Bootcamp Drive not showing on startup -vm fusion still works

Hi
I am having trouble booting into my iMac windows 7 bootcamp partition. It doesn't show up when I hold the alt key down at startup. I also have a fusion installation and that works fine. The windows partition is visible in finder. I know windows 7 is not officially supported, but I have had it work fine on my macbook for months.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I haven't tried that. I will give it a go.
I have noticed that I can boot into windows by using the startup disc option in system preferences.
But I would rather be able to use the alt key on boot.
Thanks

  • Drive Not Showing In Startup Disk

I have re setup my MacBook Pro, all seems well apart from this little problem. My Mac OS X Partition or Windows Partition shows in startup Disk.
Both Operating Systems do startup fine though.
I have my disk partitioned like this
    Free Space
    Windows 7
    Mac OS X
Its setup in this way so i can use TrueCypt for the Windows side.
Does anyone know how to correct this please?
You can use this link to view a screenshot

    Thanks

if you try to verify the disk, dose it report any errors? (open disk utility, click on the Macintosh HD, click on the repair tab, click verify disk.)
If you option boot, dose the computer list both Boot Volumes?
Have you tried blessing the mac hard drive?
ie: "sudo bless -folder /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/CoreServices -bootinfo"
(note the above bless command blesses the Hard Drive with the name "Macintosh HD", if you mac volume has a different name, change to match your hard drive's name.)

  • Bootcamp partition not showing at startup

    Hey guys,
I upgraded my macbook pro to Lion last week and now I can't install Windows on my computer with Bootcamp. I can still partition through Bootcamp assistant, and in Finder it shows the Bootcamp device. However, when I try to install Windows by holding Option during startup, the Bootcamp disk is not showing up. There are only three options: Mac, Recovery, and Windows (disk). If I choose the Windows disk, it tells me there's no bootable device.
Also, in Startup Disk in System Preference there's no Bootcamp option.
Is the Recovery Disk screwing it up? Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks.

    Solved.
I just installed clean BOOTCAMP using Bootcamp Assiastent, that causes windows data loss.
Anyway, after formating bootcamp, i found a solution.
get  iPartition and mark bootcamp partition "show in windows" option.
    i regret reinstalling windows

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content
I have found Senuti useful but there are others listed in the article I linked to in a previous post.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
That will let you transfer your non purchased content
For Purchased content log in to iTunes on the new computer
In Itunes Store click on Purchased under the Quick Links section on the right.
Download any music by clicking on the cloud button

  • My external hard drive not showing up

    Hello,
My external hard drive is not showing up on my desktop. I went to finder & preferences>general and made sure I checked "show these items" and checked hard drives. I even unchecked it because I have 2 other external hard drives. When I checked the hard drive box the other 2 hard drives appeared but the third hard drive did not. The hard drive not showing up on my desk top does show up when I double click my system hard drive & can be opened from there, but I want to see it on my desk top. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • USB Hard Drive not showing up in AirPort Utility

I have been using this AirPort Extreme for over two years now and it's been working fine. I finally decided to buy a self-powered USB hard drive so I can share it over the network. However, after I unpacked the hard drive, connected it to my Mac and reformatted it to HFS+ Journaled and GUID. I plugged the hard drive into my AirPort Extreme's USB port and waited. I looked in my AirPort Utility and saw nothing in the disk list.
I spent hours searching online and discovered that I am not alone in this problem, although solutions are rare. I did try one solution where I hooked up the USB hard drive to a powered USB hub and the hub into AirPort Extreme. It actually worked once and after I rebooted everything, even though the hard drive still showed up in the disk list, no computers can connect to it. Although if I connect the hard drive directly to a Mac, it would still work perfectly.
Having a USB hub is not a long term solution not that it's working anymore anyway. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have, thanks!

Thanks for the response. However, I'm not sure what you mean.
So far my experience is far from "Just connect the external hard drive to the USB port on the back of your AirPort Extreme and — voilà".

  • USB External drive not showing in Finder, or on Desktop

I have two USB external drives from the same manufacturer. One is for regular storage, the second is for Time Machine and movies.
The first one shows everywhere, on the desktop, in finder and in Disk Utility.
The second drive shows in Disk Utility only. However, it is functioning fine with Time Machine. So it is mounted. I have tried several repairs, and it reports no fault found. So it is certainly functioning correctly, but a setting or error in the operating system is not allowing it to be viewed in finder, or on the desktop.
    Any suggestions.

