Boot image for SUP720/MSFC3

I had a dig around today on the software center but could not find a boot image for this blade, does such a thing exist? Would prefer a 12.2 image if possible...

There is no boot image for the MSFC3 for either Hybrid or Sup720's Native IOS.

  • Boot image for SRW2024

    Hi,
Where can i download boot images for SRW2024?
Is it correct that i have to upgrade the boot image to install the 1.2.2 firmware?

You may not download boot images, they are only available through the SBSC. You will not require one. What you will need to be careful of is "a" and "b" versions. If by chance you have flashed the wrong version, you may use the xmodem procedure posted here to upload the correct one.

  • Boot images for SCCM12r2 from an NAS

    Hello,
Is it possible to boot images from an distribution point installed on an NAS ?
I have my SCCM (2012 R2) server and DC (2012 R2) in an Data Center. An office (in another location) in this domain and same ip subnet have a slow line-connection to the datacenter. In the office we gonna use the pxe server (sccm) to boot
images for new clients. I want a solution to avoid transferring the OS Images/packages over this slow line-connection. It is not allowed to put server hardware in the office. In the office they have a NAS, with they use to transfer big files.
Hence when an new client press F12 to install or reinstall an image, this one must be transferred from the NAS in the office and not from the SCCM server over the slow line-connection.
Is this possible ? So yes, please let me know how to do this.
    Thanks a million.

    The situation is as follows:
    - We have a SCCM server in a datacenter
    - Our NAS (without SCCM supported OS installed) is at the client location on which our OS images are stored
If we decide to push an OS Image via SCCM to a client at the same location as the NAS.
Does the OS Image travel directly from the NAS to the client or does the OS Image go to SCCM first and then back to the client?
We ask this question because if the OS image has to be uploaded from the NAS to the SCCM server and then downloaded again by the client completely destroys the internet speed.

  • Creating a USB boot image for LabviewRT

I have installed Labview 8.2 and the "update 8.2.1" for Labview RT Standard version from the web.
I am trying to create a bootable image for a target Laptop PC, using a USB jump drive.
When I run NI-MAX and select TOOLS->RT Disk Utilities->Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive, a popup dialog appears that says:
"This utility will reformat a USB drive with a Labview Real-Time boot USB utility for use with a USB boot-capable Desktop PC. Make sure the USB drive is connected to your computer before you continue.
Do you want to use this utility?"
Clicking on Yes, shows a dialog selection window, with a single entry ="Version 8.2", and an OK and Cancel button.
Selecting the OK button, shows an error popup titled: Measurement & Automation Explorer" with text="Unable to detect USB drives"
The jump drive is 32MB and is visible in WINDOWS Explorer.
WHY will NI-MAX not see or use this jump-drive ?
( I have tried two different jump drives from two different manufacturers)

    Hello,
Does your jump drive conform to the USB Mass Storage Device Class?  What drive letter are you using?  Did you create it by running the command line utility "subst"?
Have you tried doing this on a different computer?  Are the USB ports 1.1 or 2.0?

  • Boot image for Solaris 8 x86?

Does anyone know where I can download the image for the boot floppy for Solaris 8 x86?
Mine got corrupted, and since System Commander 2000 doesn't recognize the partition, that and the CD are the only ways I can boot the system.
    Thanks in advance,

Are you considering any particular cards ?
    I have had good luck with DEC21040 (10baseT) and DEC21140 (100baseT) cards
in Solaris 7 through Solaris 10 on x86.
The same can be said for 3Com 3C905C-TX cards.
Solaris 8x86 will recognize many chipsets natively,
and a number of third party developers have created working driver packages.
Most of their driver packages are free, but a few are not free.
Solaris 9 works with a few more, and Solaris 10 works with yet more adapters.
The Solaris 8x86 HCL list has the native cards.
This other Sun web page can direct you toward 3rd party sites.

  • Creating a custom boot image for Mavericks

    Hello Apple Community!
I realize that this question might have been asked a few times already, but I found nothing using the search function (nothing that satisfied me, that is).
My task is simple: We have several different Macs at the office (Mostly MacBook Airs and Pros, some iMacs too) and whenever a new employee join us, I need to install all the software for that person. That is a bit of a cumbersome and repetitive process, so I wanted to know if and how it would be possible to create custom, universally working (i.e. on all different models that we're using at our institute) disk images that contain all the preinstalled software packages that we're using....
We are using Mavericks ATM, but we will migrate to Yosemite eventually (though not until I stop hearing people complain about Yosemite's apparent random bugs).
Is there a guide to this somewhere? Would someone please point out where I could find such information?
    Thank you guys.

I created my own simply by installing OS X on an external USB drive then booting into that drive, setting up just an Administrator account, installing all the software I needed and set it aside.
If I ever need to reinstall OS X, I boot into the USB's Recovery HD and run Disk Utility's Restore function pointing my Source to the USB drive and Destination to the Mac's internal drive.

