BootCamp doesn't ready XP disc

I installed bootcamp and now am trying to install XP. When I put the disc in it shows up on my desktop as WinXP SP2 but when I try and run the install in bootcamp I get:
The installer disc could not be found.
I tried a couple tricks like opening the disc up I tried holding C and also holding option at boot up.
Nothing happened when I held those keys in, I wonder if that has something to do with the keyboard being bluetooth?
My boss used the same install disc on his MacBook Pro and there were no issues so I don't get why I'm having the problem.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Upon further review it looks like my boss made the cd just by copying files not by making a bootable disc. I tried making a bootable disc and the computer restarts in bootcamp but hangs after that. It's just a black screen and a blinking cursor. We are going to try the original disc and see if that works. But I do have an error when I try and verify the main drive. I ended up installing bootcamp on my second drive because of this but maybe this is what is causing problems with the install.
During validation it says:
Invalid number of allocation blocks
Volume check Failed.
I tried Repairing Disk Permissions but that didn't solve anything. I can't repair Disc because that is grayed out.
I also tried booting with the install disc to try and run the Disk Utility that way but nothing happens when I hold C down. Or any key for that matter. I wonder if that has to do with this bluetooth keyboard. What a pain.
Any suggestions?

  • Bootcamp doesn't see install disc

I have a copy of windows xp professional that I bought about two years ago (still in the box). I am trying to run it on my MacBook Air (1.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3). On the bootcamp Select Tasks page, I checked Install Windows 7 (I left the other two boxes unchecked). I then asked bootcamp assistant to partician 20GB for Windows 20GB and 2300 GB for OS X (I'm running 10.7.5). Bootcamp assistant tells me that it cant’ find the installer disc?
Is this because the disc is for windows xp?

You are using OS X Lion in your Mac. The Boot Camp version included with OS X Lion and Mountain Lion is only compatible with Windows 7 so, if you insert a DVD with Windows XP or Windows Vista, Boot Camp won't recognize your disc. Also, if you try to install Windows XP, you will probably get a BSOD: I doubt that all the hardware is compatible with Windows XP.
If you still want to use Windows XP, download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows XP in a virtual machine

2011 MacBook Pro, 64 bit i7 quad core, upgraded to Lion OSx, Bootcamp installed with Windows 7, wanting to install Windows 8 (don't ask), tried downloading/installing bootcamp 5.0.5033 (both on the mac/windows partitions (actually using a parallel to run Windows)), error message something similar to bootcamp doesn't support this Windows
So the question is am I doing something wrong? Should I just try and install windows 8 through my windows 7 partition and see if I can use the bootcamp 5.05033. Or do I solely have to use the bootcamp to install Windows 8? I'm not too familiar with bootcamp and how it runs.

if you're using parallels and full bootcamp then you're making it 100% more troublesome for youself then it needs to be
bootcamp is running windows directly on the hardware this give full memory and cpu and 3d video game power
running windows in parallels is running a virtual machine where one can't run powerful games and the like but one can have it in a window and change fast between osx and windows
parallels as the only virutal machine (as far as I know) support not have the operating system as a file on the osx harddisk but can access a bootcamp parition as virtual machine but without the benefits bootcamps provides
it's a service parallels provide for those who want both to play games in normal bootcamp and sometimes use windows in a virutal machine
just install it like a normal virtual machine and you need not worry about bootcamp drivers and the likes
plus it would mean that the windows part would be a part of the timemachine bacup of osx
which it is not when it's in bootcamp

  • How can I install Adobe PSE9 from my old computer to my new computer that doesn't have a disc drive?

Recently purchased a new PC with Windows 8 and doesn't have a disc drive. How do I install my Adobe PSE9 from my old computer to my new computer?
    Thanks!

You do not install it from the older machine to the newer one.  You just install it on the newer one, and if you prefer to you can deactivate it on the older one, though you are not required to since you are allowed to have the software activated on two machines.
You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • I found an old Photoshop Elements 4.0 in my house, but my new PC doesn't have a disc slot

Hello, I found a Photoshop Elements 4.0 disc that is still in good condition, but my new computer doesn't have a disc slot. Can I still download it? How? Also, will there be compatibility issues because it is so old? I have a Dell PC with Windows 8. Thanks for the help!

Get the contents of the disc copied to a cheap thumb drive, then plug it into the new computer and copy the files to the desktop and run the installation from there.

  • How do I redeem my digital copy when my new mac doesn't have a disc drive?

