  • How to change  FAT to  NFTS for Windows 7  Boot Camp                                                                                  How to change Fat to NFTS on BootCamp for Windows 7

When I try to start BootCamp for Windows 7, I cannot change FAT to NTFS. I have created CDS for BootCamp upgrades 3.1 3.2 and 3.3.
Can't use them with Windows 7 disc in player. What to do?

Boot Camp creates a partition for you to install Windows into. Typically if you chose a size less than 32GB it will initially be FAT32, if bigger it will be NTFS. However what it is, is rather irrelevant. When you install Windows 7 it only allows using NTFS for a boot drive and it will automatically reformat that partition to NTFS if needed.

  • Updated bootcamp for Windows 7

Do you think that Apple will soon release an updated Bootcamp for Windows 7 beta? Version 2.1 is working fine with my MBP but it's getting too hot. I think they still have to fine tune it for Windows 7.

Not until W7 ships. But it would still be nice to see a 2.2 or later version of Boot Camp. By the time W7 is out probably be a year from now and need BC 3.0
W7 is easier on batteries so some have switched from Vista to enjoy longer battery life.

  • Macbook pro and Bootcamp for Windows 7 32bit

looking for advice re setting up Bootcamp with Windows 7 on my new Macbook Pro 13".  Anything to be aware of???
    Cheers

32-bit only uses 3.5 GB RAM max.
Home 64-bit uses at most 16 GB RAM.
Pro 64-bit uses at most 192 GB RAM.
2011 Macbook Pro can handle 16 GB RAM, and iMacs can handle 32 GB RAM.
If you want to be "future proofed", buy 64-bit Pro.
Unless you have already purchased 32-bit and do not want to lose the money invested.

  • A1237 Bootcamp for Windows 7

I have an original Macbook Air (A1237) which is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and also has a partition for Windows 7 Ultimate.  Both OS's run great, however OSX will not allow me to download the Bootcamp tools (Applications > Utilities > Bootcamp > Download tools from the Internet), and the disc (Snow Leopard) in Windows will not allow me to run the Bootcamp setup. It says that it is incompatible with my machine.
The Apple list for which version of Bootcamp Tools to use does not list a version of the tools for my A1237 running Win 7. However XP is no longer supported by M$ and so I am not willing to run XP SP3 on this machine.
Does anyone have any tricks to get bootcamp tools to install in Win7? I really need the ability to Right Click and such!

  • Using Bootcamp for Windows XP Installation

Forgive the irony of asking this question on an Apple forum. I'm planning to use Bootcamp to install Windows XP on my MBP. I have a legitimate WinXP SP2 license currently installed on a desktop PC that I plan to decommission. How do I deauthorize the WinXP installation on my desktop PC? I believe I need to do this before installing the WinXP license on another computer (including a Mac).
Microsoft has been less than helpful with this question. Unfortunately, I need WinXP for one or two applications.
    Thanks for any help!

If the XP install was some time ago, the normal activation may work and you'll not need to call.
I forget the time limit but Microsoft only keeps x number of days the activation information for your computer. This was done as a compromise because of fears that M$ was collecting and holding that information for other purposes.

  • Bootcamp for windows vista

how and where to download "windows support" for the installation of windows vista on my macbookpro(late 2011)?

Only Windows 7 is supported in BootCamp.
You'll have to use virtual machine software to run Vista, then take a performance hit (no 3D games for instance) but it's good for just about everything else.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

  • I have a macbook pro 10.5.8 running bootcamp for Windows XP pro.  Can I update to Snow Leopard?

I am worried that I will loose software that I might not have the install CD's for.  Should I worry about updating?  Thank you.

SuperDuper only handles OSX partitions not BootCamp Windows ones.
Same goes for Time Machine btw. so I wonder how you made backups of your XP files in the past ?
Back in my Boot Camp heydays I used WinClone for my XP which i sadly no longer maintained by the author but still avaiable for  free download Lion App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps
But since I got my new Mac Pro in March I haven't used or install any BootCamp Windows on it.
Others use the Paragon line of tools for their BootCamp Windows backup.

  • Keyboard layount under bootcamp for windows 7

I don't seem to be able to find a layout map of the Windows 7 keyboard for a MacBook pro running under Bootcamp. I would like to know how to print a window and print the screen but would appreciate finding all of the key mapping so I can be more effective in using Windows 7.

  • HT3777 where can i download BootCamp for windows 7?

Where can i download BootCamp in order to install windows 7 on my MacBook PRO?
    thx

It's already on your computer, if not you'll have to reinstall it from the bundled programs installer or Reinstall Just OS X method.

