BOOT ORDER issue? MSI Z77 MPOWER + SSD Samsung 840pro
Hello
I have an MSI z77 MPower m/b - Intel i7/ 3770k and two hard disk drives...
First HHD (Samsung SSD 840PRO 256gb) connected on SATA Port 2.
Second HHD (WestedDigital WDC 2TB Green) connected on SATA Port 6.
The CDDVD is connected on Port 4.
The SSD has WIN7 .
The WDC 2TB, has 2 partitions. One with WIN8 and the other for BACKUP.
In the MSI BIOS under BOOT menu, i chose the HARD DISK DRIVE BBS Properties as shown :
Boot Option #1 Samsung SSD 840Pro
Boot Option #2 WDC WD20EARS-...
When I start my computer it usually boots on WIN7 from the SSD (1st choice).
The problem is that SOMETIMES after shutdown, the computers changes the BBS order and BOOTS on WIN8 from WDC.
When I re-enter on the BIOS the HARD DISK DRIVE BBS Properties is changed to:
Boot Option #1 WDC WD20EARS-...
Boot Option #2 Samsung SSD 840Pro
Can anyone help me with this boot issue?
Thanks,
Nikos
Other than updating the firmware of the SSD and mainboard: >> BIOSes<<
Use the disk management to make sure the boot partition of the WD drive isn't active.

Hi guys
I recently installed the MSI Z77 MPower after replacing it with the Asrock extreme 4 mobo which i had before, am currently having problems with the RAM it wont boot if i place them in the correct slots for dual channel configurations but if i place them in the last two slots the PC boots up fine.
My Ram is the G Skill Ripjaw X series 1600mhz model number: F3-12800CL8-4GBXM.
Its driving me nuts two motherboards and nothing working, i just hope its not relating to my CPU or something like that.
Please...please guys really need your help with this, because without it running in dual channel configuration my first build feels incomplete due to this problem.
Thanks in advanceHi guys thanks for the replies and sorry for the late reply has i said before my MSI MPOWER Z77 motherboard is totally brand new and i know for a fact that no bent pins in the cpu socket, from what i am aware of, if my RAM is related due to the type of RAM modules that i am using and you guys are suggesting corsair modules which ones do you guys recommend me getting. You know when i said only slot 3 and 4 only worked could that be in a result of the RAM am using or not....??
Thanks in advance guys -
MSI Z77 Mpower Code A0, and wi-fi not detected ...
Hello, from about 20 days I use the new mainboard MSI Z77 Mpower.
My system is composed as follows:
MSI Z77 Mpower, PC1500 DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Corsair Vengeance
1.5V CL9 (2x8GB), CPU Intel i5-3570K 3.4 GHz, SVGA ASUS GTX660 TI, Samsung SSD 128gb 840pro.
I installed windows8pro in UEFI mode with ssd disk partition gpt.
As bios setup is everything default except xmp profile enabled for the Rams, and UEFI boot-legacy because I have linux in another disc.
It all seems to work fine, but I have a few doubts_troubles !
1) Sometimes in debug LEDs, instead of the temperature appears the code A0 ... is it normal or it indicates a problem ?
2) I've never tried the Wi-Fi, it is normal that it only works if the LAN cable is disconnected ?
The problem I had with wi-fi is that sometimes the sistem said that the hardware was not found or not connected ... I tried to install the latest drivers without any success, after several attempts, I think I found the problem ...
Wi-Fi is connected to the mainboard, I think in the USB port, and for some reason it does not make contact, after pulling back slightly the 1 mm. module it started to work.
If instead I press slightly forward, (the pressure that normally is used to attach the antenna) it loses the link ... Do I have to leave it like this or can I do something to resolve the problem ?
3) Normally the steps to open and close the PC are very fast, in some cases, the PC takes a long time to shut down, and once gave me the same problem at the start, after a long wait I rebooted and it started without problems .. .
Normally, the computer is stable ... Do I have to try the thorough ram test ?
I apologize for being longwinded and thank you in advance for the answers.

