Boot up error - E   err 5! run recover

Hi everyone,
I recently tried running bootcamp on my macbook pro (2013 version) 13".
It went smooth until the system rebooted, windows started up and was working fine, however i forgot to plug in my laptop before installation begun ( i was literally in the windows operating system at this time)
When i got my  computer charged again, it came up with the message "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key".
I used a windows iso image so i didn't have a disk. I restarted the computer, holding alt, and selecting the macbook HD.
I was able to remove the windows partition but when i tried to install windows 7 again via bootcamp. The mac displays this when the macbook is starting up,
"E + err 5! run recovery"
What can I do to fix this and install windows? its really bugging me.
Cheers

I'd suggest you look at the manufacturer info on the 8 gig modules, then check their website to see if it's compatible with the 13".

  • Error in OAF Page Running

    Hi All,
I created one sample and starting OAF page which displays only the brand logo.
But when I am trying to Run the page it is creating an error as
An error was encountered when running
         "JDeveloper\jedevhome\jdev\myclasses\JRADXML":
No response received in 30 secs.
         Please try the following
         1) Increase the timeout limit by setting the JRAD.RUNREG_TIMEOUT parameter in the ide.properties file located in system directory.
         2) Check the Host Name in the Preferences, under Embedded OC4J.
         3) See the log window for any error message.
I am using Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 version.
I am not ware where this ide.properties file is present. I have totally 4 files in the paths:
         1. \jdevhome\jdev\system\oracle.jdeveloper.10.1.3.41.57
         2. \jdevhome\jdev\system11.1.1.6.38.62.29\o.jdeveloper
         3. \jdevhome\jdev\system11.1.1.6.38.62.29\o.sqldeveloper.11.2.0.10.4
         4. \jdevbin\jdev\system\oracle.jdeveloper.10.1.3.41.57
But, in any of this files there is no such thing as timeout parameter.
I am very new to the Oracle and this OAF part. Please let me know how this issue can be resolved.
Please let me know if anyone has solution for this. Its very high importance.
    Thanks in advance,
    Srivathsava

  • R61 R&R won't start after "unmountable boot volume" error

    Hello all,
New user, first post - after problem, of course.
I have an R61 Thinkpad with Windows XP on it.  (SP2 or SP3, not sure).  Has worked flawlessly for years, then the other day I got the dreaded "unmountable boot volume" error and it would not start.
No problem - I re-start, hit the ThinkVantage button, then hit F11 to use the R&R hidden on a separate partition of the hard drive........I get the black screen with the big progress bar, ok, then a blue screen......then nothing.  Hangs up and sits there.  I have repeated this about 5 times now.
No problem! - I was smart enough to make an R&R CD set a while ago!  Put the primary R&R disk in the CD drive, start the machine, ThinkPad button, F12 this time to choose boot from CD.....much CD activity ensues and I once again get the black screen with the big progress bar.  It takes much longer, and I get teh blue screen - BUT - then it goes one extra step to display the "ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery 4" screen with the life preserver image.
Excellent, I thing - except it then hangs there.  Just sits there.  No disk activity.  No keys will do anything.
I can find no threads here or on any other forum with this particular issue.
Am I fubar?  Or is there something else I can do?
    Thanks a bunch.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi jim, welcome to the forums,
Is the hard drive recognised in BIOS, was there an entry in the boot list against HDD0?
Regardless of it being shown in BIOS / boot list or not, the first thing I would do is to reseat the hard drive and see if that helps, maybe over time it's lost contact to the mainboard socket. If you don't know how to do this you can find out at the R61 movies site.
The next thing I would do is run a hard drive diagnosis check from a bootable cd, these can be downloaded from all HDD manufacturer's websites e.g. Hitachi's Drive Fitness Test.  It may be that the drive has simply gone bad after all those years of work.
Let us know how you get on

My Ipad will not boot up, has a think logo running all the time...any ideas. Also had trouble upgrading to ios.6 the computer is not the original one I synved my ipas too. It started OK then failed. Now it will not connect at all to computer...comes up with an error.!!!

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually about 20 seconds time. Restore iPhone Firmware.

If you have a Mid 2010 model: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. If later then see below:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you have an earlier model:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Hp mini 110 boot disk error after installing new hard drive and system recovery

Need help,  HP mini 110 Windows 7 32 bit.  using my recovery disks I created i was able to recover to the old 160 gb hard drive.  After I installed new 320 Gig drive and used my recovery disks i now get boot disk error. Looks like system was installed on new drive. but will not boot to complete set up.

If you use the recovery disk, your machine will restore to its default factory state. Try to reinstall the 320 GB you have if you want it to get back.
Can't get enough of this Envy...

