Bootcamp and OSX showing different Partitions

I had just restored from a backed up system image of Bootcamp. Previously, my bootcamp partition size was about 120+gig and my osx had everything else of 750g. Before I did a system restore, I removed Windows 7 using bootcamp assistant and then created a new one with 450g for bootcamp and 250+g for osx. I installed windows 7 like how I did before and did a system image restore when it was done. Now on the system recovery screen it asked to exclude disk for partition and I tried to exclude my single drive but I got an error saying I can't exclude the disk that backup was going to use so I just continued without excluding it.
I got to restore without any problems but when I opened "My Computer" I saw that the disk size was from my old bootcamp. When I checked OSX it was showing that the partition of 450g and 250g were intact except that the bootcamp drive is now "Untitled" rather than it saying Bootcamp.
Here's the link to the screenshots:

IMPORTANT:
When I was browsing from OSX to my bootcamp drive, I found out that the files on the drive were from the fresh install. There was no hint that I had restored my old system.
Logging in my Windows to post the screenshot of Disk Management.

It more like I don't know the process to resolve it. I have a back up of osx and windows image, Winclone only allows its own backup unless theres a way to include my winows image on their options. Once that's resolve I can probably buy camptune or just use Winclones method.
I had already bought winclone and I have already sent them an email regarding the issue of my windows image.
The different partitions on both OS is really boggling me though, and what makes it even more complicated is that the "Untitled" partition in Mountain Lion shows the contents of a fresh install not currently bootable and working windows.

  • Software inventory report and PC show different information

    Hi,
    The scenario is the following:
    SCCM 2012 R2.
    Clients with windows 8.
The report "Software registered in Add Remove Programs on a specific computer" and "Programs and Features" show different information.
Programs and features screenshot(ordered by name):
    Report screenshot (ordered by name):
    The question is:
    Is the above normal behavior?
    if not
How to get in the report "Software registered in Add Remove Programs on a specific computer" all of the software listed in "Programs and Features"?
    Thanks in advance!

Take a look at that device in Resource Explorer.  Notice that on a 64-bit device there is an 'Installed Applications' class and and 'Installed Applications (64)' class.  This data comes from the registry, and on a 64-bit operating system there
are actually two separate 'Add/Remove Programs' lists that are aggregated in the OS user interface.
If in Resource Explorer you see all of the software you expect to see, but not in the report, it is likely because the report is only looking at the 'Installed Applications' class and and not 'Installed Applications (64)' class.
If you enable the 'Installed Software' class (either by going into the client settings or the AI node), you will notice that the 'Installed Software' class is a combined version of both the 32-bit and 64-bit applications.  This is much easier to report
    off of.
    I hope that helps,

  • IMac 27" (late 2011), Mountain Lion, Bootcamp, and OSX partition disappearing and refusing to mount

