Boot loop when installing os x 10.10.2 from os x 10.6.8

I've been trying to install OS X Yosemite (v10.10.2) on my 17 " Mid 2009 Mac Book Pro with OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6.8) for the last four days. The upgrade downloads from the App Store without issue but gets caught in a continuous "boot loop" (i.e. restarts continuously) during the last stage of the installation process (i.e. grey screen with an apple logo and loading bar below it). My macbook pro is clean, virus free and meets all of the software upgrade requirements (4GBs RAM, more than 8GBs of HD space available, verified Apple ID/I Cloud Account,10.6.8 or later OS X Software, etc.). I have contacted chat support and made the corrections that were suggested but the installation boot loop continues to stall the installation process. What can I do to solve the challenges I've experienced with the installation process?

Eric,
Many thanks for responding to my query. About this Mac contains, OS X Utilities 1.0 (216). Reinstalling Yosemite 10.10.2 does not help so I just end up restoring 10.6.8 from my time machine back up. I have tried reinstalling 10.10.2 and Repairing my Mac HD from Disk Utilities a number of times only to end up back at the same gray apple screen with the loading bar getting half way before macbook pro just restarts itself over and over again. Ughh... frustrating!

  • Cant see the boot drive when installing, what to do?

Trying to install windows 7 on my MacBookPro 15” late 2013
Using a SDcard and Boot disk
Using Bootcamp Setup Assistant to create a partition and a boot disk via a 64 Win7 installer ISO file
Everything looks fine, it copys everything to the SDCard, formats it to Fat, copying drivers and all, reboots but when the install screen comes up, it says that it cant find any bootable disk
Have done it three times now; with different ISOs, but cant get it to see the installer, any tricks?
    Thanks

One option is to download the drivers on the SDCard and just put the Windows ISO on the 4GB USB. If you are installing Windows 8.I have two separate disks of roughly 4GB each for 32-bit and 64-bit. I have created iso from the 64-bit disk on my desktop and can have Bootcamp drivers (~950MB) and the ISO fit on a 4GB USB.
Also, after Windows install, you have read-only access to the OSX HFS+ partition, so you can copy Bootcamp drivers directly from the OSX side to the Windows Documents folder and install Bootcamp drivers, without needing the SDCard.

  • Blue Screen error using Boot Camp when installing XP on the MacBook Pro

I have been trying to install Windows XP Professional (with SP2) on my MacBook and I keep encountering blue screen errors during the install. I successfully create the Windows partition with Boot Camp (v2.0) and then Windows install begins. However, during the setup process it hangs and then eventually throws an error showing a blue screen. There has been a different error each time I've tried to install. I've booted in OSX and then deleted the Windows partition through Boot Camp and then attempted the process from the beginning five separate times and each time I get an error during the initial install phase.
Its not a matter of the installation CD because i borrowed 3 differnt copies from some friends and i still have the same issues.
Once, I managed to actually start windows XP however it was full of errors probably as parts of it weren't properly installed due to the the blue screens that made me reboot several times.
Am I the only one having this problem??
Is this a matter of the hardware? Can you think of any possible solution?
(I used NTFS did everything propperly I'm 100% sure)(I tried FAT as well)(still nothing)
    PLEASE HELP

Can you read and write from your optical drive? I would have it checked by burning something to it and seeing if it can be read.
I have noted a link, with some information that may be helpful, for you to check out.

I would repair permissions before your next attempt too.
If this fails, I would contact Apple.

  • 9360: boot loop when enabling bluetooth

v 7.1 bundle 2727... device is fully updated
Tried: draining/reseating the battery, hard reset, reinstalling the OS via apploader, plugging into the wall and leaving the battery out but the behavior persists.
    Thanks for any help

Don't know. Truly this is shots in the dark to see if I hit anything.....
Are you using an app that in turn is utilizing bluetooth? Or does this happen when simply enabling bluetooth?
When you reinstalled the OS, did you test before restoring data and installing apps?
Somewhat along the same lines as first question, after you reloaded the OS, did the reboot occur when bluetooth was turned on, before you paired with whatever, or did it occur during the pairing operation, or after the pairing operation?
..... I would be interested in knowing if the reboot occurs with a clean OS with no data and no added apps, and if it occurs because of simply turning on bluetooth.

