Boot problem to the power of 10

My computer (original imac 233mhz 160mb ram) always made me type "boot" before it booted up. I really didn't mind doing this. Well I tried to install 10.3 (Gray disk, I know, I know.) Some one told me o put the dvd in my external dvd drive and startup using that. When it restarted I typed "boot" and it showed "can't OPEN (null),\\:tbxi ok" What is the problem, I don't even care about 10.3 any more. Oh, By the way i only have a 9 install disk, I had 10.2.8. I'm fine with using 9 FOR TIME BEING! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need someone Heeeelppp

  • MSI K8t NEO + Audigy Boot Problem only when power is unplugged on the PSU

I ran into a really weird problem today.
I switched the ps off by reaching back and pressing the button. I repress the button to power on the ps, then I click on the button in the fron of the case to power up the machine. System keeps rebooting itself every 1 sec. Bracket shows 4 red lights. In the manual, it says it means bad cpu. I remove the audigy and it boots fine. I install the audigy, 4 red lights.
So, This time instead of turning the puter off by using the button on ps. I used the button on the case by holding it down for 5 seconds. I reboot and puter boots normally.
So the problem is, if i turn the puter off by using the button on the PS and with audigy in the syste. Nothing on screen, and puter keeps rebooting itself every one second. Solution is to turn the puter off by using the button on the case.
Has anyone ran into this problem? I have never had this kind of problem. It is really weird. Any feedback is apreciated.
Oh and it is only with audigy. I tested this with original live, and also other PCI cards like nic, and another cheap sound card. Non of these cards showed this problem.

    Cavemankr!
I never knew you could shut down the computer by holding down the start button for 5 seconds.... well I've never really had the need to...until I got this K8T Neo job. I wondered why it wouldn't turn off when I just pushed it. I've been using the PSU switch with these problems.
Yep! She booted right up. Audigy back in action. I also realized I had my PC hooked straight in the wall (while checking to see if my surge protector was working this weekend), so turning off the surge protector wasn't cutting power to the cheapo PSU.
So put me in your camp!
I'll just plug the PC straight into the UPS and keep power fed to the Enermax. I hope that was the cause of my keyboard/mouse cold boot problem also.
I'll assume the cheapo PSU will behave similarly. I don't really want to go through the swap again.
    I wonder why that happens!

  • [nForce] Help with another booting problem with the MSI K7N2

Ok, I've been reading the threads and tried almost all of the solutions to no avail. Here is the issue...
While adjusting speed in bios, Upon reboot the system would not display video. Steps taken to solve:
*Betwwen all changes I unpluged all power from system
    1. Cleared CMOS VIA Jumper, Turned system on, no change
    2. set J10 Jumper to default then restarted, Still no video.
    3. Checked & reseated memory & CPU. Still nothing.
    4. Removed battery for about 30 seconds (Am going to try to remove it for 30 mins when i get a chance tomorrow) still nothing
At this point i assum the motherboard was bad. I tested botting up with no memory in an attempt to get the warming/error beeps but nothing the system just idles.
Am i missing something?  Any help suggestions or links to solutions would be greatly appretiated.

Sorry, I wasn;t trying to be vague, Was messing with the comp for a couple hours and got fed up. You were right, it was the k7n2. It's not mine it's a friends and wasn't around so i was going by memory. It had been running descent but was never properly installed (software) and was poorly cooled (hardware) so it had overheating restart issues. This is where I come in. I told my friend i would take a look at his computer. It was home built by one of his friends. Te system is fairly basic and the only plug in card used is a agp video card. The computer was working great after i reinstalled the CPU with proper thermal conducting when in BIOS his Athlon 2.6 was set for 1.8 I adjusted it up to the proper setting and he asked if i could bump it further. I attempted but it was unsuccessful and didn't boot. I cleared cmos with the jumper and it booted up again no problem. I stupidly went back in a fiddled around some more with something i shouldn't have because i don't remeber what it was. I belive it was the FSB Speed, but i'm not positive what change cause this particular shutdown. I'm no computer technichian, just a hobbiest. I cleared the Jumper again but this time it dodn't come back and boot. I then looked in the book and found out about jumper 10 (i think) for the SAFE MODE 100mhz boot. I set it as well with no response. I then disconnected the power cable from the PSU and unluged the battery for about half a min or so. cleared teh cmos jumper again, kept the safe mode jumper in safe mode and tried to reboot. It still just hangs. No screen, so Bios check or wrning beeps. It just idles. It revs the hard drive up for about 20sec or so but that is it. I'm going to try the suggestion earlier in the eact oprder giving by osnavi for the reseting cmos. I tried those steps in vvaroius orders 5 or 6 times before giving up.
Any help is appretiated. Thanks for your responses.

