  • Boot prob concerning CD-rom and gfx board

I've just installed the new 43.00 drivers from NVIDIA for my Geforce 4 Ti4600 and now - whenever I boot up my system - it halts and makes some weird "whiiiirrr" noises with the CD-rom drive. If I eject the CD-rom drive and close it again it continues to load up Windows XP. It's as if it's trying to do something with the drive that it cannot do and therefore halts the bootup process until i eject the cd-rom drive...
Anyways, this problem always occur after I update my NVIDIA drivers it seems... The most weird thing is, that it sometimes stops doing it after using the new gfx driver for a while - but the next time I update it does it again and again and again... At times it makes Windows stutter too - because of the "whiiirrr" problem with the CD-rom drive...
Geee, I know this sounds a bit confusing, but I was hoping someone else had the same problem and found a solution for it - or that one of you guys out there knows how to solve it... I'd be forever grateful  :D
    Oh, and here my specs:
Msi 845Pe Max2 (not 100% sure of this - I left the box at me folks house)
    P4 Northwood2 2.4 - 533 fsb
512 mb pc2700 DDR ram (Samsung I believe)
    SB Audigy
    Liteon 24 speed burner
    Aopen DVD Drive 10x
    -Regards
    El Senator

My CD-Rom drive is disabled for booting - the lockup appears when Windows is already loading... So, it must be Windows related and at the same time also related to my gfx driver somehow... It's very frustrating

  • Audigy 2 ZS Boot Prob

    Hi folks,
i've switched my pc on some days ago and it didn't boot at all. After some testing of parts in other systems i've found the problem: the power supply was damaged! I've bought a new one and everything is running fine except my Audigy 2 ZS card ;( As soon as i put the card into a slot the system does nothing when pressing the power button. If i put the card out, everything boots normal. I've tested every little PCI slot i have - nothing. With card = no boot (neither a fan nor anything else seems to work) / without card - clean boot! I can't believe my card is broken. I love it. It must work...
Anyone in here who has a suggestion what to do here? I've already tested the card in another system: same problem, when pressing power, nothing happens ;( i've searched for broken stuff on the card or something else, nothing, looks like brand new...
Please help me! i don't want to buy me a new one - and my Nvidia Onboard sound sucks like hell... Maybe anyone had the same problems ?
    System:
    Asus A7n8X-E with Nvidia NForce2U400
    Athlon 3200 XP+
    2 x 52MB Samsung DDR-400 Ram
    350W Powersupply (new!)
    Thank you very much,
    Regards

It's likely a faulty card if you're getting the same result with two different system.

  • Zen Nano Boot Prob

I think this player has an issue with the size of MP3s. I regularly load and listen to fairly large MP3 podcasts, 50-70 MB per file. Just the other day the player was acting like it had a dead battery, it would shut itself off and then when attemping to boot up again it would say "Creative", then "Zen Nano..", the it would shut off again.
I tried a few new batteries and got the same response. Occasionally it would boot and start playing, but as soon as I changed tracks it would shut off again.
It seems I finally fixed it by deleting one of the large MP3s. Player appears to be back to normal now.
I also noticed that some large MP3s have intermittent problems when trying to skip over them. The player will stop responding for a few seconds. This doesn't happen all the time.
Anyway, maybe you guys should look into your firmware and see if there is anything that can be optimized. There's someone else on this board that complained about the same thing. Thanks.
EDITED to say that the problem is back. The fix only lasted for a few hours. There is definitely something wrong with this player... Please check your firmware for bugs, thanks.Message Edited by mocha on 2-23-2005 05:0 PM

Well I guess no one cares or never had this problem, but I can say that now after I loaded the latest firmware the player is back to normal. I don't understand why the firmware would get corrupted but in any case it works now.

Yeah, not matter what the HDD order is winxp always tries to boot from the single drive when its plugged in.
Not sure if this only happens to me or if other people have had similar issues.
IDE drivers becomes automatically as 1st HDD. you need to switch them.
have you arranged hard disk boot priority? (not main priority)
have a try to push "F8" or "F11" during post to popup menu, and choice correct HDD to boot from there.

