when I compile my program, i am getting a mesage
"boot-strap {0}. make sure {1} is public.", Why is it saying like that
I do, its a singlton class, and it has a public main too. It is big project. does it anything do w/ the package?

Even if you have never installed nor pulled a HD from a Powermac...... trust me....it is not all that difficult.
I can actually switch internal HD's among 3 separate G4 Towers I own in a matter of minutes (often less than 10 minutes).
Simply power the system down and ground yourself (a grounding strap is recommended or at the very least touching the metal frame to discharge any potential static electricity prior to actually touching the HD or any internal components on your system).
Disconnect the power cable to the back of the HD, then the long ide connector on the back of the HD / cable (pull straight back while grasping the black connector with 2 fingers ... do not yank the actual ribbon cable).
All of my HD's are mounted or bolted to their own metal sleds (either single sled or a dual sled) with 4 screws.
Unscrew the small screw (philips) holding the sled in place on position one below the ide connector or cable. And gently remove the sled & HD from the Powermac without bumping / damaging other internal components.
Remove the 4 screws from the sled itself holding the HD in place. Be careful not to allow the drive to fall once all screws have been removed.
Install the new HD (and make sure to address proper jumpers on the back of the HD itself.)
Now reverse this process with new HD for proper installation into the G4 Powermac.
Any questions just post back.

iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

How do I make sure that my second-hand iPod is not a stolen product?
My husband recently recieved an iPod shuffle from a friend of his. His friend told him he could have it since the friend didn't have a computer to download songs from or charge the iPod with. He states that he thought the iPod already had songs pre-recorded on it, and even if he used someone else's computer to get the songs, it's too much trouble. My husband had lent him some money to pay a utility bill and he was using this iPod that he just happened to have laying around to pay my husband back. I don't trust my husband's friend. How can I make sure that he isn't trying to push a stolen iPod off onto my husband? We haven't used it yet. My husband doesn't have much use for the shuffle, but I would love it, if only I could find out whether it was stolen or not. I don't want to take it to the police and start a big fight or get his friend in trouble, but if it is stolen I want to know so I can send it back to Apple or who ever owns it.

You sound like a very honest and sensible person, who is taking very reasonable precautions against becoming a second victim of theft. Others on these forums have been less cautious and have lost their recent purchases.
My suggestion would be to make sure the person offering the iPod shuffle is easily identifyable. Make sure he/she has a real address and you know what it is. Get a picture of the person and make sure they know you have it. If they are not above board I'm fairly sure they won't allow this.
There are a number of online databases of stolen merchandise. Look them up and check the serial number of the iPod against these databases.
Apple will not tell you if the item is stolen. Their phone agents that work with the public do not have that kind of information.
Note that doing all this will not guarantee you don't get a stolen iPod. Only purchasing one new (or refurbished) from Apple or an authorized reseller can do that. It does, however, give you a better chance.

How do I make sure my Logic Studio is legally registered to me?
My partner and I are professional Musicians and I purchased my Logic Studio from a legit store online and have registered ity accordingly with Apple over the phone, so that I know its registered to me. My partner purchased his Logic Studio from someone on Craigslist, and I told him how important it is that he make sure to register his Logic in his name with the proper support at Apple. But when he called them to register it, they told hime he needed to register it online or pay for customer service in order to register it with them. Firstly, does that sound right? Why wouldn't Apple just register it to him while they had him on the phone, wanting to do that? I don't really see how registering a product to your name is the same as paying for technical support...? Secondly, we can't find anywhere online to register it? Where on earth do you go to register logic online?
Anyone with some answers that could help with these questions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be sure our butts are covered when we put stuff out in public domain, that its all made on software that is legally licensed to us. There were some horror stories in Music Business class in college, and neither of us want to be "THAT GUY", if you know what I mean...?
Anyway, can anyone help shed some light on these issues for me please?

Sublimaze69Apple does not require registration of software online. It's sufficient to enter the serial number at first run. This assumes the seller provided the original purchase information including the box with the serial number.

im on firefox 4 ,recently ,i tried new addon for firefox 4 called start up faster, i removed it, just as comparison to see boot up times , and then when i tried to install again i get the message create service failed, the icon stays on my desktop, want to check this addon is still performing its role, or could i fix something to make sure its properly on my addon list, thank you,

My daughter forgot her passcode. Her iPod Touch 4gen is disabled. I've tried everything I've read online. I get to the "Restore" part on iTunes and then I get the message, "The iPod Software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network connections are correct and your network connection is active or try again later." How can this be so hard to do? Why isn't there a simpler solution. I live 2 hours from the nearest Apple store. Any advice you may offer would be very much appreciated.

Hi there, i have an issue installing oracle forms and reports. its throwing this error"INST-07408: Unable to install or configure the product on a 32-bit JVM on a 64-bit machine. MacBook Pro 15" 2007 is dead. How to make sure it's the left I/O board?
My 15" 2007 MacBook Pro is now completely dead. No light on the 85W magsafe (which does work on unibody MBP 15), battery completely empty, no sign of life whatsoever. Apple Store says I need a new "logic board" but could not specify which one, main or left I/O. How can I make sure it is the left I/O board?
The computers' power circuits have been steadily declining in recent months. It has a checkered history - it's the one that ran hot, had kernel panics due to graphics card drivers, and had the graphics card hardware issue. The computer died in October 2008 and "the logic board" was replaced under Apple Care, free of charge. When AppleCare ran out I bought a unibody MPB and my son inhereted the 2007 model, using it for his music and being pretty happy with it, until the battery would not charge anymore. He then ran it on the power supply only, until it would not boot up. Apple Store did some magic with it (probably reset SMC), it ran for a while longer without charging battery, then did the same thing (not booting, but magsafe connector showing green LED). Searching on the web I found some hints as to how to reset SMC and this worked - once. Took the computer off the magsafe when going on a holiday, when I came back it had deceased.
Apple Store quoted $ 540 for a logic board replacement. The left I/O board is available online for $ 119 and I am able to mount it myself, would do so if I could make sure that this unit has failed and not the main board. And that, friends, is my question.Let the Apple folks - or an AASP - run diagnostics on the machine. They'll be able to tell if you need a new logic board or not. Get an estimate - if it seems outrageous then it's probably time to buy a new computer.

A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.

How to make sure 2 Variables of same class do not share internal variables?
K, I am having trouble making a new instance of an object.
I have a class call File_Class that have a public static attribute call File_Name.
Now in another class, I have a linkedlist and each one of the element is supposely a File_Class object. The problem that I am having now is that whenever I create a new File_Class (File_Class New_Class = new File_Class (File_Name)), i am actually getting a reference to the old one so that anything that I change reflects on every element of my link list.
My question now is
1. how exactly do i enforce that a new instance of the object (File_Class) is created so i can make sure every element in my linked list is distinct.
2. why is this happening at all

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

I want to make an array of 52 cards - then draw 21, but I want to make sure not to have any duplicates....
Is there some easy way with ArrayLists or Linked lists to accomplish this?
I am going to make a second array of random cards and thought of somehow making a variable or logic that reports that the card is taken, but I cant help but think there is a way to shrink the array as I take the card out or something like that.
