Bootcamp 1.1.1, Apple Keyboard Drivers and Trojan.Bancos

I just upgraded to Bootcamp 1.1.1 (from 1.0) to get my camera, keyboard and soundcard working properly (on my rarely used Win XP); and, not to my surprise, stumbled upon a Trojan.Bancos warning (from PestPatrol in my WinXP partition) from the Macintosh Drivers CD (specifically the /Apple Keyboard/Setup.exe file). Since I created the file in my OSX partition, it's technically not possible to get this Trojan through Windows. I searched the Trojan but it looks like it's a PC pest (wow, that's shocking)... how did I get a drivers CD with a PC trojan through my Mac OS? Norton fails to recognize it and I can't get the same warning again when I scan the CD again with PestPatrol. Did anyone get this problem?

I know that my machine is still vulnerable but I don't understand how a Mac generated CD could be infected with a PC trojan... the weirdest of all PC trojans (apparently it's a Brazilian banking trojan that steals bank passwords form portugese websites)...

  • New Apple Keyboard - Dashboard and Exposé Keys not working

I have the new Apple Keyboard connected to my PowerMac G5 and i have installed the lasted Keyboard Software Update (1.1) from the Apple website. All new function keys are working (the media keys, brightness, etc.) except for the dashboard and exposé keys. I cannot get them to work, not even asign them in the preferences. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?

I bought the new aluminum keyboard the other day, but didn't notice there was a software update required. Last night a keyboard software package appeared in Software Update, so I downloaded and installed it. Now virtually nothing works in the function keys except brightness and volume. No dashboard where it's supposed to be, no Exposé, and worryingly no F12 Preview In Browser, which I use a lot for Dreamweaver and web design. Dashboard now appears in F13.
I then went and downloaded the 1.1 Update I should have done in the first place, but this has changed nothing. And yes, I think the PowerPC users are being forgotten when this new stuff is made. But...just how many million of us are there?

  • Apple Keyboard and 2.0/2.1

When I installed Leopard and BC 2.0 over the Beta Boot Camp I was using with Tiger, I had no problems. When I installed 2.1 I lost control of my keyboard (Apple Standard). It doesn't work period. Neither 2.0 or 2.1 can load the Apple Keyboard Module. I have to install a Microsoft Keyboard to work in Windows which is on its own internal HD but I have no control of the 2 DVD doors.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the Apple Keyboard Module installed in XPSP2? Barring that, is there any way to map my Microsoft Keyboard to issue the Apple Keyboard EJect and EJect|Option key commands to open my DVD doors?

Perhaps you should search or post in the Boot Camp forum? Your question isn't, necessarily, specific to your MacBook but rather the Boot Camp software. Parallels also have their own support forums:

  • MacMini Apple Keyboard crazy at startup

I Have Mac mini Intel 10.6.8, 2.53 dual core 4g ram.  Apple keyboard USB and wireless apple mouse.
At First it seemed like a broken keyboard... with keys not responding and some keys activating sporadically without my pressing.
got a new keyboard and reinstalled a clean operating system on an Erased HD, tried other usb ports.
I did all the rests for cpu and pram.
    What Happens now is.
Computer boots normally and upon complete boot the number 5 presses automatically without me pressing any keys. its stops only when I press any key on the key board.
I found this out by accident. not touching anything but using the mouse and launching text editor. once text editor launched the number 5 is continuously pressed and looks like this (555555555555) non stop until i press another key. it stops until it decides to start again without warning or rational reason i could think of later on doing the same thing.
Please let me know what you think it might be and how I could fix the problem.

I did more research and as it turns out I have been Microsofted by Apple. Yes the reason I hated Microsoft has happened to me by apple. My Keyboard problems happened with the newest update of 10.6.8 and update of firmware 1.1
    This really blows. ARRRGH!

  • New Apple Keyboard with MacBook Pro

Hi - I got the new Apple keyboard today and in spite of other users opinion - I like it very much. It is small and very silent. I had a good feeling for the touch from the start. I love the new keys for multimedia, especially those for iTunes.
Only complaint I have: the keys for Dashboard and Exposé dont seem to work at all. Similar experiences or advice?
    Thanks...

I just got my MBP yesterday and immediately found Expose to be an issue with the keyboard. I did some hunting and here's the solution:
this is easy. Go to the Keyboard/Mouse setup and uncheck "Use F1-F12 for Software features". That makes the F-keys F-keys again. If you want to control brightness and volume again then press "fn" plus the corresponding f-key.
Unfortunately, you can't customize it between the 2 modes so I went withusing hot corners.

  • Bootcamp and Apple Keyboard Support

    Hi,
Been looking on the internet but have had no luck!
When using a Macbook Pro in Windows XP, I am having trouble getting inverted commas, speech marks, whatever you call them, basically this below
The comma below is fine, when you shift however to use these inverted commas, Apple's keyboard support provides this
    ¨
which isn't very useful when writing VB code. Was wondering if anyone knew any possible solutions? Every other button and when shifting provides the right charactor. At the moment Im having to copy and paste them which is most frustrating as I have to copy and paste other stuff all the time too.
    Thanks

  • Installing old wireless keyboard drivers on a new bootcamp?