  • Is anyone else having problems with the power button?

Someone at work also said they were having a problem with their power button not working? Is it hardware or maybe software?

I had the same problem with my new macbook air. It was scratchy and annoying so I updated the speaker's software and now it's perfect.

hope it solves your problem too.

  • Hey, I'm fixing up a Power Mac G5 for a friend, he gave me a Cinema HD 30' display to use with it. My problem is, the Power Mac G5 doesn't have a place where I can plug in one of the display's cords. the cord is called a "DC power (24.5 V)"

So the Cinema HD's DVI goes in fine, I don't remember what video card is in the computer, all I know is it's Nvideo, it's old, only like 256MB, but does have two DVI ports. Anyway, then the display's firewire and USB can go in. But there's this weird thing, had to do some research to figure out what the connector/cord is called. it's the size of a USB, rectangular with oval sides. It's called a "DC power (24.5 V)" I'm like, what the heck is this thing? it won't go into the computer anywhere, I'm assuming I need some sort of adapter?? Help please, if I need an adapter or video card, links would be extremely helpful.
    Best regards,
    Poly

I don't believe so, I have a DVI to ADC adapter I was messing with, my DVI from the display plugs into the adapter, then i grap the adapter's ADC connector, and it does not go into my Power mac G5's video card. So that confirms that the display is DVI, and works with my DVI video card perfectly. It's just the one wire/connector that apple calls the "DC power (24.5 V)" that won't go in anywhere. Basically the display has a DVI connector, firewire connector, and USB, which all go into my Power mac G5 fine. However, it has another wire with a connector that won't go in anywhere, from what I've read off the teach specs of my Cinema HD 30' that final connector/wire is listed as "DC power (24.5 V)"
So my problem is with that. I have NO idea what it does, or goes into. When I google "DC power (24.5 V) Apple" it comes up with weird images none of which have that connector. So I'm just so. Confused.

  • Has anyone had a problem with the power cord to a Macbook Pro?

I've had three power cords go bad, Apple claims its mis-use, I've been very careful. Anyone else had this problem? How can I gat a free replacement?

I have the same problem with my iPad 1. Have you found a fix?

  • Is anyone having a problem with the power plugs?

My power plugs are getting shorts to where they will not charge up the laptop any longer. I had this laptop 2 years and been through 3 cords already. Sometimes they get really hot too

    what country are you in?
youre blowing capacitors on the charger block board.
Use the included extension cord that came with your Macbook Air to ground your system better.

you should definitely get a decent UPS to protect your investment.
something like the APC Back-UPS ES 700 should suffice.

  • Flex 2-15: A problem with the power button.

    Hi guys.
So Iv'e bought a lenovo computer a month ago.
First I'd like to say that I'm very dissapointed. What computer could possibly destroy itself in a month?,,,
I'll go to the subject anyway.
So you know that when the computer is on so that turn on button has light? So it's basically turning on and off, A 20 - 30 - 5 minutes click didn't help, It has nothing to do with sleep mode. I did try plugging the charger.
So, Thanks in advance for your help.
    Tamir.
*Sorry about my english btw, I'm not from the USA.

Iv'e noticed that it dosen't supposed to be here, Please move it to the right section .

  • The power cord doesn't seem to work properly. It doesn't charge my Iphone 6. Does anyone have this problem?

It looks like there's a problem with the power cord or with the connector. When I plug in the phone it starts to buzz repeatedly that sound that notices the charge is starting, but it doesn't go on. On the screen, also, the battery symbol changes constantly from black to green to black again to green and so on, so I understand it's trying to charge, but it's not working.
Does (or did) anyone have this problem?
    Thank you

So today I went to an official Apple store and did some tests. As you said, the problem was the cord itself. My Iphone it's only two weeks old, so I guess the warranty will carry with a new one. As I need the phone, I decided to buy another cord. In the end, I guess I'll have two cords, which is not such a bad deal.
Thank you all for you kind answers and help.

