Bootcamp - I might have suffered some grave issues!! HELP!!!
Hey guys,
So, with the use of BootCamp, I attempted to install Windows XP Pro on one of my internal drives - one which wasn't being used.
I was under the impression that I'd be able to run two operating systems - OSX on main drive, Windows on another.
However, this doesn't seem to have worked. Although Windows installed fine on the other drive, there's no way of getting to OSX?
When I reboot, it only goes to Windows. If I take the 'Windows' drive out (leaving the OSX one in) it just says that there is 'No boot disk'...in a very 'Windows' way.
I've tried rebooting with my OSX installation disk in, but still comes up with the same.
What can I do?!!!
oh, and by the way...some more info...
I've tried holding the Option button on startup, without prevail. Also, the version of Windows I used, was Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 - one, which seems to be supported.
It would be annoying to have to reinstall OSX, but don't really mind doing it - if I could actually do so, but don't seem to be able to.
I'm worried!

i have a macbook pro. i think i might have pushed some buttons that made my macbook look for a wireless keyboard.. i dont have any wireless keyboard. and now i cant use the keyboard on my macbook. how can i get the normal keyboard staring?

it pops up a script were it says that the macbook cannot find a bluetooth keyboard, and it isnt a keyboard connected
For some reason, your Mac doesn't recognise that a keyboard is present, so it looks for a wireless keyboard. The question is, why doesn't your Mac recognise that a keyboard is attached?
First, you need to make sure you remove all peripherals, especially USB peripherals (the keyboard is on the USB bus). Then restart holding down the Shift key. This should boot in Safe mode. If the computer boots normally (not in safe mode) and the keyboard is still not working, try resetting the SMC
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

If that still doesn't fix the problem, then the keyboard (or its controller) is probably damaged and needs to be replaced. -
My 8 month old son corroded my USB cable by chewing on the ipod connector. Not realizing this, I come in, plug in my ipod, and get an error that the USB cable is corrupted. I unplug ipod and look at the cable. The part that goes into the ipod is green and crusty...definitely corroded. SO, i go buy a new cable: Dynex dock cable from Best Buy. Just plugged it in, and nothing happened, except my pc is charging my ipod. But no communication from the computer to the ipod. Nothing in windows, or itunes. My ipod still works fine in any other playback dock, it just doesn't allow data transfers from pc to ipod. HELP!!! Is my ipod f'd???????
If you dare you could try cleaning the connector on the ipod - I would try some denatured alcohol on a tiny bit of clean cloth over the end of a really small screwdriver or knife. Carefully wipe both sides of the male connector blade that you can see in the connector port.
You could also try simply plugging /unplugging the cable many times - the wiping action may clean the crud off. Blow on the connectors or use compressed air while you are doing it for good measure.
If you are near an Apple store you could take it to them and have them try it with an Apple brand cable - that may have a better chance of making good contact.
Good luck. I knew baby spit was nasty but I didn't think it was actually corrosive! -
Having some serious issues, help would be appreciated :)
For the past week or so my MacBook Pro has been shutting itself off, the strange thing is the lights under the keyboard stay on but the on light doesnt. Below is the error code that comes up whenever i restart it:

So you might find updating your video card driver (always from the card maker's website) fixes your problem. Otherwise, trying different settings in Preferences > Performance tab, like changing PGU Advanced settings from Advanced to basic does the job.
See if that makes a difference, and come back if still stuck. -
I might have really wrecked my iPhoto - Help!
Hi, I was trying to manually install the iphoto keyword assistant, and got my folder structure confused. I replaced the info.plist, macOS, and resources files/folders in the root 'Contents' folder after showing the package iPhoto app. I know this is bad news, but what can I do? I don't see the replaced files/folders in the trash...
Garreth
If you can't see the files in the trash, it may be because you overwrote them. I think a re-install of the app is called for.
Trash the app and then trash the receipt in HD/Library/Receipts