Correction: Title should be Firewire External drive not showing in Finder, or on Desktop.

Only my computer hard drive is and I want to import from an external drive.  I have always been able to until I updated to Aperture 3.6 and Yosemite.
I had the same problem. On the folders on the drive with the Aperture library did show in the Import panel. After I clicked the computer icon in the upper left corner of the Import panel, suddenly all drives appeared.
You can also try to drag the folder you want to import into the Import panel, to point the file chooser to the drive.

    Hi,
the NFSv4 domain name is not necessarily related to the host name or the host's fully-qualified domain name (FQDN). It can be the same like the domain name, but it does not have to.
To find the corrent NFSv4 domain name, you have to look it up in the NFSv4 server's configuration files.
    Kind regards,

  • Hard drive partitions are not showing in Startup DIsk

My hard drive is partitioned into two volumes. HD1 & HD2 (Both 500 MB)
I had Snow Leopard installed on one (HD2) and Mavericks istalled on the other.(HD1)
Both volumes were visible in the Startup Disk option in System Preferences and I could restart from either.
I upgraded the Mavericks istallation to Yosemite - worked OK.
System Disk option showed both HD1 & HD2
Restarted the Mac from HD2 in Snow Leopard mode - no probs.
Then the problem started. I wanted to restart from HD1 in Yosemite mode.
Went in System Preferences to Startup Disk option - HD1 did not show in the window - only HD2 (Snow Leopard) & Network Startup.
Any ideas anyone? (Could be a bug?)

When I restarted using Com+Opt+P+R it went into Yosemite mode with both volumes showing in Startup disk.
Restarting with HD2 (Snow Leopard) gave me the same problem again.

  • Boot Camp partition not showing in startup disk or when holding alt key

I've read countless discussions about similar questions to this one, however, I still haven't been able to find any solution.
I have an old 2006 MacBook that has just been fully updated and reformatted. I'm running OSX 10.7.5 and Boot Camp 4.
I went through the Boot Camp installation from an Windows ISO image in my usb drive, where it succesfully downloaded all files needed, and prompted me to make the partition, after which it restarted and was supposed to take me to the installation manager in the Windows partition. I first got the "No bootable driver" error, to which I read I was supposed to restart the computer, hold the alt key, and choose the boot camp partition. However, it does not show up. I only get Mac and Recover drivers.
I went into the Mac's startup disk, and only the Mac driver is showing, no Boot Camp driver, however, when I go into Disk Utilities, I can see that the BootCamp driver there.
I read somewhere that I should zap pram and reset SMC, which I did with their instructions. It didn't change anything, I still only get the Mac driver and Recovery when hitting the alt key.
Does it have something to do with my MacBook being older? That's the only reason I can think that would not allow me to do this.
Let me know what other info I can give you so that you can please help me!! Thanks in advance!

In last resort I solved my missing BOOTCAMP partition problem using a program called: iPartition from coriolis systems located in the United Kingdom http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iPartition.php it took me a coupleof days to figure out the credit card system they have Hint: use your 9 digit zip code to find your credit card address and call your bank if you have an overseas hold on the card!!!! The program found my missing BOOTCAMP partition and restored it. It did take a couple of e-mails to learn to use their program. Let me know how you turn out!

  • Windows 7 drive not showing up in start-up screen

So as you can see the picture on top, it's a picture of my bootcamp and I have installed windows 7 but the problem in here is that my drive of windows 7 in the start-up screen (when you press alt/option when the computer turns on) would not show and I tried installing my windows for about 7 times again and again becuase it would not work does anybody have the same problem or got through this problem? please help

yeah, I had a feeling it might be Tuxera causing it, wanted to see if there was another solution other than uninstalling it.
I tried disabling it in the pref pane and that didn't fix the issue, so I'm assuming it would need to be uninstalled.
As long as I am able to boot into Windows when needed (which isn't very often), I'm not too concerned.  Its a little inconvenient to have to hold Option during startup to do it, but it works.
Whats annoying too is that when using BootCamp control panel in Windows to restart into OSX, it boots into the emergency partition for Lion instead of Lion.  So, guess holding Option at startup is the only option both ways!
    Thanks for the help.
