Bootcamp does not recognize Windows 7 Installation USB

I have a 2010 iMac running the current 10.10 Yosemite build. Bootcamp version is 5.1.2.
I want to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a partition on one of my internal hard drives.
I created an installation USB drive using bootcamp resulting in a MS-DOS FAT formatted USB flash drive containing ~4.75GB of data. The OS installation and the current Bootcamp tools. The drive is named WININSTALL .
When I start up Bootcamp to do an installation I get an error saying "The installer disc could not be found."
How do I tell Bootcamp to install off of the USB instead of looking for an installer disc?

You might wan't to ask in the Boot Camp forum where the Boot Camp gurus hang out.

It sounds like you have not yet completed the Windows installation process by installing the Windows drivers.

  • Bootcamp does not recognize windows 7 installer disc

I am trying to install windows 7 on my mac using Boot Camp.   I have a bootable version of windows 7 that is NOT a branded version on a usb flash drive.  No matter what I do when I hit install, I get the following error:
The installer disc could not be found.
Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized.
    Why isn't it recognizing this?
    Thanks in advance,

Actually, it is the Option key that you need to press to get the boot startup manager.
Is the partition mounting in the Finder as a disk? When you do GetInfo on the disk, what does it say in the General section at the top? My Vista partition mounts, and the GetInfo General section has the format listed "Windows NT File System (NTFS)"--I can double click to open it and see all the files, and copy them to the Mac partition.
Also, you might want to post further in the Boot Camp Installation forum:

PSE_13 Editor does not recognize Windows 7 but the Organizer does?  How do I fix this?

Try making separate desktop icons for the Editor and Organizer. You can then launch directly. The standard desktop icon is for the welcome screen which often runs in the background or doesn’t shut down properly.
Start by right-clicking on the desktop and select:
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
Inside the Photoshop Elements 13 folder make sure you select the application (not a shortcut) by scrolling down to the files beginning with the letter P and highlighting ‘PhotoshopElementsEditor’
Then click next followed by finish.
You can repeat for the Organizer using the different file path.
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 13 Organizer
    Highlight ‘PhotoshopElementsOrganizer’
Then click next, followed by finish.
Now that you have your separate desktop icons you can delete the one for the welcome screen, if preferred.

  • Windows 8 Bootcamp Does Not Recognize External Monitor

So, my Bootcamp of Windows 8 does not recognize my external monitor when I try to plug it in. I have read that the startup must recognize the monitor during the boot process. However, I have already done this and my external monitor remains in sleep mode. My drivers are all up to date with this bootcamp and I work on programming a lot so I need a solution for this issue because going back and forth between windows of the internet and my code is not ideal for me and wastes too much time. The external monitor works when I run my OS X, just not on Windows 8. If anyone could point me in the direction of how to solve this issue, it would be greatfully appreciated.

They're downloadable. But I'm going to create a system restore point in case something happens.
The below discussion had a similar issue but with Windows 7

If the method as described by Rider5512 does not prove to be the solution you require, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . • Bootcamp will not load Windows installer - No bootable device, insert disk then press any key

Hello, I recently decided to install bootcamp onto my 2009 27" iMac, I have done this before for other people's computers and I thought it would be no different for my own. However, on attempt to install the Windows disk, instead of starting the installer it only gives me an error message saying No bootable device, insert boot disk then press any key. I have tried ejecting the disk and then putting it back into my disk driver but it still seems to give me the same error. I went back into my Mac using Alt(option) key on startup and then set the startup disk as the Windows installer disk but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I also tried booting the disk directly from the startup disk menu is the alt(option) key on startup but that didn't do anything different either.
    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Also if it helps my computer is a
    2009 27" iMac running OSX 10.8.4
And my disk drive is an external drive because my internal SuperDrive went out.

That last point is your problem, Boot Camp doesn't really like booting from external drives.
You will have to do the following (assuming Boot Camp already partitioned your hard disk):
    1. Use Disk Utility to make a CD/DVD Master of the Windows Install Disc.
    2. Rename the resulting *.cdr file so it has an *.iso extension.
    3. Insert a USB Flash Drive (8GB or more) into a USB port and start Boot Camp Assistant.
    4. Make sure only "Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk" is checked.
    5. Follow the directions, selecting the USB Flash Drive as the destination, and the *.iso as the source.
You should now be able to boot from and install Windows from the USB Flash Drive. It's annoying, but I had to do that.
You will need a second flash drive of 1GB or more, or 700MB or more extra space on the install disk to place the boot camp support files, which will need to be installed.

  • OSX 10.3.9 does not recognize Memerex 2GB USB Travel Drive

My USB and firewire card is operating properly and recognizes the USB printer and keyboard but does not regognize the USB flash memory drive.
Do PC formatted flash memory drives not function with OSX 10.3.9?
I was hoping to use the flash drive to do nothing more than move jpg files from Mac to PC.

I have SanDisk USB 4 Gb flash and was going to use it for exactly the thing as you do and ran into same problem. However somewhere I read that the flash drive can be reformatted (I think MSDOS) so it will be recognized on both PC and Mac. But since the prices of the flash drives dropped so much I just ran down to Staples and got another identical SanDisk flash and now use one for my PC and one for my Mac.

  • ITunes 7.0.1 does not install--Windows Installer Package Problem

I am trying to upgrade from iTunes 6 to the newest version. I downloaded setup and ran it, and it got a bit through installing iTunes before it said, "There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I have never had problems installing other programs using Windows Installer. I also never had problems upgrading iTunes until now. There is no info on this specific issue anywhere in the Apple website or on the internet, that I have found. Any ideas?

okay, let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

Seanspecht, in your first post you said you were running 10.6.8 which is Snow Leopard. In your next post you mentioned Lion which is 10.7.3.
They have different Boot Camp versions.
Snow Leopard is Boot Camp 3 and has all the drivers on the install disk.
Lion is boot Camp 4 and has the drivers in the recovery disk.

  • Measurement and Automation Explorer does not recognize two identical USB 3.0 cameras at once. How do I fix this?

I am running a set up which uses 2 identical USB Point Grey cameras of the same model (FL3-U3-13S2M-CS). Both USB cameras are plugged into the computer (blue USB cables).
When I open up Measurement and Automation Explorer and look under "NI-IMAQdx Devices" in the configuration tree, LavVIEW only recognizes one of the two USB cameras. Measurement and Automation Explorer only lists one camera, in which it recognizes it as "Point Grey Camera". Why this is occurring? How can I get LabVIEW to recognize two separate cameras of the same model?
    Attachments:

That's about the old NI-IMAQ for USB cameras. IMAQdx has built in support for DirectShow connected cameras. IMAQdx should be able to use more than one DirectShow camera at the same time, but the Point Grey DirectShow driver may have some issues.