    Hey all,
I'm putting this as a question in the discussion forms for bootcamp as I'm not sure where else to put it, but I resolved an issue I was having and having spent all of yesterday and the day before reading through this community and some others looking for answers and mostly seeing "hope you have backups, time to format!" (which to me is not always the best answer), I thought I would put it here for search purposes (with all the key words I had to use) in case anyone else has a similar issue.
    My scenario was this:
2011 27" iMac with Mountain Lion installed and Windows 7 installed on a boot camp partition.
    1) Haven't been in windows in a while, wanted to play some windows only steam games. Load windows 7. All is well. Have fun. Time to reboot into osx.
    2) Reboot using bootcamp toolbar icon.
    3) Wander away from computer. Come back to find windows 7 has loaded again. "That's weird", I think. Reboot again, this time hold down option key to select boot device.
    4) Discover the only options are the Bootcamp partition and the Recovery partition. OSX "Macintosh HD" partition has disappeared. Huh.
    5) Load recovery partition and load disk utility.
    6) Review disk utility to discover the Macintosh HD partition shows up in the list, but won't mount. Run verify and repair tools. Errors are as follows: Invalid node structure, invalid key length, invalid record count, etc etc. Running a repair fails - disk utility advises me to back up and erase the drive and that the partition is unrepairable. No offense disk utility, but I think I'll try a few more options first.
    7) Purchase DiskWarrior on advice of multiple posters in other threads and general online consensus of it being capable of fixing these sorts of errors. Go through process of loading bootable dvd.
    8) Diskwarrior cannot see the Macintosh HD partition. This is bad. Review more threads. Advice is that if diskwarrior can't fix it, hope you have backups and wipe the drive. Likely to be hardware failure. I'm skeptical of hardware failure, because windows is chugging along running fine if I boot into it, and I ran a scan of the windows partition and it came back clean. SMART status is also showing the drive is ok. However, running out of options and starting to lose hope.
    9) Follow advice in this support topic: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417?viewlocale=de_de Both safe mode and disk utility aren't options (safe mode won't work without it seeing the partition) so sounds like fsck is the final option.
    10) Start up in Single User Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492). Run fsck per instructions. It reports back ok.
    11) Realize fsck is checking the recovery partition, and not my damaged OSX partition. Realize I don't know anything about unix commands and have no idea how to tell fsck to check a different partition.
    12) Learn that I need to find out what the drive id is for the damaged partition. Reboot, load up disk utility, select greyed out "macintosh HD" partition, click info. Write down the id: disk0s2 (likely to be the default for you as well if you have one drive in your imac and a default bootcamp install).
    13) Go back into single user mode and type the following (without quotes): "fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk0s2"
    14) (Forgot to copy down exactly what it said at this point, but gist of it was that the drive had errors and isnt repairable). Feel like ****, thinking this is unlikely to resolve itself nicely.
    15) With nothing to lose, try to force fsck to rebuild the catalog - "fsck_hfs -rc -d /dev/disk0s2" I found this syntax on some forums and can't find the thread again. I have no idea what the -rc and -d do that -fy don't, but if someone can let me know, that'd be cool. Either way, this resulted in something actually happening. Tells me it is "rebuilding catalogue b-tree". Still, finishes with a bunch of errors about improperly linked files, more node errors, etc etc.
    16) Retry "fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk0s2". It seems to be doing stuff now, even though there are lots of errors. Continue to re-run fsck using this syntax. Probably ran it 10-15 times. Takes over an hour. Finally, minimal errors being reported.
    17) Realize that perhaps I should try Diskwarrior again now, since I've managed to do soemthing to the partition with fsck.
    18) Run Diskwarrior from bootable DVD. Success! It now sees the damaged partition. Reports that it has a bunch of damaged crtitical files, and needs to be repaired, but hey, at least it can see it.
    19) Let Diskwarrior do its thing, and reboot.
    20) Boot from repaired OSX partition. Rejoice. Immediately plug back in the timemachine drive you foolishly unplugged to take away over the holidays and neglected to plug back in before you had commenced work on stuff you didnt want to lose through formatting, which is why you are so desperate to recover files rather than wiping and restoring from time machine backups and avoiding this whole mess.
TL;DR - If Disk Utility and DriveWarrior fail you, try running fsck (using different syntax that apple recommends) as many times as it takes to get the partition to a stage where diskwarrior can see it. All advice I saw for similar questions was to erase, reinstall OSX, and restore from time machine backup. For those of you who are foolish like me and had files that werent time machine'd, or those who operate without, maybe try this.
    Hope this helps!

    What -rc & -d do.
    From: The fsck_hfs manual page.
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages /man8/fsck_hfs.8.html
-d      Display debugging information.  This option may provide useful information when fsck_hfs cannot repair a damaged file system.
-r      Rebuild the catalog btree.  This is synonymous with -Rc.
-R flags Rebuilds the requested btree.  The following flags are supported:
                             a       Attribute btree
                             c       Catalog btree
                             e       Extents overflow btree
I had the same problem as you but unfortunately "fsck_hfs -rc -d /dev/disk0s2" is failing saying: "The volume   could not be verified completely." I believe it's supposed to be telling me the partition's name (normally "Macintosh HD") between 'volume' and 'could' because there's 3 spaces in between the words.
"fsck_hfs -fy /dev/disk0s2" is failing with the same error.
I tried "fsck_hfs -r -d /dev/disk0s2" since the c appears redundant with a lowercase R. and it again says it cannot be verified completely and adds "volume check failed with error 7". Which unfortunately is not documented on the fsck_hfs man page!
Unfortunately for me, Diskwarrior still can't see my busted Mac OS partition.

  • Bootcamp(and OSX Disk Utility) Will Not Create Partitions

    Hello all,
I am trying to install Windows 7 on my Mac via Bootcamp assistant, every time i try to partition it fails at around 1/3 of the way through, saying "Some files cannit be moved". I have also tried to install manually using Disk Utility and booting into that partition for install, but again the partition fails, this time saying "Partition cannot be resized".
In terms of trying to fix this, i have used iDefrag to defragement the hard drive, backed up, formatted and restored the hard drive from the install disks, repaired the disk from the install disks and spent hours looking on the web. Is a complete reinstall what is necessary here?
NB - I have tried all these on both my Macs and the same result each time, so i'd say it has to be OS related(im running the latest version of Snow Lepard of both)
    Thanks

And what computers are you trying to do this on? Model/year, etc, would be very helpfull.

