Bootcamp icon is lost on Mac Desktop

I used to reach al my dcument in Windows 7 by bootcamps. Unfortunatly, today the bootcamp ıcon has lost on mac desktop and can not reach my documents in windows 7. However, when ı use windows 7  can reach all my documents in mac.
Do you think ı deleted the ıcon or it is deleted because ı made wrong updates or donwloads?

Click on the Desktop. From the Finder menu select Preferences. Check the boxes for what you want on your Desktop. If they are already checked, then try unchecking and rechecking.

Question:  I am new to LR and have it set up on a Mac desktop and laptop.  On the laptop, the Basic function under Develop simply disappeared.  I am lost.  Help.

It's a common issue. The Basic panel is merely hidden.
Hiding/unhiding panels is actually a feature of Lightroom but it is unintuitive - few people know it exists - so most newcomers are thrown when a panel somehow gets hidden.
Right-click anywhere in the right hand side panel area and a context menu will appear.
Click the Basic option to make the Basic panel re-appear.

  • I have connected my new Macbook Air to my existing Samsung large external monitor with a VGA adaptor but I can't get the full mac desktop to display. No icons but then websites are coming up. Help!

I have connected my new Macbook Air to my existing Samsung large external monitor with a VGA adaptor but I can't get the full mac desktop to display. No icons but then websites are coming up. Help!  Further info:  I am a complete newbie to Mac.  Had three macs prior to 2000 then four PCs.  Just come back and struggling a bit with the unfamiliarity. On my old PC laptop I could simply switch from the laptop screen to the large external monitor (and back)  with the F4 function key.  While I can get the background image from my MBA to display, that's it.  Until I noticed on the far left of the external monitor, the very edge of one of the web pages I was on.  So Idragged it over to display in the centre.  But that's all that's there.  And now I have gone out of those web pages but they are still displaying on the monitor.  There is some wierd disconnect.  I'm sure it is just a setting thing.  Will keep searching for answer but any advice welcome!

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
Let me know if this worked for you.

  • HT1338 how do I update my icon on my Mac desktop?

How do I update my icon on my Mac Desktop?

I can only surmise you are running 10.6.6 or later, since the Mac App Store became available then.  Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and tell us your Mac OS X version.    Some Mac OS X versions could have their icons changed, while others could not.   I can get a moderator to move this thread to the correct forum once I know your version and know whether or not I can answer this question.

  • Virtual PC 7 hid the mac desktop icons in Windows--how do you restore this?

Hi there...hoping someone knows where one would be able to restore this setting this as I'm unable to locate anything through the preferences nor find any solutions in the user guide or online here in the group discussions.
I have a client who is using an ibook G4 with VPC and her Mac icons disppeared from the Windows desktop after a popup window appeared and asked if she wanted to hide something and she accidentally clicked yes now the Mac icons are no longer visible on the desktop.
    Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi there...thank you for the excellent help!
With the Windows full-screen open press the command
key so that the dock and the upper window will show
up. Then, with the key still pressed, go to PC >
    Windowed mode.

I thought the disk utility icon on the desktop may be related to my old software. I was going to move it totrash but it had over 2000 files and so I did know if it was still being used or could be moved to trash.
What kind of files are in there? Sounds like a carry over from your last system. DiskUtility should only be kept in Utilities with a shortcut in the dock or an alias on the desktop, idealy.

  • Problems : Putting an icon on a Mac desktop

Hi (Sorry for this poor english, I'm French)
I have a problem with some JNLP and Mac OS X.
I have a JNLP file working fine on Windows NT (2000, XP). The software deploys, an icon is set on the desktop and a link is put in the start menu. When it comes to mac, the system deploys, and the Jnlp file is saved on the desktop. Everything is fine, appart from the point that I can't manage to put a link on the desktop to launch the application.
Also, I want my application to be launched at the startup of the OS. I more or less managed under windows by putting a link in the startup menu. But is there any other solution? And any ways to get it to work on Mac OS X?

I'd suggest using getResource with some local class to get your full URL and use that in the ImageIcon constructor call.
java.net.URL imgURL = <your class name>.class.getResource("/background.gif");That should work with a jar file as well as with a plain file.

  • Just got my first Mac desktop. How in the world do you make an icon?

Just got my first Mac desktop.  Cannot figure out how to make a favored website an icon.  Seems like it should be simple, but am evidently having a brain cramp.  Any help would be appreciated.

Drag the tiny icon for it to the left of its name in the browser's address bar to the desktop or to the right of the Dock's divider line as desired.

  • How to boot to Windows XP from Mac Desktop

    Hi
I have just installed Lepard/BootCamp/Windows XP and am wondering how to get to Windows from Mac when I'm logged on to Mac. I can access it via System Preferences but end up resetting my start up preferences to Windows in order to reboot from there. When I installed Windows it put a folder on my Mac Desktop that has the windows info -- does anyone know how to quickly reboot to Windows? On the XP side, there is a boot camp icon in system tray that allows you to choose to boot over to Mac from there. But not on the Mac side. Apple Tech Support told me there must be an easier way than going through the Sys Pref startup options but he was unable to find it. Suggested I try here. Any hep appreciated!

I know about the Option key ... when I power on the computer and hold that down, it gives me the option to choose one OS or the other, instead of going to the one I've set in Sys Pref startup ...
My question is when I have the Mac OS running and want to go to Windows ... the only way I seem to be able to do it is go back into Sys Pref and change the startup OS to windows. It will then give me the option to restart and go there right now, which will get me into Windows but at the cost of resetting the preferred startup OS.
On the Windows side there is the option to set the start up OS as well, so maybe that's the key? I wondered why you would need to set it on both sides, or have the ability. Maybe that's it! There has to be a better way to go from Mac to Windows than via the Sys Pref option.

