Boot failure - 'Error loading drivers' Extensions.mkext - Read error 0x7

Hello,
I have a user with a Macbook running Leopard. (I'm not sure which version.)
When the machine boots, it fails while trying to load Extensions.mkext. This seems to happen early enough that Safe Mode would not help.
Ideas? Is this a physical read error on the drive?

Probably. Boot from the installation DVD and check the disk using Disk Utility. If DU doesn't report an error then run Apple Hardware Test (it could be a memory problem..).

You should have given your son access to a Parental Controlled Account only. Unfortunately without the disks, and from the sounds of it, no backup, you are stuck. You might be able to recover the information with an external hard drive and an appropriate data recovery program, but getting the 10.4 original discs is increasingly difficult. If a Mac is Intel, only the original discs can be used to install 10.4 which you would need to call AppleCare for and hope they still have a copy of, or a cloned backup. If it is PowerPC G3, G4, or G5, you can probably find the 10.4.6 retail disc, discussed here to Archive and install 10.4.
Before Archive and Installing, which you can do with either the original 10.4 or retail disc, be sure to attempt that data recovery. If you choose to try to Archive and Install 10.5, and you have PowerPC, you'll lose access to Classic Applications. You could upgrade to 10.6 if you have Intel and 1 GB of RAM, or 10.7 if you have 2 GB of RAM, but some application compatibility might be lost the further you upgrade.

I guess your problem is related to StarOffice8, right?
I had the same issue after upgrading StarOffice7 to StarOffice8:

Apparently the .StarOffice8 directory in your export/home directory was created based on .StarOffice7
directory. Probably here something went wrong. Maybe a bug.
So the solution is very simple:
rm -r .StarOffice8 in your export/home directory and restart StarOffice8.
Or you can also rename the directory.

Solaris 10 won't boot up "Cannot load drivers for /pci@400.....

This is the error message that I am getting on a Solaris 10 sparc server

Is there a way for me to correct this issue. It looks like I am missing a scsi driver to boot up the server? Is there a way to boot into single user mode, mount the filesystem and rediscover the hardware, etc.....

First i guess you have to verify that you can find the disks with a probe-scsi-all
next you can boot it of a CD-rom/dvd into single-user:
boot cdrom -s
.. or similar into single-user from a jumpstart image:
boot net -s
Then you can mount the root disk under something such as:
/mnt
and rebuild the config with:
devfsadm -R /mnt
be careful if you have a mirrored filesystem though, you don't want to update just one of the mirrors without first breaking the mirror..

Thousands of "... CFLog (21): Error loading /Library/..." errors

Recently, I've been getting litterally thousands of occurances of the same error message in my Console log (/Library/Logs/Console/username/console.log), as well as hundreds of the same error message in my Terminal window when running certain normal commands such as osascript. They are all of the form:
YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.ddd procname[pid] CFLog (21): Error loading /Library/Application Support/DivXNetworks/liblame3.92.dylib: error code 0, error number 2 (dyld: osascript can't open library: /Library/Application Support/DivXNetworks/liblame3.92.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Processes reporting this error include SystemUIServer, System Preferences, Dock, iTunes, Terminal, loginwindow, osascript, Calculator, and many others. In fact, it appears that this messsage occurs for every Cocoa application.
As far as I know, none of the processes reporting this error have any use of any DivX libraries. And, to my knowledge, nothing was ever installed in the location the error mentions.
(How) does this make any sense, and how can I fix it?

There are a few problems with your suggestion of just ignoring the problem:
* It's not supposed to happen.
* I didn't use to get these errors.
* I don't get them on the other computer.
* It slows things down significantly; specifically: it takes longer to startup (because of loginwindow) and login (loginwindow and Dock), applications take longer to start (all of them), AppleScripts run slower, and so does QuickTime.
* It wastes hard drive space, of which I only have 6GB on on iMac and 8 on the other, by exploding console.log (which, due to this issue, can grow to several MB in a day)
* It interferes with several shell commands (my Terminal window gets flooded with hundreds of them, and nothing starts happening until all of them get displayed), especially osascript (the command-line tool for AppleScript), which I use routinely via several tools I've written which call it
* It is an error, which by defenition should be corrected, not ignored.
Does someone know what is causing this, and how to correct it, please?

Satellite Pro A10: Error loading drivers and other things

hi.
I have just bought a spare A10 from ebay. I already have an A10 and its the business. On Powering up the new A10, I have a message bubble from microsoft saying that it was unable to load the drivers for the cd recording software, please update the drivers. If I click on the bubble it tells me to update real player, roxio or some other recording software.
As I haven't put any on and there was none on there when bought. Its not broken, Its just annoying. Also when I right click anywhere on the desktop, in the coloum that appears, i get a link to a adult site, how can i get rid of this?

Hi Jack,
I suggest you check what is actually being started when you boot your new A10 using MSCONFIG. This will then let you stop those tasks which you do not want from being started up and should prevent your error message being displayed.
I also suggest you download and install a copy of AdAware from http://www.lavasoft.com (and possibly also SpyBot from http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html ) and do a full check of your new A10 to remove any nasties that may be lurking there.
It sounds as if the previous owner has removed some of the software that they had installed but have not fully cleaned up afterwards.
Finally, I personally use a freeware utility call CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ which is excellent at removing bits and pieces left over on my notebook. It needs to be treated with some caution because it is quite a powerful utility but it is very quick and thorough.

Error loading custom extension assembly - "The parameter is incorrect"

SSRS2012 fails to load my custom authentication assembly. I see this error in the logs:

PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))
File name: 'CT.Integrations.SSRS.Web.Impl, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' ---> System.ArgumentException: Invalid directory on URL.
Note, the DLL is purposedly not strong named as this an unfortunate ripple affect causing all referenced assemblies to also be signed.