I am experiencing some major problems with my MacBook Pro. I have had some issues with it turning on/off at random times, but today, when starting, I get the grey start-up screen and a recovery bar. After filling in approx 1/4 of the way, the machine dies. After starting it in recovery mode, it will not allow me to download OS X Mavericks- it says the disk is locked. Any ideas? I do not have a back-up and do not want to erase everything before I have explored my options. Help?
try forcing internet recover, hold 3 keys - command, option, r - you should see a spinning globe
most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard) -
Hi, We are trying to get a client to communicate with the primary Config Manager Site System(MP/DP).
We have a Config Manager Client Template that was setup using this guide.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682023.aspx
We have a Client Cert on the primary site system server (primary config manager server) based on this template and it meets the requirements specified in this document
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg699362.aspx
Enhanced Key Usage value must contain
Client Authentication (1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.2).
Client computers must have a unique value in the Subject Name field or in the Subject Alternative Name field.
SHA-1and SHA-2 hash algorithms are supported.
Maximum supported key length is 2048 bits.
The Cert that we generated for the client meets the same requirements and shows the exact same template id but has a different subject name and alternate name (which is the clients machine name).
With this setup, we still get the following error
Certificate [Thumbprint SOME THUMBPRINT] issued to 'CLientMachineName' doesn't have private key or caller doesn't have access to private key.
Both the site system and client have the same trusted root cert installed.
What are we missing or what can we check? Does the cert check process only need the client certs on both the site system and the client to be from the same template?

when opening safari i get a message that says major security issue please contact apple immediately suspicious activity might have been detected. what is this and how do i get rid of it so i can use my internet?
A misleading and malicious popup. Launch Safari with the Shift key held down; if that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

Okay, I have read some of the issues here
Okay, I have read some of the issues here and I am scratching my head. I have my PC hard wired to a Linksys WRT G router and my Mac is connected wirelessly to it just fine. Now, my computers don't seem to see each other on the network. Pretend I am a a complete novice and step me through telling me how to network to share the CD files, documents and pics that I have on my PC with my MAC.
I have the sharing enabled on both the MAC and the PC and I had this working at one point but something went haywire and all was lost. I have since reset my router and re-established the wireless connection between the PC and MAC.
When I click on the Finder and click on Network, my PC is no longer in there like it was before.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank,
DaveI'm just getting setup myself. Is your mac sensing the wireless network? And if so can you surf and check your email on the mac wirelessly?

After updating my 4S to iOS 5.1.1 last night, none of my data applications are working today, nor Siri, iMessage or anything of the like. I'm at a loss as to what might have caused it. Is anyone else having this issue/has anyone found a fix? Everything seems to work fine if I connect to wireless, but if I'm not connected to it then nothing is working. My service provider says everything should be working fine, I still have the 3G symbol and full bars.
Somebody clearly hasn't read the User Guide.
Basic troubleshooting steps are retart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If you have tried ALL of these steps and you're still having problems, then you need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation. -
Hi, I had recently purchased ipad3 and but obviously have been having issues with heating up and some minor issues with video playback etc. Apple has agreed to replace my device. Have also heard that the ipad3 revamped version is around along with the mini pad rumor..too much information - lot's of confusion pls helpLindsay,
Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard. -
I have purchased my i phone 5 one month back, unfortunately I have got some hardware problem like some part has been broken from inside, but the phone works without any issue, Did anybody face this issue?
If you believe there is a hardware problem, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

My iphone 4s has some serious issues. After clicking some youtube link, my photos, settings icon, app store icon and safari icon and many more apps have been deleted. My iphone is useless since last 4 weeks. I cant do anything without these missing apps. please help.
If it was just my router then my own network would kick in wouldn't it?
No. Not even sure what you mean by that. The phone is trying to access particular IP addresses on the internet, which don't exist on "my own network."
plus all my internet items at home running on my wifi are doing fine
No again. The fact that your router works with other devices doesn't mean it's compatible with the iPhone. Did you even try restarting and updating the router as suggested? -
I recently upgraded my IMac to Lion and have found that my mail account does not include a "mail trash" category similar to "mail sent", making it difficult to retrieve mails I might have sent to trash but find I need some information from. I've searched in settings and preferences and cant seem to find a way to add "Trash" to my Mail categories/folders.