  • I am getting an error when trying to download  the new Game of Thrones shows. The error is err = -61 You do not have the privilege to make changes. (err = -61) you do not have the privilege  to make changes. I have not had this problem before

I am getting an error when trying to download  the new Game of Thrones shows. The error is err = -61 You do not have the privilege to make changes. (err = -61) you do not have the privilege  to make changes. I have not had this problem before

    Solution:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select your external hard disk and run a “verify” on it. After a few minutes (depending on the size of your drive), you should be good to go. You don’t need to run a “repair” on it... (at least I didn’t have to). See photo for reference.
This should fix the permissions issue, because on my Mac running Mountain Lion I was unable to edit the permissions in the get info dialog window even after "unlocking" the drive.

  • Frequent stalling and Run Recover messages.

    Solaris 9 x86 db-4.2.52.NC-sol9-intel-local
Using named+DLZ in "read only" mode, and local perl script that adds and removes IPs. Very frequently, currently about once a day, the DB will hang (named truss indicates db lock waits perhaps). I can shut everything down, and run recover a few times, and it generally comes back. But it can be somewhat annoying when it happens at 3 am.
Would it possibly help to upgrade to "db-4.6.21.NC" ? After compiling, but not installing, the 4.6.21.NC's db_stat reports "Invalid argument" which makes me suspect I would have to migrate the db first.
I guess I am hoping that either I open it wrong in my script and hence bleed locks or similar. Or, that upgrading to latest version might fix it as there are bugs fixed in that area.
    DLZ opens the db with:
    if ((result = (*db)->open(*db, NULL, db_file, db_name, db_type, DB_RDONLY | bdbhpt_threads, 0)) != 0) {
    My perl script uses:
    $env = new BerkeleyDB::Env
    -Home => $dbenvpath,
    -Flags => DB_INIT_CDB|DB_INIT_MPOOL|DB_CREATE,
    -ErrFile => "error.txt",

    Thank you for your replies.
I have changed to Transactional, both in the C program (named) and the perl script. I also finally got around to (called too many times at 3am) upgrading BerkeleyDB, so now we are running db-4.6.21.NC.
I have made an automated crontab script that runs every minute, if named do not respond, kill it, kill any perl scripts, and run recover. On an average day, it has to recover some 12-20 times a day.
What I have not quite figured out is, why this situation can occur:
    Fri Nov 9 04:02:01 2007 add spammer 65.24.181.238 (cpe-65
    -24-181-238.columbus.res.rr.com)
    Fri Nov 9 04:07:05 2007 : add spammer 90.193.255.64 (5ac1ff4
    0.bb.sky.com)
Fri Nov 09 04:12:00 2007 : FIXING CORRUPT RBL BDB
    Fri Nov 9 04:36:14 2007 : add spammer 83.237.203.50 (ppp83-
    237-203-50.pppoe.mtu-net.ru)
"named" runs all the time, but definitely opens the DB in read-only. The only other process that runs is the perl script. It added a record at 04:07. Since crontab runs every minute, everything was ok at :08 :09 :10 :11 but at 04:12 it was corrupt. Also notice that in this case, there was no over-lap. Just one writer, and one reader.
Anyway, I can add a test for the DB_LOCK_DEADLOCK error code, but since the "correct action is to close any cursors and abort" and my code only uses cursor with c_get (check for existence of data, or rather, get the second record under same key). All execution of the script is to do one transaction and quit. The "clean" part is not in use yet.
The entire perl script is available here:
    http://www.lundman.net/ftp/rbl_add_ip.pl
I could try to upgrade to latest named, but since it opens the DB with READONLY I have assumed the problem must lie with my perl script. Since I recently changed from concurrent to transactional, I do not have any txn_begin() calls, I assume I will have to add them. The examples use db->put, but I assume it will be ok with the perl way of
    $cacheDnsData{"$rbldomain $revIP"} ="$serial $revIP $ttl A 127.0.0.$code";
Or is it advisable to drop the db-tie, and use db->func style calls?

  • Copy Protection Error when doing a system recover - Satellite C655

I have a satellite c655 S5206.  The computer seemed to have a virus as it would lock on windows and eventually wouldn't boot.  I tried using the system recover option built in but it didn't work so I ordered the disk from Toshiba.  When I tried to use them I got an Error 0x80030309 copy protection error.  I though it was a corrupted or bad hard drive so I ordered a new one but I still get the same error when trying to install disk 1 of the system recovery process.  Any help or explanation would be helpful.  Thanks

