BootCamp cannot detect custom WinXP install disc after entering key

I have a friend who is attempting to install Windows XP through Boot Camp and I am helping him. We BTed a custom Windows XP Professional SP2 installation ISO and we burned it into a CD. It is perfectly bootable when run on a PC, and it would autorun and so on. It is also perfectly detectable on his new MacBook as a WinXP install disc. But when BootCamp attempts to look for the disc's existence, it fails.
Now he got past every stage in BootCamp, from partition (32GB) to entering the license key. What could possibly be the problem? May I stress that although the disc is custom, it contains everything enough to have enabled me to reinstall my old PC and install a VMWare installation before.
Thanks if anyone could help.

Hi, hold alt key at bootup, or CMD+r keys at bootup.

    Hi Experts,
I'm facing the issue as stated in the OSS note 916654 - LM13: Verification field not cleared after [Enter] key. My current system is ECC, that is why the OSS is already applied to the ECC version. But the problem is, i still faced the problem stated in the OSS.
    Symptom
    In customizing:
    - You have defined [ENTER] in destination screen 302 to SAVE items.
    - You want to verify the destination bin information.
You use 'Confirm Transfer Order Clustered' RF transaction LM13.
You scan several SUs and press enter.
You press [F4-Next pushbutton] to confirm the associated TO(s).
In the destination screen 302, you scan the verification value for the first item and press [ENTER] key.
==> The item is confirmed correctly but when the system proposes the next item, the verification value of the first item is displayed.
Anyone know how to fix this issue? Pls help.
    thanks

    Hi,
For example itab-matnr is your screen field
    in PAI
      field: itab-matnr,
             module check_matnr_0700.
    module check_matnr_0700 input.
      move itab_matnr to v_matnr.
    endmodule.
    in PBO.
    move v_matnr to itab-matnr.

Thanks a lot for your prompt answer. Well yes if i clear in the PBO the value gets cleared, but then i wanted to get the next records value into the value field, well the problem got solved in a much easier way i put everything into one chain endchain statement.

  • Can't boot from install disc after new RAM & SSD install

I decided to breathe some new life in to my 2007 2.2GHz MacBook by:
    -upgrading the RAM to 4gb w/Centon memoryPOWER 2GB DDR2-667 PC2-5300 CL5 SO-DIMM Laptop Memory Module
-replace the HDD with a SSD (Samsung 840 Pro-Series MZ-7PD128BW 128GB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Solid State Hard Drive).
-Also going from Leopard to Snow Leopard after the hardware upgrade, then possibly Lion/Mountain Lion...
    What I've already done:
    1. Backed up my hard drive using time machine, did not clone
    2. Using the install disc/Disc Utility, I erased my old hard drive completely (Hope that wasn't a huge mistake!)
    3. Replaced the previous 2gb (1x1gb) with the new 2x2gb RAM sticks
    4. Swapped out the HDD with the SSD
When I went to boot the machine, all I get is a black screen. I can hear the optical drive spin for a while, then stop. Screen remains completely black. I have tried using C while starting as well as Control - same result. So, I put the old (erased) HDD back in and again got the same result. I didn't have time to put the old RAM back in and try again before work this morning and intend to tonight. Based on that, maybe my RAM isn't compatible even though the specs look to be...? But, does anyone know if the components I am using are not compatible? or did I totally screw up by erasing the old Drive prior to confirming this would work? Am I missing something else?
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

I was finally able to get it done using my old RAM, so that must be the weak link. I'm going to try to return the RAM I bought and try a different brand. Thanks For the response!

