Bootcamp help

I have recently installed windows xp on my computer using bootcamp. i have no issue going back and forth between the two or anything like that, but when i'm in windows, i have no internet connection. i'm starting a new thread for this b/c even though i see a lot of people have this issue, i am not using wireless. i have a broadband high speed modem that connects to my computer. i can only find the osx disc 2 for installation, so that's the only thing i haven't done since i can't find disc 1. if that is the reason i can't connect to the internet in windows, is there a driver or something i can download since i don't have the disc? OR if that is not the issue, does anyone know what is?

ndebo03:
That is exactly the issue. You need to install the boot camp drivers that came with your Leopard installation CD/DVD. It contains all the windows hardware drivers necessary for everything to work as designed.
To the best of my knowledge, these drivers can only legally be obtained and installed from the Leopard Installation disk. The version is 2.0. After the first installation one can then update to new version of the drivers via Apple Software Update.

  • Windows 7 on iMac using Bootcamp**HELP**

I've been trying to install Windows 7 on my 2011 iMac (i3 core). The internal superdrive no longer works - it only accepts CDs - when ever I insert a DVD it gets ejected after a few moments. This iMac is out of warranty and no AppleCare was ever purchased.
I've also tried creating a bootable USB iso, but when ever I go through the Bootcamp process and the computer restarts to begin the Windows install process I get the message 'Insert Boot disc and press any key to continue'. For some reasons it doesn't see the USB iso. I've also tried using a Seagate 250G FreeAgent drive I had laying around by turning it into a bootable iso, but had the same 'no boot disc' issue.
I purchased an external DVD drive (Samsung), but again when I go through the Bootcamp process and the iMac restarts to begin the Windows install I get the same no bootable disc even though the windows install DVD is inserted in the external DVD drive.
I'm at my whits end and frustrated with Apple... this iMac is under 3 years old!
    Any help with this install...?

Holding alt key does bring up the choices, but I never see the bootable USB or external DVD drive as options... I only see the 2 partitions - the main iMac and the partition created by Bootcamp to install windows.

  • Installing Windows 7 On Bootcamp - help

I was looking around on tutorials for this, but it says you need a MAC OS Installation disc?!?! I use a iMac 27inch and it did not come with such a disc.
Could you clarify that I can install Windows 7 with my iMac with what I have...
    bootcamp
    Windows 7 64-bit disc
Thanks. Also a tutorial video or article of some sort in using bootcamp to install Windows 7 would be appreciated.

  • Programming for College with Windows Apps on bootcamp HELP?

Hello everyone I come to you for help after a long search for the perfect laptop.
Right now I am using a macbook late 2009 with multitouch. I love the features but after signing up for some programming classes for college I had to revise what laptop I should own.
My question is if I'll be able to program on bootcamp with Windows 7 with windows applications like Dev C++, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, an assembler and the like with 100% compatibility?
I am on a very low income but I think that Apple really gets it when it comes to mobile laptops. I haven't found anything comparable to a Macbook anywhere. I've seen some imitations like the HP Envy but when you look closely they do not come close.
Laptop PC makers just don't get it with their 2 hour battery life, "Desktop replacements" and heavy laptops. What is the point of all that if it's not mobile.
I can only own one laptop and I will upgrade to a 15 inch because I need the screen real state. I'm hoping that the answer will be YES to compatibility with programming applications on Windows 7.
One last thing, I've heard of Xcode but college teaches on Windows Applications, there is no way around it. I need to use what everyone else is using right now.
    Thank you all.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
running Windows with BootCamp on a Mac is like running Windows on any other given computer.
Those programs you mentioned shouldn't give you any kind of problems.
Only very low-level BIOS and/or hardware programming (in assembler) can arise problems due to some differences between Macs and 'other' PCs (like the lack of a full BIOS support).
Other than that you're good to go.
    Have Fun

  • Bootcamp help needed

    hey,
i have a mackbook pro ( late 2010 model 15") and now i want to dual boot mac osX whit win7.
i have seen many video's and read all kinds of walktruoghs but i keep havving this probblem.
every time i try to partitionate my hard drive i blocks at about 40% i have waited for about 2 hours but nothing happens.
can someone help me? ( sry for my bad english )

    Repair the drive with Disk Utility from your OS X DVD;
Or backup; boot from backup or DVD, and ERASE the drive (format/initialize), and then restore.
Windows 7 needs about 40GB to operate, maybe more if you plan to do much.
The Windows 7 update to SP1 out now needs 9GB just to install itself temporarily.

Hi I also have the same problem on a 1.87 MacBook Pro 1 GB RAM with firmware updated and OSX updated as specified by BootCamp. Unable to install just out of the box windows XP home edition. Same error. "Session3initializationfailed"

  • Bootcamp HELP installing windows7

Hi. I've created a windows 7 disk on my usb.
I've done bootcamp but after bootcamp assistant finishes and when
the computer restarts it says "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" on a black screen.
Now im wondering I should have my usb format on "MS-DOS (FAT)" or Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
I've also read some articles saying that i should hold down the option key after the chime, but after i did it it just shows up my hard drive and recovery disk.
    Im using OS X 10.8.
    any help?

