Boot stuck at waiting for dev-mapper

When I boot, my system gets stuck at:
A start job is running for dev-mapper-tank1.device (33min 36s / no limit)
Does anyone know how to abort the process so I can finish booting my system and disable the job? I tried adding systemd.unit=rescue.target to my kernel flags but the job seems to start before I get a shell.
Thanks!

  • IPhone 4  OS 6 - Facetime is stuck on Waiting for activation.....

    Hello,
I recently got myself a new iPhone and I have been unable to get my Facetime to boot up.  It has been stuck on "Waiting for activation..." for over a week and I am unsure how to proceed to get it to start to work again.
If anyone can help me that would be great.

I just activated a new iphone 4s and restored from a backup of my former iphone 3gs - had the same problem - Waiting for Activation on both facetime and imessage. I tried all the usual fixes, reset all, hard reset, turn facetime/imessage on and off, and on and on. 2 hours on phone with tech support to no avail.
I just found the fix on my own - no clue if it will work for everyone. But it's ridiculously easy and worth a shot so you don't waste hours and hours resetting/synching as I did.
All I did was go into settings>phone>my number - erase it by touching the ">". Then re-enter it making sure to input with the "+" and country code. For example in the US: +1(508) 569-9901
No hard reset necessary. I went into settings>facetime and imessage, immediately after inputting my phone number again and the dreaded "waiting for activation" message was gone. I tested sending a message - came thru to the other party fine and facetiming another device (my mom's ipad some distance away) and it rang thru with everything working properly i.e., video/audio.

  • Error: Waiting for /dev/sda1 for 10 seconds...

    Hi,
I upgraded this morning to the following:
    - mkinitcpio 0.13.0-1
    - linux-lts 3.0.67-1
Now the server won't reboot, it always says "Waiting for /dev/sda1 for 10 seconds..." in the initramfs shell.
Indeed there is no /dev/sd* in /dev, or even /dev/disk-by* to try and boot using the UUID.
Since it's a remote server, it's hard to debug. Hopefully no critical service is running on it.
The default linux 3.7.9-2 gives the same error.
I managed to get it back on line using the fallback initrd: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … onger_boot
I also tried to reinstall udev,linux-lts, systemd and mkinitcpio as advised but the /dev/sda1 error was still there.
    My mkinitcpio.conf:
    MODULES=""
    BINARIES=""
    FILES=""
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems keyboard fsck"
    # no compression
Nothing fancy, no RAID, no LVM, not even /boot on a separate partition:
    - /dev/sda1 on /
    - /dev/sda2 on /home
    - /dev/sda3 as swap
For the rest, the system is up to date, no dandling *.pacnew, I never forced any package installation.
I didn't find a similar problem here or using Google.
The topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=158300 is not the same problem and it didn't help me.
    I have two simple questions:
    - what happened?
    - how can I know it will be safe again to reboot using the regular initrd image?
    Thanks for any clue.

Up, I see an update to linux-lts-3.0.68-1.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes stuck on "Waiting for changes to be applied"

