Bootcamp 3.2, 3.1 and 3.1

I am new to Mac, so my apologies if this is an obvious question. After using bootcamp to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro, I tried to upgrade using 3.2 Windows software upgrade. It says that I need 3.1 which says I need 3.0. After much searching I found from forums that I need to have Snow Leopard installation disk. My Macbook Pro did not come with the installation disk. Is there a way to create an installation disk or do you need to purchase one even though I am running Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro?

No reputable seller will not include OEM DVD for OS X.
How then did you get 10.6?
You should have OEM DVD at the least.
Contact Apple, that DVD has Apple Hardware Test included plus iLIfe Suite.
They can ask for some information and take care of it.
Snow Leopard DVD (10.6.3 currently) is $29.

  • Can I force the bootcamp wizard to skip looking for the bootcamp drivers?  I have already downloaded the latest drivers and loaded them on a FAT usb drive.  All I want is for bootcamp to create the partition and allow me to install windows 8 pro

    Hi Everyone,
Can I force the bootcamp wizard to skip looking for the bootcamp drivers?  I have already downloaded the latest drivers and loaded them on a FAT usb drive.  All I want is for bootcamp to create the partition and allow me to install windows 8 pro.
The bootcamp drivers have been downloaded from apple's website.  Filename:  BootCamp5.0.5033
    I have a iMac 27" late 2013 model.
NOTE:  I have downloaded the drivers manually from apples support site as the bootcamp wizard fails third of the way through the download.
    Appreciate any assistance.
    Regards,
    asdutoit

There is a missing point in this thread, and it is that the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2013 iMac can only be downloaded from Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp drivers available in the Apple site are not compatible with that iMac.
Delete the Boot Camp drivers from the USB drive, open Boot Camp Assistant and try to download the Boot Camp drivers again. If you get a message telling you that they could not be downloaded, I would try reinstalling OS X through OS X Recovery, by holding down Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up

I finally got it to work correctly.  I re-formatted the external hard drive and everything worked fine.

    Hello
on my macbook air i have a partition for boot camp and windows 7 pro is installed on it. today i decided to install autodesk maya mac version on my mac which really has nothing to do with windows or boot camp ,but after installation was done ,when i was going to install the network license manager , the computer had to restart to finish the installation process, instead of booting in mac it booted in windows and when i tried to restarted and keep it in mac ,it didn't let me to stay in mac for more than 2 seconds and started the booting process again by itself and took me back to windows again.
this process went on and on ,no matter what i do ,it does not let me stay in mac .Even i decided to get rid of the bootcamp and windows altogether and say **** with it (as i did 8 years ago) but it does not let meenogh time to do this and get rid of that .I really have no idea what else to do .i did google the problem ,but obviously nobody else had this kind of problem ,so google was no help.please help me in this matter and let me know what i can do .I have no prblem of uninstalling  the bootcamp ,if no other option is left .
    thanks.mike

    Hi mende1
thank you for that quick respond.
yes i can start into osx . but as i mentioned i just let me stay there  only 2 seconds , and after that restarts by itself.
i just noticed that may be safari is the cause of all this . i just changed the startup disk ,and now mac is the start up disk ,but again after 2 seconds the rebooting process starts automatically and does not let me do anything .

I have an MacPro 5,1 with EVGA GTX 680 Mac EDITION, with two SSD drives
    1 SSD Mac OS X 10.8.5
    1 SSD Windows 8.1
Using BootCamp5.1.5621 drivers on the MacPro.
    DAY1
Put in the new Card OS X Booted Great, tested everything as expected.  Then I booted over to Windows 8.1  Screen resolution came in at 640x480, so I rebooted.  The screen was completely black on reboot.
    DAY2
Read that Windows 8.1 was using old or expired drivers in its automatic driver updates, I safe-booted and disabled
    like here

I uninstalled ALL drivers for windows 8.1  I rebooted and under DEVICE MANAGER it saw my video card as the Generic Microsoft Video driver or whatever it was.
I then installed the EVGA drivers according to the EVGA website.
    I tried Driver 335.23
During install SCREEN FLASHES BLACK, then BLACK FOREVER.
    WENT BACK TO STEP1.
    I tried Beta Driver 334.67
During install SCREEN FLASHES BLACK, then BLACK FOREVER.
    WENT BACK TO STEP1.
    I tried GEFORCE DRIVERS 334.89, 326.01, 327.23 and 335.23.

Then I went back to the BOOTCAMP folder, found the NVIDIA drivers for the video card and it ERRORS during the installation.
I can't even begin to explain how frustrated I am,
BTW the card is SUPER SOLID and runs Perfect in OS X.
    I drowing in black screens...

It removed all extra peripherals and it worked.  Ended up being an ATTOTECH card, that was making it crash.

  • How do I know if I have bootcamp on my computer? And if I swtich to run windows, can i download and use Authorware?