Create the USB with Bootcamp Assistant and if it's 8GB or bigger you can download the support drivers to the same device. That should work, assuming your Mac can boot from a USB.

  • BootCamp help/file

I am running an OS X 10.5.8 Mac and I cannot seem to find the boot-camp assistant in my utilities, is there any way to download the file that would be usable with my mac?
I just found a use for it, but it appears the file is missing

These are the system requirements. If you have a PPC then it will not have Boot Camp Assistant.
Intel-based Mac with a minimum of 2GB RAM
Around 50GB of free hard drive space. ITCS will partition your drive (unless you have an extra drive) so that Windows is 32GB so you'll need to determine how much space will be needed to run your other Mac applications. If you run Photoshop or any media software, you may want to consider upgrading the drive (external drives will not work using just Boot Camp). These applications need as much of your free drive space as possible to function. This size was determined to help standardize the software being installed.
    2-button mouse
OS X.5 or higher and all updates run
The original DVDs that came with the Intel Mac. These are necessary as they contain the BootCamp drivers.

  • Bootcamp help on my MBP

    hey guys,
i recently installed xp corp (sp2) on my pro. instal went fine and all hwoever when i went to install the drivers from teh cd bootcamp makes, the keybaord/touch pad and usb stuff all stopped working. i've restarted win and nothing, no usb devices at all (including built in kb adn touchpad)
Anyone have any idea whats up? i cant evne tab around, sine the KB doesn't work!
    any help woudl be appriciated:)
    thanks

I would have to agree with Jens on that one. Something obviously went wrong. If it wasn't for the keyboard not working you could probably solve the issues in device manager and get it working, but with no keyboard, mouse, touch pad there doesn't seem to be a lot of alternatives.
Just out of curiosity was the XP2 a clean version or did it come from a previous laptops? I did have an issue the first time I tried boot camp with a version that came with a Dell and it seemed to want to use proprietary Dell drivers and created Dell folders etc. I did this because I was lazy and didn't want to slip stream my older XP SP1 to SP2, but that's the route I took the second try and all went well.

  • Installing Windows 7 using bootcamp help

    Hi all,
I am planning to install windows 7 using bootcamp to play PC games only, as love mac software for everything else, and want to make sure that all will run smoothly before i buy the required stuff.
I am running OSX 10.8.5 on my iMac, which has a wireless keyboard, wireless trackpad, and wireless mouse, and a connected external superdireve (for CD's and disks, sorry to patronise just wanting to be clear ) and wanted to know if i can install windows using a disk that i buy in a normal pack, as i have heard that the external drives can have problems?
    All advice much appreciated!

this will install as normal. before installing however you will need an activation key cos in win 7 this is one of the first pages that is presented before instalation.
the key from your relative could possibly work especially if he used your internet connection to register. but this could cause problems with his/your authenticity after 30 days.
the only other option is to purchase a key.
you say a 30 day trial, does it give you a temporary key for this?

  • Can't Install Windows Bootcamp, HELP!

Hello, I can't seem to install windows 7/8 via Bootcamp. I have used various Images including the official ISO, and have created bootable USB/DVD's via my PC using Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. Yet I always end up with the same error once in installation: " Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x8007057 " (I also get the same error on VituralBox UNLESS I am using the official ISO and then it installs flawlessly, but I have used the official ISO with Bootcamp and No Luck.)
P.S, I was told to "Unlock" the "Create Windows 7 install disk" and then use the official ISO (That worked with VituralBox), Would that work?
    Thanks In Advanced.

  • Bluetooth keyboard and booting up bootcamp - HELP!

    Hello
I recently decided to upgrade to a apple bluetooth keyboard.
The problem is that when i try to boot up into bootcamp the keyboard is not detected meaning i can hold ALT to go to the OS selection screen.
I am using a Bluetooth dongle since apple decided to make things difficult and stop selling the bluetooth module in store.
    Thanks in advance.

I've been strugling with the exact same problem. I haven't gotten the wirelss one to work often in selecting boot drive, but I have always gotten my USB non-apple keyboard to work. Recently I started to really trouble shoot it. I tried another wireless apple keyboard (the one prior to the mini) and it didn't work either. I decided then to call apple care and see their opinion. Sadly, they asked me to take my keyboards in (which I thought was silly considering probability). So then I tested my mini-keyboard on another mac and...it worked flawlessly. There is obviously and issue with either a - the mac pro and bluetooth startup time (maybe it is initializing our devices after the window to hold the key) or b - we just have completely messed up bluetooth chips and it would be an issue regardless of being on the MP. Either way, this is irritating.
