Bootcamp and XP-How much room?

Question for everyone. I just got a new macbook and was considering installing bootcamp and windows xp. I don't really need it but was curious. I have a 80Gig hard drive and have about 55 left. How much hard drive space do these two take with associated files? For those that have it installed, what is the typical XP drive partition size and how much room do you have left for other programs?
It looks like boot camp installs XP without formatting so it would be pretty painless other than the cost for XP. Thanks for replies.

How much room should be partitioned for Windows XP?

Alright, I have a different install disc for XP with SP3 which should work. Since I'll only be using XP for a couple of things (mainly small programs, but also for office and such), how much room should I leave for XP on my 320 gig HD so that both OSs have some breathing room (most of my other stuff like music and pictures are on the Leopard side of things)?

But I hear that it has better compatibility to run FAT32 than NTFS. Does it really matter too much?
While OSX is able to read and write to FAT32 partition, it can only read from NTFS partitions.
With the help of apps like NTFS-3G http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ and/or NTFS for Mac http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ OSX can also write to NTFS partitions.
To me personally this is no problem, since I want OSX and Windows to seperated (I even have Windows on a harddisk of its own in my Mac Pro) and for file exchange between OSX and Windows I use an external FAT32 HD.
But the advantage of the newer, better and more robust NTFS file system outweighs these 'disadvantages'.
And FAT32 has a file-size limitation for single-files of 4GB.
Also, not to be pessimistic, but what if something goes wrong with the partition or install? Can I restart my Mac and would it be unaffected? This disc should work, but I want to know just in case...
Before 'fumbling' with any kind of partitioning on a harddisk I always make a backup of my important files, or better said I use SuperDuper to make a bootable clone of my OSX.
While the chances that something goes wrong are quite slim (I have made the partitioning with the BootCamp Assistant for about 10 times now), the possibility is always there.

I had an important app. (Memos by bluemarblesoftware.com) that I accidentally deleted. It of course had many memos, some with quite a lot of information. I did sync my phone on a regular basis and I think the memos should be on the desktop computer. I tried to do a restore function but I got a message saying there was not enough room on the iPhone. generally you need 1.90gb
what you can do is back up your phone to your computer before doing the update, just as a precaution.

"Other" contains documents and app data associated with apps. It can also contain things like stored emails and browser history. It's usually around 1-2gigs. If it's any more than that, there's a chance that you have corrupted data on your iPad. The only way to fix that problem is to restore your iPad to factory settings and start anew.

The home owner's policy may so give it a shoot.
The apple warranty which only covers material defects does not cover abuse which is what Apple will classiy dropping it as.

Actually there might be a way I am not sure how much accurate that would be but. Lakshman you can run dbcc checkdb repair_allow_data_loss with begin transaction and commit transaction

dbcc checkdb('db_name', REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)
--Commit--Rollback
Before giving rollback you can check how much data you would loose. Dont give commit. A more better approach would be take backup of database with continue_after_error( I know this might and might not work, just giving you options) restore on different
server with again continue_after_error and then run repair allow data loss there and see how much data you would loose. Also not constraints would also be removed after doing repair

Your contract is with your service provider - it has nothing at all to do with Apple.
You can buy a contract free and/or unlocked iPhone from Apple and use it with whatever carrier you wish. Your contract terms with your current service provider remain in effect for your iPhone 4s though, so if you cancel with them (or port your number out, which accomplishes the same thing) you will owe them early termination fees and so forth.
Even if you pay full retail but want to use the phone with your current service provider, you are still obligated to complete the terms of your existing contract.

This is one instance where you'll curse yourself for not having bought the AppleCare Warranty extension and gotten the board for free.
Anyway, get your model number handy and go look up the parts in www.powerbookmedic.com or www.ifixit.com amongst other places. They've also have videos or photo pictorials on how to do the replacement. Not altogether trivial, be sure to spread the adequate amount of thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, else you'll fry the new board in short order again.

If you buy a 16gb iPhone 5s, how much room is actually left for storage after ios7 and all the basic applications are installed?

On my iPod i only had 8gb and was happy with it, i never managed to fill it up. However, I've heard that the room left for iPhones(I'm looking at the 16gb one in particular) is small because of how much there is on them in comparison to iPods.

It isn't just the OS and preinstalled apps (and there are more of them on the iPhone 5s) it is the way drive space is counted by the OS. You should have about 13.1 to 13.5 GB.

I have my iPod touch four since black Friday; November. It's been acting weird lately.
It's randomly crashing. On my photos on videos an none of my friends experience that.

I would take it to an Apple store, if it's deemed defective you will receive a new one.
Before this make sure you try to reboot, reset, restore
As for the app, you can reload purchases from the cloud but it you should be syncing to iTunes. Also backup your device.

Sorry to disagree mende1. In this age of email attachments and social networks, it is actually a good idea to have a good antivirus on your system. {I realize that this is a religious argument and I will say no more}. With that said, the general concensus is that Norton AV is terrible. It is intrusive and uses up a lot of cycles.
There are a lot of better AV clients out there. I use ClamXav which is free and uses the clamav antivirus that is open source.