  • HT5891 os x mavericks and bootcamp for windows 7 64 bit

I am currently running Win 7 64-bit in Bootcamp on my OS X 10.8 and it works great. I am connected via fire wire to my old DELL 2007WFP Display and this is allowing my MacBook Pro Retina to really act as a workstation for Revit/Acad 2014.  Questions: will Mavericks be compatible with my current Bootcamp setup?  If not, what version of Bootcamp IS compatible? Will Mavericks preclude me from using my existing second display, as it looks like the mirroring is all wireless with this OS upgrade.  Thanks!

    1st question: yes
    2nd question: no

  • I want to use Bootcamp for Windows 7. Need Help

I want to install Windows 7 onto my Macbook Pro using Leopard software.
I go to Utilities and run Boot Camp Support Software. When I get to the "Download Windows Support Software" I click on "Download the Windows support software for this Mac." When I do, it comes back unable to download the software.
What am I doing wrong, or what other step can I take to download this support software?
    Thanks for any help.
    D

You always need drivers for a computer.
And after Windows is installed, you have to run Setup.exe off your OS X DVD.
Apple has so far failed to provide pre-install drivers except for MacBook Air. And that is what is being referred to - the pre-install part is totally borked.

  • Does Apple actually support bootcamp for windows, and does it make it slower at all?

Well I need to know if Apple does support Windows 7/boot camp because I need both but this seams the easiest way? but I still want my MacBook Pro to run at the same speed, and will not heat up? and if something does happen to the software it will still come under to warranty not, breach it.

  • Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP

    Hi,
I'm getting lost of this update, the package of this update downloaded from Apple, which is a BCUpdateXP.exe of Windows Executable File, I have been try to run it in Mac OS and Window XP, but both are failed, does any one got this experience and how to figure out it ?

When in Windows only. An .exe won't do anything inside OS X.
First, pop in your Leopard DVD, install BootCamp drivers there.
Run the new Apple Software Update in Windows after restart.
You may or may not need to use the standalone manual update of BootCamp 2.1, depending on when you bought your system, you could have later drivers already installed.
ASU control panel or application is part of Apple BootCamp for Windows, inside Windows (XP/Vista).

  • Bootcamp - Seems there is no Support for Windows 8.1 once it is loaded. Just got off the Microsoft Help line and they refused to help me because I was running Win 8.1 in Bootcamp. Where do I go for help?

Bootcamp - Seems there is no Support from Microsoft  for Windows 8.1, once it is loaded.
I Just got off the Microsoft Technical Help line (Australia ph132058) and they refused to help me because I am running Win 8.1 in Bootcamp.
I have the latest Mac Book Pro Retina with a 1TB Solid State Hard drive running Win 8.1, beautiful machine, but its slower than my old MBP running windows 7 on a standard Drive.
The niggiling problem is that it seems to hang up for seven or 8 seconds on menial tasks........ like generating a new Folder or Note etc. Otherwise it runs reasonably well but not blindingly fast....
I wasn't aware Microsoft refused to help win 8.1 users on the Mac Platform........ shouldn't this Information be made more public...! Seems they are keen to drive potential Windows users away!!
Any suggestions on where I should go for help on this (Windows/Bootcamp in General) would be much appreciated ? ........ don't mind paying a reasonable price if the service is good......
I guess the wheel has turned and Microsoft are having a go at Apple again...?
    Many thanks ....... Martin V

    Thanks Turbostar.
I was thinking along the same lines. I installed Win 8.0 Pro and upgraded to 8.1 ........ probably a bad move.
I have bought a new 8.1 Licence but cant risk doing a complete reinstall until I have a back up machine ready. (My old MBP is getting a new hard drive) ......... so will give that a go in about a weeks time when the back up is in place. Cant risk having nothing!
When you say "Clean Install" ..... do you mean everything ..... as in Reformat the Bootcamp sector and start from scratch.?
I have a 2 TB LaCie Thunderbolt drive with my back up data on ..... is there a way to make the Reinstall process and large amount of Data transfer easy?
The reinstall is something I need to read up on. I was hoping the solution might be some kind of Tune up on the SSHD.
Good to hear you have a number of MBP's that are flying, I would be disappointed if the final quality wasnt a bit better.
..... do you have any tips on screen Res on the Retina ..... I am running Windows at 125% Zoom, but the Bluetooth, power, wireless, Date Icons etc are all still tiny ...... could really do with an alternative to the old "Advanced Appearance Settings"
    cheers ..... Martin V