That means there are files that aren't allowed to be moved that are in the way of the new install. You have to defrag the whole HD or backup your files and erase/reformat the whole HD in order to fix it. With you using iDefrag it should have fixed that problem. Did you defrag it from another HD or from the DVD as some defrag utilitys won't work right if you do it from the start up disk.

Not sure what you mean by "tried to install manually............"  Disk Utility (BC Assistant) has to be the one to partition it first. The W7 installer will the do the formatting, NTSF, fat32, etc,.
Partition cannot be resized is a problem that crops up some times for what ever reason and I'm not sure of the fix for that, usually an erase/format is the only way to fix it. Again, Disk Utility has to be the one to change the partition scheme. Larger or smaller, and it's fairly dangerous to change the size of a partition after the fact.

    Not exactly sure here either?
Did you do the WHOLE hd, completely erased then formatted it back to ONE partition? Then have Boot Camp Assistant repartition it for the Windows install?
Is a complete reinstall what is necessary here?
Isnt that what you just did?
I would just back-up your files to another HD and just start all over.
Erase the WHOLE drive, partition as ONE whole section, format it, install 10.6x again, update everything first, then have Boot Camp Assistant start the whole process again and it should be fine.
Make sure you leave enough room for Windows to grow so you don't have to do this again. The last game I installed was 8 gigs, if you add another 5 games that are around 5 gigs each then you just added 33 gigs with just a few games installed, not counting the size of the saves, etc. A 50 gig Windows partition isn't goiung to last very long.

  • Mac and Windows showing different hard drive space remaining?

    Hello Guys,
I am using my 1tb hard drive with mac and windows and while checking the space remaining, my mac says roughly 600gb left and my windows comp. says about 500gb left. I am just wondering which one of the storage remaining statements is correct and why they both show different numbers (by 100gb)? If it helps, this also happens to my 16gb flash drive. mac says 10 gb left, and windows says less space left (dont remember actual number, but was roughly 6-8).
Just asking becuase I want to know why such a big difference in size remaining. Could it have to do with the way each OS sees what defines the harddrive as full?
if it matters, my hdd format is MS-DOS (FAT32).
    Thanks a lot,
    krm1897

haha its been 2 years. And no, i didn't figure it out, but i speculate it may have to do how Mac OSX and Windows reads the FAT file system (my tb hdd was FAT formatted so i could use it on both OS) and calculates remaining space.
That may be right, or it may be completely wrong lol

  • ODS and Infocube showing different results

    Hi,
I loaded same data to Infocube and ODS but they are both showing different result in BEX.
    ODS
ODS report is showing summarised values e.g
vendor               order value                   invoice value        date
    00001                    20                               20                 01.01.2007
    Infocube
result is showing not summarised values
vendor               order value                   invoice value        date
    00001                    20                                 0                      0
                                  0                                20                  01.01.2007
I would like to make the infocube result same as the ODS because I am remodelling so that we start reporting from Infocube rather than ODS.
    thanks

    Hi,
    this is the scenario
currently we are reporting from ODS object which fetch data from 3 ODSes. now I am asked to remodel so that we can report from infocube not ODS.
steps I have taken so far.
    - created new infocube
    - created 3 update rules ( same Update rules that gives the reporting ODS data).
my target is to make sure that the current ODS  report is the same as the infocube report but so far the report is not consistent
I compared the data in the ODS and infocube and they are exactly the same but the report is showing differently

  • Dba_index_name and dba_ind_columns showing different results

    Hi All,
I am confused why it is showing different results:

    INDEX_NAME
    CRBTPROV_INDX1
    [email protected]#>select index_name from dba_IND_COLUMNS where table_name='CRBTPROV_FINAL';
    INDEX_NAME

    MSISDN_IDX
When trying to drop index MSISDN_IDX it gives error:
    ERROR at line 1:

But when trying to check where all the index is used using v$access:
    select * from v$access where object='MSISDN_IDX';
    no rows selected

If I run the following query on a 9.2.0.6 database, no index is listed:
select type, count(*) from v$access group by type;CURSOR
    FUNCTION
    NON-EXISTENT
    PACKAGE
    SEQUENCE

It seems that index is not taken into account by v$access ?

  • Count and Sum show different in Summary tab

    Hello friends,
    Webi 4 version
I have a webi dcument with 4 report tabs. Summary, Expense,Revenue and Forecasting.
I have a SUM value in Expense tab and Revenue tab. I also have Count value in Forecasing. When I copy these SUM and Count values to Summary tab, they show different values than those in other tabs.
Please help me to resolve this
    Thanks
    Renpal

    Hi Renpal,
Even if we write the aggregate values in to a variable and if you copy that variable in Summary tab it may not give the same result. For Example.
If count of Sales orders in Detail tab is showing as 500 and in Summary tab it may show as 489. This is because in Detail tab there might be some cells which are "#" or Not assigned. so due to granularity it will count each and every cell, incase of summary all # or Not Assigned are calculated as 1.
Can you check wrt the above example where exactly the data is not matching.

