Boot screen question

Does any one know what the following message is that I get in the boot screen during boot up
"Warning: having option rom can not be revoke (vendor id:10deh, device id:00dfh) I have this message after installing XP64 bit. Willie

Quote from: Okay on 12-January-06, 06:12:32
Is'nt this the message appering with some beta bioses?
It's a fault in all 1.9 , 1.A ,1.B bioses , offilcal and beta , fixed in 1.C3 .
xp64 has nothing to to with it .
Disabling nvidia lan and/not using an addon pci ide/sata card make the "message" go away , but the error is still there
in those bios revisions.
To have the invoke boot option rom solved use all bioses upto 1.8 or 1.C3 .

  • Can't rid boot screen of Windows HD

New rMBP.  Attempted Win 8.1 Bootcamp Install.  Too many issues preventing it.  Decided to do at a later date.  Removed partition via Bootcamp.
BUT,  I still have 3 drives in the bootable screen when pressing option during boot.  1) Mac HD 2) Recovery HD and 3) Windows HD.   Looked at Disk Utility, looks good there - No Windows partition.  No Windows HD.
So how do I get rid of the "Ghost" Windows HD in the boot screen?
    Thanks - DR
Sorry to sound so robotic in my question.  Just the facts, ma'am.

    Turbostar,
I sure would like to avoid the clean install.
This is all I am seeing as drives go.  Which looks good to me.

  • How do I rename windows in the startup screen (boot screen)

    Hi
I have just replaced my HDD for a larger one and put the old one in the SuperDrive DVD bay (had a smaller one there before also)
I Cloned both the Mac side and the windows side using CCC and winclone an both seems to be cloned fine , however I do not want to erase(format) the old drive for a few weeks until 100% sure everything is working fine .
So my Question . As I have 2 HDD installed when I hit options at startup the boot screen appears with 2 Mac Partitions and 2 windows partitions ,
The Mac ones I just renamed on the mac side, ( 1TB mac and 500GB mac) and on boot screen those names show up .
    but
The 2 windows bootcamp drives/partitions just are written WINDOWS , so I have no idea which is old one and which is new larger one , I have tried renaming in the same way , on my mac I have them show up on desktop and called Bootcamp 1 and Bootcamp NEW , but on the boot screen just called WINDOWS .
How can I rename one of these so both are not just named windows and have it show up on the boot/option screen ?
    Thanks mark

    Hello ACETech,
I see that you are having a start up problem with your HP computer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help with this issue.
Let me know what happened when you tried with the single stick of memory?
Here is a link with some additional steps. I know you have already tried another monitor so you can skip those steps.
Let me know if this is helpful or if you are still having the same problem.

  • Bitlocker: Is it possible to change the pre-boot screen?

    Hi,
Very simple question but I cannot seem to find any information, is it possible to customise the Bitlocker pre-boot screen so I can have my own company logo on it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
For this issue, i think we cannot do this since bitlocker tool will add to BIOS before system start, so we we protect the data on volumes include non-system volume, here is the detailed information:

    hi saddamali111,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you proceed with the following Steps.
Remove the AC adapter and the battery then hold Down the power button for 10sec.
Reconnect the AC and the battery, and turn on the system together with tapping the F2 key.
You should arrive in a BIOS setup page, Hit F9 to load default then press Enter, Now hit F10 to Save and Exit then enter again to confirm.
See if the issue will be same.
If it does, Try hitting F8 When you Power on the system See if it will give you option to load safemode.
also Check if the system will still restart when you turn it on using the NOVO button.
    Let me know your findings,
Please share your OS type and version

  • AUDIGY 2 zs comp freezes at end of boot screen H

I built this computer p23g motherboard, pentD 3.0. So I loaded my counterfit XP PRO and my video card didnt work. Radeon 9250 DVI/VGA. The audigy was in the machine and booted fine but I didnt hook speakers to it yet,as I needed this video card to work.Long story short I had to Buy XP PRO sp2. First thing the video card worked great but putting the Audigy2zs makes the computer freezeat the end of the boot screen. However I did get it to work by slipping the card in just after bootup but before windows loads (scary I know). Go to device manager and scan for hardware changes and it detects the audigy and can install software. Problem is I cant turn off my computer ever again, except to repeat the procces. on boared audio is off in bios. Did all sp2 and board and creative updates but it just seems its not being reconized as a pci card or something. I've contacted cust support at pc chips and they are no help. They act like there botherd to answer questions about products, Microsoft cant explain it and I havn't seen any forums that cover this. Can anyone help? .. OK. I contacted PC Chips because an bios update didnt work, They say its not the bios? and they thought one thing could be the power supply. So I disconnected my extra hard dri've and cd roms and the same result. At least the person I got this time wasn't in a hurry to get off the phone. I have tried the Audigy in my other computer and it works. My machine (new one) booted up with the card in, as sometimes it will do,scan hardware for changes and it see's it. I am using the card right now and it works great,so I dont think its the card. I just cant reboot or on the bootup screen stops at NVRAM UPDATE : OK...... pc chips doesn't seem to be any help. I tested all pci slots and they work so they think its not their problem. If the card works (plays music in all channels) I dont understand why it freezes on bootup. Can the card be bad in any way if it is able to function like it is? Can it be bad and work in one computer and not another?Mike P.S. I also tried the msconfig, booting up with minimal startup items and its the same.Message Edited by custsupsucks on 04-8-20072:50 PM

