Bootcamp and CAD

Does anyone have Bootcamp and CAD? I'm looking for a new Apple computer, but I'm really nervous about the problems I will encounter. I think that my CAD class is either using the 2008 or 2009 version. Oh and another question. Can you get the Mac Book Pro with Boot camp, or do you have to buy it? Please help.

There have been a few reports of the license for AutoCAD 2008 breaking, because of the time setting differences between Mac OS X and Windows.
Here is more detail.

I have resolved this issue by downloading the DST update for Windows XP.

  • How should I install/setup a single OS of windows 7 to run through bootcamp and parallels 7 on my new macbook pro?

I just bought a new macbook 8g ram and 750g harddrive and want to be able to run windows 7 through bootcamp and parallels. How do I setup that up and install a single version of windows (want to be able to utilize heavy programs - photoshop, 3D modeling CAD etc. - by installing them once and being able to use them through parallels 7 or bootcamp)? Please let me know of anything that may red flag by doing this and clear concise instructions of which to do first/ settings for bootcamp and parallels

BootCamp is directly booting your computer into Windows for full hardware access and performance, just like a PC. It's free from Apple.
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Virtual machine software (paid) like Parallels and VMFusion both can take the Bootcamped Windows and make a copy for use in OS X in a window at the same time as using OS X, but less performance. It's usualyl easiler to use.
A free virtual machine option is VirtualBox, but it might not have all the bells and whistles of the payware options above, but works just  fine.
We can't provide detailed installation instructions, it's too much, you will have to read Apple's instructions and the manual for your virtual machine software.

  • Bootcamp and windows 8(partition problem)

I am trying to install windows 8 and until now with no sucess. The instalation by the bootcamp runs smoothly, but when I boot from the USB, start the instalation process on windows and it asks me what partition I want to install the windows, I try to choose the Partition 4: BOOTCAMP and it doesn't work. It says it's a problem because the partition is EFI and for installing windows it can't be or something like that
And if I don't press the Alt button, when the bootcamp finishes the instalation and reboot the mac, it goes to a black screen where said that I don't have any boot devices connected and to connect one and press a key.

I believe you are supposed to format the partition labeled BOOTCAMP to NTFS from the installer. It is stated in the BootCamp suport guide.

How do I install windows 7 on a macbook pro mid 2009 using bootcamp and no optical drive?
My optical drive is non-functional and I want to dual boot with win7. The only problem is my macbook does not boot from USB at all, even when I hold th ALT key down when it is starting up.
-I have a flashdrive with win7 on it.
-I mounted the ISO of win7 with toast for bootcamp to do its thing.

    Good luck.
Consider this a bump so that hopefully someone with better news spots your thread.

What is the diffrence between SAP View and CAD View ?
What is the main purpose of SAP View
    and
What is the main purpose of CAD View
    On SAP help i found
SAP View is used for :The SAP view displays the SAP structure (document-based structure) for the active CAD object, or another document info record (header document), with a single-level or multilevel document structure in a tree structure. You can variably configure the fields using the layout editor.
CAD View is used for :The CAD view displays the document-based structure of the currently active CAD object, such as the structure of an assembly. The CAD system determines the complete (multilevel) structure and copies it either completely or in stages to the SAP system, in accordance with the default explosion level.
BUT I did not understand it well
Can someone explain this with an example
    THanks
    Raj

    Hello Raj,
SAP View  can be further described as the view that is based on what is existing already in the SAP system. This view is generally used by SAP purchasing, MM people etc
CAD view is nothing but the replication of the model tree view in the SAP system. This is used by the design engineer and this view replicates only the parts that are actively displayed on the CAD tool window.
hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions else please close the message.

  • I am trying to install windows on my mac via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available.

I am running OSX 10.6.8 Snow lepard I am trying to install windows on my intel imac 20in late 2006  via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation

  • UCCX 10 - running Finesse and CAD simulatenously

Cisco's documentation indicates that CAD and Finesse cannot be run at the same time and that one has to deploy/use either CAD or Finesse. However, the CAD service is never shut down when Finesse is activated and remains running. On my test server, I was able to have both, CAD and Finesse, running and have agents use both clients on the same server.
Is there any additional information that explains in more detail the impact of running CAD and/or Finesse and why they can't be run at the same time? Or if they are, what the side-effects and possible negative impacts?
After I have upgraded to UCCX 10, I would like to gradually switch users over to Finesse. But instead of forcing everyone to switch to Finesse at the same time, I would like to switch one department at a time so I can work out any issue with a small subset of users first. Does anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks.

    HI,
Pls see the below question and Answer from UCCX Chalk-Talk UCCX 10.
4:Since from UCCX 10 , we can only use either CAD or Finnesse at one time, whats the impact of changing this after some time in production, let say , i used CAD for 2 months and then i decided to move to Finesse, whats the impact ? or is it a smooth change as switching CUIC and HRC in previoius release ?
Ans.For the scenario you mentioned, there is absolutely no problem. The point to note is that the Finesse services are activated/deactivated but the CAD desktop services are ALWAYS running. The only condition to keep in mind is that you can use ONLY ONE type of agent desktop at any time. Also if Finesse is not used and CAD operations are used extensively, it is advisable to shutdown the Finesse service.

  • My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using.

My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using. I use a cheap Logitech Stereo Headset H130, but since there is only on audio plugin on the computer, I purchased a 3.5 mm 4-pin smartphone audio adapter thingy. That allowed me to put both my the sound coming to my headset & the microphone on my headset onto one wire. Everything worked wonderfully when running the Mac OS since they probably have support for that kind of stuff. The problem is though that once I try to use the same method in Windows 7, the OS doesn't recognize my headset microphone at all, but, instead when recording my voice decides to use the built-in mac microphone. Using this adapter still allows me to hear from my headset, but not use the microphone and that becomes a problem. It might be so that Windows 7 doesn't have support\drivers for that... How should I continue from here on out? Any advice?