  • Won't boot from install discs after deleting some system files

I've been looking through the forum and haven't found an answer to my problem - maybe someone can help me out.
I have an aluminum Powerbook G4, 1.67, 1.5 RAM, 10.4.11. I was experiencing the problem with FCE capturing video for about 5 minutes and then freezing, and I read some threads here about how this can be fixed by returning to Quicktime 7.2 and installing it with Pacifist. I did this, but first tried to delete my previous Quicktime version files, and obviously I deleted some system files in the process. That's how my new problem started.
Programs now that do not open - Preview, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, Yahoo, Mail, and Microsoft Messenger. I no longer have my date/time/battery level/airport/bluetooth indicators in my toolbar. The Spotlight icon flashes, but will not open. Also, when opening the System Preferences pane, it opens just for a second or two and then crashes and closes. Safari, airport, and Word all work, though, and I still can access internet.
I tried to re-install OS 10.4 from my black install disc. The computer reads the disc, but after I click the installer icon and then "restart," the computer fails to completely reboot. The disc spins in the drive, I get the Apple, the indicator, and then the screen goes to blue and the disc soon stops spinning. Nothing happens after that. I've tried rebooting by holding down the C key but the same happens. When I hold down the option key, I get to the point where I can choose to boot from the install disc, and then the same thing happens - the blue screen and nothing more. Booting with the shift key held down doesn't work either.
I did just have a repair by Apple - my adaptor plug sparked when inserting it into the outlet, and I had to have the logic board replaced. But the computer seemed to be working fine when I got it back, except for the FCE issue first mentioned. Looks like my good intentions have done me in.
The install disc is about three years old, and is in good condition. It's been in the garage, so could heat or cold affect the readability of the disc?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can boot from my install disc and get a fresh install of my OS?

    Hi bboross,
Tough without a Tiger Disk, but try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
    1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line. Hold CMD+s keys down at bootup.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
(space between fsck and -fy important)
    3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***

Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
    4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

  • Downgrade from Bootcamp 3 to enable WinXP install

I want to install an old copy of Win XP on my '09 MacPro. This copy has worked fine with my '07 iMac. Unfortunately, the MacPro's version of Bootcamp (v3.0.4-325) will not allow installation of anything other than Win7.
Can I somehow downgrade to an earlier version of Bootcamp that will enable to install WinXP? thanks.

You have to use the 10.6 disk as it only comes with Boot Camp 3.0 which is what you need to get the other updates to work with Windows, they are only updateable sequentially. Meaning you can't use 3.1 or any other version first until you load the 3.0 drivers. 3.0 has drivers for XP.
One reason why the XP installer didn't work could be you don't have it formatted right, Windows installer HAS to format it, it doesn't matter what you formatted it as, via Disk Utility or whatever when you were partitioning it, the Windows Installer has to be the last one to do it.
Some of the requirements of Windows:
WIRED mouse AND keyboard, XP service pack 2 or larger and only 32 bit is supported.
If having issues with the keyboard, it's also been suggested to use another keyboard and even a Windows keyboard, it works for some.
If you do get XP to install OK and still get the alert for the drivers being incompatible then copy the whole Boot Camp folder from the 10.6 disk over to the desktop or empty folder in Windows and try it from there.
If you still have issues right click on the setup.exe and choose one of the compatibilities modes, (Vista I think usually works?)
Fully understand wanting to fully boot into Windows.

  • Open Firmware Can't boot my WinXP install disc (although the OS sees it)

So I've been unable to play ANY games on my MacBook Pro under Crossover (games that worked fine under my old 1.8Ghz MacBook Pro) because I get all sorts of weird graphical rendering issues.
So I thought I'd reboot into windows, install the games there, and see if the problems were related to Crossover or not.
So I launch Bootcamp Assistant to install Windows XP. I pop in the Windows XP disc (under MacOSX) and I see the disc and all the installer files, and I click to reboot into the Windows installer.
The laptop reboots and when it comes up I can hear it trying to read the cd. I can hear it switching speedings up and down and moving the read headers. But it never starts the installer, instead it spits out the disc and prompts me to insert a bootable disc.
Problem is I know this disc works. I've used it many times. And back over under MacOSX it reads the disc just fine.
So I know this "new" laptop I got from work was actually refurbished, and I think they messed with it. Specifically I wonder if they mess with the open firmware. Because again, MacOSX (the software) could see and read the disc just fine. But when I'm in the open firmware loader it can't read the disc.
Also, if I hold down Option at boot time, I get the option to select my WindowsXP disc because it sees it, but again, it can't load it...
Is this a 32-bit/64-bit issue? I don't know. All I know is I can't boot my XP CD to install XP....
Is there a way for me to reinstall the open firmware?

