BOOTCAMP GONE!!! :(

I installed bootcamp and windows on my mac, but after it was installed i deleted bootcamp...now there is not enough memory to do anything on my mac and i can't uninstall windows without bootcamp...does anybody know how to uninstall windows??

I was afraid of that. You didn't use Boot Camp Assistant.app to restore your disc to a singe volume. Now that space is still taken up with windows data but can't be used. Under the same Utilities folder open *Disk Utility*. Does it still show the windows partition? What does it have under your main drive. Go ahead and run *Disk Verify* while your there.

  • Windows in bootcamp gone after software update

My computer is MacBook Air 11-inch, mid2011 128gb
I was using windows in bootcamp but when I recently upgraded the os to OS X mavericks 10.9.4 it was gone.
Also at the same time the computer doesn't read my external hard disk anymore which was working perfectly fine before.
I have no idea how to cope with these problems.
    Please help me !

Thank you so much for answering
    sorry for all the korean
bootcamp is in grey and it says not mounted
does that mean the windows is just gone?
Theres no way that i can recover them as before?

  • Bootcamp gone wrong!!! Wont load on windows

think the version of xp ive used to bootcamp my mac is the service pack one. its gone through the installation but wont open the windows support for mac, so i cant install bootcamp. How do I uninstall it? Or how do i get back to mac OS, so i can delete the partition?

In OSX, start the bootcamp assistant and remove the partition, then start again, XP service pack 1 is not supported, if this is a new (2011) Mac then XP is not supported at all.
Do yourself a favor and install Win7

  • Bootcamp gone horribly wrong, Mac HD GONE

So I was installing Windows XP via bootcamp, and chose Drive C to format it in , but that was weird cause it didnt show any of the usual other drives, so i selected it.
After it was done installing it did the usual reboot, and after it rebooted all i get is a white screen.
I rebooted it again holding down the option key to select which partition to boot from and... ALL PARTITIONS WERE GONE
The Mac HD partition was gone, all I saw was the installation disc.
So i thought i would just reformat the whole drive and reinstall Leopard, but while i was doing that, when it gets to the step "Select a destination to install Mac OS X" Nothing is listed and it cant continue the installation.
So from the installer cd I went to Disk Utilities and confirmed that the Mac HD was gone and Windows partition from bootcamp mightve went over it and wiped it.And I cant even use that windows partition that was called "disk0" cause apparently is was formatted incorrectly.
I cant create a new partition on disk utilities either cause the buttons are greyed out.
What shall I do? I'm at an utter lost

Oh I tried looking up my HD info using the disk utilities info button and this is what i got.
The Macintosh HD partition got replaced with the Windows NTFS Partition named 'disk0' and didnt even format properly.

  • Bootcamp gone wrong, confused

okay, so I was going to install Windows XP pro, I partitioned the disk, and went to install XP, once the CD check was done it prompted me to press enter to continue, I pressed enter about 15 times but it didn't do anything (the CD stopped spinning too), I then forced the computer to shut down, but it wouldn't boot to OS X anymore, it kept asking for the windows installation.
As a last ditch effort I popped the linux ubuntu 7.10 and it began the installation, as I type this the installation is finalizing.
so here's the question, How do I boot back into OS X? is my OS X Partition deleted, if so, how I do get it back?

oh and when I try to press OPTION, the OS X grey screen is on with a Lock on it with a small input bar and an arrow next to it, I figured that was OF (Open firmware) so I type in the password, but to no avail, I'm so lost, can I take it to the apple store to reformat it back to OS X?

  • Failed to install windows xp with bootcamp - everything's gone

    Hi everyone,
I'm a new mac user, and not very familiar with snow leopard..
Because of work I need to use windows once in a while, therefore I tried to install XP using bootcamp. I did the disk partitioning, and created a windows disk. During the installation there was only one disk I could choose... It was the disk on which Mac OS was installed. Now everything's gone. Stupid me.
I just tried to re-install snowleopard with the installation disk. I pressed C during start up and now it shows the apple icon together with 'busy icon' for the last 15 minutes.
    What am I doing wrong?

reboot and hold option at the chime. this should boot you into startup disk manager where you can choose to boot from the SL dvd.

    Thanks for your help...

The gap between GPT3 and GPT4 (roughly 80GB) is where you should be able to find your 'lost' Windows partition.
Can you look at Bootcamp disk0s4 gone after Yosemite update and get started with Testdisk to look for it?

I am planning to format my Retina MacBook Pro. However, I have a bootcamp partition. If I were to format my Mac, will the bootcamp drive be gone too?

It all depends on what you do.
If you reformat the partition containing OS X then nothing will happen to the BootCamp partition.
If the other hand you reformat the whole disk then it will be gone.
Why do you think you need to reformat the drive?

  • The bar icon for downloading that appears next to "trash" and the "bootcamp" icon are gone.   How do I get them back?

This format confuses me.   I intended to simply ask a question but then this discussion window opened up and my question appears as though it were a topic.
Can we ask a question without beginning a discussion?   Then I am chided for trying to post a "blank message".   I am only asking a question.   What is all this talk of messages anyway?
My question is:   The icon next to "trash" that shows downloading is gone.  The bootcamp icon is also gone.   How do I get them both back.
    Thanks

    Welcome,
If you are refering to the Dock Icon which showed you your Downloads folder then open a Finder Window on your Home folder and drag the Downloads folder to the dock. It will create an Icon for the folder.
Not sure about the Bootcamp icon, don;t use it but if there is a Bootcamp folder the procedure should be the same.
    regards
BTW Starting a discussion is the same as asking a question.

