Right here goes I have had My Packard Bell iMedia S3210 Windows 7 Desktop PC for nearly five year's now I got it from PC World in 2009 in the UK anyway. I look after my computer but my problem is every time
I start my PC it starts ok it goes to post screen displays the Packard Bell Logo then it Say No Signal for about 5-10 Seconds then it goes to Windows Splash Screen doe's that have anything to do with SFC /Scannow CBS.Log.

Please attemp to take out CMOS battery for some seconds, put it in and then check if this issue still persists.
If there still occurs No Signal, please plug out Graphic card and Memory, wipe them and re-plug in.
Also you can check this issue with another VGA cable.
Your issue should be related with Windows OS, included in hardware issue.

Boot Camp problems with Windows 7, and a new Macbook Pro

When I try to install Windows 7, when the process is almost complete and Windows is finalizing all settings, the system reboots then gets stuck at the white/gray bootscreen, and then tries to boot from disk, only to repeat the bootscreen cycle indefinitely. How do I fix this? Thank you very much.

My MAC BOOK is 13 inch, first generation of unibody that I bought when it first came out last November, 2009. It seems that the latest boot camp 3.1 does not support windows7 64 bits on my mac book model. I followed Apple instruction to upgrade boot camp 3.0 when running XP 32 bits. And I then upgrade my XP 32 bits to 64 bit Windows 7. The upgrade/installation was successful but I encountered a lot of problems with the mouse and sound.
1. No sound with my new Windows 7 64 bits.
2. I managed to make Windows 7 64 bit recognize my apple mighty mouse. But the mouse does not funtion normal as expected. It does not work with swiping and scrolling.
3. I could not re-install boot camp 3.0 from windows.old nor from the Mac OS X installation disk. When I tried to run setup.exe from the MAC OS X snow leopard, I got the error "Boot camp x64 is unsupported for this model"
I am really disappointed that boot camp 3.1 is not universally supported for all mac book or mac book pro.
I need help to re-install boot camp for my Windows 7? I bought the upgrade through education upgrade program and I selected to get 64 bit version so I do not want to rollback the installation to 32 bit.

When I restart my computer and hold the option key after creating a bootable usb with windows 7 and partitioning only the original partition shows up. Not the windows one or the bootable usb.

     Okay so first things first this isn't the newest macbook pro. When I open about my mac and go to system report it says it is a Macbook Pro 3,1 and the Boot Rom Version say MBP31.0070.B07. Originally when starting up Boot Camp Assistant there where only two options, the "create windows 7 bootable usb" was not there at all. So after some editing and helpful tutorials I was able to get the option show up and created a bootable usb with windows 7 and downloaded the support software onto a separate flash drive. Finally I did the last step and created a second partition for windows. Once the process is complete my computer automatically restarts.
     This is where the problem is. Once my computer makes the booting up sound it doesn't load up windows it gets stuck on a apple logo as if it's trying to reastart normally and can't. So I shut down and this time I hold down the option key during start up. It brings up the main partition and some recovery thing but no windows partiton and no bootable usb.
     I forgot to mention that I am running OS X 10.9.3. Okay any body want to help me out? Iv'e been at this for hours and can't get an inch closer to having windows. Please and thank you!
P.S. If I missed a discussion that answer my question just point me to it. Iv'e been looking for a while, but who knows i might have missed one.

The only known way to make it work on an external drive is by first installing Windows onto an internal drive, then cloning the install to an external Thunderbolt drive. Thunderbolt is seen as an extension of the internal bus, so Windows doesn't see it as an external device.

Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033 supports Windows 8.1 and can be used with that version. The Mid 2011 iMac is compatible with Windows 8, so you should not have any problem by installing Windows 8.

Can you dual-boot arch linux with Windows 7 ?

Here is my current dilemna; I have Windows still on my netbook for the only reason that I use it for gaming .
Other than that I have Linux Mint dual-booted with it .
Now my question is, can I just instruct arch to install into the already existing linux partition, formatting it and making it it's home, or do I have to delete it, thus rendering my computer inoperable until I successfully dualboot arch with it ? o_O
Or should I take a different approach altogether, and triple boot my netbook with arch, mint, and windows, and then from there delete the mint partition and allocate the free space accordingly using easeus partition master (another reason I still have windows) ?
Please help . D:
PS. I HATE Windows but only kept it because apparently not everyone shares the Linux view of technology . >.>

if youre happy with your partition layout u can just install arch ofc.
while installing you will be prompted to select mount points and create filesystems ( you can skip the partition step )
select your current / partition for, well, /
and /home for.. /home.
the installer will then create new filesystems there (formatting those partitions) and set mountpoints

if you got problems with the kernel, you can try backbox-linux. The kernel there is newer. It is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Dual boot ing pre-installed Windows 8 and windows 7?

I have a lenovo G505s that came with windows 8 and would like to download windows 7 and have them dual boot for gaming purposes so I was wondering I could get any advise on the matter.

Welcome to the forum!
With Windows, generally you have to install the older version first then the newer with dual booting. Since you already have Windows 8 installed that might be a problem. Also resizing the partitions on your hard drive to make room will disable the option to use One Key Recovery at boot up. If the machine is still under warranty, you might wait till the warranty expires before re-arranging things. Also prior to installing Windows 7, make sure there are drivers available for your system's hardware.

T410s with Windows 7 and additional internal Hard Drive with Windows XP. How do I make them work?

I have had my T410s for 9 months and I love it. No problems at all. I was a contractor so I could use whatever laptop I wanted. Now I work for a big company that issued me a Thinkpad T410 with Windows XP. Now the T410 model has a huge heavy battery compared to the T410s. An ex-colleague of mine used to have a T60p with 2 internal Hard Drives one with Windows XP and one with Windows 7, and he could boot the computer with the Hard Drive of choice.
Does anybody know how to do that? I already got the bay and the Windows XP Hard Drive inside the T410s.

How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files? I need to look at several thousand PDF files. It takes too long to open each one individually. The only thing I could think of is combining them into large groups and then using the Navigation index. But I like the way windows Picture and Fax Viewer does it because you can keep the files separate. Combining PDFs causes loss of individual file names. That would be a problem since I do need to have the individual file names.

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is a DLL and is started via a rundll32.exe call and can't be set as an application to handle images in Firefox 3 and later versions.
Try to set Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default viewer in Windows, then it should be listed automatically in the Mozilla Firefox Browse dialog.

thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.