I am not 100% sure if we have bootcamp on our computers. How can I be sure? And if I do not have it, can i get it and for how much?
Also if I use bootcamp to switch from the mac os to a windows os, can i download a plug in that is not compatable with Mac and use it?
We purchased our iMacs in 11-2010. We LOVE them. We will never switch back. However, the attorney that I work for has to do online training with a Sheriffs dept to maintain some of his credintals. We check with the help desk and they just do not support any apple products. Their online training requires two plug ins, Adobe flash, which we have, and Authorware, which will not work on our macs. And like I said the website's help desk just doesn't support any apple use.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Boot Camp Assistant is included on the OSx installation disk. There is no charge. Boot Camp Assistant is used to create a Windows partition on which you install the Windows operating system.
You need to buy a retail version of Windows. Once Windows is installed on the Boot Camp partition you can boot your computer into OSx or into Windows.
You can install and use Windows software when you are booted into Windows.
There is a Boot Camp Installation Guide on your installation disk.

  • Bootcamp, Win 8.1 Pro and Downgrading

I have a couple of people in my home that will not respond well to Windows 8, myself included.
I have a copy of 8.1 pro and would like to use the downgrade rights to access Windows 7 for use on the bootcamp side.
How do I do this? I've seen online where you need a win 7 product key to downgrade to win 7 from 8, and at that point, why upgrade just to downgrade again?!?!?! Can I call MS with the 8 product key to get a 7 product key?
Thanks for the input. Appreciate it

    Call Microsoft and ask them.

  • Bootcamp 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 ALL crash my windows 7

I have been trying to solve this problem for a little while now, but to no avail. I have Win 7 x64 ultimate installed on my Early 2009 Mac Pro, running the latest Snow Leopard. I'm using the new ATI 5870 card, which is great, but if I install any version of bootcamp above 2.0, my computer crashes immediately after startup. I'll see the Windows login screen, login, watch the desktop load, and after about 10 seconds, the the screen turns to fuzz and restarts. EVERY TIME. After this happened so many times, I installed the Bootcamp 2.0 software from my Mac Pro disc and it works without a hitch.
What is with these drivers? Anyone have the same problem, but fix it? I have tried 3.0, 3.1, and now 3.2, which had my hopes up, but still the same problem.
    The only setups I can get to work are;
a.) No boot camp drivers installed
    b.) Boot camp 2.0 installed.
    Any other update crashes it.
    Thanks for the help!

Ah, I don't know what if any change there is in Boot Camp 3.2, seems we are on our own doing the dirty testing on these. Otherwise, I'd say "no" to MacDrive8 and take a look at Paragon-Software (on special) for their HFS+ driver.
Apple needs an "on/off" switch and to either put in another control panel or expand the Boot Camp control panel they have now to have more features.
I prefer the separate approach, don't install unless asked, have a custom installer so you can skip on AppleHFS/MNT 'feature'.
MacDrive8 does disable and take over HFS+ service but not sure how stable and good.
Some HFS+ filenames are definitely not valid to Windows and to NTFS, any with special characters for instance and can cause that 'green bar' and hang Explorer (bring it to its knees) - I had to clean up all my files to make sure there were none with quotes and other marks.

  • BootCamp Advice on gaming uses and which Windows OS to use.

I am about to purchase a new MacBook Pro 13.3 inch with 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 320M GeForce NVIDEA card, 256MB.
I am going to use it as a hub in university but also I am going to use it as a gaming device. I am using the Mac OSX to run the intensive RTS games (e.g Total War games) but I would also like to know if I can use BootCamp to run windows games on the Mac too, so I can play a wider library (E.g. FPS games also found on the consoles, RPGs and so on).
If this is the case, which windows OS should I use? XP, Vista, or Windows 7, to get the best gaming experience from my specs. Note that price is not a deal-breaker but it is a disadvantage, so if for example XP was only marginally worse than Windows 7, I would probably take it and avoid unneeded cost.
Just as a note, I am unlikely to use Bootcamp for anything else very intensive, just if I have any other compatibility issues with programs I need to run.

    shaun Macdonald wrote:
Supposing I am not going to buy new games but merely build up a library of current ones, is Window 7 64bit worth the price?
As in does it run the games significantly better for any reason? And does anybody know which is preferable when tackling the problem of bootcamp overheating Macbook Pros when playing games?
Sounds like you are rationalizing why you should stay with an older OS. I use Windows 7 64bit every day running in BootCamp for work. It runs quick, is extremely stable (leaps and bounds better than XP or Vista), it is more secure, is easier to network, I never experience instability, and I never have overheating issues. I don't know what running games "significantly better" means. The games will run as they were designed to run.
The advantages of Windows 7 over XP or Vista are well documented. But if you want to stay with an older OS that is your choice. I opted to go with the better OS.

  • Bootcamp Not Install Xp. Restarts and Ejects disk???

