Boot image upgrade for SG300-28P

Hi,
I have an SG300-28P and I need to upgrade both the boot & firrmware versions.
The problem is I can't find the boot file anywhere, the only file available on the Cisco downloads page is the firmware file ('.ros')
These are my current versions:
show ver
SW version    1.3.5.58 ( date  10-Oct-2013 time  17:15:41 )
Boot version    1.0.0.4 ( date  08-Apr-2010 time  16:37:57 )
HW version    V01
And I get this warning at boot...
** Boot version is incompatible with the system image.   **
** Some new features have been disabled.                 **
** Please update to newest boot version.                 **
Hence the need to upgrade.
Cheers Ian

ian-heath,
When you download:
Sx300 Firmware Version 1.3.5.58
Sx300_FW_Boot_1.3.5.58.zip
The zip file ha a copy of the firmware and also a copy of the boot code. The boot code needs to be upgraded via tftp server. After the boot code is upgraded, download and install the latest firmware Release 1.3.7.18. (No boot code with this one)

  • Image upgrade for 2811-Error SWIM5004

    Hi ,
While doing the image repository of the 2811 routers I am receiving the below error, these errors only appearing when I am doing image upgrade/repository for 2811 routers only.
We cannot use the snmp write due to company policy. If any other solution exist then please advise me.
"SWIM1125: Failed to copy the image to Flash due to the reason - SWIM5004: Cannot initiate SNMP-set operation.
The SNMP Write Community String might be wrong.
Check whether the correct SNMP Write Community String is entered in Device and Credential Repository..
Retry the operation. If the problem persists, check the Bug Toolkit application for any known issues on the running image version.
We are using SNMP v3 and have checked the SNMP settings ,it is ok.
We have also verified that the TFTP service is working properly on the Ciscoworks server.
    I am using
    LMS:3.2
    RME:4.3.1
    THANKS

If you cannot use SNMP write access, you will not be able to use SWIM to upgrade this 2811 using TFTP.  In order to upgrade the 2800s, RME will perform an SNMP Set of the CISCO-FLASH-MIB to trigger a copy of the image from the RME server to the router.  You can use SCP instead in which case the device will be the server.  In order to do this, you need to have SSH configured on the device, and the user configured in DCR must be allowed to login to the device with enable level access.

  • SG300-28P noise level... (fan control)

    Hello,
May be somebody can help me. In official information for SG300-28p noise level is 40.6 dB, but in fact its too noisy. Is it possible to change speed of fans? I use only 8 PoE ports.
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrey

    Hi Andrey,
I placed a sound meter within 6 inches of the Right hand side of my SG300-28P  and found a average dB level of 47
I rested a sound meter on top of my SG300-28P  and found a average dB level of 59-60dB  .
I used my motorola atria phone in conjunction with a Sound Meter ver 1.4.3 dB meter app to perform the measurements.
My measurements were not done according to any standards based approach for measurements of sound level of machines.

  • DaRT Tools in SCCM Boot Image

I'm looking for a way to integrate DaRT into my SCCM/PXE environment.  I'm not using MDT integration, but want to give technicians the option to start an OS deployment or go to DaRT, all from a network boot.  Originally, I had my DaRT boot images,
one for each OS that we support, but I found that the systems were booting into the DaRT images instead of the SCCM boot images.  Does anyone have any input on what they do or how to inject the DaRT tools into an existing boot image?  (I assume that
if the tools were present, I could just add a variable to my HTA to skip all steps except for a winrec step)
    Best, Jacob I'm a PC.

I have recently purchased a hybred 750GbHDD as an upgrade for my MAC Book Pro (Intell Version) I have a boot camp partition to the original 500GB HDD. How can I expand both partitions to fit the new drive?
I have tried bootcamp and have had no luck due to the fact that boot camp doesn't see the additional HDD space of 250Gb. What am I not doing?