I just bought a dvd with digital copy but my Mac doesn't have a disc drive. I have the redemption code but can't load the disc to redeem it like it asks. TIA

You need to purchase an external CD/DVD drive which can read/write to/from the media and is compatible with a computer. I don't own a PS3, but from what I just saw on their website, I don't believe that would be compatible.

Answer this: do you have NTFS for OS X installed?
That is the only time normally though not always that Windows won't show in

Boot Camp is only Apple drivers.
So other than language, you are running Windows natively. Only.
You don't upgrade Boot Camp. You probably do have Windows updates of course.

You should read the Boot Camp Installation Guide.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
And you should visit the Boot Camp forum. You posted in the Snow Leopard forum. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • Bootcamp doesn't recognize Win 7 64-bit iso file

Downloaded the official Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit version from Digital River and tried to create the Win 7 installation media using bootcamp.
The bootcamp assistant automatically selects the downloaded iso-file. But when I click "Continue", I get an error message saying that Boot Camp only supports the 64-Bit version of Windows and that I should use that version.
Why doesn't Boot Camp accept it?
Anyone can give a another link to download the 64-bit version of Win 7 Home Premium?
I do have a valid product key for Win 7 Home Premium, but my installation DVD is only the 32-bit version, that's why I have to download it.

iso file is an image of an optical disc
any burner programs can burn as such to a dvd
bootcamp didn't have any problems installing from my windows 7 ultimate disc which contain both 64bit and 32bit install

  • Trackpad in bootcamp doesn't work all the time

Hi, so I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro because out of my own stupidity, I destroyed my old one. I decided when I got the new one, that I would BootCamp it and run Windows 7 on a partition. I've been pretty happy with it so far, but occasionally, the trackpad doesn't work. Normally when I reboot into Windows the next time, it'll work. I don't know exactly what is causing it, but the settings within BootCamp tell me that it should be scrolling, right clicking, etc, and it simply isn't.... Any reason why this would be? It shouldn't be the drivers unless this came out with new ones between now and this past Saturday...
    Thanks

my magic pad works fine under win8 but to use it I have to click on it first
as to activate it just start grouping it don't work

  • After upgrade to Maverick bootcamp doesn't work

Hi I bought my computer on january 2011 it's a macbook pro and the version was 10.6.8 for all this time, yesterday I decided to upgrade to maverick because my computer was very slow and stoping all the time. So far is very good but I'm trying to put windows on my computer and my bootcamp keeps giving me this error "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server" and I tried to download windows 7 direct from their website to my usb but still when I try to install with bootcamp it doesn't recognize.
    Thanks a lot

My friend experienced that same problem. I believe he fixed it by reinstalling the iOS 4 on his iPhone, then simply restoring his backup file and syncing his iPhone again. It's a bug with the iOS4 software, which will probably be fixed by Apple with the next update anyways.

  • Mac Mini 2012 bootcamp doesn't install Windows 7 or 8. Help

So I have a new Mac mini late 2012 model, i7 4GB stock ram. I'm trying to install a windows 8 through bootcamp. I have a legitimate windows 8 professional DVD disc that I bought from best buy. I'm using an LG USB external DVD drive. Bootcamp partitions the drive just fine but when it restarts, it will not load, I just get a black screen with a blinking curser/dash thingy in the top left corner. I have tried several other copies of windows, through DVD AND through bootable USB and it never gets past this point.
    Any ideas????
    Thank you.
    -Dean

I will be installing Win7 Pro on my new mac mini today once the migration assistant completes transfering my data. I will keep you posted on how it goes. My new mini is i7 1 TB HDD and 4 GB ram (for now until I max out the ram). I dread the updates for Win7 as I don't have a version with SP1. Oh well.. Also I am using an external mac superdrive for installation.

  • DVD Drive Doesn't recognize Media Disc

I have an Envy dv7. Product # B6B75AV. DVD drive hpBD MLT UJ260
I have a program that will copy a dvd from the source, dvd drive #1, to the target same dvd drive #1.
When it is done copying the disc it ejects the original and asks to have a writable media disc inserted.
When I insert the DVD  the drive doesn't recognize the blank dvd, keeps asking for it, and when I put it in, it spits back out saying to insert a writable disc.  I have used the blank DVD+R for burning other things so it should work.  I tired putting in 4 different blank discs to make sure the disc was ok.
Is there anyway to find out for sure whether this DVD writer uses DVD+R or DVD-R?
    Any help will be appreciated.