    Hi,
I have an Alu 24" imac running Snow Leopard and using Bootcamp 3.x
I had a previous Windows Xp bootcamp partition but it was getting a bit small and i felt a nice clean install would do it some good as well.
So i opened Bootcamp Assistant, deleted the old partition and ran a disk permission on my mac drive just to get the yin and yang all back together.
I created a new Bootcamp partition (Bootcamp icon appears on desktop, etc) made it 105gb and popped in my WinXp sp2 disk. I then hit Start Installation. My mac restarts, takes a while on the white screen ejects my disk and then loads my log in to mac os x. I tried again. Bootcamp, start install, it restarts, takes a while then ejects and takes me to the mac log in. So i restarted again and held down alt. Only the mac drive pops up, no other option to boot into even with the cd popped in.
Any ideas? It's the same cd i used for the first bootcamp partition i had, i've also tried my win7 cd that i used in parallels file and the same thing happens?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tara

    I got mine to work
I'll tell you what i did in case it helps fix yours as well but i don't know if this is an actual solution or just worked for me but here goes.
I finally decided to create another version of the dvd i had which was an orginal win7 downloaded from my school's MSDN account.
I popped in the dvd which mac os x mounted fine and opened it up - bunch of files and folders as it's supposed to have.
I opened Disk Utilities, highlighted the dvd in the left side and hit create new image. When that was done my new image file name appeared on the left also, I clicked it then hit burn, put in a new blank cd and let it go. When that was done i ran the Bootcamp Assistant an hit start installation. It restarted and loaded up the WIN7 boot cd.
So i reckon i just needed to stroke my mac's ego a little. Yes, mac you did all the work, you even created the cd, good boy, now load it, yes well done
I hope that helps someone else, if not good luck on finding a solution that works for you to

  • Bootcamp rebooting...wear and tear

    Hi all,
I'm now 2 weeks into my new macbook pro (i am a PC switcher), and still lovin it. I just wanted to get people's opinions on something.
I have installed XP using bootcamp for the sole purpose of playing a few games and using 1 online app that requires IE. Other than that, I'm strictly OS X Leopard.
What are your opinions of the wear and tear on the computer from having to reboot from one OS to another constantly. Constantly being like once a day or once every 2 days. My profession is in electronics, more specifically single board computers used in wireless telecom infrastructure. So i am fairly knowledgeable in this area. I know that "soft" boots are no big deal. As no power is removed from the board. It's just a reset signal to every part on the board. However the stuff i work on doesn't have a harddrive or any mechanical parts like a "computer" does.
Everytime you reboot the harddrive stops spinning and then restarts along with the optical drive possibly right?
So chime in please. What's your opinion?

If it were a problem, Apple would have never made Boot Camp.
It is not a problem at all.
I have been doing it for months without any issues.

  • BOOTCAMP! Restarted into XP and now there's no sound.

    Hey,
Recently started using bootcamp and have successfully managed to restart into Windows XP. Although since then I have stumbled upon many problems, first I had a lot of problems with my microphone (my voice sounds distorted and very very strange). Then, now, I can not hear any sound on Windows what so ever, also when I try to adjust the volume there is a little sign on it telling me there is no sound device at all.
I have re-installed the Mac OSX drivers on here twice and it does not seem to be helping.
ANY help would be much appreciated, I haven't had the laptop for long and am a bit worried
    Thank you x

  • Bootcamp Partition Wont Mount, Boot and Is not Readable

thank you in advance to anyone who can be of support.
I have been running parallels desktop 6.0 on my macbook pro with no issues. I was using bootcamp as my virtual machine. I was also using bootcamp independently with absolutely no problems.
After upgrading to Lion, Parallels no longer worked and I used bootcamp exclusively. Finally i got fed up with having software that I paid for not work and tried to re-configure parallels to work. I erased all virtual machines and tried creating a new one from bootcamp. Parallels changed the name of my bootcamp partition to "disk0s4." Setup did not complete and now i have no parallels. Further, my bootcamp no longer works. I cannot even access the partition. It is greyed out on disk manager. I ran the recovery tool and tried repairing the partition and got the error: "disk utility cannot repair the disk.....reformat."
If anyone can tell me how to get this partition working again, it would be a miracle. However, at this point, my sole concern is somehow retrieving ONE folder that was saved on my desktop in windows that has some very very important documents that were not backed up last night. If someone can help me access those files through the mac side, I would be very appreciative.
I am running Parallels 6.0.12094. I have Mac OS X 10.7 on a MacBook Pro. Bootcamp was running 32-bit Windows 7.
I have posted this in the parallels forum as well.  I figured someone on this forum would be more likely to adivse me as to whether I can somehow access files stored on the greyed out partition.  thanks.
I have attached a screen shot of what disk utility states.  Note it says the drive is formatted FAT (ms-dos?)

Will it run? Yes. You are making some assumptions. There is a thread over on Lion forum and cloning OS back and forth is fine.
The recovery partition is optional .
OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
OS X Lion: "Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk (volume name)" appears during installation
    Partition Lion + Windows
    Look at coocooforcocoapuffs
Also, Paragon makes bootable clone drives for Windows (you just can't boot from it on a Mac without it being the internal drive). But that clone requires the entire drive, not just a partition. And not sure what you had in mind. Windows Easy Transfer is for data, not apps, not for Windows OS. But be that as it may.
Clone X 4 can do sector of an entire hard drive and all partitions. Or clone an HFS volume.