The wifi adapter is removable?
In case it is, without losing the guarantee.
If you give me confirmation, I try to see if it is just a matter of contacts.
I need specific instructions!
for now it seems to work properly.
If ask rma, mainboard or complete one module wi-fi?
Wi-Fi, it is normal that it only works if the LAN cable is disconnected ?
Thanks pikka68
No, the adaptor isn't removable. Perhaps I misunderstood, you were saying that when you hook up the Ethernet cable, the mainboard shuts off the wifi. You can check in the bios for an option in regards to this or it could be the OS I am not sure. If they are both working when needed, is there really a problem? -
MSI Z77 MPOWER ATX rebboting over and over.
Hi guys! i really hope u can help me.. i recently bought a new computer and yesterday i built it together. Everything looks fine and seems good. THOUGH!! when iam starting it up it constatly restarts after like 5 seconds? I unplugged the GPU which i putted in PCi-E slot 2 to make more room in the barebone. After i unplugged it seems to boot up normally? Anyone have any suggests? these are the components iam using:
MSI Z77 MPOWER ATX
Intel Core i5 3550 3,3Ghz (Ivy Bridge)
Corsair 16GB (4x4096MB) CL9 1600Mhz VENGEANCE
ASUS GeForce GTX 660 2048MB DirectCUII OC
Fractal Design Newton R2, 800W 80+ Modulär
1TB Seagate/Samsung Barracuda 7200rpm
//TobiasWhat happens when you put the vga in the top PCIE slot?
Are the 6 / 8 pin connectors hooked up to the vga securely?
The 2x 4pin cpu connectors (JPWR)
Do you have another vga to test the pcie slots/ another computer to test the vga?
Inspecting the pins would be a good idea as well as that is a common cause for pcie lane failure.
Also, sometime the default bios for some boards don't work with the 660 vga's try the beta:

Msi z77 Mpower / USB 3.0 / Windows
hey, ive just got a msi z77 mpower motherboard with a i7 3770k and i'm trying to format a samsung 500Gb Sata 2 hard drive using a kingston data traveler 111 16Gb USB 3.0 flash drive with windows 7 x64 on it. If i boot up / run the windows 7 x64 install from the flash drive when its plugged in to the top 2 USB 2.0 ports on the back of the board it runs the windows install fine and formats everything ok but if i plug the flash drive in to the USB 3.0 ports it loads up but when it gets to the part what ask's '' which type of installation do you want '' upgrade or custom. i click on custom and it says
'' A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk,
CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note. If the windows installation media is in the drive, you can safely
remove it for this step ''
I know the copy of windows on the flash drive is fine as it works in the USB 2.0 port and i have got the computer up and running but would like to know what the problem is and how i can fix it
Thanks

MSI z77 MPOWER Poor GPU Benchmarks!! HELP?
I just installed my MSI Z77 MPOWER yesterday.
Specs
Case - NZXT Switch 810 White
Power supply - Corsair TX750m
Motherboard -MSI Z77 MPOWER
CPU - Intel -5 2500k
CPU Cooler - Corsair h80i (Love this thing.)
Memory - Mushkin 16gb Blackline
SSD - 2x 128gb Sandisk Extreme
Storeage - WD Caviar Black 1TB
Graphics Card - GTX670 Galaxy 1062Boost - 6368 Memory Clock
Fans - 4 Corsair sp120's (I Hate them, so im buying noctua)
NZXT 140's
OS 1 Windows 7 Ultimate
OS 2 Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Full Video, Audio, Ethernet Support, Still working on usb3.0 its been giving me a hard time.
Now i love this board. Probably the best motherboard of 2012 hands down. Now my only gripe is im getting poor performance with unigine heaven. I have not tried other benchmarks besides geekbench and thats cpu related. Now my previous mobo was the p67 fatality performance, which was an ok mobo, i had some issues hense the new Mpower. I was gettting 1500-1600 points on heaven with everything maxed out @1920x1080p on the asrock fatality board. I have an effective stable cpu overclock of 4.4ghz and im not going further, i dont need to, my current gpu specs are above. with the msi moard im getting 1100 and thats putting lightly, one time i got 900. Now what do you suppose my issue is? I seen an option in bios settings>PCI subsystem settings> PCI BUS clocks are at 32, Is that the preferred clock for that, or is any of the other options like 248 bus clocks? Im not familiar with this bios setting as i didnt have this in my last board? I need input on this issue.I usually set mine at 64, but unless you have other add-in cards, I don't think that setting makes much difference.