  • Having issues with Surface Pro 3 downloading boot image over PXE

    Hi,
We've recently started to buy the new Surface Pro 3 with the new USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter and we have some issues deploying them through SCCM. Basically, with the Pro 2 and Fast Ethernet adapter we have no issue at all, of course the deployment is
a bit longer than on any other computer, but it is still quite faster than the latest Surface.
We have the new 8.13.414.2014 driver injected in the Win 8.1 boot image for the USB 3.0 Gigabit adapter and all the drivers assigned to the new Surface in SCCM.
The problem occurs when we try to load the boot image after choosing PXE, it takes more than an hour to load it when it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
I tried rolling back to the old driver (8.6.128.2013) and use the Fast Ethernet adapter, use the Fast Ethernet adapter with the new driver and use the new adapter with the old driver, but it's still slow in any case, so
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the new Surface and not the Ethernet adapter.
Anyone have an idea what could be the problem here? Anyone having issues with Surface Pro 3 and SCCM 2012?

I would imagine you have upgraded to R2, have you also applied KB2905002.
This hasn't got anything to do with the TFTP loading phase of the boot image.
Similar thread to this can be found here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a6d80714-dc26-43db-a071-93eaee267122/surface-pro-2-surface-ethernet-adapter-super-slow-pxe?forum=configmanagergeneral
I already asked in that thread the same question, but how about normal PCs that are connected to the same network segment as the Surface devices, do they boot slow also?

I'm about to set up a nearly identical VSS pair for another facility.
I just downloaded the latest SY3 version of IOS for the new pair, and there is a boot image available:
    s2t54-boot-mz.SPA.151-2.SY3.bin
I just don't know why I would want or need that.  Can anyone explain? I'm not a newbie by any means, but I just don't know why I'd need it.  Right now, in the bootdisk: volume, I just have my IOS image: s2t54-advipservicesk9-mz.SPA.151-2.SY2.bin         That was all that was in there before, but now that I'm building this new pair, I copied s2t54-advipservicesk9-mz.SPA.151-2.SY3.bin onto the same volume.
I understand that if I set a boot variable I can tell it to boot from one image or the other, but what does the BOOTLDR variable do for me.  If I were to set the BOOTLDR variable to bootdisk:/s2t54-boot-mz.SPA.151-2.SY3.bin    then what does that do for me?  Right now, if I reboot, (until I added that 2nd image) it will just boot the only image in that directory with no issue.
What am I missing? Do I need to upgrade or use this boot image for anything?
Thanks for any tips you can provide!
    Tim

    Tim,
In simple terms, the bootldr file is the helper file to load the IOS.
The BOOTLDR environment variable specifies the  Flash file system and filename that contains the boot loader image  required to load system software.
The variable defines the primary Cisco  IOS image that will load the final image from another source.
we need to set the BOOTLDR environment variable to specify  the Flash device and filename of the boot loader image.
For Old version of IOS, there is a requirement of boot loader image to boot up the IOS image.
But for the latest version of IOS, no need for boot loader image.
Below are few things happen when the device boots:-
    1. The router initially boots into ROMMON (this is your bootstrap code, which you can see in the show version command).
    2. Then the router loads into the bootloader code (this is the bootloadr code, which you see in show version). This bootloader code is just an intermediate step between the ROMMON mode and the IOS mode.
    3. The router then boots into the IOS mode from the bootloadr mode.
So if you do not mention the bootloadr specifically by giving the "boot bootloadr" command, the router will assume the bootloadr to be in bootflash of the device and try to boot it from there. If you mention the "boot bootloadr flash:...." command, then the router will look for the bootloadr in the flash (instead of the bootflash). Thats the only difference.
However, in both cases, if you have a valid IOS to boot into, then the router will come up without a problem, irrespective of the fact whether bootloadr image is in bootflash or flash.

  • Unable to import Windows 7 boot images

When we installed our SCCM 2012 server, no boot images appear to have been created. I have since upgraded to R2, and added CU3, and there are still no boot images available.  I would like to add boot images for Windows 7 x64 but so far have been
completely unsuccessful.  I have tried creating images with MDT on the server, and they will not import. I have also created them with WAIK 3.0 with the WAIK 3.1 Supplement from a Windows 7 machine, and those will also not import. In every situation I
receive the following error: The specified UNS path does not contain a valid WIM file or you do not have permission to access it.  Specify a valid path.  This occurs if I try to import from a share on the sccm server, or from a share on
another computer.  The permissions on the share are set at Everyone--full control share permission, and  NTFS permissions are set to give the system account, the computer account and domain admins full control. The SMSProv.log file shows the
following error on each failed attempt: Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due to error 80070002. I have read everything I can find and tried everything that people are mentioning that has fixed the problem for them, and so far
no success.  I feel like I must be missing something, but I'm not sure where else to look.  Any suggestions will be most appreciated!