  • I upgraded to Lion and now my bootcamp/windows option is either gone or inaccessible....what happened? how do I fix it?

I downloaded and installed Lion, now there doesn't appear to be a bootcamp/windows option.  I thought it would install on the Mac partition, and the program didn't ask anything...just went and did the installation.  Is the Windows side gone, or is it just hiding?

    * In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Paritioning with Bootcamp,200 GB of space is gone

I was trying to use bootcamp to install windows on my macbook pro (early 2008) , when it got to partition, it stayed at the same window for more than 30 mins, so I thought it was frozen and cancelled it. Later i realized 200 GB of my disk space, which was the amount that I was going to use for windows,  was gone. Couldnt find it anywhere, tried disk utility, nothing showed there. Tried to use bootcamp to get it back but seems like nothing i could do with it.
Could anybody tell me whats going on?
    Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your GUID partition map which stores partition information wasn't updated properly
Erase, formatting, OS X installs on Mac's
First install Carbon Copy Cloner into OS X and get yourself a blank powered external drive.
    http://www.bombich.com/
How to safely download and install programs
Format the drive in Disk Utility Options: GUID  Format: OS X Extended Journaled
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your boot drive to the external drive.
When finished reboot holding the option key down, you can boot from the clone and check it out.
Reboot, disconnect the external drive and hold the Command option and r keys down on your hopefully fast Internet connection, you will download Internet Recovery from Apple.
In Disk Utility select your entire drive at the top, should have the drive makers name and disk size.
Click on Erase and select the next to last on the right slider option, wait a hour to complete.
Check the drive is GUID and OS X Extended Journaled
Connect the clone and reboot holding the option key down to boot from it.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to reverse clone onto the internal drive.
Reboot and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on both drives.
Use System Preferences > Startup Manager to make sure your booting from the internal OS X boot drive.
    Most commonly used backup methods
That will fix your problem, prevent glitches with Bootcamp partition that likely occurred and also shift all your OS X data to the top of the hard drive (if you have one) so the maximum free space is available for Bootcamp partition.
Make sure you have read all the instructions for Bootcamp install, also it only supports Windows 7 with a retail disk

  • Bootcamp Control Panel Gone (Windows 7 System Tray)

After I installed Windows 7 64-bit using bootcamp, I had a system tray icon for the Bootcamp Control Panel. It recently disappeared and I can't get it to appear back. Without the control panel running properly, it looks like the volume keys, backlit keyboard, etc don't work anymore in Windows.
I have tried the things I could find in these forums and through online searches but nothing has worked:
    1) Uninstall and then reinstall Bootcamp drivers and controll panel program using the OSX install DVD. I installed "Boot Camp Update for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) (Windows 64 bit)"
    2) Using msconfig to confirm Bootcamp was in the start up program list (it was already in the list so I unchecked it, rebooted, then checked it again, an rebooted)
    3) Running Bootcamp.exe in Windows Vista compatibility mode
    4) Checking my registry for the entry being there correctly (it was)
    5) Customising the "notification area icons" to make bootcamp have the "Show icon and notifications" behavior.
None of these things worked. For additional information, I see that Bootcamp.exe is in the Windows task manager process list so it seems to be running.
How anyone found a solution to get the control panel system tray working again?
    Thank you!

    Hi Flying High,
Thanks for the response. The little gray square for the Boot Camp Manager has shown up in the notification area before (accessible through the little arrow on the right side of the screen), but the problem is that it doesn't show up anymore.
I just tried uninstalling Boot Camp and all the drivers, and then reinstalling it again from the DVD and using the "Boot Camp Update for MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010 (Windows 64 bit)"...
The little gray square for the Boot Camp Manager showed up after the first reboot and the function keys worked (like volume control), but when I rebooted again, the notification manager didn't show up and none of the function keys work anymore. So back to square one.
Has anyone had this problem with the Boot Camp Manager showing up in the notification ares only after the initial installation but not after reboots?
    Thank you!

  • Bootcamp disk0s4 gone after Yosemite update

Hey everybody. Got a question for Loner_T.
I'm in the same boat, changed my BootCamp partition size and ended up not being able to boot it anymore since upgrading to Yosemite.
I'd like to know if I should go with the testdisk, GDT fdisk, gdisk solution or not. I'm stuck at actually identifying the correct start/end of my BC partition and I'm really looking to redo the whole partition and reinstall Windows 7. Btw, if I recover the partition, will I not have the same problem when I upgrade from Yosemite to the next OS X iteration?

Test 1 - Does Bootcamp Volume show up in Finder?
Test 2 - Can you see files in Bootcamp Volume?
Test 3 - Can you select Bootcamp in System Preferences -> Startup Disk?
Test 4 - If Test 3 is successful, select Bootcamp and Click Restart
If you see a hanging underline cursor at the top left on a black screen, and it does not proceed further, you may need Windows Startup Repair or a tool called EasyBCD.
Test 1 through 4 GTG. The only difference is that I used the option-key to boot in Windows 7.
As expected, I get the black screen with blinking cursor.
Next step is to execute the Startup repair. Any guidance to offer? Or software to use? My superdrive is being replaced with the original HDD in the bay. I could reinstall the superdrive to use a CD/DVD, but would rather use a USB stick if possible.
Thx so far, I'm hopeful now!