  • How do i repair or recover data from a corrupt USB external hard drive that does not show up on my Mac desktop or disk utility

How do i repair or recover data from a corrupt USB external hard drive that does not show up on my Mac desktop or disk utility?
Last night i was using my external hard drive, for some reason the folder just closed and i couldn't find it on my desktop.
After googling solutions, i found it in the disk utilities, i clicked on the 'repair' button many times, but it said the 'error...' message.
So i ejected it to try again, now when i connect the USB external hard drive it doesn't show up on my desktop or disk utilities.
I really just want to either repair or recover the data on it because it literally has everything (documents, work files, photos etc) on it,
I downloaded an application to recover my files but it needs the USB to at least show up.recognise it which mine doesn't.
I know i should've backed it up on another USB, this definitely teaches me for next time to back up all my files.
Are the files lost forever or can i recover them by going to a shop or using a software?

    Thank you for responding.
This might sound stupid since i'm not really knowledgeable with Macs,
but since all my files were moved from my mac computer to the external hard drive,
is it possible to recover those files through my Mac - like recovering deleted files?

  • Creating a Shortcut on a Mac Desktop

Hi everyone. I'm sure this has a very simple answer, but me being a newbie to using a
Mac computer, I need some help.  I've set up a server for my home network with a
    Static IP of 192.168.2.10 .
It was simple to create shortcuts for my computer and my sister's, because I've used
Microsoft since it was DOS, and my sister's is Windows XP.  I simply created a shortcut
and then typed in the network address, it being "\\192.168.2.10\Music" in Windows.
But my mom has a Mac, and I need to create an alias (I think it's called) that would lead
to the server from it.  I've searched all through the internet, and all I can find is something
    to the effect of this:
    1. Launch your Finder and look for the program that you want to create the alias for.
    2. Highlight this file and select "Make Alias".
    3. Drag the Alias to the desktop.
My problem is that there is not an icon displayed that links to the server.
Is there some kind of Properties box where I can manually enter the network path?

    Hi,
First off, putting stuff (links/aliases, files, folders) on a Mac Desktop is not good practice, because it leads to some extra work on the CPU, since the Desktop is a folder like others, OS X will index all its content every time your Mom starts her Mac.
This said, the best way to make an alias easy to use is to place it in the Dock via drag-n-drop, not on the Desktop. If placed in the Dock, your alias will always be within reach. All you have to do is locate the server folder you want to share in the Finder, and drag it to rightmost part of the Dock, where there are already some folders such as Applications, Documents, Downloads, etc...
Alternately, you can also create a new Shared item in the left pane of your main Finder window. In the Finder preferences, you can also choose to show all connected servers on the Desktop, which can come in handy too.
You may have to restart the Finder (or reboot the Mac, or just log out and back in) for the latter to take effect.
Oh, I almost forgot: you can also copy and paste the folder in question in the Desktop folder (left pane in the Finder main window), and it'll appear on the Desktop itself.

  • I hate the fact that my ipod nano cannot be updated or re-installed onto my Mac desktop itunes!!!

Why can I not update my ipod nano's music onto my refurbished Mac desktop.  I lost all my music once I gave my computer to be re-done.  Since then I have purchased alot of music on my desktop and added it to my iphone 4S but cannot add nor recover the music on my nano onto my desktop.  I want to also be able to edit the music list on my nano as well!
    Thanks for the answers

I have a 4th Gen 30gb IPOD and updated Itunes 7 sucessfully but could not update/install IPOD 1.2 upgrade.
Eventually after clicking the message boxes with the above info we seem to be getting, I selected the update button that appears on the front page of ITUNES and it installed/updated. I have been attempting for a couple of days and it just worked!!!!
After it completed, I received the same dialog box and then disconnected the IPOD from my laptop.
Seems to be OK now but there is def something going on.
I thought it may be a shareware issue with mp3's being downloaded into Itunes library form another application.

  • Time Capsule Icon No Longer Appears on Desktop

Two weeks ago I had AT&T U-verse cable, internet, & phone installed. As part of that installation they installed an AT&T router/wireless combination. The ethernet cable that was previously connected to Time Capsule is now connected to the AT&T device. There is no longer any ethernet connection to Time Capsule. The Time Capsule icon still appeared on my desktop and I manually performed back-ups from my Windows applications to Time Capsule. Time Capsule went from displaying a constant green light to displaying a flashing yellow light. That worked for several days. After about a week of that there appeared on my screen a 'wizard' of some sort recognizing the status of Time Capsule. It said this 'wizard' would eliminate the flashing yellow light. I followed the steps through the 'wizard' and at one point the flashing yellow light turned to constant green. There were a few more steps in the 'wizard' and when it was finished the flashing yellow light reappeared. The next time I tried saving files from Windows I could not connect to my w: drive, and the Time Capsule icon no longer appeared on my Mac desktop. I went into Airport Utilities and there is a box checked that should display the icon properly. Any ideas what's happening? How do I restore Time Capsule so I can back-up my files. Thank you.

    Welcome to the discussions!
I don't have 10.6.1 yet, but have noticed this happens very occasionally on my MacBook Pro, but not on my iMac. Simply resetting Time Machine on my laptop has done the trick.
    Open System Preferences
    Click on Time Machine
Click your Time Capsule to highlight it
    Click Use for Backups
If that does not do it then delete the "com.apple.TimeMachine.plist" file. It's located as follows:
Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
    Restart your computer
Then perform the same steps as above to setup Time Machine again.
The resets will not affect any of your backups.