I wanted to share an experience of keyboard problems with windows 7 and bootcamp, and then ask a question about bootcamp on my soon-to-arrive shiny new iMac.
Current machine: Core 2 duo 24" iMac mid 2007; Mavericks; bootcamp created with version 3.0, but then upgraded for Windows 7
Yesterday did an upgrade install from Vista to Windows 7 and installed the latest bootcamp version 4 drivers.  (this was a 32 bit not 64 bit setup - since the Vista I upgraded from was 32 bit).
I then had driver problems with my 2007 vintage wireless keyboard...  The keyboard would work for a moment or two, but then stop.  It was still paired, but nothing you typed showed up in Windows.  (It worked fine in OSX of course...)
Eventually after huge amounts of googling some page gave me the idea of changing the driver for the keyboard.
If you go to Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Human interface devices -> Apple Keyboard then right click and select "Update Driver Software",  then select "Browse my computer", then select "Let me pick", you get a list of all the driver versions that have ever been installed on your computer for that peripheral.  Because I had started out with a Bootcamp 3 installation, which I'd then updated, the version 3.0.0.0 apple keyboard driver was still in the list of available drivers.  Selected that, and bingo, the keyboard worked perfectly.
Only issue is, I've just bought a nice new iMac (arrives next week) and I can't see how I can get the version 3 keyboard driver onto it's boot camp.  I want to set boot camp up from scratch, so that I can have 64 bit windows running.  But if I do that Boot Camp Assistant 5 will install the very latest drivers, presumably including an apple keyboard driver that doesn't like my old wireless keyboard.  And while the bootcamp 4 and subsequent driver sets include separate .exe files for different things (including the keyboard), the 3.x drivers were just a single executable.  And if you try to run it on top of a more recent set of drivers, it just tells you it isn't needed and stops.
Question: Any idea how I can install the 3.0.0.0 keyboard driver on a brand new iMac with Bootcamp 5.0 set up?
(For various reasons I've ordered my new mac with the wired keyboard, but I might still sometimes want to use it with my old wireless one).

It depends on which version of LP9 you own.....
If you don't already own an earlier version you cannot buy Logic Pro 9 any longer from Apple.. It is discontinued....
If you do own an earlier version then...
App Store version? Just sign into the Mac App Store... using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic in the first place...and Logic Pro 9 will be found under the Purchase Tab for you to click on and download..
DVD Version? Install via DVDs .... If you don't have a DVD player in your Mac you will need to purchase an external one.... or use another Mac which has a DVD drive using Remote Disk
DVD or CD sharing: Using Remote Disc
    Install....
Do not run Logic but instead....
Update to 9.1.8 via this link....
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    Now launch Logic....

  • Bootcamp Hangs on "Apple Keyboard" install

Hey everyone, Im running A 27" iMac Snow Leopard 10.6.4 (Aug 2010, Intel Quad 2.93 i7, 8GB Ram) and running BootCamp 3.0.2 (314) Trying to install XP SP3, here is my issue..
Partition 99GB on my 2TB drive for XP SP3 32 bit (I have a retail copy)
Launch Boot camp and format the 99GB in NTFS normal
install windows, setup windows and get to XP desktop
Insert OS X Install DVD to load drivers
Drivers install until it reaches "Apple Keyboard" and it hangs, I let it sit for 1 hour to make sure it just didn't take long..
I read on another post to just open the disc, and install the drivers manually avoiding anything that has to deal with keyboard/mouse and USB.
So I started that process, but everything seems to hang.. I tried to install ATI.. hangs halfway through.. I tried iSight, it installed (or so it said) and when I tried to launch the isight from my computer, it hangs and wont open it.
Im at a loss here.. anybody seen this before. I cant believe this is happening.. any thoughts?

I just fixed my issue.. Make sure EVERYTHING is unplugged. Make sure you only have your keyboard and mouse plugged in to your USB ports. I had 4 external drives, an audio interface and a few USB flash drives in my mac.. and for that reason, it would hang at "Apple Keyboard for some reason.
    Good luck!

  • Apple keyboard driver for Windows XP without running Bootcamp constantly

I just reinstalled Bootcamp/WindowsXP and wanted to know if there was a way I can get a driver for JUST the keyboard working.  I don't use any of the MBP F key functions like backlighting and volume so don't like having the bootcamp processes always running, especially because I hate the backlight on keyboards that you can't fully turn off without a slightly annoying thing each startup.  I use an external keyboard which has all the extra F key functions, but again never use them. I just need a way that I can keep functionality of the F keys without running Bootcamp proccesses in the background and the <Use F1,F2, F3, keys as normal function"
    TL;DR
Apple keyboard driver for WindowsXP so I can properly use F# keys w/out

From what I know, the BootCamp Driver installer program install all the Windows required drivers and it does not offer any customization options of which drivers the user wants to install on their Windows partition.
Now you can recover normal F-key functionality by doing the following:
Go to the Bootcamp Control Panel in the desktop task bar.
Click Allow if the Windows asks permission.
The Bootcamp Control Panel will open.
Look in the tabs at the top of the Windows and click the "Keyboard" header.
There you should see an option that says "Use F/Keys..." or something similar. There you will be able to use the keys normally as in a Windows PC.
    Hope this helps!