  • Satellite A505D-S6958 why windows booting slow when installed new windows updates

    Good day,
My laptop boots slow than usual after installing windows update why is it so? i restored it to previous setting then it boots a little faster.

    Satellite A505D-S6958
The way to handle this is to install each update - on at a time - and check the boot each time.
Once you identify the culprit, we can proceed.
Microsoft offers free support for troubles with Windows updates, but we must need to know which one.

  • Infinite loop when trying to unzip Adobe CS6 downloaded from "Arvato"

The downloaded CS6 file "Download_Package.zip" does not open into a functional file (I tried this with Safari and with Chrome with the same results, all cookies enabled).
    Here's what I did:
    1.  Buy Adobe CS6 "design and web premium" academic version from my university bookstore, they gave me an Adobe card with a number on it.
    2. Go to the website indicated on the card, entered product code on the back of the card
    3.  Received email from [email protected] a few seconds later, with instructions, which includes the 36 digit "Redemption Code"
    4. As instructed in the email message, went to http://www.adobe.com/go/getserial.  This bounces me to the website https://redeem.licenses.adobe.com/getserial/#
    5. Inserted Adobe ID and Password where requested.
    6.  Entered the redemption code, Made a note of the displayed serial number
    7.  Pressed the "Download" button.
    8.  The downloaded CS6 file "Download_Package.zip" showed up in my download folder.  It automatically unziped itself to a file called "Download_Package.app" with an icon that reads "Arvato Bertelsmann"
    9.  Clicked on the "Arvato Bertelsmann" icon and it opened a window.  Pressed the button "start" and it downloads a 4.53 GB file into a folder called "Package" that contains the  archive file called "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip".
    10.  When I double click on this file, it creates a new file called "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip.cpgz"
    11.  Then when I double click on this file, it just archives itself into a new .zip file.  This then becomes an infinite loop.

I was able to unzip the file "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip" using stuffit expander, free from www.stuffit.com.  I am not sure why the expander native in Mac OSX v 10.9 ("Archive Utility.app") wasn't able to do this (I tried repeatedly for 2 days).  But stuffit expander worked fine and now the software is running...

  • Sony SmartWatch 2 boot loop

    Hello,
my Sony SmartWatch 2 is caught in a boot-loop, when turned on, it shows first the Sony logo, then a progress-bar, as if new firmware was installing, and after it finishes, the watch restarts, and again: logo, progress-bar, restart...
I think that flashing a new firmware would solve this issue, but I cannot find the way to do it. This method was officialy supported by Sony, as this post testifies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch-2/help/reset-smartwatch-2-t3006929/post58321343#post58321...
but unfortunately, it no longer works.

  • P67a-c43 boot loop after bios update

Last night, I attempted to update the bios on my P67A-C43 (B3) board using the version 5.1 bios. After the BIOS installed, it restarted and came up with the "all settings were reset to default values. press f1 to run setup. press f2 to continue" I hit f2 and my system keeps resetting in an infinite boot loop. I was able to reset the BIOS using the reset button on the back of the board to get back to the bios prompt, but pressing either f1 or f2 puts it back into the boot loop. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
The blue screens started after a clean Bios flash to the 18b10 bios then eventually it stopped working complety (just doing the start up cycle over and over)
I had tried reseting cmos and it doesnt make a difference, the motherboard will not post , boot , start up at all so default settings cant be set (although reseting cmos would set to default anyway)
Each time the board goes through the start up cycle (i.e. upon pressing start button the board will start up with fans spinning for a second then shut down, start up again with fans spinning for a second then shut down, continuasly repeating until main power is removed) I have used a multimeter to measure the voltage read points on the board and they show that there is no vcore being suplied to the cpu but all other points show the voltage is being supplied to those componants, so imo that is where the problem lies and I would sugest that the other ppl who are having this issue to also try  measuring the voltage read points and see if the same thing is happening on thier boards .
If others are getting the same results (no vcore) then the msi techs should be informed of this issue..(imo)
1.8b10 still is a beta bios. I got random bluescreens with that one also at some point a blinking bios led. So I flashed back from secondary bios (using the first option (change disable in enable)in "security" in the EFI shell to allow flashing from secondary bios), blinking bios led now stopped, Then I flashed with 1.7, no issues sofar cpu now running stable at 4.5Ghz (already 2 days).