I've now tried my buddy's WindowsXP SP2 disc and the first time, it loaded the windows installer (boot and held down Option and selected the disc) but the install failed. On reboot the windows partition will not boot.
So I tried again, and now his disc and responding the same way my disc responds.
I reboot, hold down Option, select the Windows XP disc, and then the screen goes black. I hear it trying different speeds to read the disc, then finally it stops and spits the disc back out and tells me to insert a bootable disc.
So that's two separate WindowsXP install discs. Both are known to work.
So why can this drive see the disk and files just fine under MacOSX -but not- under the EFI bootloader?? And yes I've tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM.

  • G5 won't recognize install disc after formatting

    Hi all,
I recently found a G5 tower at my work that wasn't being used. It had a Debian on it so I formatted it with my OS 10.4 disc in order to install tiger but now it won't recognize any kind of startup disc.
When I turn on the comp and hold option it gives me the window where I can choose my startup disc, but no disc is ever found. When I start the computer up with out hitting any keys or holding C it just gives me a globe icon and never finishes booting.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Mike

Hi BDAqua and thanks for the suggestions,
the CMD-OPT -SHIFT-DEL key combo didn't seem to have any affect on the computer, and I'm not sure what a firmware password is.
I actually have a couple of install discs, one for 10.3.5 that has the 2Z691 numbering on it, and another for 10.3.7 that has a 691.... numbering on it. I'm not sure which of these came with the computer but they both say power mac g5 on them and neither of them has worked so far. I've also tried using a debian for ppc install disc with no luck on that either.
When I start the computer up it'll either show me a folder with a question mark or square with a globe in it, and when I hold option it'll look for a drive to start from but will never find one.

  • I turned auto login off and set a password. It does not work. I tried using the install disc and C key a few times but no success. Now the install disc does not even activate with the C key. Help

I turned ato login off. Set a password. On login it failed. Perhaps I misstyped when setting up. I used the instaldisc to reset the password but after a few attempts It failed. Was it a mistake to select the hard drive after resetting the password.  I would like to try the alternative but now the C-key does not even let the install disc open, it goes directly to  the name and password screen. I need Help

    Keunepete,
When I ordered my books for the ICND1 and ICND2, they came with a CD in the back pocket (sleeve) of the book. Along with the CD was a thick piece of paper that had the activation code on it. It was a white, square piece of paper with big black print on it. Did you buy your book used? Was the CD sealed in the back pocket?

  • Time formatet string in thtmlb dropdownlistbox after enter key or tab key

    Dear Collegues,
In our BSP-Application we use the thtmlb:dropdownlistbox. It's configured as you can see below in the code cutout:
    DATA: wa_result type ZZPRBRS_PRSRG.
                      %>
                      <td>
                      <thtmlb:dropdownListBox id        = "DD_PREISREGEL"
                                              selection = "<%= DD_PREISREGEL %>"
                                              editable  = "TRUE" >
                        <%
      loop at APPLICATION->PRREG_TAB into wa_result.
                        %>
                        <thtmlb:ddlbItem key   = "<%= wa_result-PRSRG %>"
                                         value = "<%= wa_result-PRSRG %>" />
                        <%
      endloop.
      clear wa_result.
                        %>
                      </thtmlb:dropdownListBox>
As you can see the ddlb is set as editable.
    So far so good.
But when we edit the entry in the box and leave the box with ENTER KEY or TAB KEY the controlle change the format of the entry to a kind of time format. Excamlpe:
We choose the entry GSVIES2 (one of the list entries) and we edit it to GSVIES22 the controll change it to 22:00. Longer entries will be changed to an entry like xx:xx:xx.
The wa_result-PRSRG for the entries is an char(12).
I found no notes about this issue.
    Does anybody know this behave?
How can we avoid that changing after editing?
    Kind regards
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I was wondering, if you really want to have an editable DropDownlistbox, did they advise anything?
And, what do you think; should I go ahead and extent the THTMLB library with a ZDropDownlistbox which doesn't use the 'timepicker' javascript?
    references to my questions:

  • Where are the Bootcamp drivers on the Leopard install disc?

I have an older generation MacBook Pro (about April 2007), and it was running fine with Leopard/Bootcamp 2.0 and Win XP Pro until recently. In the process of trying to fix it, I installed the Bootcamp 2.1 upgrade, which killed my bluetooth capability. I want to roll back to the drivers that came with my Leopard installation disc, but when I insert the disc (running Bootcamp with Win XP), I can't find the drivers. I've searched the disc for a .exe file, and it's just not there. I even rebooted in OSX and right clicked on the Bootcamp Assistant (in Applications/Utilities), but did not see the executable there either. Any suggestions?

    Hi Stefan,
I'm afraid my Windows partition is hopelessly screwed up! I tried MacDrive on the Windows side and on the Mac side -- no executables showed up. I tried uninstalling the Mac-XP drivers, but they wouldn't uninstall. Finally, it occurred to me that I might be able to see the drivers if I rebooted in OSX and opened Parallels -- and it worked. I downloaded the Drivers folder to my OSX desktop, then went back into the Windows side of Bootcamp, and copied it to my Windows desktop thru MacDrive. But when I ran it, the installation never completed. I tested it by trying to add a bluetooth device, but I couldn't get Window to pair with it.
I think my current problem is that I can't uninstall the Mac drivers (the 2.1 version, which started this mess) from Windows. Do you know why this is happening? More importantly, do you know of a way to fix it, short of reformatting my Windows partition and stating from scratch?
    Thanks,
    Casey

  • Bootcamp not recognizing legit Vista install disc (says it's a blank disc).

Through school, I received a copy of Windows Vista Business. I had it installed on bootcamp for over 2 years.Recently, my hard drive crashed. I replaced the hard drive, reinstalled Snow Leopard, and then attempted to reinstall Vista through bootcamp. I have created the partition on the hard drive. When it gets to the point that I need to insert the Vista installation disc, I insert it, and it tells me the disc is blank. It is an official copy from Microsoft, and has only be in a computer once before. There are no scratches on the disc. I try to open the disc in finder, and it still shows as blank. I decided to try upgrading to Lion, to see if it would help, but it considers the disc blank just the same. I do not have the money to buy another full version of the Windows OS, but desperately need it for school. Please advise!

  • Itunes cannot detect my  i phone 4 after restoring.. lost all data  help!!

I was trying to update my I phone 4 with the latest Ois system when i tunes crashed. I had to restore my iPhone as it was irresponsive. To restart it when I tried to restore; itunes first showd me the the progress as : Extracting Software.. (completed) then VErify with apple store (complete) and then suddenly a pop up box appears with  a msg saying ' The i phone "i phone" could not be restored. The device cannot be found. As there is no number to this error msg i do not know how to resolve this. Please help as I have all my pictures/ videos of my six mnth old on this phone asn would hate to lose them !!

Your data is most likely gone, whether or not you get your phone working again.
Surely, with something as valuable as pictures and videos of your six month old, you've been importing them at frequent intervals onto your computer, just like you would from any other video camera or still camera.  Those pictures will still be safe on your computer once you get your phone sorted out.
And, given the priceless nature of those pictures, I'm sure you've been backing up all the data on your computer as well.