Fusion logs show the dll loads successfully so not sure why SSRS is not happy.

Apparently, the Url on the IMembershipCondition doesn't like *.dll. It has to be:

HP Elitebook 8560w Won't Boot UP -- Disk Read Error Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart

Hello. I have an Elitebook 8560w, that won't boot up. The screen says "Disk Read Error Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart". The screen isn't all black...there are some random colored square pixels with a random flashing !, but it's mostly black.
I've run the diagnostics and the F4 Hard Disk Test has passed everytime I've run it. I can hear the hard drive running, so mechanically it's okay (not sure on the logic side).
The F3 Run-in Test fails under the Memory Test, it reads "Run-in test failed - Failed Memory Address 0x76B99000 Pattern expected - 0XFEFFFF Pattern Read - OxFFFFFF
I tried a new 4GB DDDR RAM (removed the old one), and it hasn't helped. I should add before I changed RAM, it failed memory test and said "Disk Not Found".
That made me think it was the hard drive, but the hard drive test has always passed.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm lost. I have a new drive and ram coming from HP, but hoping I can salvage info on HDD.
Also...the computer was set up with Windows 7 as new, but my company reimages everyone's computer and installs XP. So I'm not sure running the HP CD (assuming I can find it) would even help.

Disk read failure and disk not found are classic signs of a hard drive failure. The memory failed the test, so it looks like this had two issues at once.
The good news is that the right parts are on their way. If you want to save your data, do not use the recovery disks for the system. They will wipe the hard drive if it is still functional for them.
With regards to retrieving your data, have you talked to the IT team yet? Most IT departments have a process for data retrieval on company equipment.
If they do not have a process setup to do that, then you could try getting a notebook hard drive external enclosure. They usually run fairly cheap for a basic enclosure and that is enough to connect the hard drive externally to a different computer using a USB cable to copy data from it. This would work provided they do not encrypt the hard drive. If they do encrypt it, contact the IT team for their process as encryption limits the methods that are available.

The real mode driver is bad.
Does anyone know what this means??? Any insight would be helpful in

I downloaded the Solaris 8 (Intel Platform Edition) 7/01 and used dd.exe
on DOS to make the HCA diskette
(http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/dca_diskettes/8/S8_0701.3)

Consequently, I have tried the install by making a bootable CD made with
EasyCD Creator from the .iso image for Solaris Software disk 1. This
works... so I am moving forward, but I would still like to know what the
error I got with the diskette is all about. Does anyone have an

Thanks for your response.
U see ..this happens only when the all the services / databases etc come back up after a cold backup during the weekend . And like I u have mentioned , I thought this could be due to the BPEL service trying to connect to one of the databases as mentioned in the oc4j-ra.xml ( there are 3 distinct database connections to 3 diff databases ) . So I made sure that all the dbs are up and running before this particular service is started . It wroks at times ..but then it fails at times . So I have started wondering whether this is a different issue . And I am not able to troubleshoot it any further .
What exactly should I check in the wsdl file ..

I am struggling hard with these errors. Actually I am having 7 bpel process, one among that 7 integrates all the process. I have deployed and tested in my machine it is working perfectly fine. I just copy the entire set up to another machine with same server version as SOA 10.1.3.1 and JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. But I am receiving error. Also I have made all the required changes respective to new server. In the sense have change wsdl location respective to new server. But I am able to compile/deploy all the process except the integrated process. Even I am not able to compile the integrated process. Please suggest me. what else i have to change..?

copy the file int your project and change the wsdl to

The problem occurs during data load from R/3. It was not occuring before. When I go to check the PSA contents I get a runtime error - GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED.

hello, i have a lot of PDF Files that become corrupted ! i dont know why
and i receive this error message when i open the pdf file:

im using adobe acrobat 8 prof. also acrobat reader.

When I encountered an error "there was a problem reading this document 110" in Acrobat Pro 11 on 28.7 MB CS6 file, it indeed was very frustrating.
I solved my problem, but since I don't know which step benefitted me, I've to enumerate all the steps I took:
Read below:
1.1. I could copy the file anywhere on the drive, but couldn't 'save as' from Acrobat Pro.
1.2. No document security was applied of any sort on the file.
1.3. Still in the first tab of the document properties, all details under advance section were empty. No 'PDF Version' 'location' 'file size' etc were populated. Nothing.
1.4. I couldn't change and save anything in any of property dialogue. I could comment on the text, but as soon as I tried to save, it gave an error (some sort of 'File reading' error).
1.5. When I tried to extract a page (I tried many), it gave 'reading error'.
1.6. I didn't try 'splitting error'. Since I was 100% sure, it'll give me same reading error.
1.7. I opened the file in Firefox and tried saving it as pdf from there. But no error, but no save either.
1.8. I ran 'Remove Hidden Information' from protection panel without any errors.
1.9. I tried 'sanitize document' from the same tab, but didn't succeed.
1.10. Then (here I think the problem was resolved), from Document Processing panel, I did some commands. 1st, 'Export all images', successfully. Then 'Remove all links', it found 0.
1.11. Then in 'print production' panel, I clicked/tried to open acrobat distiller. The same opened, did some processing. But I don't know if it did something in solving the problem or not.
1.12. Although I think my problem was resolved till now, but the last step I did was 'Saved As' the file (from the file menu) as a .ps file. Though I've not yet reopened/used that ps file (to convert it into a pdf file again). But around here I wanted to close the file and it asked me whether I wanted to save the file, I said yes. And it saved the file correctly. And I checked that in properties dialogue, the missing information was populated too.
1.13. Sorry for so lengthy instructions, but I had no choice.