  • Help~! muvo2fm boot prob

i bought it at the end of 2004,yesterday when i boot it,the LCD show the message "reminder.wav" and then i cannot do any operation.i cannot play musics.what does this mean?whats wrong what my mp3?Message Edited by bxuan on -4-200605:35 PM

What I'd do is start over with Snow Leopard which will cost you $29 and also get you ready for Lion when it's released. I would also restore from the Time Machine BU using Setup Assistant. I will point you to an article you need to read a bit later. The steps I'd recommend are:
    1. Put the SL upgrade DVD in the SuperDrive and boot from it holding down the Option key.
    2. Choose your language.
    3. Click the Utilities menu and click Disk Utility
    4. Select the internal HD and select the Erase tab
    5. Set Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click Erase. Once done exit Disk Utility and continue with the OS X Install.
    6. Use Setup Assistant to restore from you TM backup.
Please carefully read Setup Assistant tips this will show you how to successfuly migrate from your TM backup.

  • Booting Prob

    hi guys
im having a problem booting my mobo...for the longest time it worked fine now whenever i start it or restart it i have to hit the reset button or it wont boot. dbracket, installed horizontally with the pci cards, gives me a top left / bottom right green, top right bottom left red. any help would be appreciated.

    Hi!
I've set the voltage of my Kingston KHX3200K2 (2x512MB) from 2.6V to 2.65V.
At the moment I don't have booting problems.
How much can I set the voltage for this RAMS? I friend of me said I can set 2.8V with no problems. I will leave it at 2.65 becouse the system is stable at the moment. Only interested if I can go also with 2.7-2.8V
    Thanks,

    Basic Disk Storage
Basic storage uses normal partition tables supported by MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Windows XP. A disk initialized for basic storage is called a basic disk. A basic disk contains basic volumes, such as primary partitions, extended partitions, and logical drives.Additionally, basic volumes include multidisk volumes that are created by using Windows NT 4.0 or earlier, such as volume sets, stripe sets, mirror sets, and stripe sets with parity. Windows XP does not support these multidisk basic volumes. Any volume sets, stripe sets, mirror sets, or stripe sets with parity must be backed up and deleted or converted to dynamic disks before you install Windows XP Professional.
    Dynamic Disk Storage
Dynamic storage is supported in Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional. A disk initialized for dynamic storage is called a dynamic disk. A dynamic disk contains dynamic volumes, such as simple volumes, spanned volumes, striped volumes, mirrored volumes, and RAID-5 volumes.   I think this means I cannot Stripe a HD for raid without it being a Dynamic Disk....
Danny I try to read all the links that you point out and find them very Interesting..

You first need to make sure you have the promise controller drivers installed for it to recognize the hard drive. The system should have came with a floppy disk with the drivers on it........Make sure your boot order is floppy drive/cdrom drive/sata/scsi........boot to the XP cd after you have the sata controllers installed......then run the XP disk setup partion/format/install.........after installation you can set boot order as sata/scsi as first boot device.

  • No boot--prob with mobo?

Hi.  Am trying to put together a new system (third I've built) and have run into problems with even getting system to boot.  At first was getting power led flash, so upgraded psu (as per advice others got on this site).  System then booted fine once with minimal stuff attached to psu (cpu, mobo, memory, 1hd, fans, GeForce2).  I powered down and then attached dvd-rom, cd burner, and floppy in prep to install WinXP.  Now no boot at all.  No power led, no fans spin, nothing.  I hit power and it just sits there.  I detached dvd/cd/floppy again--nothing.  Tried psu in another computer--works fine.  Would this be a problem with the mobo?
    Thanks!

read check list in unoffivcial guide at the top
    mabey you unplugged somthing
first is power outlet on a switch, if so is it on.
double check that psu is plugged in allthe way on outside, does it have a switch
on the back of the psu, is that on.
double check the front case wires, power button leads
is the motherboard on the brass risers, not touching case
is the 20 pin power plugged in, how about the 4 pin square plug.
    try one mem card, ..
and try to reset cmos jumper, just make sure power is off......
i am assuming the new psu has more then 18a at 12v
(i wont deal with psu questions right now until the current one is resolved.
you will know when you see it.)

