Bootcamp Assistant fails - manually installing support software not an option
Bootcamp Assistant fails when it gets to the downloading support software stage.
I've seen other messages here saying there's a workaround that means manually downloading and installiing the support software. This doesn't work for me as the option to NOT automatically download and install the software is greyed out in Bootcamp Assistant. Why is that? Can I change it? If not are there other workarounds?
Thank so much for your response. In reply I should say that erasing the Macintosh HD partition (using the disk utility application - Photo Below) and re-installing the OS X wasn't any help.
I also would like to clarify my understanding of your first paragraph, if you suggested that the issue could be related to my superdrive? Also would like to ask for further instruction on creating a thumb drive .
In the end I would like to thank you for your advice on the required partition size for windows installation.

Every time I run this I get the above error after I hit "Continue" on the "Save Windows Support Software" page and subsequently hit "Download Windows 7 Support Software."

Thank you!Waited a month and tried again with the same result. What gives? Does Apple no longer support Bootcamp with Windows 7? Do they not read these posts and help out customers? If Apple doesn't care and won't help, can anyone else suggest something? My large company does not like Apple and barely supports those of us who buck the trend and buy Macs. If I have to buy a PC to support their software to work from home this only gives them more "ammunition" to decline to support Macs. Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

I can’t install Windows 8.1 because the Bootcamp Assistant-partitioned disk is GBT and not MBR, and attempting to format the bootcamp disk does nothing. I have read up on this issue, and the only solution seems to be to make a backup of my computer and reformat all disks via 8.1 setup terminal. I REALLY do not want to do that, is there any way to fix this? I’m on OS X Yosemite, if that pertains to the thread.
Interesting. It wouldn’t install because I had FileVault enabled. Huh. Disabling it saved the day.

Bootcamp assistant fails to launch. Tells me I need to update my firmware. But I have already upgraded the firmware! Trying to run the SMC firmware updater again does not let me proceed because... the mac is already updated!

All updates up until 6/8/06 installed, permissions checked.
Also, Parallels Desktop RC2 does not recognize the CD/DVD-ROM drive (error message says it cannot read data from it) and therefore cannot proceed with Windows XP SP2 Installation. The drive works flawlessly with all other apps.
A FileMaker Pro-based runtime accounting solution installs but unexpectedly quits the nanosecond after I double-click to open it.
Photos keep disappearing from the iPhoto libary. After successful importing, blank placeholders appear instead of the imported photos after relaunching iPhoto.
This MacBook Pro has been an unmitigated disaster thus far...You are making the risky assumption the firmware was not properly installed. How can one not install the firmware correctly? I simply responded to the software update notice, downloaded the firmware, and installed it. The process was almost automatic. How can there possibly be any user error involved?
I believe I installed the firmware properly. If I try to install the firmware again, I get a message that the MacBook Pro is already updated with the correct firmware. In spite of this, Bootcamp keeps telling me I need to update the firmware, refusing to launch, hence the frustration.
This is not actually mine, but a friend's computer. I doubt AppleCare is valid for a computer purchased in Greece, but we'll try contacting the local distributor. It is a 900 number... -
While at boot camp assistant, Downloading the windows support software stalls
From a long time windows user, I was persuaded to migrate to mac and am quite lost. While using boot camp assistant, downloading the windows support software just stalls at 20%. I tried using alternative drives, USB, DVD and the partitioned HD of imac but still to no avail. What should I do?
No problem. For me, I spent the time downlaoding the drivers for Boot Camp 4.0 (form Lion), un-installed by Boot Camp 3.0 because it wouldn't upgrade, and then learned that Boot Camp 4.0 didn't support my old MacBok Pro. I had to go back and install 3.0, then update to 3.1, 3.2 and finally to 3.3. That took me about an hour and a half... Oh well, at least I already had most of those on disc ot downloaded...

I am trying to install the software drivers for Windows 7 Home using Boot Camp 4 Assistant. I receive the following message: "Can't install software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." Why is this happening?
You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.

After getting error messages and not being able to fix the problem I decided to remove the windows partition/restore and try again. I'm now trying again and Im receiving a message "Can't install windows support software because it is not currently available from the software update server". Was I suppose to do anything else besides removing the windows partition or why is it that I can no longer get the windows support software? Help Please!!
Also for time machine do I just put in one of those empty discs in the mac and it backs everything up?