MSI Z77 MPower : Newbie RAID question
Hi,
I have a MSI Z77 MPower motherboard with a i5 3570k Processor. My OS and programs are installed on a 250 Gb SSD and I have a 600 Gb HDD for storage. I've had that last one for a while.
I'm looking to upgrade my storage and set up a NAS in my enclosure. I wanted to buy 2 identical 3 or 4 TB drives and hook them up with a RAID 1 configuration or buy 3 or more 1 to 4 TB drives and try a RAID 5 or 6 configuration. This would replace my 600 Gb HDD and be used for storage only (not OS).
Now I know my motherboard is supposed to be compatible with Raid 0 and 1 but I have a few questions :
1- Is it in fact compatible with raid 0 and 1 ?
2- Do I need a extra raid controller to go for a raid 5 or 6 configuration ?
3- Is the raid setup done in bios or in windows ?
4- Is there a guide on how to proceed I could look into ?
Thanks1: yes!
2: yes for raid 6 and no for raid 5 as raid 6 you need a raid card for that as it takes more processing to accomplish that as its algorithm based! (for raid 5 or 6 you need 3 drives minimum in the array as one is used as redundancy)
3: to set up a raid array you may have to reinstall all your files/Programs as the operating mode changes as you have to make the drive mode RAID in integrated peripherals and then upon booting system you will be prompted to press CTRL+I to enter the intel RAID setup and you will be able to build the array there! (note to use the array you will need to make sure you have the intel raid drivers installed on your computers OS)
4: http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/Z77-MPOWER.html#/?div=Manual <--- thats the manual and it has a section devoted to setting up a raid array and stripe it accordingly!
notes:
raid 0 2xdrives twice as fast as RAID 1 and you would have all the space of 2 drives but but has no redundancy so if a drive fails you have had it all is lost!(needs equip numbers of drives)
raid 1 has full fail safe redundancy but will only be as fast as a single drive as it writes the same data to both! (needs equip numbers of drives)
raid 5 has fast operation and 1 drive fail safe but takes processing to generate the array may have a slight hit on your processor if using one as that will do the calculations(minimum 3 drives as one will be used as a safety)
raid 6 is similar to raid 5 but is slightly less effective in writes but is quicker on reads and retains a fail safe feature but requires more processing by a dedicated card to do it(3 drives minimum) -
MSI Z77 Mpower error code "B2"
Hello,
I had just bought a Z77 MPOWER board to fit with my Core i7 -3770K.
When i try to boot i got the code error "b2" and nothing more...
Many people seems to had got the same problem, so i tried few "solutions".
When i downgrade my GPU card (7970 Radeon) to an old 8800 GTS, i can boot, but Keyboard and DVD and one of my HDDs are not activated (so i can't install MSI drivers from CD) the mouse works.
I had Already install the last BIOS from MSI support, that don't change anything.
I will be glad to get help , i barely going to send back all stuff to seller
and go back to Asus Board...
Thx for the help
Configuration:
Msi Z77 Mpower
Core i7-3770K

1 x 256 SSD OCZ Agility Sata IIthx for your advice always nice to get a good advice
but as i had repair the original PSU i will save few bucks and keep going with it.
i go sleep i pray for new idear about the "B2" problem.
in anyway i will be oblige to contact my seller , i only have 10 days to change the board if i can't solve the problem :(
Good night all. -

vedio card: ASUS GeForce GTX 660Ti 2GB PhysX CUDA
psu:qtek psu 550w
i think its my power suply becuse it only hase the 20-pin power supply for the motherboard and the board needs a 24-pin am i correct?
if u know the problem pliz comment so that i can get it fixedQuote from: trist96an on 17-November-12, 05:02:46
but is that what cosing the problem? cus this other guy on this forum had the same problem and he had a good psu
we troubleshot your PC, not someone else machine.
also we can't claim part failure or to narrow down the issue,
since you don't meet the requirements with PSU.
with regard less if the problem is in the PSU or not, you need better PSU in all cases. -
I have MSI Z77 MPower and i have problem with sound. When i play audio i have feeling that sound automatically volume up and volume down. When i uninstall THX i have feeling that is everything OK but sound is not loud like before.I try on THX turn off smart volume and cristalyzer but problem is still here. Can you help me.
I had the same issue with an early version of THX, have you downloaded the newest version from the website?

