Bootcamp don't detect windows 7.iso

Hi all!
I have few months ago a new macbook pro 13 inch 2011 with lion.
Now I want to do a partition because that way I can play with games in windows 7.
I have a original iso of windows 7 32 bits, and I make a booteable usb with windows 7 usb tool.
But when I go to bootcamp and i try to install windows 7, he say that can't find a windows 7 CD...
Also I try to start with option key, and I can see hard disk, and recovery disk, I go to hard disk and after I have the option to start from Macintosh HD with Lion or 2 options of windows, but if I try to start with one of this options, appear a black window saying that i need to insert a booteble cd and press any key....
Please help me, I don't know what more to do!
Thank you!

Right Apple has made it so the only way to install Win 7 is to do it from the Optical drive and that optical drive has to be installed inside the system, not connected by USB. You will need to make a Win 7 DVD from that ISO file.

  • How do you install Windows 7 on Macbook Air with a Windows 7 ISO image?

Macbook Airs have no optical drives, and I can't buy one. I do, however, have the Windows 7 ISO image. And I also have access to a Windows 7 PC. I found an article on CNET on installing from a Flash Drive, but that requires the CD. I also have a hard drive (120GB) and Flash USB (4GB), if they could help. Please help me as many programs I am familiar with are only windows-based. I am tried using open-source software like Wineskin Winery and WineBottler, but to no avail, I always end up confused with them. Please help me.

Okay, how do you use Wine? I don't want to install lots of software like MacPorts, just want the minimal software. So there are many things like Wine, WineBottler, and Wineskin Winery. What do I use for what? For example, I want to turn a windows game (Age of Empires 2 for example) into a full Mac App. How would I go about this?
I tried researching but it is so in-depth with terminal commands and all(i dont want to risk ruining my computer)
What is crossover? Is it another wine app?
Oh, and I tried Winery Wineskin...why doesn't it work? It keeps installing random things like Gecko, or Mono, but in the end, it doesn't work. Do I need the windows app's executable, or the window's apps's installation executable??
What are engines, and how many do I need to create? I think the best thing for me is to learn wine, because installing windows with bootcamp isn't worth the effort, I think, with me having only a few apps i need to run.
As for learning mac apps only, well, Windows apps dominate the market with most of applications being made for windows, especially games, with 90% market. So for some apps, there just isn't a mac version available, or if there is, it's costly. (Which you already know I can't buy things)
You probably cannot afford to buy Crossover either.  It is designed for user friendliness though, but of course Wine cannot run everything.
Yes you have to learn some things to use Wineskin.  Normally on Gecko and Mono prompt, just cancel them.  Gecko is needed if you have a program using mshtml (its basically a replacement for Internet Explorer for programs that use parts of it).  Mono is a replacement for .NET if your program requires that.  You do not want to install them if you don't need them as they will just waste space.  You can always refresh the wrapper later on and get the same prompts if you find out you need them later.
You can copy the full installed version of a game inside the Wineskin wrapper and try to set it up that way, but its usually easier to just run the installer and install it inside the wrapper just like you'd install it in Windows.
An Engine is something you download... its basically a specific Wine build made for a Wineskin wrapper.
If you do not want to learn Wineskin enough to get in and port your programs yourself, you can often find other people who have done so (at least with games).
Check out sites like PaulTheTall.com who has tons of Wineskin wrappers already made and ready to go for many games... you just download the wrapper, install the game you want in it using the normal Installer, then its ready to go.  Many you'll need to manually update yourself to Wineskin 2.5.8 though since all the older versions broke ok the OS X 10.8.2 and 10.7.5 update, and Paul hasn't gotten to all of them yet since he has hundreds (including AoE 2 i think).
There is also Portingteam.com which has tons of pre-made wrappers for games (Including Cider hacks from official games).
If your talking about non-Game apps though, you can normally find an alternative... many of which are free.

  • Bootcamp don`t support my 64 bit file

    Hello
I have downloaded a windows home premium 64 bit iso, but bootcamp don`t accept my iso with the error that bootcamp don`t support a 32 bit iso file although I have a 64 bit version.
    thanks for answers

Are you sure your Mac supports 64 bit?

If it does, I'll ask a moderator move this thread to the Boot Camp forum, where more people might know why it isn't working.

  • Boot Camp Version 1.3b expired.. need to update but don't have windows.

So let me run you through what I did so far.
I got a version of Boot Camp 1.3 beta. I successfully installed it and began to go through the steps to set up windows. I skipped the burning the windows CD option and went straight to the partitioning. I created a 20gig partition named "Bootcamp."
I then realized I needed to burn the windows CD from Boot Camp in order to install it. So I quit the Boot Camp Assistant Application. The option to burn the windows CD was no longer available so I scrapped the Boot Camp Assistant, re-downloaded the 1.3 beta version and installed it.
Still no opportunity to burn the windows drivers CD disc. So I quit the assistant once again. I attempted to re-open the Boot Camp Assistant and I got an error message telling me it expired. So I set the date back on my clock to a date before the beta version expired (prior to Sept. 30, 2007).
Then, I got this error message:
This version of Boot Camp Assistant is not supported in Mac OS X v10.5. Use Boot Camp Assistant 2.0, located in /Applications/Utilities/.
And that's where I am right now. I still have to have the date set back to before Sept. 30th, 2007 to get to the error message above or else it tells me the version is expired.
So I've determined that I need to update Boot Camp to version 2.0 or higher, except I don't have windows installed on my computer yet. The mac support page tells me that I have to open windows and then install the updates to the latest version of boot camp... which I obviously can't do because I haven't installed windows yet.
So I'm stuck with a partitioned drive and I cannot use the Boot Camp Assistant. I need the assistant to burn the windows install CD that I need..
I'm in quite a pickle. Any help would be appreciated.. thank you.
If you need more information let me know I'll try provide the information needed to fix this issue.
    Thank you.