  • Keyboard drivers usable on non-Apple machines?

Hello, I want to use the new Apple keyboard (wired, USB 2.0) on a Windows laptop (meaning *non-Apple hardware*). Connecting it is as easy as plugging it in but some keys do not map to anything. My question is: Can I use the Apple keyboard driver with non-Apple hardware? Are there dedicated drivers for non-Apple machines?

Aluminum Keyboards? Here is what I did...
I took my BootCamp drivers CD and loaded it into a PC notebook, as well as a desktop. It installed way too much stuff. I uninstalled.
Next I loaded the cd and cancelled the auto-install. I looked at the contents from (right-click) "explore". I dragged the Apple drivers into a desktop "new" folder. I recreated the contents of the cd exactly the same but without all the excess hardware drivers and stuff. It installed. I got the keyboard manager and everything. I plugged in the keyboard (wired and wireless - returned the wireless board because I don't like replacing batteries plus the "fn" key was unresponsive) and it works. So does Mighty Mouse (wired).
I forgot to "just try" the keyboard without the BootCamp drivers - maybe it works anyway! I'm happy with it.

  • Can I use my Apple Keyboard in a non-bootcamp Windows 7 OS?

    Hello,
I am building myself a secondary gaming PC to complement my Mac Pro (which I will continue to work on) but would like to 'reuse' my Apple Keyboard that I like so much.
From running Windows 7 in bootcamp on my current Mac Pro I know that the keyboard works really well in Windows 7 but since this new PC is a 'genuine' windows pc without any of Apples hardware or bootcamp software I was wondering if I could still somehow use it?
Also in case you can use it, is it possible to get the keyboard drivers perhaps without all the other stuff the bootcamp installer brings with it?
    Thanks,
    Jannis

  • Apple Wireless Mouse and Keyboard lose connection running games in Vista

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate for playing games on my iMac. During games the *wireless Apple keyboard and wireless Might Mouse seem to loose connection at random intervals.* Looks like the bluetooth connection is lost (?, this is a guess). After 30 to 60 seconds the keyboard and mouse work again. This does not happen when using an USB mouse or keyboard.
    Any suggestions?
All drivers are updated with driver suggestions form other posts.
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate on a 20inch 2,4GH iMac. Using Leopard Boot Camp. Wireless Apple Keyboard and wireless Might Mouse. All 2008 models.

    Found a post which said;
always use a passkey for bluetooth devices in Vista using Boot Camp. Removed keyboard and mouse, reinstalled with passkey. Maybe this is helpfull.

  • Can I force the bootcamp wizard to skip looking for the bootcamp drivers?  I have already downloaded the latest drivers and loaded them on a FAT usb drive.  All I want is for bootcamp to create the partition and allow me to install windows 8 pro

    Hi Everyone,
Can I force the bootcamp wizard to skip looking for the bootcamp drivers?  I have already downloaded the latest drivers and loaded them on a FAT usb drive.  All I want is for bootcamp to create the partition and allow me to install windows 8 pro.
The bootcamp drivers have been downloaded from apple's website.  Filename:  BootCamp5.0.5033
    I have a iMac 27" late 2013 model.
NOTE:  I have downloaded the drivers manually from apples support site as the bootcamp wizard fails third of the way through the download.
    Appreciate any assistance.
    Regards,
    asdutoit

There is a missing point in this thread, and it is that the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2013 iMac can only be downloaded from Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp drivers available in the Apple site are not compatible with that iMac.
Delete the Boot Camp drivers from the USB drive, open Boot Camp Assistant and try to download the Boot Camp drivers again. If you get a message telling you that they could not be downloaded, I would try reinstalling OS X through OS X Recovery, by holding down Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up

  • Using Apple keyboard with Windows (bootcamp)

Does anyone have a cheat sheet for using a wired Apple keyboard with Windows 7 (the bootcamp setup)? I like to use keyboard shortcuts, both in OS X and in Windows. When I switch to my Windows partition, I haven't figured out the key combinations to use on the Apple keyboard.
UPDATE: Never mind. I found it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5636?viewlocale=en_US

As the title has stated, I have recently installed Windows XP on my Bootcamp Partition. I am in need of the "Windows Support Software". I am assumeing that is the information that has the Drivers and what not that allow me o properly use my Mac with windows. If anyone can help me locate this inforamtion i would be greatly.... Greatfull.
P.S. The bootcamp assistant is telling me that the Windows Support Sofware canot be found.

You both would have had correct awnsers, but i have a Macbook that is close to three years old. And i can't seem to find my Disc. The only reason i haven't ordered a new one in case of emergencies is I plan on upgrading to the new OS in less then a month.