  • How do I change the password on the safe boot screen?

My computer was freezing so I shut it down.  When I rebooted, the Safe Boot screen automatically came up and is assking for a password.  I used my password but it is not letting me in.  Can I reboot the password without access to the computer?  I can't use the reinstall drive as I cannot get in.  Thanks!

    http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/vzw_mifi_4620_jetpack/4620_manual.pdf
There are two passwords: the Admin Password (page 25) and the Wi-Fi Password (page 28). Most always when a user asks this question it is the Wi-Fi Password they are talking about. The Admin Password is fairly easy to change, the Wi-Fi Password not so much. You have to navigate to the Web User Interface at http://192.168.1.1 and login using the Admin Password. Then navigate to the Wi-Fi tab > Wifi Profile > Wi-Fi Password.
If you’re changing the Wi-Fi Password, change the Network Name (SSID) as well. This will cause a new wireless network to appear. As soon as you change these in the Jetpack and hit Save you lose network connectivity with the Jetpack—be sure you’re ready it! Otherwise you might have to RESET the Jetpack to regain control of it. After you change the Wi-Fi Password in the Jetpack and give it time to reboot, connect to your new wireless network (SSID), and input the new Wi-Fi Password when prompted. You’ll find using Windows COPY (Ctrl C) and PASTE (Ctrl V) makes it easier to input a new password. After you get one computer or phone working on the new network, get the other devices working.
If you have a wireless printer it is best to change the SSID and Wi-Fi Password in the wireless printer before you change it in the Jetpack, because you will not be able to access a wireless printer that uses your old network credentials after you change the SSID and Wi-Fi Password in the Jetpack. You can always reinstall the printer’s software to get it working again.
You can get a randomly generated high entropy password from here. Your Jetpack does not support 64 character Wi-Fi Passwords, so look at 63 characters. You don’t need 63 characters, these can be truncated to 30 characters to approach maximum entropy and even hold up for over 1,000 years on 1,000 computers at 20 characters–the important thing is the randomness of the password.

  • HP w1907 : Powering-up gets stuck at blue "HP invent" Boot Screen

    Hello all,
I've HP w1907 desktop... I am using it since 2008.
Last month I've format it to have new windows 7 Ultimate in it... Previously also I was using win7 Ultimate.
But it was keep restarting after the use of 4-5 minutes and so I've installed the OS all over again.
It was working fine... after 3-4 weeks, when I started it, it gets stuck at blue "HP invent" Boot Screen.
This screen has the instructions for entering the "Boot Menu", "Setup", and "System Recovery" by pressing the "Esc", "F10", aor "F11" key.  It just sits there forever.
If I try to enter the "Boot Menu"by pressing the "Esc" key, I get a message "Loading Boot Menu.....", but then it just hangs there forever.  If I try to enter the  "Setup Menu" I get a similar result - it says "Entering Setup...", and just hangs there.  Pressing the "F11" key doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
By searching forums I've tried resetting the BIOS - which I've got from here :
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Powering-up-gets-stuck-at-blue-quot-HP-in...

After doing this also, the result is zero
    Please help me...
    I am in hurry...
    Thank you.

    Hello Sir,
    You was right...
    The CMOS Battery was discharged!
I've replaced it ... and the date and time problem has been solved...
And you was right again by saying that it should not cause the problem while start up...
So the second problem (Major Problem) was CD Writer !!!
(I've changed the location of the PC last 3-4 weeks ago!!)
may be the it has grabbed the hardware of CD Writer..
And as the hardware of CD Writer was not working as per the expectation the BIOS may have got stuck...
And so it was unable to enter in Boot or Setup menu !!
I've removed the data and supply cord of CD Writer... PC is working good now...
I am thankful to you sir.. for your thourough help..
Without you it may not happened
Now I am going to repair the CD Writer by opening it tomorrow..
Any help from you will be great help to me and its really appriciable..
    God Bless You...
    Thanks for your valuable time.