Ouch, well there is a problem.
This is the stack of partitions on your old drive
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
This is the same stack on your new drive imaged from the old one.
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (50GB say)
    Bootcamp (50GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
    Emtpy Space (100GB say)
    This is what you want
    EFI (hidden)
    Lion (100GB say)
    Bootcamp (100GB say)
    Lion Recovery Partiton (hidden)
EFI has to be at the top of the drive and Lion Recovery has to be at the bottom of the drive.
And you only have four partitions.
You can't move the Lion Recovery Partition or Bootcamp partiton, however you can expand the Lion Partition into empty space below it. (but can't delete or move the Lion Recovery partition)
Your Duplicator duplicated perfectly, too perfectly Likely would work with same sized drives/partitions.
This is what your going to need to do.
You need to move the Bootcamp partition to a blank external drive using WinClone and disconnect. This is so you have two backups of it. (one on your old 500GB drive)
You will need a drive enclousre or IDE/SATA to USB adapter cable for the older 500GB drive and option key boot from it. (some enclosures can't be booted from so check first Other World Computing is good place to ask)
Download the free Carbon Copy Cloner, grab any new files off the new 750GB internal drive to the old 500GB your booted from.
Open Apple's Disk Utility and Erase with Zero option the entire internal 750GB drive and let it rip, this will map off as many bad sectors and improve reliability.
Now use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 500GB Lion + Lion Recovery Partitions to the internal 750GB, it will "fix" things and place Lion Recovery at the bottom of the drive where it belongs, give all the extra space to OS X Lion.
Next your going to have to follow WinClones instructions to restore your Bootcamp, likely you will have to recreate the Bootcamp partition first (in Bootcamp) to the size you want and then clone. Likely Winclone may "fix" Windows to recognize it's in a new larger partition now. I don't know you'll have to check as I haven't used it.
When Bootcamp creates the partition it will place it near the bottom next to the Lion Recovery Partition.
As you know you will have to re-validate Windows with Lord Redmond or it expires as you changed the hardware.

  • R2 upgrade and custome boot images

    Hi Guys
What happens to the custom boot images after the upgrade to R2 from SP1? There are some boot images customised to be able to connect to 802.1x secured wired network and I was wondering what will happen to them after upgrade?

They're not gone after the upgrade so there's nothing to re-import thus yes you can still use them although boot images based on WinPE 4.0 are not technically supported in R2 (though they should work). You won't be able to add drivers to them or
maintain them in the console either. You should put in the effort to customize WinPE 5.0 based boot images for the long run though.
Also note that Win8 won't be supported anymore after October of this year (http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?alpha=Windows+8&Filter=FilterNO&wa=wsignin1.0) so
you should plan to move to Win 8.1 Update ASAP for your deployments.

  • Boot image for SRW2024

    Hi,
Where can i download boot images for SRW2024?
Is it correct that i have to upgrade the boot image to install the 1.2.2 firmware?

You may not download boot images, they are only available through the SBSC. You will not require one. What you will need to be careful of is "a" and "b" versions. If by chance you have flashed the wrong version, you may use the xmodem procedure posted here to upload the correct one.

  • Upgrade to SCCM R2 have to recreate boot image and TS

Wanna ask, I have upgraded from my SCCM from SP1 CU3 to R2. But i noticed that in boot image, the WinPE tab is missing thus i cannot include the network driver. Anyway that i can make the tab reappear again? Net says have to recreate the boot image and TS...
    http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Research/tabid/62/EntryId/117/A-Geeks-Guide-for-upgrading-to-ConfigMgr-2012-R2-and-MDT-2013.aspx

This often happens after R2 upgrade. If your boot image does not have 6.3.9600 version then you will not be able to manipulate it using the R2 console. You don't need MDT to create a new one though (this new version).
You can use dism. See here. It's very easy. I had to do it yesterday.

  • Cannot install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on my macbook. I also installed Boot Camp 3.0.1 after Windows 7 installation, however, WiFi did not work. Therefore, I needed to upgrade to the latest Boot Camp 3.2. However, when I tried to install Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for Windows 7 74 bit, I got an error message saying that I needed Boot Camp 3.1 installed first. I CANNOT find Boot Camp 3.1 upgrade for Windows 7 64 bit on Apple website at all. Can someone please help me on this? Is there a way to get the complete Boot Camp 3.2 package that can simply be installed on version 3.0.1??

here is the link to bootcamp 3.1 for windows 7 64 bit http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1336 .. and no there is no package that can be applied to the windows side to go from 3.0.1 to 3.2

