Bootcamp Assistant 5.0 - Driver download feature

Hello,
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and I was wondering about the driver download feature in Boocamp 5.0. As far I can remember, this function would not work in mid 2010 MacBook Pros.
Has this issue been fixed in the latest Bootcamp Assistant version found in Mountain Lion?

If you already have bootcamped Windows from Lion, the Setup.exe and the Drivers Folder whose contents are installed by Setup.exe, in both Bootcamp 4 & 5 have the same date and are the same size so you do not need to get drivers or run Bootcamp 5.

Bootcamp Assistant - Network error when downloading.

Hi, guys i'm kind of ****** today since I tried everything.
I plug my 8GB USB into my mac, and follow the steps on Bootcamp.
When it's extracting the files to my mac it's showing after a few minutes of waiting a error.
I looked up on the internet, and they said I should disable my proxy.
Which already is disabled, so i, trying to enable it and disable it again.
Restarted my computer and Bootcamp.
Nothing worked, and I want to have Windows 7 on my pc ASAP.
I have a Macbook Air 11" i5 1.4 GHz 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD.
Please I need to have it today it's so important!

I can't finish the steps because Windows won't install. I don't have a DVD to install from, just an ISO which forces me to go through the download drivers portion of boot camp.
• The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it, if it is not automatically uncompressed.
• Double-click the Boot Camp5 folder.
• Copy the entire contents of the .zip file to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system
• When running Windows, locate the Boot Camp folder on the USB media you created in Step 3 and double click to open it.
• Double click on setup to start installing the Boot Camp Support Software.
• When prompted to allow changes, click on Yes and follow the onscreen instructions.
• Installation can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. When installation is complete, click Finish in the dialog that appears.
• A system restart dialog box appears. Click Yes to complete the installation.

The guide to bootcamp assistant states that bootcamp can only be installed on a drive with a single partition. New Macs with Lion preinstalled have two partitions - the second is a recovery partition. How do I install Bootcamp?

Late in August 2011 I took delivery of a new 27" iMac with Lion preinstalled. I need to run Windows as well. Following Apple's written suggestion, I printed off the then current 12 pages of the document "Bootcamp Installation & Setup Guide" which clearly stated that the hard drive you were going to install on had to have on it, before install, a maximum of one partition. Using finder and disk utility I determined that there was only one partition. Unbeknownst to me, there was (is) an additional hidden (from those two pieces of software) partition on the disk. As of machines delivered new with Lion preinstalled, Apple has begun to include a "recovery partition". In that partition there is a copy of the software necessary to reinstall Lion via a download from the Apple App Store. Not knowing the partition was there, I cranked up "Bootcamp Assistant" which nicely offered to repartition my hard drive creating a "Bootcamp Partition" in addition to the existing. I told it how big to make each and hit the do it button, subsequently destroying my operating system. Oh, it very nicely told me, after the damage was done, how many partitions were REALLY on the disk and that I could not install Bootcamp cause there were too many partitions.
Luckily the the Recovery Partition, which at that point I knew existed, was not harmed and after doing some research on another compter, I used it to once again download Lion from the App Store and reinstall. So, I have recovered but am still stuck with the problem: how do I install Bootcamp in this new environment?

First you need to seriously back up your Mac.
A clone is an exact duplicate of your existing Mac HDD. Merely copying and pasting a drive will not make a bootable backup. In case of problems you can boot from an Ext HDD clone and use the utilities to repair, reformat, or clone the Ext HDD back to the internal Mac HDD. While Time machine back ups are easy you can not boot from it. The best thing to have for any kind of problem is a bootable clone backup on an external drive. Some even have two external backup drives in case one fails. There are two good apps for cloning named SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner.
In dealing with the recovery partition a simple approach is to clone the Mac partition to an external disk then re-partition the Mac to a single partition (GUID partition table) . Then clone the external disk clone back to the Mac. You will now have only one Partition and Boot Camp assistant sould not object.
Some have recommended getting rid of the recovery partition while others have advised not to do this. If you have the Lion USB Thumb Drive you do not need a recovery partition so can discard it without concern. There is another way to get rid of the recovery partition if you decide to do it but first be sure to have a backup of your Mac ( I know I sound like a nagging mom but many dead computers have been saved by this simple precaution).
Use Disk Utility.
1) Make the Recovery visible in Disk Utility by using a program like Secrets:http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27025/secrets or MacPilot:http://www.koingosw.com/products/macpilot.php (15 day free trial).
2) Highlite the Recovery partition and Control click it and select Mount the partition.
3) With the Recovery partition highlited, erase the partition, you'll get an error message, ignore it.
4) Now highlite the top identity of the hard drive and select the partition tab.
5) Highlite the Recovery partition and press the minus sign.
6) Click and hold on the bottom edge of the partition above and drag it to the bottom, if it doesn't go there automatically, the press apply.

I'm trying to dual boot Lion and Wind 7 on different HD but when I ran the bootcamp assistance for software update I get an error that it can't download from the server.
I also try without downloading the software and do the installation but it fail. It seem that this bootcamp is giving problem so I revert back to SN leopard and it does the same. Why can't the bootcamp assistance update the software, is it something that I did wrong or my system is not supporting dual booting.
Here is my spec
Apple Mac Pro "Quad Core" 2.66

MacPro1,1 has EFI32 and does not support Windows 7 very well, can't boot 64-bit, can't use all your RAM.
There have always been trouble and issues, ways around those, but a big PITA too.