  • Mac, iPad and iPhone show different iCloud Drive content

I'm getting mad about iCloud drive.
For hours I try to get all my devices in sync. But they all show different content. In Finder I can see only 4 app folders containing the documents (actually pages, keynote, numbers and pdfexpert). Browsing the iCloud drive on the iPad for example using the pages app I can also see a GoodReader folder and some more. Some of them are empty folders (maybe empty folders are hidden on mac by default?) but some of them contain folders and files which obviously won't download to my Mac.
There are also some folders related to apps I removed from all my devices. It's ok if these app's iCloud folders stay in the cloud if they contain any documents but they stay there even if they are empty and there seems to be no way to remove these folders manually (even the web interface of iCloud greys out the trash when such a folder is selected).
When I use OS X Preferences to remove some old app's iCloud content I can do this for some of them but then (all of a sudden - can be after two of ten removals) the list on the left side shows only "Backups" (or sometimes "Backups" and an unspecific "Documents") and you have to close the Preferences and reopen it a little later to see the complete list again. And showing the app icons seems to be a problem too (including the iPad / iPhone preferences -> iCloud) - some of them are shown, for some of them there are only placeholders.
Am I doing it wrong or are these common problems?

Same problem here – specifically, the CONTENTS of "iCloud Drive" are different when accessed:
    A) in the Finder on Yosemite
    B) on the web at iCloud.com
    C) on an iOS device
The MAJOR problem for me is that my Goodreader folder only shows up on the iOS device, making it impossible for me to access my Goodreader files. This is a huge issue for me as my workflow depends on having access to those files.
In general, however, it's ridiculous that you can copy data to iCloud Drive on your iOS device and then you cannot read that data anywhere else.

  • Mozilla and IE show different applications referencing the same URL

Hi, I have a very strange problem.
I deployed a web app, using Sun App Server 9, directly from a directory of the server. Then I made some changes and redeployed the application. But IE still showing me the app before the changes, and Mozilla shows me the application after the changes.

    I solved this problem,
The two browsers showed the same jsp's, but different non jsp files, such as js, and css. I only had to refresh the page.

  • Resource and Scheduler from different partitions

    Hi All,
I met an impossibility when I try to affect a resource that is from a distinct partition than the scheduler (I want to attach to): the listbox of partition choice is limited to 'SYSJCS' in Scheduler window form.
That might be related to any right and privileges, but I cannot find the ones that are involved.
    Can someone help me ?
    Thanks,
    Yi Jiang

    Hello Anton,
I am using the user SYSJCS. Your remark is relevant but I can see both the objects (schedulers and resources whatever the partition they belong to) and partitions.
Maybe there is something to do with the privileges of my second partition (which is not associated to an Redwood user).

    Yi Jiang

  • [SOLVED] mount command and fstab show different file systems

I recently setup my /etc/fstab to mount by LABEL.
      LABEL=ArchLinux        /    ext2    rw,noatime,errors=continue    0    0
      LABEL=Data30GB        /data    ext2    rw,noatime            0    0
When I reboot, these two drives work fine. But I run the "mount" command and it shows:
      /dev/disk/by-uuid/8fac6ab0-3d40-4676-bf30-b23c482b47b9 on / type ext2 (rw,noatime,errors=continue)
      /dev/sdb1 on /data type ext2 (rw,noatime)
I'm curious, why does mount not list things by how the fstab shows them? By the way, I have other drives labeled and mounted by label and it shows the device (i.e. /dev/sdd1) instead of the LABEL as fstab shows on those as well.
    Anyone know why?

LABEL= and UUID= aren't something the kernel understands -- they're tags interpreted by blkid that resolve to a device, e.g.:
    $ blkid -lt LABEL=root -o device
    /dev/sda2
This functionality is provided by util-linux's libblkid, which /bin/mount links against. In other words, that syntax in /etc/fstab is just a convenience feature.

  • Why do my MacAir and iPhone show different times?

I have a MacAir running OSX Yosemite. I also have an iPhone 6. I get both to update the times shown on their clocks automatically. Last month, there was a 2 minute difference between the two; now there is a 3 minute difference. (the MacAir is always ahead) This might sound like a tiny issue but I use my MacAir for presentations and have my phone showing the time fullscreen too - to ensure I keep exactly to time. So it's quite off-putting to have two different times showing.
Any idea how I can get them in synch with each other?
    Many thanks!
