Boot error, 1short beep pause 2 short beeps, X58 pro-e

Hi Guys,
My pc is not booting up, all I recieve is a blank screen with 1 (normal) boot beep which are then followed by 2 short beeps after 2 secs or so.
(something thats quite weird, my numlock key is light up and toggle when I press it)
Did cmos reset, same thing.
It is not my gfx card because when I remove it i get the "1long 2 short" beep sound.
Please any sugestions?
I7 930 2.8 ghz
X58 pro e mb
Kingston HyperX 1600mhz 6GB
Evga gtx 470
Seagate 500gb sata
W7 ult x64
Coolermaster silent pro 600

I am having a similar issue to this and I'm not sure what the beep codes are for this mobo.
Anyway, I just installed a brand new kingston hyperx 120gb SSD into my desktop which already had a 1tera SATA HD in it.  Fresh install of windows, but the data from my old HD was never erased so I can still access all of that data.  Everything seemed fine for about a day but now when I boot up my PC after a few minutes on the desktop screen whether I am actively opening/closing programs or leave it idle.  My computer begins to beep repeatedly and continuously until I shut down my CPU.
Any ideas on where to begin?  I've no idea where to begin other than uninstalling the new SSD but obviously I just don't understand how the install could have gone wrong in the first place.  As far as CPU overheating the temperature controller display on the front of my desktop never goes over 50 degrees C.
Did not want to create a brand new topic as this one was already which was pretty much the same thing, just maybe a different beep code associated with it from the sounds of it.
Thanks in advance for your help!  Really would like to use my desktop again without being barked at by it.

  • Why my mac beeps 2 short beeps ?

Why my mac beeps 2 short beeps , it happens once or twice or maybe more a day ? Is that means there is a problem with it ?

Perhaps SMC and PRAM resets will help:

I view that as an 'undesirable' noise.  If the above does not eliminate it, my prior suggestion of an Apple Genius bar or AASP appointment is the best option.

  • T61P died, 1 long beep - 2 short beeps problem - Do the updates from Lenovo KILL our laptop?

    Hi all
I bought T61P from 2 years ago, everything is ok until yesterday, I turn on my laptop and nothing display on the screen, and with this :  1 long beep - 2 short beeps....
I make some search, and found a lot of people have the same problem, and almost happend from September - 2009 to now.
I asked my self why this problem does not happend in the 1st year of using T61P...and this only happend from September - 2009 to now? DO THE UPDATES FROM LENOVO KILL OUR LAPTOP?
My laptop is out of warranty, and I hate to replace another mainboard.... If I must do it, I will throw my laptop to the Trash, and never buy another Lenovo laptops.

so far it looks like a strict hardware problem, not related to updates. however, some manufacturers try to "cheat" with bios updates - they make fan to run at higher speed lowering the mainboard temp. This does not solve the problem per se, it just makes laptop survive beyond warranty expiration date, so you, dear customer, will have to foot the bill.

If what I read is correct, you will need to take your MBA to Apple to have its firmware restored.
I cannot explain why this happened.

  • RAM Failure? (3 Short Beeps, 3 Long Beeps, 3 Short Beeps)

Anyone have any idea what 3 Short Beeps, 3 Long Beeps, and 3 Short beeps when starting the computer mean? I heard it might be RAM failure? Could that be the case? How much has it been in the past? Computer's a Late 2010 13" Macbook Air with the Core 2 Duo. Thanks.

  • T431s - 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps on restart - boots fine - security chip

Finally received a T431s (win 8 pro) but it's beeping right out of the box. Seems to only beep from a warm reboot. Starting from cold (completely off) doesn't beep.
Disabling the security chip seems to resovle the beeps, but then I can't use the fingerprint reader or bitlocker. Setting it to inactive seems to eventually turn it to active by itself (after a restart) resulting in beeps again. Tried clearing the TPM but results in the same beeps...
Pretty annoyed that it's having issues right out of the box. Anyone else with a T431s having the same issue?
Additionally, I can't seem to access the bios from a cold start no matter how fast I press the F1 key, or what keys I press. It refuses to get interrupted. The only way I can access the bios is allowing the system to come up, restart, and then interrupt boot.

Here is some more information about this problem:

It seems like there is an ongoing investigation about this issue.

  • 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps... til I unplug it!

Is there documentation anywhere that tells me what these beeps indicate? I am trying to figure out where we went wrong I got a new motherboard, Kt3Ultra2, new CPUm, new fan, new power supply (350 w) and new RAM. I need to know which pieces to start checking with.
Someone tells me that there are really intelligent people here who can tell me what the beeps generally indicate to get me started in the right direction. Are any of you intelligent people reading tonight and feeling chivalrous?