From what I have read from others on here you may be out of luck. You would need the appropriate Windows drivers for the Cirrus chip in the Mac and no one has been able to successfully locate them. Apple wouldn't support this since Windows is an optional install.
Sorry to bring the bad news.

  • Can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?

I'm looking at getting an Intel iMac which will let me throw away my old PC - Yeah!
I will have a couple of Win apps that I will need to hang on to (Quicken - Quicken for Mac is horrible, but that's another tghread). Anyway, can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
My thought would be to allow my wife to access Quicken from Parallels and not have to reboot. She will only need lightweight access and the overhead of running virtualization wouldn't impact her. I, on the other hand, would want to occasionally boot natively into Windows and run the same application with the same datafile. Is this possible?
Thanks and looking forward to joining the MacIntel world!

Thanks for all of the freplies. I suspected that BootCamp and Parallels could not shar ethe same partition, but wanted to verify. To address some of the other posts:
Re: Quicken vs MoneyDance - I looked at MoneyDance a while back and while it is comparable to Quicken for Mac, it isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows (ergo, Quicken for Mac isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows!). But, as I said, that is a topic for another thread!
Re: Using Bootcamp/Parallels for only one app: I actually have several apps that I still need access to on Windows. I work with many business applications than only run/are supported on Windows as well as receive some complex Office documents which Office for Mac cannot handle. Quicken (for Windows 2007) was just the best example of a consumer app where I could see wanting access from both OS X and Windows.

  • Bootcamp and windows 7 home premium

I am planning on installing windows 7 home premium with bootcamp for my macbook pro retina display (mid2012) OSX 10.8.2
The question is which version will work?
I have looked on amazon and there is the normal version that was 199.99 and they droped to around 160 something
Then i see plenty of other version of windows 7 home premium that say "system builder DVD 1 pack" or OEM version and they are only $95-ish
I know that i dont want to buy the windows 7 upgrade i just want to install the OS on my mac..... The upgrade and that "system buidler" are both under $100 which makes me think that they are something else then the disks to install windows 7 home premium on my mac.
    Anyone know the differences?

I bought a Windows 7 home premium SP1 64-bit OEM software disk for $95.  I installed it onto my MacBook Pro using bootcamp and the install worked perfectly without any problems. During the install process you'll need to type in the product key that comes with the Win 7 disk. After the install was complete I clicked on "Activate Windows via internet" and after a second a message came back saying that Windows is now activated.
As others have mentioned, my install of Win 7 OEM is now married to this specific computer. I cannot install this OEM version onto another computer.  If you plan on replacing your mac in the near future buying the full retail version of Win 7 is a better bet since you can install the retail version onto a newer computer.
My MacBook Pro is brand new so I won't have a need to move the Win 7 to another computer. I hope this helps.

  • Bootcamp and WIndows 7 doesn't work

    Hi,
well I'm kinda freaking out. Since I installed a SSD myself into my Imac 21,5 inch, I had to replace the optical drive with the SSD. So now I had the prblem that I wasn't able to install Win 7 via Bootcamp since it doesn't support external DVD-Drives. After trying every solution provided on the internet I decided to open the Imac again, reinstall the optical drive, install windows 7 and replace the optical drive again. When installing Win 7 there was no problem, it booted and all worked fine. So I installed the bootcamp drivers for Win 7 and so on. And then, after reinstalling the SSD, Win suddenly was unable to boot. I get nothing but a black screen with a white blinking "_". I thought what the .... and came to the conclusion something went wrong. But before freaking out I had the idea to try VMware. After clicking on Bootcamp and clicking on start, it all worked. I was able to boot into Win 7, install updates and so on. So I guess nothings wrong with the installation. But what is it then? I can't figure it out and I would really hate  hate if I had to reopen my Imac because it really *****...
Well If anyone's able to come up with I solution I would really appreciate it!
    Thx in advance
    David
PS: All drivers are up to date!

I've been trying for a day and a half to get it to work on my 27". Ive swopped the superdrive for an SSD too.
I didn't realise that you couldn't install it from an external drive so i'll stop wasting my time with that one.
For the record I've tried to,
Make a bootable USB stick drive - didn't work
Make a bootable Hard Drive - didn't work
I'm going to swop the HD for the optical drive and try to install it on to the SSD. Then i'll take the CD drive out and replace the Hard drive. See how that goes!
    I'll keep you updated...
David... Did you sort your problem? if so how?
    Thanks

  • Bootcamp  and Windows Updates

    Hello,
I am new to Bootcamp and have Windows 7.0 Basic edition loaded on a partition and everything works just fine. There is an issue which I don't know if there is a workaround for.
The default boot is OSX, and I usually get to Bootcamp by restarting the computer. And occasionally it looks like Windows wants to update and eventually restart the computer.
Problem is that if you forget about OSx being your default boot and miss pressing that Option key while Mac is coming up then you wind up havving to restart again.
Isn't there a way for the system to know that it is restarting to take care of an update and temporarily go directly to the os that requested the restart?
    Thanks
    Farzad

Install. Though might want to check on Intel graphics, you can always rollback. Also system restore check points. And make a restore system image at some point too.
you want and you need the "patch Tuesday" each month.
And you need a good security program of course, whether MS Security Essentials or something else.

You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
    There may be (an)other way(s).
    Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.
Hopefully yours will after you talk to it awhile.
    Good luck & happy computing!
