just missing a step on the Windows side of things and not getting the end result? Thank you for taking a look, and the help!

You need the Windows Support Software, which is on the OSX (10.6.8) installation disc if you are (as your profile says) using Snow Leopard. If you're actually using Lion or Mountain Lion you can download it using Boot Camp Assistant, but then it will not support XP, only Windows 7 or 8.

  • [Solved] Can't boot, root device not found

I recently performed an update of udev and my kernel and after this I am unable to boot the normal kernel or the fallback. When I try I get this error:
ERROR: Unable to find root device '/dev/disk/by-uid/03619a2f-908f-4724-ba4b-1fb3985e382b' You are being dropped to a recovery shell Type 'exit' to try and continue booting sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
Typing exit results in me dropping to another shell and if done repeatedly a kernel panic. I attempted to boot via the grub console using the sda device block but I came up with the same error. When I look in /dev through the recovery console that comes up the sda* blocks aren't present.
I need to know if there is a way to do this without entirely reformatting my system, I also don't have easy access to another computer but I have an android phone. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    This has been solved.
    For anybody's reference:
From the recovery shell I had to load the modules ahci and sd_mod and that got the sda* to appear in /dev. After that I had to mount /dev/sda3 (my root partition) under /root and /new_root and then enter 'exit' to continue booting.
    Pretty much:
    modprobe ahci
    modprobe sd_mod
    mount /dev/sda3 /root
    mount /dev/sda3 /new_root
    exit

  • /boot/vmlinux-linux not found...

So I deleted a few programs that I had installed at some point. Double-checked it, recognised them all, (i used 'sudo pacman -rc jack2 .. 7z' etc. ). In hindsight, deleting dependencies without a thought was a bad idea. I looked back, noticed pacman and a few other things had been deleted
I tried to troubleshoot, followed the wiki to restore pacman and then restarted, now it won't load from grub and gives me that message. I'm having to post this from my phone now but I'm pretty concerned. I'll make an arch usb, can someone point me in the direction to what to do after?
Is it a simple case of mounting my root and running pacman update from live? Is that possible? (To update a mounted partition and restore lost vital files).
    Please help!
    Thanks

jpjenkins wrote:Is it a simple case of mounting my root and running pacman update from live? Is that possible? (To update a mounted partition and restore lost vital files).
Yes, that's what you do during an install.  Just mount your partitions in /mnt from the iso, then use `pacman --root /mnt <package names>`.
In the future you'll want to use pacman's 's' option for removing rather than 'c'.  I typically remove packages with `pacman -Rsn <package>`.
EDIT: to be on the safe side, rather than trying to guess what was removed, you could just run `pacman --root /mnt base` from the iso.

  • Boot deviсу not found

    Hi everyone.
    The situation is as follows.
Laptop was working fine, but yesterday when booting I got message that boot device is not found. I tried to make hdd check but it didn't help. So I decided to take it out. I put it into my docking station and checked on PC.
The Windows itself didn't see it, but AOMEI partition assistant saw it. First of all I thought there was a problem with boot sector and I fix it, but nothing happend. After a few tests I decided to delete everything from the hdd and install Win8.
I prepared usb flash drive got everyhting back into the notebook and started. When I came to the stage when I should create partitions and choose one for installing windows laptop could'n find hdd. He did't see it at all asking for a controller drivers. I wasted almost all day trying to find suitable SATA/RAID dravers to be compatitable with AMD and found few. The system recognized them, I pressed next hoping that after installation everything will be fine but this was another failure. After a 5 minutes of waiting systems drops back to screen with choosing partition (which I steel can't see) and saying that it can't find suitable driver.
So, I just don't know what to do next. On AMD official web-site all driver sets are packed in .exe archives wich is not suitable for my situation.
After formatting through docking station that hdd Win8 on my PC recognizes it easily and I can work with it, but laptop just don't want to see it.
Will be really grateful for help with this issue.

    Update.
Yestreday I managed to install WinXP on that laptop and it seems worked fine, eccept not accepting any drivers (as far as I understand HP do not have any drivers for XP for this model which is really strange).
After that I installed WinSeven, deleting XP, and it also worked well, and eccepted all necessary drivers. But today problem repeated. The same: 'the boot device not found".
    Kind regards