  • Cold boot problem with X-FI Fata1ty card... Need serious help!

    Hey guys:
I just finished upgrading my computer. Realized that I have a cold boot problem. In order to identify the source of problem. I began the following test.
. Remove everything except, cpu, heatsink, ram, video card. Tried to boot with those devices. => No cold boot problem.
    2. Install the rest of the ram sticks (I have 4 x 52 in total). => No cold boot problem.
    3. Install the other video card (my setup is 7900gtx in SLI) => No cold boot problem.
    4. Install the Creative X-FI Fataty card. => COLD BOOT PROBLEM
Once the computer is shut down via the front power switch on the case, the computer will not boot again. To boot the computer, I need to switch off the main power switch on the back of the psu and switch it back on; then turn on the computer via the front power switch on the case. I tried the problem with and without the sound card. Whenever the sound card is installed. There is the problem. If there is no that sound card in my rig, then there won't be any cold-boot problem.
    My rig specs:
    DFI Lanparty nF4 SLI-DR Venus
AMD Opteron 65 CCBE 609 - Stock speed
    4 x 52 MB G.Skill Samsung TCCD LE 2.85V DDR 400
CPU Cooling - Tuniq tower 20
    2 x EVGA 7900 GTX Stock - SLI
    3 x WD Raptor 74G RAID-0 SATA (-3) 0000 rpm (System)
    x Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 60Gb 7200RPM NCQ SATA - 4 (Backup)
    Pioneer Black DVR 0 DVD+/-RW - IDE /0
    Lian-li PC-V 200B Plus-2 with little case mod
    OCZ GameXstream 600W
Creative Fatalty Sound Card w/ Front Panel
    Logitech Z5500 5. speakers
I need serious help. This problem is so annoying.
Tnanks and will greatly appreciate it.Message Edited by White_Hair on 0-27-200605:4 PM

The onboard sound is disabled. Unfortunately I sold the Seasonic PSU to my friend. The OCZ GameXStream is suppose to be the higher grade psu than Seasonic PSU. Also, the cold boot problem only exists if the sound card is plugged to the motherboard. I tried change different pci slot. It doesn't seem to help the problem. • Boot Problems (Fans Race)

I have a 20" 2007 2.0ghz C2D iMac that's refusing to boot, upon pressing the power button the fans race and nothing else happens. It will shut down if the power button is held for 5 seconds. If booted with no ram it doesn't beep, so it's not getting very far into the boot process.
So far I have confirmed (by testing in another iMac) that these components work:
hard drive - working iMac booted fine from this - s.m.a.r.t status was verified
ram - known to be working
CD drive - span up and read discs fine
    LCD screen - worked fine
power supply - (just the circuit board - no cables) powered up the working iMac
This leads me to believe it's a problem with the logic board, however I tried the logic board from the working iMac (same age but 2.4Ghz) in the broken iMac, and even after a SMU reset it behaved in exactly the same way as before. That said, switching the suspect logic board into the working iMac didn't get much better results - the fans raced and it got stuck on a grey screen.
When booting the broken iMac (with it's own logic board) the first three lights come on the logic board light up, however the fourth doesn't - does this indicate something?
I don't really want to take this to be serviced as it'll cost more than it's worth spending, but does anyone have any ideas on what to try next?

    Did it ever boot normally?
Until today, it had never boot abnormally.
Did you install any new software or memory just
    before this started happening?
I installed some fonts last night... no new software immediately preceding this, however. Norton anti-virus, Microsoft Office, and a nightly WebKit build last week, but I've used it without problems since then.
Have you launched Disk Utility from your install disk
(located in the file menu) and Repaired Disk and
    Repaired Permissions?
Not yet -- I was still in the denial / hopefull thinking phase of repair. Will do that and post back here either way. Thanks.

    Hi,
Can see a big PSU problem here......... you have a great system but really need a Brand PSU in 450W range.
    Antec
    Enermax