  • IdeaPad S400 Loops at PXE Boot Screen

Hi, I am wondering if someone may have experienced and issue where there IdeaPad gets stuck at the PXE Boot screen, then reboots. I am able to see the lenovo sign for about 1 second then it goes straight to the PXE Boot screen the restarts. I have tried taking out the Battery and holding down the power 3 times for 10 Seconds and 30 Seconds on the 4th, but that didn't help. I am unable to get to the BIOS or to the Recovery. I even took the hard drive and and tried to see if it would fail at detecting the drive, but it seems to be stuck at just that screen.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi LenovoYute,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
You're system is booting to the LAN connection (PXE boot), this is possible that the Harddrive cannot be seen by the system that's why your system skipped the Harddrive boot and started looking for windows over the LAN connection or possible that the boot order was changed that's why your system is looking for Windows over the LAN connection first.
Your having the similar concern on this thread, Please follow the said steps there as it troubleshoots your Harddrive.

  • After restoring imac from time capsule stuck at apple booting screen

    Hello,
I had an IMAC with hard drive that crashed. I installed a new internal HD.
Restored from time capsule. After 10 hours of restoring, it restarted.
Now it has been stuck at the Apple boot screen with the spinning wheel now for 3 hours.
Does it take that long? Anything wrong maybe.
    Thanks for all your help.

    Hello Brenden,
Thanks for the link. I have already tried everything in that kink but still getting the same issue.
One clarification if you can help me.
When I replaced my HD, I booted up using Mountain Lion CD.
I went to Disk Utility I paritioned the new drive.
I then went to System Restore and tried to restore from my time capsule a backup from Yosemite, Maverick and Snow Leopard
When imac restarted  i was getting messages that it cannot boot up..Same message over and over.
Therefore, I once again went in and booted up using Mountain Lion CD,
Went to Disk Utility and erased all contents of the whole drive. Clean.
This time I went ahead and ran the Mountain Lion Installer.
Imac restarted and booted fine to Mountain lion.
Did all updates and so forth.
Now went to Utilities folder and selected Migration Assistant and chose to restore once more.
Restored finished, and this time I am getting the issue I originally reported.
My question is, since I am running Mountain Lion, if the backup was made using Yosemite, just before my IMAC crashed,
is this the problem why it is stuck at Boot. Because i need to be running Snow Leopard at leat to upgrade to Yosemite.
However, how come none of my backup s can be restored , just by going straight to restore backup instead of installing some mac os x first.
    Thanks,

when i start my pc the boot screen will appear on the monitor but after that it go's black. i can hit one of the f keys to take me to the boot page or diagnostics page but when i change the boot path and hit save then enter it just go's back to the black screen i have also hit the f9 key to go to the diagnostics page and ran the on board hp diagnostics tool which says everything has passed when i try to go back the screen go's black again! at first i thought it was a  graphics card issue so i replaced the old one with a new one same thing, i also tried plugging into the three different slots on the graphics card i started with the dvi slot with an adapter on my cable it will not even show the boot page it just go's strait to no signal so i switched to the VGA slot that's were i can get to the boot screen, last i tried the hdmi port and again i can get to the boot screen but then it go's black i removed the ram and cleaned it, and was going to try and go strait from the mother board to the monitor but i got scared when i saw the black cap with the words DO NOT REMOVE on it! i have tried 2 different monitors just to eliminate that  probability but now I'm just lost any ideas would be appreciated!

  • Mid 2012 MacBook Air Yosemite Slow Booting and Old Boot Screen

    Hello Guys,
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air 13" and I had installed public beta of Yosemite on it. Now I am running OS X 10.10 (14A388b) and I have problems on the boot. On all the other macs, I saw that the booting screen is black background and a white Apple logo on it. But on my mac, the booting screen is same as Mavericks and for the first 5-6 seconds, the Apple logo doesn't show up. And the mac is booting very slowly. Also, Continuity and Handoff are not working properly. What might be the problem?

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro diagonal lines on boot screen

My Macbook Pro has developed this strage issue. The boot screen has distorted diagonal lines all over it, and it will hang on this boot screen.
Sometimes I can get it to boot by starting in safe mode (it will still give me the distorted diagonal lines) it will then go through it's process and then go to sleep (only if the power cable is not attached). Then I will hold down the power button to turn it off, and then turn it on again, at which point it boots up normally. That said, this doesn't work every time, and is a 30min process with each attempt.
Has anyone else ever seen this issue before?
    MBP-2010, i5-2.53, Lion

Unfortunately this is becoming an ongoing known problem:
    http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/05/13/apple-remains-mum-as-complaints-mount- over-2011-macbook-pro-gpu-failures
If it's a reball problem I might have a solution but I just sent in a MBA with a Southbridge chip problem. The guy's rebelling it so we'll see how that works out.
Shades of the iBook GPU reball problem!
