Boot options on satellite l655-1dv

hallo , I recently had to find advanced boot options menu to set EFI etc ... I was trying to find something in BIOS (setup) with no luck . A few minutes ago I pushed by mistake something on keyboard on TOSHIBA screen and a screen appeared with information that I was trying to find !! (boot manager etc) . Unfortunately it was a mistake and I am trying to find the key I pressed but I cant go to this menu again . At startup TOSHIBA screen , it says that the only available "commands" is boot menu (F12) and setup (F2) . How can I go to this menu again ?
Thanks !

  • Missing "Repair Computer" in Advanced Boot Options - Satellite A300

My new Satellite A300 will not load and I didn't have a chance to make a recovery CD.
I have made a backup of the Hard drive and now want to restore the settings back to the beginning.
I tried downloading a Vista recovery disc but the laptop won't boot from that.
Pressing F8 after turning it on doesn't give me the option to repair the computer and pressing zero on start up doesn't make any difference.
Is there a way of telling the computer to look at the partitioned section of the Hard drive and boot from there?
    Help is much appreciated

Repair my Computer option in Advanced Boot option will be shown if your notebook is installed with recovery image. You can install your own Vista and copy HDDRecovery folder back but this option in advanced boot option will be gone and you will not be able to install OS using this option because it will not exist anymore.
    There is nothing to do.

    Thx for any reply :)

    Hey, thx for reply.
It's my friend's laptop and not mine :) And the reason why he wants to install Windows 7 from USB is that I adviced that to him. As I have older Satellite laptop and I prefer to install it in that way - it's faster and i guess more precise :) Plus, my Mat****a DVD mechanic has been screwed for one year now (and I am not going to pay 200 $ for a new internal DVD mechanic at all).

  • Satellite P305, boot options menu not show for usb flashdrive

P305S8822 Boot Option Menu did not show item for starting with USB flash drive.  THere was an option for a usb external hard drive but that device was not connected while starting the computer.  The usb FLASH DRIVE was connected.  Does Satellit Laptop P305-S8822 have or supposed to have a boot option  choice available for usb flash drive?

I don't believe computers of that vintage could boot from a USB connection. (But you have FireWire and modem ports.)

  • Satellite L840/020 - Cannot enter BIOS after enabling fast boot option

I have a Toshiba L840/020 (PSK8LA-020007) notebook. I recently installed an Intel 330 Series SSD and Windows 8 Pro RTM 6.2.9200 MSDNAA on it and enabled Fast boot option in the BIOS (Boot speed > Fast).
Now I can not get into the BIOS no matter what I do. I tried pressing power button while holding down F2 (as suggested by few other forums) , up on failing that I tried all F keys and Esc, but nothing works. I also tried repeatedly pressing F2 while booting, connected an external USB keyboard and pressed F2 on that , but no matter what I do I cannot get into the BIOS.
When I go to Download section of Toshiba support > Windows 8 64bit, I can also see a BIOS update for my notebook, but when I try to install that I get the following error :
    Error
    Flash process will be terminated!
Current platform have secure boot feature, it must provide NV storage location by IHISI interface.
Please contact OEM BIOS engineer to add the feature.
Without this IHISI interface, the authenticate variables will be modified or cleared by flash process.
If you understand the risk and still want to flash.
You can add the following setting in platform.ini to ignore error.
    [EngineeringErrorDisable]
    SkipSecureBootProtectionCheck=1
    OK
I didnt change platform.ini and flash, without first seeking help from the community.
Please let me know how to get into the BIOS. Thanks.

    Hi
Try firstly INS button and then F2 button.
Then you should be able to access the BIOS I recommend disabling the fast boot in the BIOS if you could successfully enter the BIOS.
    Regarding the BIOS update.
I checked the Toshiba AU driver page and it seems that the BIOS v6.20 is the same like for Win 7.
I think that the BIOS update should be done running the Toshiba preinstalled system since Win 8 is not officially on the market yet and from my knowledge there are some big restrictions updating the BIOS running Win 8

  • Display Driver Issues on Satellite L655-S5150 with Win10

I upgraded my Toshiba satellite (L655-S5150) to Windows 10 last week.  Upgrade appeared successfully initially however shortly after the Win10 interface loads the computer will shut itself off.  After exploring a number of possibilities it turns out the computer runs fine in safe mode or in low resolution mode selected from the mainteanance menu.  So I feel quite certain like other issues I have seen with Win10 that have similarities to this one the issue is with the display driver.  I tries updating the driver through device manager but it said I had the latest.  Tried the Toshiba support pages and seem to be nothing new there for the "Intel HD Graphics" display driver.  So seems at the moment I am stuck at low res mode if I want to have a functioning computer.  Any ideas if there might be an updated driver out there, or can I change to something a little more generic that at least might allow me to boot in to normal mode and stay running?

