Bootcamp 2.1 install xpsp3 or vista ?

Hello, after reading there is a new bootcamp available (2.1).
which windows version do you recommend me to install on an imac with leopard, for non gaming-purpose.
thank you all !
p.s.: should i buy an oem windows or not, where are the best bargains (europa) ?

Hi from Hamburg to Cologne,
unless you don't have specific software that right now needs XP and maybe does not run in Vista, it's more a question of your personal taste.
For future sake, I would say Vista (although I myself stick with XP).
An OEM version (or SystemBuilder, as they are called here in Germany) works just fine.
A good place to look is Alternate http://www.alternate.de

  • BootCamp will not install in Windows Vista

I installed Windows Vista on my MBP 17" OSX (10.6.4) with no problems. The problem is now when I go to the Vista side, and try to install BootCamp drivers, I get a message saying "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model". Does any one know what is wrong? Does my Vista need updating? Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Windows 8 also works, but only with compatible Macs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US Note that you can also install Windows 8 in non-supported Macs by Apple, but you will not be able to install the Windows support software.
As you have got Mac OS X Snow Leopard and after checking that your Mac supports Windows 8, you need to download the Windows support software from this website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1638

    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then 4. click Next.
    5. Click Repair your computer.

  • Bootcamp only saying "install windows 7" , also not working with install disks

i want to install windows 8.1
as u can see bootcamp only says "install windows 7"
i think that i can't do a usb drive install without deleting everything off the only usb stick i have, right?
so i have an install disc instead, like u used to be able to do
should it be working with a disc?
i have a copy of windows 7 as well, so i even tried to install 7 off a disc and this is the message i get when i have either the 8.1 or 7 disc in the drive and i click "continue"
i also figured it would give me the option of how space to allocate before it asked for the install disk

For Macs with built-in Optical drive, you need the Windows installer on a DVD. What year/model is the Mac? (The option to create USB Installer is missing which is also a clue).
The Windows DVD is identified as 'legitimate'. From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions - Apple Support
Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 5.1?
Boot Camp 5.1 supports 64-bit, non-Enterprise versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1. This version of Boot Camp doesn't support Windows XP, Windows Vista, or any 32-bit version of Windows. Depending on your Mac, you may be able to use an earlier version of Boot Camp to work with other versions of Windows. For details, see the Boot Camp system requirements for Microsoft Windows.

  • How do I get bootcamp back after installing windows 8?

    Hi,
I have to admit, I messed up .. big time  :-(
I had a nice working setup with OS X and Windows 7 and bootcamp.
Then I got a disc with windows 8. I installed it, and forgot to use my head!!
It was NOT a windows 8 update dics, so it installed windows 8, disgarding my windows 7 installation.
On top of that I had to delete most of the windows.old folder to get room for new instalaltions of the tools I need in windows 8.
But then I found out that bootcamp was not installed because there was no speaker sound on netflix and eventhough it could recognise that I had inserted a head set ..there was no sound. I couldn't use the FN key no more, bluetooth was dead and I couldn't switch back to my OS X because there was no bootcamp application to help me change back and I can't see the OS X partiion in windows 8.
On top of that, I can't find my !"¤!#"!!" OS X installation discs. Been looking for 2 days now and I'm getting desperate.
Is there anyone out there who can help me getting my bootcamp back on my windows 8 making me able to switch back to OS X and to get drivers installed for all my nice macbook pro devices in Windows 8 ??

The option key is not the command key. Hold Option, Command won't do what you want.
Press it when you hear the chime (not before) release it when you see the Boot Manager.

Trying to download itunes onto PC installed with windows vista. Download keeps getting to 99% with 1 second remaining and then freezes / does nothing? Any help appreciated.

I solved the problem! The updates orignally were downloaded to the C: drive of the server. I've since moved them to the E: drive and for some reason the Content folder in IIS didn't change the file path to the new WSUScontent folder.
The root cause for this was failing to use the UTILITY designed for this very purpose.
I edited the virtual directory settings in IIS and was able to put the correct path in.
You still need to use the UTILITY.. to fix all the other stuff you're still missing.
    In the %ProgramFiles%\Update Services\Tools folder...
    WSUSUTIL MOVECONTENT E:\WSUS E:\WSUS\MoveContent.LOG -SKIPCOPY
This problem was caused by moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.
No. This problem was caused by IMPROPERLY moving the WSUS updates to a different local drive.

  • Adobe Reader V9.0 will not install on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

I have Windows Vista Ultimate Build 6001 and tried to install adobe reader V9.0. The download was fine but when I run the program (AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe) it returns the error:
    "NOSSO (R) has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available
    Close program"
So I guess my questions are
    1. Is there a version of adobe reader that will install on windows vista ultimate SP1?
    or
    2. Is there another pdf reader that will work with Vista Ultimate SP1?
Thanks for any and all assistance!!
    Mark

I am getting the exact same error:
I have a brand new HP xw8600 systems with 64 bit Vista Ultimate installed.
Via google I found a suggestion to turn on user account control.
I went to control panel > User Account > Turn User Account Control
checked the box and restarted the system. I ran the install as the administrator. It was a minor improvement. Instead of the error coming up immediately like it was, I got the OS confirmation asking if I wanted to install the program. I got the failure right have selecting "yes"
Running out of clues... any help?

  • Hp officejet pro 8000 a809 installed locally on vista business with driver 8.12.2008cant share to xp

My customer has a HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 installed locally on Vista Business with driver 8.12.2008 He wants to share this for use on the XP PC but after installation on XP and trying to go into printer properties the message comes up "The HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 Series' printer driver is not installed on this computer. etc etc Do you want to install the driver now? It doesnt matter if you go through the installation process or not, when you try and print a test page you get "Test page failed to print. Would you like to troubleshoot etc"
I have tried installing the XP drivers locally AND on the Vista PC but with no luck. On the shared tab under "additional drivers" there are only Vista drivers listed.
    Any advice gratefully received.

Depending on the model of the unit it may not be wireless. if it says A809n then it is a wireless model, but the A809a model is not.  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01659070.pdf Here is the manual for that unit in case you need it.

Not to sound stuffy - but you would do better posting this in the BootCamp forum.
It's not an unusual problem and others have posted ways to fix it.

  • Oracle 10g install on Windows Vista Ultimate

Basic question on whether Oracle 10g can be installed on Windows Vista Ultimate. Any link suggesting the same will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kaz

I have installed Oracle Database 10gR2 Enterprise Edition on Vista Business Premium and run it with no issues.
Suggestion is to download the 'for Vista' version (http://download.oracle.com) and read the install manual (http://tahiti.oracle.com) before installing. The read the Platform Guide for Windows to follow-up management techniques.