  • MSI 745 Ultra boot probs.

I am having problems with my new MSI 745 Ultra. It finishes post, but fails to load Win XP. It gives me 5 options: boot into safe mode, safe mode with network connections, safe mode with command prompt, last know good config, continue loading windows. Whichever option i choose, it restarts before it has finished loading windows. With the last 2options, it restarts just as it starts to display the XP scan disk screen.
I have even updated the bios, but it still has the same outcome. I am at a loss here, could somebody please help, otherwise it looks like this board is goin back and i'm guna have to look for another.
    A bit about my hardware:
    AMD Athlon Tbird 1Ghz
    MSI 745 Ultra
    256Mb Pc2700 Ram by Crucial
    Geforce 2MX 32Mb AGP 4x
    Samsung 30Gb Hdisk
    LG CD-Rw & DVD Drives
    Somebody please help.
Edit: Sorry for the multi-posts, my comp didnt display the post page, and i had to refresh the page.

    Hi, me again.
I reinstalled XP, then booted with the new mb in, and it gave me an error screen saying that Quote
A problem had been detected and Windows had been shut down to prevent damage.
    It then said i should:
    Check for viruses
Remove any new hard-disks and hard-disk controllers
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hdisk corruption.
Under technical information, it displayed the following codes:
    Quote
    ***Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF9E4D640, 0x00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I have ran Scan disk, and had no success, and i am in the process of running a Virus scan.
Does anybody have any ideas as what to do here?

  • KT3 and Video Card Boot Probs

OK So I build my KT3 System with an Athalon XP 1800. First boot the thing comes up fine, Power down, Second boot, RAM beep error, 3 long beeps (RAM bad or missing)  Since I had just bought the system I got the RAM replaced, yet the problem persists.  I finally narrowed it down to this: when I first boot the system with the video card plugged in it boots fine, even a soft boot is fine, goes all the way to Windows, however if I cold boot it I get the RAM beep errors.  Here's the weird thing, if I disconnect the Video card from the MoBo and reseat it then boot again the system boots fine until the next cold boot. ?(  ?(  ?(  ?(
ANY help would be appreciated.  I tried both a TNT2 Ultra (Xentor32) and an nVidia Geforce 256.  I have yet to try my GeForce 2 MX but I am afraid I will have the same result.
I've tried disabling the quick boot feature, the ACPI, and also made the FSB changes, but I don't know why I am getting bad RAM beep code if the Video card is the culprit.  Help me out please

    i had the same issue with a kt3 mobo and a gf3 ti 200 and athlon 1800.
i changed psu and vid card and ram plus made sure the sb live wasnt in pci slots 1 or 5 and after that in desperation ichanged mobos, same issue dont know why tried every fix i could find what i had to do was cold boot let it hang then switch it off on the back and then reboot it would then boot never did fix the issue and the store that sold me the parts tried every combination to fix it just incase id screwed up after 3 days they changed the mobo to a gigabyte and it works dont ask me why i bought this mobo because several friends  use it and have never had any issues.
    BTW i tried a gf2 mx a tnt a gf3 ti200 a gf4 mx and lastly a gf4 ti 4200
    three brands of ram
a 200 watt codegon POS psu a generic 350 a antec 400 or so and finaly a topower 350 nothing seemed to help

  • Audigy 2 ZS System Boot Prob

Starting a few days ago, on every reboot my WinXP Pro system with an Audigy 2 ZS sound card, crashes with a "irql_not_less_or_equal" message and the BSOD. If I go into safe mode and disable the sound card, the system starts without crashing but obviously with no sound. After it has started with no sound, I can re-enable the sound card and continue using the system, with sound, until the next time I boot when the whole thing happens again. I have upgraded to the latest driver but the problem is still the same. Can anyone assist? Thanks?.

I had problems with the latest updated drivers for my audigy 4, seems they are a bit buggyuninstall and do a clean boot, then re-install using orignal drivers on disc and dont update. find out how to do a clean boot on link below:?http://ask.europe.creative.com/SRVS/...ve.com,case=72