Yes, have tried "update drivers" option and Windows Update option.  No luck yet.  Also searched manually for an updated driver on the Toshiba site and Intel site (Intel HD Graphics display adapter).  I wish I could just load a generic display driver but every time I remove the Intel display driver and reboot it comes back after boot.  Really a fix to the problem would be nice by anyone..... Microsoft, Toshiba, Intel, anyone......

  • How to switch off the LCD on Satellite L655-1JV?

    Hello!
I have a *Toshiba Satellite L655-1jJV*, and I would like to know how can I *switch the LCD off*. I've tried to use the F5 key, but it doesn't give me the option to change (always the LCD on unless I connect an external monitor .
Of course, I mean, switch the lcd off while, for example, I got the monitor up, and I'm listening to music...
I'm really looking for the answer!

In users manuals document is clearly described when you should use FN+F5 key combination and it has nothing to do with switching LCD off.
If you dont need display and it should be OFF while you are listening music please change display settings in power options. In power settings there is option Turn off the display. Set it to 1 minute and everything will be OK.

  • Problem with updating bios toshiba satellite l655-s5144

Hello first of all having a good day, four months ago a problem with my laptop toshiba satellite l655-5144 I have something crazy ,happens that when starting Windows 7/8 freezes there and I can not access windows, I thought it was an error of hdd, but I think I'm surprised that it is not, since changing the hdd and still gives the same problem of being paralyzed in Home windows, all this began to update the BIOS to version 2.8 that turned out to be the operating profit that was for windows 8, not sure if this is due to the problem but I've tested the ram, hdd, cpu, etc and everything about the hardware works well and gives no problems, I think that the problem was caused by updating the BIOS to version 2.8, my question is whether you can return to the factory version was 2.2, or at least the previous version to 2.8 which was the one I worked thanks for your answers and spend time helping me, is the agradesco much.
And sorry for my bad English.
    Solved!

If anyone has the same problem as I leave then follow these steps:
1.Find BIOS version with which acquired the laptop
    2. Use of mnetodo booted by CD.
    3. Insert the CD from the boot.
    4. Upon resumption of the program ran hidden PC (that I saw no message)
    5. After restart, windows restart again and enter the bios to see if it had changed the version of this and it turned out was successful.
Well I hope this problem the laptop again, and thank you for deigning to read at least my problem.

  • 22 GB missing in my Satellite l655-s5105´s hard drive

Hi, I bought last december a Toshiba satellite L655-s5105 which has a 320 GB hard disk.
The disk is a Toshiba MK3265GSXN that in fact has 320 GB.
However, In my disk I only see as available space 284 GB.
When I use the computer management tool I see another two partitions : 1,46 GB labeled as recovery partition and 11,72 GB labeled primary partition, for a total of 298 GB.
¿ where are the other 22 GB located ?
I was told by customer support that it is a hidden partition for recovery disks, but ¿do I need 22GB for recovery disks? That is a lot of space.
Thanks a lot for your orientation.
    Regards,
    Juan

    JM, hello.
    >>> However, In my disk I only see as available space 284 GB.
This is too much difference to be the binary reason, 1000 for 1024 !
You might check in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management.  If you see that you have two partitions, the second one of +/- 36 GBs, this might be your Restore Partition as provided by many manifacturers nowadays. New Toshiba, hey ?
If this is the case, waste no time and do your Restore DVDs. To find out what I am talking about, search the User Manual in c:\ -> Toshiba, it will explain clearly the process.
Or go into the orb -> Toshiba -> Make Restore DVDs or something like this, I did mine and after you do this, the option is removed, it is a one-off, anti pirating. The Restore partition will stay there and can be accessed another way. A bit or reading involved here but do no shy away from reading all about your machine.         JP.

  • Satellite L655-1E3 keeps restarting in an infinite loop

    Hello,
It seems that I have installed to my Satellite L655 1E3 a non suitable BIOS update. My laptop now is never reaching the Windows startup and keeps restarting in every 3 seconds roughly after showing the Toshiba screen.
What I tried to do is to install again my Windows, by putting the Windows CD : not working when booting to the CD/DVD
I still have access to my data which are in the hard drive disk when I took it out from the laptop and made a transfer on other hard disk.
Can you please help me and suggest me some ideas to do?