Here are the symptoms I'm seeing:
    - If I restore my phone, or delete/reinstall iTunes, or uncheck "Sync Music", wait for a sync to complete, recheck "Sync Music", ONE sync attempt will complete. I try adding one additional song and re-syncing the device, it gets stuck.
    - If a sync doesn't complete, it gets stuck on "Waiting for items to copy" or "Waiting for changes to be applied". Via fs_usage, it seems like nothing is happening during this phase. I've left it for two hours and it doesn't move on from this phase unless you manually cancel the sync.
    - It's manifested itself on two different phones - an iPhone 4S and a iPhone 6.
    - Each phone has enough space for the items I'm syncing
    - Sometimes iTunes or gets confused and moves the entire music library on my phone into "Other". Recently I had 42GB of "Other" on a 55GB device. See attached screenshot: http://monosnap.com/file/AaDzqWpgtNXtfTYdy8iscfTKrkZGWC
    - The problem has persisted across multiple versions of iTunes (at least versions 11 and 12)
Here are the things I've tried to solve the problem:
    - Restore the device - as mentioned, works one time, further syncs fail
    - Turn my laptop off and on
    - Turn my phone off and on
    - Replace "iTunes Library.xml" by moving it to the Desktop and rebuilding the file (really fun as I lost all playlists, import date info and most played information by doing this)
    - uncheck Sync Music and recheck it - as mentioned above, this works one time, this method is also error prone (takes 3 or 4 canceled syncs before it decides to actually transfer the songs)
    - signed out of Apple Store
    - repair disk permissions
    - repair disk
    - trace iTunes process with fs_usage, will try dtruss next
    - remove the SyncServices/Local directory - didn't do anything
    - remove iTunes and every trace of it I could find (com.apple.itunes and related plist files) and reinstall from the Internet - I got one good sync after this and then it got stuck again.
I would appreciate your help as I'm at wit's end here. If there are any debugging logs or further information I can post, please tell me - I'm a software engineer by trade and have a fairly good idea of how to operate a machine (though not really how to debug a closed-source binary, maybe I should learn how).
    Thanks,
    Kevin

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

  • Bought a Brand New iPod touch, my entire music library WILL NOT SYNC (stuck on waiting for changes)

I just bought a new ipod touch, and I'm really struggling to not throw this thing against the wall.
My music won't sync. Its stuck on "Waiting for Changes to be applied"
Im not trying to sync anything else, no video, pictures, apps, anything. Just music. My old iPod touch syncs just fine. I can't restore it, because the restore takes it back to when I was setting the ipod up. I factory reset my ipod many times. I've tried manually syncing songs individually but it hangs on the same spot.
My mac is up to date, my ipod is up to date, my itunes is up to date. What the **** can I do?

I have been able to get SOME songs on by doing artist one by one. I also took off all album art. I have only 10 songs or so that I have bought so this is all my own stuff. I just bought a refurbished ipod touch from the apple store. It seems weird to me that it is not all ipods, just some and with the searching I have done, it was mainly Sept to Nov of last year there was issues.... I feel like returning my ipod and hoping I get one with no issues.

  • Ipod touch 3rd generation is stuck in "waiting for changes to apply" during sync

My iPod touch 3rd generation is stuck at "waiting for changes to apply" during sync.  I have the latest update and the latest version of iTunes downloaded.  Any suggestions for a remedy to this problem?  Thanks!

I went into my desktop PC the to Start/My music/iTunes folder.
In my folder there was nothing called ITunes Library.itl., but I had file called iTunes Library, in the center of it labeled "Lib", so I re-named it to "iTunes Library.itl.backup" Then went to the folder from iTunes" Previous iTunes
Library" and copied and pasted mine was iTunes Library 2011-04-02 right into the iTunes main folder.
Close your iTunes folder and then install the previous ver. 10.3 of the Apple link. I did not reboot PC. Did not use Cc cleaner nor add/Remove. then after 10.3 said finished installing 10.3 I clicked on my iTune Icon and iTune came up, iPod not plugged in yet.
Then I clicked on "let iTune to find all my music and install them", said towards bottom of iTunes.
Why we don't have the answer but iTune will put all your music in but you will have duplicates of the songs, so you will have your work cut out for you, takes time. plus some of my Artwork was missing, but I save that too.
I'm not Responsible for this instructions, this is what worked for me.
I think everything here is in order. Lot of my information came from all of you guys.Thank you. took a lot of reading, and trial and errors 2 1/2 day latter.

    HI,
i upgraded my iPhone 5 to I.o.s 7 last night and I was sending texts from an email address which I didn't want. Now I've taken off my email address yet my iMessage has been stuck on 'wAiting for activation'?
EEven whe I was texting via my Apple ID, it was showing this message?
    CAn anyone help?