Windows Server 2012 R2 - ALL HF's Failing to install as "Does Not Apply to this computer"

A general question about hot fix installs.
I have multiple servers that are all Windows 2012 R2. They do not have internet connections, so I have to install the Hotfixes manually. I download the HF's from the ISO download page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month. I collect them and install in a bulk install during a release cycle ( a couple times a year). I just realized that NO HF's have installed since JUNE 2014. Every HF that shows up in WindowsServer2012R2 directory fail to install with a message of "The update is not applicable to your computer". Which is fine if that was true, but.... I get this message for every HF from the ISO's since June 2014. NOT one HF thinks it is applicable to my computer. Could that be the case? No HF's apply to my Server 2012 systems since June of 2014?

I recently installed windows 8 using bootcamp. I initially just installed windows, then I went back to bootcamp and installed the windows support software on my hard drive. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install the software to windows 8 so that it runs properly.

I submitted this question because I'm a bit stuck with SCOM 2012 R2, I'll try to explain briefly what is happening right now in my environment, we have a DEV SCOM Deployment in which all the roles are installed in a single server, this servers is a
VMware machine running Windows Server 2008R2.
The Initial installation of the SCOM Operations Manager and all the other components was not performed by me but by a co-worker, unfortunately he doesn't remember much about the initial configuration. So i had to pickup where he left things about a year
ago, neither of us are SCOM experts, and we have almost no previous experience with previous versions of this application.
Now the problem that I'm facing is the following, all the DEV Servers are Domain Controllers and one of the indication within the "Guide for System Center Management Pack for Active Directory for Operations Manager 2012" states the following

After my first review I notice that our servers were being monitor by agent-less mode and given the above statement from the Operations Guide the only way that we could ever get those domain controllers monitor by SCOM would be by installing the agent on
each server, so I read somewhere (Can't remember where) that in order to install the agents in all the servers I should first remove them from the Agent-less node, which I did. Then I tried to use the discovery wizard to get the agent install in all of them
but it didn't matter how many times I try the servers never show up.
I read in a Tech Net Article that you had to modify the security settings so SCOM would let me decide if I wanted to approve it or not.

went back to the Internet to try to find out if someone else had experience the same problem, and in one website some mentioned that if the servers were not showing up it was probably because they were still register in the SCOM Database, now I have no idea
of how i can check that or How can i remove them from there to have them available again, but what troubles me the most is that even after i installed the agent manually the server were not being recognize.

Not sure if this is related to the problem that I'm facing right now, but , I make sure that the RPC Services were running and also the related dependencies too. There's no Firewall enable in any of the servers and DNS seems to be working properly.
Ports 135 / 5723 are open and listening so since I ran out of ideas, I would like to know if some of the experts in this field could perhaps give me some guidelines.
There's one caveat that I haven't mention yet and that is related to SQL, I checked and my user just has read access to SQL i'm not sure if that could affect this but i think is worth mentioning.
My main goal is to have all the servers showing up in the Operations Manager Console.

Oscar LoriaSo you can ping and nslookup from your ms to these agents and vice versa right? I wouldn't do a manual install, I would push the agent from the management server. You can uninstall the agent manually, or use cleanmom to get rid of them. Then
do an install from the console. When you initiate the install from the console (management server), should it run into any issues it will dump out an error which will give you an idea of where the problem may be.

I installed JDK 1.5 and tried installing again. It failed again at the same point.
I ran netca.bat file individually. It gave the below error in the command line.And I am pasting the log also here. It looks like something to do with my JDK.

8i R2 on W2k db assist fail on install
I'm not able to perform an install of 8iR2 on Windows 2000. When I get to the point of "Configuration Tools" of the Universal Installer, I fail to configure the Database Configuration Assistant. The log file in /assistant/dbca/dbSilentCreate.log says "and is an invalid command line argument." Net8 and OMS NT Service configure successfully, only db assistant fails.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to correct the situation? I'd appreciate it.

This guide is excellent and I followed all of it except the date formatting bits. Also, try the oracle and database installations under Gnome and not KDE- this worked for me for some reason.