    > It seems that I have installed to my Satellite L655 1E3 a non suitable BIOS update.
Im wondering how this would be possible as far as I know if you would try to update the BIOS using not compatible version, the BIOS update procedure would be interrupted and it would not be possible to flash the ROM module.
Therefore I dont think this might be the case.
However, you said you see the Toshiba splash screen.
Question: are you able to access the BIOS pressing F2 buttons?
In case this is possible, set the BIOS to default settings and try to boot up the unit again.
In case this is not possible, remove the AC adaptor and the battery.
Press and hold power button 30 sec long. Then connect both parts again and try to power up the unit.
Good luck and feedback would be appreciated

  • How to install recovery image on my Satellite L655-121?

    I Have a SATELLITE L655-121 Toshiba's labtop ,,,
I've made a Recovery to get rid of the problems i faced in Windows 8 beta ,, but the recovery didn't completed :(
Now i can't either repair or remake the recovery !! I've stuck !
I can't use the HDD Recovery that presents on ' D ' Driver !! and i don't have the CD on which the copy is present ,, i just have the Serial Number :D
The Widows is " 7 Home Premium OA "
The laptop is useless now ,, what should i do ? if i downloaded this Windows from Microsoft and used the S.N I have , should this work correctly ??

    >... but the recovery didn't completed
    How to understand this?
    > if i downloaded this Windows from Microsoft and used the S.N I have , should this work correctly ??
No. serial number has nothing to do with recovery image.
If you want to have original Toshiba recovery image installed on your notebook you must order Toshiba recovery disc - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
Other option is to install own OS version and later install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities additionally. All of them you can find and download from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Toshiba Satellite L655 Sound Stopped Working

So, yesterday it was working fine. Around 7pm, the volume stopped working. I would turn it up and everything, NOTHING happened.
Now I can't even open the volume thing. It's just an icon, that when i click on, nothing happens anymore.
    What do I do?

The probable reason none of the regulars have responded to this thread is that none of you have posted your full model name/number like Satellite L655-S5065, or your products part number like PSK2CU-00V001. Look on the Toshiba label on the bottom of your computer. We can probably safely assume you have Windows 7 64bit, but we really need your OS Version as well.
Let's try a proper system reset. Power off your system, unplug everything including the AC, remove the battery, press and hold down the power on button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, at the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, then try to boot into Windows again, and then see if this brings your sound back.
If that does not work, reply with all the above info for your individual systems.

  • Satellite L655-S5150 Poor connection to wireless on Battery after BIOS update.

Hi Folks, New to the Forum. Sorry if this was previously covered; however need help.
Brand new Satellite L655-S5150. Updated BIOS and Eco via Toshiba Bulletin board a few days ago and have experienced wireless connection cutting in and out. Noticed it only happens while on battery power. Tried changing driver power options with no luck(I did not restart after making this change) and then changed back to default. Is there a fix for this? Should I roll back BIOS? Should I return for another PC?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Alex
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am not sure what is going on? I have the same laptop. I have flashed my BIOS twice. I am not sure what to say. I have never had any kind of problems with anything. I bought a Cissco ethernet router that handles all bands. I hooked the router up to comcast turned the laptop on and all was done. Get this, then I bought a LexMark 3 all in one printer. Set it up turned it on and started printing with no cables used, wireless. Deal is I have been working with computers for 20 years. The other deal, if I am not infront of the computer that is having problems it is hard for me to tell what is going on. I just don't get it. You should be able to plug it in and go for it. If you have questions I will do my best to answer them. Maybe if I can talk one through it it can be passed on.

  • Satellite L655 - RAM upgrade causes system crash

I bought and inserted 2 4GB Kingston RAM chips. When I boot up the Windows and Ubuntu 14.04 (I have a dual boot system) crashes.
If I run a memory test from Ubuntu's boot menu the system freezes.
I put back the old RAM and all is well.
To solve this problem I tried upgrading the BIOS firmware using the software available from the Toshiba site, but that gives me an error saying that the battery needs to be fully charged and the AC adapter plugged in. Fully charged battery with charger plugged in still gives the same error. I replaced the battery, which was old and only lasted 5 minutes, but the error remains on the bios upgrade.
Any ideas what could be causing this would be appreciated.
Can I get hold of a BIOS upgrade CD ISO that does not check the battery and charger state? I promise I won't let the machine die while the bios upgrade goes ahead!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ferdi
Thanks for your reply. I'll contact my supplier to get the chips I have exchanged. Not sure which numbers are my part's number. I have this:
    Kingston Technology
    KVR16LS11/4
    4GB PC3L - 12800 CL11 204 SODIMM
    KTC TA01536 9U5469-045.A00LF R3161
My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L655 - 146
The fact that the BIOS upgrade does not work still bugs me, though. At least I have a new battery now.
    Thanks again.