I don't have the Leopard disc because a man updated it for me in the mac store when I brought my laptop in for repairs.
You need to get that disk to use Boot Camp. Mac OS X 10.4 disks don't contain the drivers.
So, I have this Mac OSX install disc.. do I just insert it? And then what? How do I go about installing windows after that? I'm a little confused about how to get to the drivers and what to do I'm just not sure.
Once you've partitioned the drive and installed Windows, start up the computer into Windows and insert the disk. The installer should automatically start.

  • I am trying to reinstall Windows on my macbook pro.  I downloaded the support files and Windows 7 iso file to a USB drive.  However, when I try to run the setup.exe program I get the message "this program cannot be run in DOS mode."

I am trying to reinstall Windows (would not launch).  I removed the partition and started over.  I downloaded the support files and Windows 7 iso file to a USB drive.  However, when I try to run the setup.exe program I get the message "this program cannot be run in DOS mode."  I was successful before, what am I doing wrong this time?

    Try a restart.
If that doesn't fix the problem, shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Bootcamp Driver Problems in Windows 8

I use a MBP 13" 2010 model, and I've used it for a long time, but it's never had any problems with Bootcamp until now.
Last month I bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro x64 (disc) and I wanted to install it on my recently clean-installed Mac. I installed it with no problems using Bootcamp. Booting into Windows 8, I found that the Bootcamp Drivers weren't compatible with Windows 8, but I looked up a guide that told me just to install the drivers one by one. I did that and rebooted.
The drivers still didn't work for some reason. The brightness controls weren't adjustable, the keyboard shortcuts didn't work, the trackpad failed as well, and numerous other problems plagued me in Windows mode. I re-installed the drivers and rebooted, but it still didn't work. I even installed the Nvidia display driver seperately, but no go. Is this Bootcamp's problem? Most likely the driver's out of date.
So I'm stuck using my office computer now, until I can find a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

    defan752,
I recently put Windows 8 (64bit) on my 15" 2009 MBP. I performed a clean install utilizing Boot Camp. I followed instructions found online. Prior to installing Win8, I had WinXP installed on a partition, which worked perfectly.
For my Win8 installation I upgraded my MBP's OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion comes with a newer version of Boot Camp (version 4.0 - I believe). The newer version has a slightly different process for driver installation. It has you create a driver installation disc within the Boot Camp Asstant software running on my Mac BEFORE creating the partition and installation. First it will connect to the interenet and download the latest support files for the drivers for your machine, then it will ask you to insert a blank disc, upon which it will write Windows friendly installation file (the disc contained an executable file [.exe] which is to be run on the newly installed windows parition). While Boot Camp (4.0 or whatever it is that came with Mountain Lion) doesn't have official support for Windows 8, utilizing the Windows 7 installation method will create a Driver CD that works in Win8. After creation of driver disc, follow the normal installation instructions (create partition, install win8). Once Win8 finishes installing, go to the desk top (Windows Button + D), pop in the driver disc and the Executable file. After the file runs the drivers will be installed but will require a reboot in order to be utilized. Reboot your machine and you should be good to go.
NOTE: hold on to that driver disc, I have already had to use it to repair some of my drivers that got messed (my own fault, not mac's or MS) and reran the executable file which fixed everything again.
NOTE: You will be able to utilize much of the drivers in the Win8 environment, however there are limitations. While the trackpad supports multitouch, it is limited (two finger right click, two finger scrolling). The nifty new multitouch gestures in Win8, are not yet supported. I suspect they will be with future updates to these drivers. But we won't get that until Boot Camp can fully support Win8. Also I noticed that my speakers don't switch to headphones when I plug them in, nor does it recognize the toslink connection. I'm still looking for answers to those problems.
For more details regarding the driver support in Windows 8 running on a Mac i found this website useful:

  • HT1899 Hi There. Is there a version of BootCamp support software for Windows 8 Customer preview?

Hi There. Is there a version of BootCamp support software for Windows 8 Customer preview as yet?

8 is now Release Preview, not CP, and there is the final release 90-day trial Enterprise which is all cleaned up and ready to use.
So at least someone should be going over with this by now. Things I had that did not work right and unsupported with the Previews are working, but some, a few, need updates.
I don't think most of the issues people have with Mac running 8 are deal breakers or can't be worked around, maybe 2-3 items and heck even 'supported' - if it worked plug and play and no issues... the forum would be dead silent, but it isn't.
Not going to do it again but I have tried to post a consolidated of trackpad, graphics, audio, BT, and other things that get mentioned.
8 won't be ready to buy for full two months.