  • 1 long beep 3 short beeps

My motherboard keeps beeping this message to me and i am wondering what it is saying can anybody help.
I have a k7t turbo model number 6380e so if  you can help please answer.

Are you sure K7t turbo with model number 6380E?
Nevertheless, the beep means your display card is undetected or not installed properly. Double check your display card, and make sure it is slotted into the AGP slot fully, firmly. Of course you might need to push a little bit of force towards the motherboard :D
Here is one example, if you're using some Radeon 8500, the DVI-out port is positioned way too low at the bottom, and some casing design might block the card from fitting fully in properly.

  • Need help in diagnosing 1 long beep 2 short beeps

I know this usually means video card is bad. I need to know if disconnecting internal video cable on working system will give the same symptom to help isolate problem between display and video card
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

not exactly sure; the 1long + 2short beep diagnostic is somewhat generic, it could be almost anything (on the mainboard, including GPU).
and Lenovo ThinkPad Beep Codes and ThinkWiki Beep Codes have conflicting information about the 1long/2short
you haven't said what machine, but assuming it's a T6x series,  do you have it docked with an external video card?  the onboard GPU is not socketed (it's soldered to the mainboard), so the only way to disable it (that i'm aware of) is via the BIOS (assuming an external video adapter in a dock is also available for further troubleshooting).  i don't think that disconnecting the display panel (flat) cable is likely to help diagnose the problem, but while you're at it, you might want to make certain that it is seated/connected properly.  i know that where the display cable connects to the socket on the back of the lcd panel is a tight fit, and the connecter itself locks into place (when mated).  you've checked the lcd cable for damage and/or proper connectivity, i assume?  what about external monitor to the VGA port... have you tried that?  FN-F7 key presses may be necessary to toggle the video hardware b/w the internal/external displays.

  • Z60t not boot up, no display at all, beep sound: three pause one pause four pause three

My Z60t(2511HAU) not able to boot.
If I let it sit for half a day and power and battery unplugged. then connect the power.
The first time I boot it, it will have no beep. But it does not have any display.
If I power it down at this time and then reboot it.
It will give the following beeping sound: three beep pause one beep pause four beep pause three beep.
    What does this mean?

Hello hua_zhong_8611, welcome to Lenovo forum!
It seems that either your ram or system board produce the beeps and blank screen.
Please refer to your Hardware Maintenance Manual page 50f..pdf.
Reseating the ram or removing one, if 2 dimms are installed, could help to narrow down the problem.

  • 3 short beeps (*not* on boot)

    hello,
today my mac mini early 2009 began to beep: 3 short beeps every 15 seconds or so.
i've found searching here that 3 beeps on boot means a problem with RAM, but the curious in my case is that it boots up normally.
the beeps begins a couple of min after i log in.
does this still mean ram, or something else? i couldn't find out.
    running 10.9.1.
    many thanks,
    paula

  • 27" iMac 3.2 i7 won't start. Emits 3 'beeps', pause, repeats.

    My 27" iMac 3.2 i7, 20GB RAM won't start. Emits 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause.

Here's a link to an Apple support page that describes the possible Startup tones.
Mac computers: About startup tones - Apple Support
The short answer is here. Looks like your RAM is bad.
1 tone, repeating every 5 seconds: This indicates no RAM is installed.
3 successive tones, a 5 second pause (repeating): This indicates RAM does not pass a data integrity check.
1 long tone while holding down the power button: Indicates an EFI ROM update is in progress on a computer manufactured before 2012.
3 long tones, 3 short tones, 3 long tones: Indicates EFI ROM corruption is detected and the computer is in EFI ROM recovery mode.

  • KM3M-V wont boot error code 1 long beep two short

As above but after the 1 long beep and two short beeps it gives off 2 deeper tone beeps! Is it the onboard graphics card thats at fault? if so I'll need to get the m'board replaced, have tried different ddr memory and no difference, processor is an Athlon 2400+ XP
    Cheers

Its a PC I've built for a friend, no bios or hardware update had been performed all he did was come in one night and turned it on, and it did that, it has 512Mb DDR 2700, Athlon 2400+ XP and uses everything onboard eg sound and graphics, no it doesn't have a d bracket unfortunatly! Have tried disconnecting all the drives and even swapping the memory and it still gives the same code.
how long has your friend had the system? did he do anything to it before it started doing this?
you say you swapped the memory, does the system have two sticks, if so try just one on its own. if you only have one stick in it, then try some memory out of another machine. do you have an AGP card you could try? maybe some nasty dust is settled inside AGP slot, try blowing out with air duster