Hello, I can understand how frustrating this is.
I spoke to Apple just now, and they're aware. There's no solution, except to wait it out. Because of the 5s launch and iOS 7, Apple's servers are supposedly being hammered. A more senior Apple rep thought there will be delay up to 48 hours.
I have a 5s, and so does my friend. We both have the same issue as you.

  • App Store stuck on "waiting" for OS X upgrade 10.8.4. and won`t allow shutdown.

App Store is stuck on "waiting" for OS X upgrade 10.8.4. I succesfully downloaded the package from apple.com and ran it but App Store won`t allow shutdown which is required for the upgrade to take place. What am I to do?

For the App Store, do a Force Quit, go to the apple left side of the menu bar and choose force quit.  That should free the machine to then restart.

  • NetworkManager : stuck at "waiting for authorization"

    Hi!
Installed Arch on my Thinkpad Edge E125 and now having a little problem with NetworkManager in KDE.
I'm certain I've installed pretty much everything needed to make wireless connection possible, the command
    iwlist wlan0 scan
is able to produce a list of wireless routers.
But trying to connect to my home wireless router always stuck at "waiting for authorization" and eventually failed.
I have WEP encryption and double check it to be correct. Wireless worked in other distros.
Any suggestion you might have?  Thank you.

Ecky wrote:Did you go into Manage Connections in kde networkmanager and enter your wep key in the Wireless Security tab for your connection?
Yes I did. Tried entering dozens of time actually.  Thank you anyway.
Now moved to Opensuse and now despite having the correct modules being loaded, my network interface is invisible to the OS!!!
Might return to Ubuntu, where everything just works or cave in to Windows 7 if my patience run out.
For months struggling with one form or another problems with Linux, I just miss more and more of the days where I could could simply get stuff done.
    Sad but true.

  • Application stuck at "Waiting for Upload"

When submitting my application yesterday, I tried to use the web based upload link and the checkbox would never appear for the application binary in the itunesconnect portal. No error message was displayed after the actual upload. The page displatyed 0.9 of 0.9 with an x next to it which just deleted the upload. If I tried to submit as is, the page told me I had to submit a binary, arrgh, which I tried repeatedly.
I then tried to use the "ApplicationLoader" tool. It said the upload was successful but the application is stuck at "Waiting for Upload" status. Anyone else in the same boat? I am using a wildcard appid as the setup suggests. I have checked a couple of other threads mentioning this and how people fixed this. I tried what was in those threads, I am using a wildcard app id.

    darrensi wrote:
Same problem here. Uploaded through the ApplicationLoader last night and its still showing "Waiting for upload" on itunesconnect. This is my second app and I didn't have this problem with the first one - the status was updated to "In review" within a few minutes.
One thing I noticed is that ApplicationLoader itself was acting strangely. On my first app upload, the progress bar chunked along nicely as it was uploading. On my second app upload, the progress bar stayed at zero while the time remaining count quickly counted up to around sixty minutes, then the progress bar went to full and said the app was uploaded.
Anyone else experiencing this or having successful uploads in the past 24 hours?
My app is in "Pending Contract" status since last night. Its moving along. I noticed the same thing at darrensi noticed. However, when the ApplicationLoader delayed, it occurred right before my app was accepted.

  • Stuck on waiting for download? Any quick resolvable tips?

I have paid for the mountain lion and have recent mac book pro with 4 gb ram, NOT the retina model but later than 2009. I am stuck on waiting for mountain lion to download.  I have a good ISP conection and all my other app stores download fine.  Is there something wrong with my mac book pro or the app store or my ISP dns ?  I'm with TalkTalk UK.  I have tried using 8.8.8.8 4.4.4.4 dns also to no avail.

I solved it by holding down in the launchpad on the mountain lion icon with a left mouse click held down.  When it wobbled I removed it with the X.  Sounds simple fix like the iPad troubles some people get, but wasn't expecting it in the full OS of Lion too.  Oh well don't expect anything I guess.