Hi Models may differ in the way you use your recovery discs. You should read your user manuel to find out how to use these discs. Here's the basic way.
Using Recovery CDs / DVDs / Media
If you have created recovery DVDs/media for your system, you can restore your system from such media, if necessary. For example, if your original internal storage drive fails, you can restore your system to a new internal storage drive from your recovery DVDs/media. For instructions on creating recovery DVDs/media, see the How To: Understanding System Recovery Options + Creating / Purchasing Recovery Media article.
IMPORTANT: The recovery process deletes information stored on the internal storage drive. Be sure to save your work to external media before executing the recovery.
To recover your internal storage drive from recovery DVDs/media:
Make sure your computer is turned off.
Do one of the following: If your recovery files are on DVDs, insert the first recovery DVD into your optical disc drive. If your recovery files are on a USB flash drive, connect the USB flash drive to your computer.
Turn on your computer. When the initial TOSHIBA screen displays, press the F12 key on your keyboard. The boot menu displays.
Using the arrow keys, select the DVD option or the USB Flash option, depending on which type of media you are using, and then press the Enter key.
A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data on your internal storage drive will be deleted and rewritten unless the “Recovery of Factory Default Software with user’s data” option is selected. Click Yes to continue.
When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens and the “Selecting a process” screen displays, select Recovery of Factory Default Software, and then click Next.
On the next screen you may have recovery method options. The default and recommended method is to Recover to Out of Box state.
Follow the on screen instructions as you navigate through the system recovery steps.
The laptop will restart multiple times and install the needed components.
I Love my Satellite L775D-S7222 Laptop. Some days you're the windshield, Some days you're the bug. The Computer world is crazy. If you have answers to computer problems, pass them forward.

  • Boot camp error loading operating system

when i hit restart and held down option, i clicked on windows but it loaded a black screen saying error loading operating system. I am running Os X 10.9.4. Does anyone know why boot camps is not working?

Loner T, not sure if you saw this, but I created a new post with the information you were looking for.  Any help you could provide would be great...thanks.
Re: Boot camp - error loading operating system

  • All Windows I Install return boot\bcd error

    Have a l645d-s4040.
Im Lost now.. I've read many threads similar to my problem, or exactly like my problem. Ive tried it all, and done at least 12 Different installs. heres the info:
Bought it brand new, was unaware of making the restoration disks until it was too late.
I had a virus, so I did "clean all" in diskpart, at the cmd prompt. So i can start fresh. I have a retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, which was the original OS. went through the installation process fine, until the reboot where its supposed to go through the second step of the installation. on reboot i get a "bcd\boot" error. Ive tried repairing the MBR, the Boot record, ive tried using align=1024, ive tried using paragon, and acronis to fix the boot record. Ive tried using boot managers. Ive tried installing windows vista, ive tried windows 7 ultimate 64 and 32 bit versions.. the only OS i can get to install is XP.. Im at a loss
of course of done : Startup Repair (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html)
So after the first step of of installation, which goes fine then reboots to continue the installation i get:
    Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language settings, and then click “Next.”
    3. Click “Repair your computer.”
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configurations data.
    Enter= Continue ESC=Exit
so i reboot with the install cd. which i downloaded from www.mydigitallife.info/windows-7-iso-x86-and-x64-official-direct- download-links-ultimate-professional-and-home-premium/.
And ran the startup repair, first time no OS found and failed to save startup options.  rebooted and this time the repair worked and it booted fine running the 2nd step of the installation process.. on the reboot i got same boot\bcd error.. so i repeated the repair steps above.. it finally booted and finalized the installation.. i got to the desktop fine and installed all my drivers.  when i rebooted i got the same error.
    WHATS UP WITH THIS???

I would restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media, which you can obtain from Toshiba.

    Hello
I really do not know what is wrong there but what you can try is to remove Value Added package and install latest version from Toshiba support page.

  • HT201257 I have a slow boot up, so I wanted to run Apple Hardware Test. AHT never starts

I have a slow boot up, so I wanted to run Apple Hardware Test.
AHT never starts based on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509 but AHT does not come up. Tried it 20 times, no success. I have iMac 2011 w/ Lion. What should I do.

    Hi Titan,
My system didn came with the disk. I have used disk utility to repair the disk, because it showed a boot sector problem during disk verification process. I started disk utility using Cmd+R at startup. The problem was fixed. Not the disk verifies without error.
However, the initial gery screen at startup still take more than two minutes after with the apple icon appears.
    Thanks.

  • BIOS flash went wrong? stop errors, boot disk error

    Hello, I need help.
I tried to update to bios 4.0.  It seemed to have gone well.  I then upped my fsb 5 to 205 because I could.  BSOD- stop error.  So I put back to old settings...  Same thing.  Then I greatly reduced settings...again, same thing.  I tried usin repair with my win2k disk.  BSOD- "inaccessable boot disk" and told me to "run chkdsk / f."
I tried to boot into safe mode command prompt so I could run chkdsk /f, but I got the BSOD stop error again.
I reverted back to previous bios 3.9.  But that did not solve my problems.
I am guessing I need to repair the HD boot sector?  Whenever I get a stop error it tells me it "cannot find dll winsrv" or something like that.
Any help on how to get this thing back up and running would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Had nothing to do with RAM or boot record.  Since the machine was telling me to chkdsk, i took out the HD and put it in another machine.  I ended up repairing windows on that machine, then taking it to my machine and it worked.  I can't explain the strange errors I got, but at least I fixed the problem.
    Thank you for your responses.