Nothing to do with Lion actually. Other than downloading drivers from Apple servers has been mostly hit or miss, with miss being 90%.
I have rebuned the DVD (make a new ISO image using Imgburn etc) but now I just install Windows on PC then move the drive to the Mac. A lot easier.
Without 64-bit you can't use more than 1.9GB RAM. And you need Windows 7 Pro to use both processors.

I am using BootCamp Assistant 4.0.1 and I keep getting errors while trying to download the Windows support software. I keep getting errors that says the software is not on the server or that there was just an error saving and it stops. Any help please!! I am using a MacBook pro with the new Lion OS

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

How to install Windows 7 on 2010 MacBook Air with Lion - Bootcamp Assistant 4.0.1 from USB drive?

I want to install Windows 7 on my 2010 MacBook Air running Lion - Bootcamp Assistand 4.0.1 from a USB drive. I've done this in the past when I was running Snow Leopard and the process was rather easy but now Lion updated the Bootcamp Assistant so i'm no longer able to create a MBR partition without a Super Drive installed. Does anybody managed to do that? Thank you.

Bootcamp Assistant: Downloading Windows support software... STUCK.

I've been trying for 2 days to get Bootcamp Assistant to run on my iMac 5K, and every time I've tried I get to "Downloading Windows support software..." and it just stalls. I even left it over night in hopes maybe it would advance some how, but nothing at all, just stuck at maybe 10%,
Anybody else get past this? I see tons of people having installed Bootcamp already, how the **** did you manage it when you can't get appropriate drivers or software?

Wireless or wired doesn't matter (have tried both).
I've got a 150mbit down connection, which I've routinely run speed tests and other things since setting up the machine. So I'm going to assume the connection isn't the issue.

BootCamp Assistant Error : Your bootable USB drive could not be created. "An error occurred while formatting the disk."

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate .iso file saved onto a "Mac OS Extended (Journal)" formatted USB flash drive. I am trying to install it with BootCamp Assistant and I keep getting the error message : Your bootable USB drive could not be created. "An error occurred while formatting the disk."
I have previously installed Windows 7 on my Mac (and it worked flawlessly - same .iso file), but I uninstalled it because I didn't partition enough space on my hard drive. I have used several flash drive to try and install and none have worked.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.

The proxy setting is an issue for some, System Preferences/ Network/ Advanced/ Proxies/ make sure everything is UNchecked.
The Apple server is extremely slow and unreliable for some people so it's just a matter of retrying a few more times.

Bootcamp driver download failure

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro (9,1) and since this one is replacing both my old mbp and dell pc, I need to install Windows via boot camp. The boot camp downloader fails to complete. After many hours it just sits on around 25% with no progress. (Why didn't they just include the drivers on my mbp like they did before? Seems like a silly decision to force people to download it.)
My question is: where can I download the pkg manually? I can then do this on my Windows machine and get the drivers across to the new Mac. I found a blog post that seems very complicated, involving reading xml files and trying multiple urls in that file until you get lucky. There must be a better way, since I see many people complain about the driver download that doesn't work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Read the hundreds of similar posts to yours. You must be patient. The download servers are notoriously slow. Try again. There is no other way to get the Windows Support Software.

How do I install bootcamp on the new drive that I installed with the dvd drive adapter

Hello, I have a macbook pro mid 2012 13 inch, I have just earned some money, enough to buy a SSD, and I happily went to the store and bought a samsung evo 840 120gb SSD. My plan was to clean install windows 8.1 on the SSD, I already had bootcamp on the 500GB HDD with windows 8 that came with the mac, so I backed up the important files from the windows partition. I deleted the partition, and restored it to the mac's partition (which I was going to partition again after the windows installation is complete for the storage for my windows partition) I made a installation usb with the iso I have made with bootcamp assistant, and waited. After that was done I restarted my computer holding the option key, then I booted into the EFI boot partition, and went through the process, entered the serial key, and agreed the thing, and then when I did the format it said it couldn't do it, so I took it out put it in an external hard-drive case, then I plugged it into my windows 8 laptop, then I opened command prompt, then I typed "diskpart", then after the administrator thing popped up, I clicked yes, then in the diskpart prompt, I typed in "list disk", and my SSD was disk 1, so I did "select disk 1" then I typed "clean" Then I went into the drive manager, then a thing popped up saying which one would I choose between MBR or GPT so I selected GPT, then made a new NTFS partition on the SSD, then took it out, then I popped it back in then went through the installation, until the actual installing part where after copying files is done, this pops up "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x8007045D" So I downloaded a torrent because I had thought that this was corrupted, and downloaded a torrent from a website, and downloaded the iso, and I tried and the same error, again and again of taking out the drive from my computer to format it and putting it back in again (since there was some files made on the SSD) so I had decided that I would download a windows 8 torrent, then I did then it couldn't even start, so I want to install windows 8.1 on my macbook pro, on a separate drive in the the DVD cage (not external, internal), would there be any way to do it, please help!

Mic won't work with Skype on Windows installed using BootCamp Assistant?

I recently purchased a 17" MacBook Pro in Australia. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and updates as well using BootCamp Assistant. Everything works fine in Windows except when I downloaded and logged in to Skype and video-called one of my friends.
I could see my friend and he could see me, but we couldn't hear each other. I beleive there is a problem with the built-in mic, which Windows doesn't recognize or doesn't have the driver for it installed. If it's a driver problem, can anyone tell me which specific driver to download? It'd make things so much easier!

Did you download and install the drivers? You need to download the drivers then install them from within Windows. See the Boot Camp Installation Guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
Also search these forums for links to the audio drivers from the manufacturers's site.