Update all of your drivers and re-test. In my case I just un-installed THX until the next version came out and it's fine now. -
Msi z77 mpower. higher than 8gb = reboot loop. help.
Hey guys I'm posting this in hopes that maybe someone could figure out what is causing my new build to reboot loop without post if I added anything higher than 8gb of ram stick. I updated the bios to latest non-beta version, drivers all updated, and made sure that all connectors were correct and properly attached.
Here is my build:
i7 3770k
Corsair H80 liq.cooling
MSI Z77 Mpower Mobo
Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4x4gb) 1600MHz [9-9-9-24]
Asus Geforce GTX 670
Corsair AX850 psu
2 WD Black 1gb HD
Win 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
Everything is at default options since I didn't want to overclock without including the full 4 sticks of ram. Whenever I add a stick into slots 1 or 2 while having a stick in either(or both) slots 3 and/or 4, and attempt to start it up, the mobo's debug shows 55(early memory initialization) and then gets stuck in a reboot loop. It boots up fine if I only add 1 stick in either slot 1 or 2 but if I add either a stick in slot 3 or 4 or add a stick in 2 while having a stick in 1, reboot loop occurs. I've searched everywhere for similar problems and actually did find one on this forums, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162331.0, except that the thread starter's problems were about getting the reboot loop problem after he has overclocked his system and nothing about the number of ram he has added.
fyi: the mobo names ram slots(from left to right) as slots 3, 4, 1, 2 (in case anyone gets confused reading what I have wrote above)
Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.Honestly, it doesn't matter what slots are what number because I cannot add a 3rd stick (more than 8gb) without pc going into reboot loop and or any variations of dual channel setup without pc going into reboot loop.

Sounds like maybe the DRAM V. is being set too low by the BIOS. Raise it to 1.55-1.575v's and see if that resolves it.
using your #1 image, if i try to add stick in dimm1&3 or dimm2&4 it would reboot loop. If I tried 1&4 or dimm2&3 it would reboot loop.
If i tried dimm3&4 it would reboot loop.
BUT if I did dimm1&2 like I have it right now, it would boot up with no problems. I have already tried raising the DRAM V with no luck as well. -
MSI Z77 MPower heat pipe kinks
I found weird kinks like 3 around one of the heat pipes on the MSI Z77 MPower board from NewEgg. Is this normal? Will it affect performance or OC for future use? I think its a defect which I'm quite disappointed. What do you think?
Quote from: Froggy Gremlin on 30-December-12, 17:26:24
My only concern is if you are going to do extreme OC's with setting the MOSFET/VRM's to a higher level in the UEFI/BIOS. This causes a lot of heat and that is always a bad thing. For extreme OC'ing, many remove the stock hardware and use other cooling solutions on the MOSFET/VRM's anyway.
If in doubt, RMA the board with Newegg under the banner of it looks to be damaged. The problem with this kind of thing is it will probably work perfectly fine with no issues during normal use. If they test it and say it was operationally fine, I don't know what happens then.
Yeah, one kink is okay for me, but actually there are 3 kinks in total. So you do own a Mpower board? This board is rock solid but may be a few unlucky units to have some issues. Thanks for your advice thou. -
MSI Z77 MPOWER RAM compatablilty.
Hi,
I am building my first computer and plan on buying the MSI Z77 MPOWER soon, but im not sure if the RAM I have chosen is compatible with the MB as they are not in the compatibility list.
System specs:
case: CoolerMaster Storm Trooper
CPU: i7 3770k (hopefully overclock'd to 4.6ghz)
RAM: 16GB
GPU: 2x Nvidia 480 SLI
HDD: 120GB SSD (to start with)
OS: Windows 7
RAM in question:
Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3
or
Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY16GX3M2A1600C9R 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3
Thank you in advance
mike.Manufacturers cannot test each and every RAM in the market.
Corsair Vengeance RAM has proven to be compatible with just about every MSI board. Their RAM is normally JEDEC standard and you should not have any problems. Either one of those kits should serve you well. -

Hello I just ran my new rig, the problem is, why is my BIOS very sluggish and lag? Even at W7 loading logo and to the desktop and everything is sluggish, even dragging folders across the screen is lagging, i've already reinstalled my OS but the problem persist
I installed all the drivers and utilities and updated my click BIOS II software.
here is my rig

This was my old rig

Seasonic X760 760W
Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm
Corei7-3770k
MSI Z77 Mpower Bigbang
23' 1080p Samsung
if I put the 7870 on the new computer, the index is in variety of range, from 3.2 to 5.9 on windows aero, I inserted the 7770 surprisingly the index value i predicted was 7.6 it also came out like that, so I tried reinserting the 7870, the index improved abit to 6.3
still the problem persist, I don't know what is wrong, I doubt the 7870 is the problem, its running fine on the i7-920