  • Creating a USB boot image for LabviewRT

I have installed Labview 8.2 and the "update 8.2.1" for Labview RT Standard version from the web.
I am trying to create a bootable image for a target Laptop PC, using a USB jump drive.
When I run NI-MAX and select TOOLS->RT Disk Utilities->Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive, a popup dialog appears that says:
"This utility will reformat a USB drive with a Labview Real-Time boot USB utility for use with a USB boot-capable Desktop PC. Make sure the USB drive is connected to your computer before you continue.
Do you want to use this utility?"
Clicking on Yes, shows a dialog selection window, with a single entry ="Version 8.2", and an OK and Cancel button.
Selecting the OK button, shows an error popup titled: Measurement & Automation Explorer" with text="Unable to detect USB drives"
The jump drive is 32MB and is visible in WINDOWS Explorer.
WHY will NI-MAX not see or use this jump-drive ?
( I have tried two different jump drives from two different manufacturers)

    Hello,
Does your jump drive conform to the USB Mass Storage Device Class?  What drive letter are you using?  Did you create it by running the command line utility "subst"?
Have you tried doing this on a different computer?  Are the USB ports 1.1 or 2.0?

  • For Those Who Can't Boot After Upgrading To 10.5.6

For Those Who Can't Boot After Upgrading To 10.5.6
(and i am one of those)
how is Apple supposed to make them able to install future fixes and updates
once they finally acknowledge and address this horrible bug?
will they send free bootable CDs with the updates to 10.5.6?

What "Boot ROM version" do you have (check in the system profiler under "Hardware")? If it's not MBP31.0070.B07 or MBP21.00A5.B08, then you will need to update your MacBook Pro's firmware. To do this, you might need to connect an external display and mouse/keyboard, and then run the computer with the lid closed to bypass the laptop's monitor. Then apply the firmware patch and reboot the system. This might also be doable via "Screen Sharing" if you have that enabled and have another mac handy.
The firmware update is here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/macbookproefifirmw areupdate151.html

  • Driver Signing for Boot Images - 2008r2 Site Server

I was trying to update a driver in our boot image due to instability in the previous version.  This new driver officially supports Server 2012 R2 (as well as 2012, in a single driver) and is digitally signed.
However, the certificate is not recognized by our Site Server which runs on 2008r2  (because it is a 2012 driver), and DISM.log is flagging the driver as Unsigned, and I cannot update the boot image - it fails every time.
I'm able to work around this by injecting it myself with /forceunsigned, but it doesn't seem to be the "correct" way of handling this.  I can also do the mount and driver add on my 8.1 workstation, and not need /forceunsigned (thus proving
    it IS signed.)
While it's flagging almost every other driver as unsigned (which is incorrect) - those other drivers aren't deemed "boot-critical", so it allows them.
This one is a SCSI driver, hence it blocking it.
Signature status of driver \\SCCMServer\ConfigMgrDrivers\Server 2012\SCSIAdapter\hpsa2_62.8.0.64\hpsa2.inf is: UNSIGNED - CDriverPackage::InitSignatureStatus
     Cannot install non-signed boot-critical drivers on amd64 images. Use /forceunsigned switch to override. \\SCCMServer\ConfigMgrDrivers\Server 2012\SCSIAdapter\hpsa2_62.8.0.64\hpsa2.inf - CDriverManager::CheckClientAddDriverScenarios(hr:0x80070032)
For those of us who have our site servers on 2008r2, I'd call this a bug.  Anyone else getting this?  Is my workaround the supported solution for people not running site servers on Server 2012 / 2012 R2?

I had similar problem with one driver in the past. The way I 'fixed' my situation was that I manually injected the driver to .wim -image with DISM and then re-added the Boot Image to ConfigMgr 2012. The driver won't show up in the properties of the boot
image but I didn't really care, because I just wanted to get this thing working.

I've seen others get this error code and fix it by injecting the correct storage drivers.  In my case I believe I have the correct storage drivers.  In a separate MDT 2013/WDS environment I can deploy
8.1 to the same machine using the same drivers with no problems so my drivers appear to allow proper access to the drive.  When I check the volumes with DiskPart they all appear to be fine.  The C:\ volume has the _SMSTaskSequence folder on it with
files so it is certainly writable.  The system is set for UEFI mode.  Of course if I change it to Legacy mode this problem doesn't happen.  I have also integrated MDT 2013 into SCCM console and both an SCCM task sequend and an MDT task sequence
do the same thing. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

From the error, the C could not be the staging location because it is system partition. You need to format a fixed drive to NTFS partition and try again.