    Uninstalled and reinstalled ADK--no improvement.
Every time I try to import a boot image, the SMSProv log shows this:

  • R2 upgrade and custome boot images

    Hi Guys
What happens to the custom boot images after the upgrade to R2 from SP1? There are some boot images customised to be able to connect to 802.1x secured wired network and I was wondering what will happen to them after upgrade?

They're not gone after the upgrade so there's nothing to re-import thus yes you can still use them although boot images based on WinPE 4.0 are not technically supported in R2 (though they should work). You won't be able to add drivers to them or
maintain them in the console either. You should put in the effort to customize WinPE 5.0 based boot images for the long run though.
Also note that Win8 won't be supported anymore after October of this year (http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?alpha=Windows+8&Filter=FilterNO&wa=wsignin1.0) so
you should plan to move to Win 8.1 Update ASAP for your deployments.

  • 64-bit Boot Image Drivers Are Not Working

I've been deploying Windows 7 x86 and x64 for years. I've been using the same 32-bit boot image for both and it's been working great.
We've decided to take the plunge and go all x64 moving forward.  I want to switch to a 64-bit boot image so I don't have to curate the drivers for two architectures.
I've created a 64-bit boot image, and included all of the 64-bit versions of the drivers in my 32-bit boot image, but they don't seem to be working.  I've tried booting 3 different models, but I receive "Failed to find a valid network adapter."
I've looked within the boot image, because I wanted to see the driver files.  Either I just don't know where I'm looking, or they're in the "Files" folder where each file is renamed to a number.
What might I have done wrong?

I've solved my problem by downloading and importing the Dell WinPE driver pack.  Now I've just got to add the USB 3.0 drivers (I support laptops that don't have optical drives), and I'll be set.

  • Mdt integration boot image and SCCM boot image

I created a MDT task sequence in SCCM and went through all the steps for setting up the toolkit and settings and boot image. After all that, I distributed everything to my DP. When i try to boot to pxe and run that new MDT task sequence it finds the pxe
server, but just sits at "Contacting server" for some time until it times out. If I select the SCCM boot image in the task sequence properties then it works. the one created when i create the task sequence doesn't.
    Any Idea?

Sounds like you didn't enable the boot image for PXE. This is a checkbox at the bottom of the Data Source page in the properties of the boot image.

  • Default or custom boot image

Hi to everyone. Currently I am in a process of learning SCCM 2012 R2, having experience in working with MDT & WDS. I want to perform capturing of reference virtual Windows 7 machine image and to deploy it later to bare-metal virtual machine. In order
to do this I have to create task sequence media and while creating it I have to choose boot image. Since I have to "inject" vmxnet3 network drivers into boot image before using it for creation of task sequence media, what is recommended practice
    - doing so with default boot image (for example x64 flavour of it) or adding Windows 7 boot image into SCCM and injecting these drivers into it? In MDT I did not have any default boot images so I had to add them from Windows 7 installation media and inject
    these network drivers into them.

No consequence. As Darrick says IT Admins often add their own custom images. However that is not essential. If you're just learning keep it simple.

  • Set PXE boot image

I'm having a problem similar to what's described at https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1398dc34-1672-4336-92fc-5cb72de031d5/locking-selected-pxe-boot-image?forum=configmanagerosd
We are running SCCM 2012 R2 (upgraded from SP1) We have a 64 bit and and a 32 bit boot image. The 64 bit has "Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point" unchecked. The 32 bit image is checked. Clients are still trying to boot
64 bit. We had using the 32 bit image for months (before and after R2 upgrade) I was making changes to the 64 bit image and suddenly it decided it was the PXE boot image. How can I get SCCM to go back the the 32bit boot.wim?
    Here's what I've tried:
    1) Right click 32 bit boot wim and update distribution points
    2) Deploy a new TS that is set to use the 32 bit boot.wim.
    3) Reboot the SCCM server (we have a single server, single distribution point)
What else can we do to get back to a working state with PXE boot?

In addition to the other comments, 1 and 3 are effectively meaningless in this context.
#2 will work per Jorgen's and Doug's comments -- this comes down to the fact that if there is any ambiguity as to which boot image should be used (usually because the system has multiple possible task sequences targeted to it that have different boot images),
then the boot image associated with the task sequence having a deployment with the highest ID is used; i.e., the boot image for the most recently deployed TS (as Doug stated also).
Because you've already seemingly addressed this, it sounds like you may have simply switched the boot image associated with the TS on accident and you should verify this first.

As Torsten said,  please ensure that you have an x86 and x64 boot image configured and deployed, regardless of the architecture of the OS that
you wish to deploy. Secondly, ensure that the boot images for both architectures have the network drivers for the respective model that you are imaging injected.