  • Boot loop - Galaxy S4

My Galaxy S4 is stuck in a boot loop since installing the latest Verizon download. How do I retrieve my photos off this telephone?
My PC recognizes the phone using a USB cable, but that's as far as I can get.

Do a Google search for "Cell Phone Boot Loop" and there will be a good number of things to try.  Most of them are for older phones, but since they are all Android one of them might work for you - Good Luck

  • IdeaPad S400 enters infinite loop after installing Windows 7

    Hello,
As the title says, my recently purchased computer fails to boot properly after installing the OS without a problem from a bootable USB. It starts normally with the boot screen, turns black, shuts down, and then starts all over again. I have not tampered with the bios (aside from the boot device priority), so I have no idea why this would happen at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi aleluja,
Thanks For posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
Am sorry to hear about the issue that you’re facing and I’d like to advise you to access the BIOS of the system and Return BIOS to the factory default settings by pressing on F9 and also please make sure that the security boot option is Disabled and then press on F10 to save and exit the settings and then try to Boot your system,
If still the same you can try to install Windows 7 back again after resetting the BIOS,
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Soha

  • Boot camp not recognize keyboard and mouse when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit

    Hi,
I have some issue when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit using boot camp. after done partitioning the windows drive and when boot to windows installation process, i've got stuck in the first screen when choosing the language. it seems that the keyboard and mouse are not detected.
i'm using boot camp ver. 5.0.
does anyone have similar problem with me?

I have finally successfully installed Windows 7 x64 on MacBook Air 13.3" (2013) thru Bootcamp.
Problem:  After Windows 7 install thru BootCamp, I got to the first login screen and not input devices (Mouse, keyboard, USB) worked.   I tried to boot into Windows Safemode, but I received the error  "Windows can not complete installation in Safe Mode".
Cause:  WIndows 7 does not have native USB 3.0 drivers, included on the install images.
Resolution:  I downloaded the latest device drivers with thru BootCamp and copied them to the USB Flash Drive that had my bootable Windows 7 x64 install on it.  The second option in BootCamp is "Download Support Media".  This does more than just download drivers.  It creates a file called "autoattended.xml".  This is key as it tells Windows during the install process to use the device drivers that you download.  Otherwise, you need to do it manually, which you can't because you have no mouse or keyboard.
NOTE:  I had no need of a super drive because I had all the files on one USB flash drive.  Therefore, I don't think it matter which side of the MBA the USB drive was plugged in, as other solutions suggested.

Do I need to install boot camp on Windows 7 as well as on Lion? I already installed it some years ago on Leopard when installing Windows Vista on my Macbook Pro. But now after installing Windows 7, many things in windows doesn't work (sound etc.). I made a clean installation because I needed to go from 32 bit to 64 bit.
Or should I just update bootcamp in Lion? (cause when I search for "boot camp" in Windows 7 there's no result)

  • Error when installing boot camp services 2.0

When installing the windows drivers (whatever is auto installed from the leopard cd when in windows via bootcamp) I get the following error message:
The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation
I AM the administrator and only user. I have gone through and done the registry fixe mentioned here, as well as another one I cant remember the link for:
    http://bonkel.wordpress.com/2008/04/07/the-system-administrator-has-set-policies -to-prevent-this-installation/
This has occurred because I installed SP3, and then realized I should upgrade to bc 2.1 . So, I uninstalled SP3 (nightmare.) and when I tried to uninstall bc it would not let me because 2.1 had a previously failed install attempt. I used a program called perfect uninstall 5.5 to uninstall it, but clearly a bit in the registry is left. I have gone through manually and deleted all I could find about boot camp, but help is much appreciated as I still get this message!!!

Could you share your solution, in case someone ever finds this thread looking for a solution for a similar problem?
    Thanks in advance
