Bootcamp Icon missing from system tray...

On the 1st computer (iMac) that I installed BootCamp with Win 7, I have an icon in the lower left system tray for changing the booting choice.
Today I installed BootCamp on my wife's new Mac Mini and the icon is missing from the system tray. While it was about 6 weeks ago that I put BootCamp on my iMac, I don't remember doing anything that cause the Windows system tray to display the boot choice icon for BootCamp/Win 7.
Anyone have an idea about how I can get that icon to appear on the Mac Mini.
Both systems are running Snow Leopard with the latest software.

Macaby there are two separate components of Boot Camp. First is Assistant which runs on the Mac side of things from OS X. It creates/deletes the Windows partition which is necessary to install Windows. Next the Boot Camp Panel software which is installed once you have successfully installed and are running Windows. It allows tweaking of the Apple hardware from within Windows. It is installed using the OS X disc and does not jeopardize your installed Windows OS in any way. This disc also contains the hardware driver necessary to optimize the hardware in Windows. In my experience this disc has never started via autorun so you will most likely have to locate the Boot Camp folder and run the setup.exe file manually.
Don't know how much your wife uses Windows but if it's running well enough then you may want to leave it alone. Check device manager in Windows for any red or yellow punctuation marks. This will indicate a potential driver issue in Windows. Also check the Windows Experience Index for performance issues. A 1 anywhere indicates a driver issue. If you have no driver issues and Windows is running well enough you may want to leave it at that.

  • Updated my K450e to Windows 10, Realtek Audio Manager icon missing from system tray

When my K450e was using Windows 8 and 8.1, there was a red Realtek AudioHD Manager icon in my system tray. Now that I've updated the K450e to Windows 10, there is no Realtek Audio Manager icon in my system tray (or control panel) anymore. I've tried installing the Realtek Audio software both from the Lenovo download site for Windows 10, and also from the Realtek site. This has not helped. On the up side, the computer's audio is working fine *smile*. Any ideas what I might try to get the Realtek AudioHD manager icon back in the system tray for Windows 10? Thanks!

  • Icon missing from System Preference on MacBook Pro. Please Help

The icon for my mail, contacts and calendars is no longer under my System Preferences. Can someone help me get it back? Thanks.

If you're running the OS version in your profile, you never had that icon. Assuming the profile is wrong, do as follows.
    Select
    View ▹ Customize...
from the System Preferences menu bar. If the missing icon appears, check the box next to it, or click Show All. Then click Done.

  • Icloud icon Missing from system preferences

Why can I not find my icloud icon in system preferences?  Help!!!

Because you're running Snow Leopard (10.6.8 as noted in your profile)?
You must upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion to 'get' iCloud. Or just wait until Mavericks is released later this fall. You can directly upgrade now to Mountain Lion, if your system has the right specifications -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5444 - or wait for Mavericks. Your call. Mountain Lion is $20 and available from the Mac App Store: Apple hasn't announced a price for Mavericks.
    Good luck,

  • Miss the XP network icon in the system tray? Good news!

I don't know about you but since switching to Windows 7, I really miss not being able to monitor network traffic in the system tray?  In fact, the feature first went MIA in Vista.
Well good news!  I came across this little gem today and thought others might be interested in it.  Igor Tolmachev of itsamples.com has developed a nifty Network Activity Indicator, which adds the Windows XP-style Network connection icon to the system tray.
You can follow the link from the original article at BlogsDNA to download the app.

Right, but the original question was not, "do you think a mute status indicator on the screen would be useful". The question was whether there would be some way to implement one.
In any case, what you seem to be overlooking is that there would be a lot of people who MIGHT need to be reminded of the mute status, PASSIVELY. Its a different cognitive operation, where the device takes the lead and reminds ME of its status, on-screen, (just as I look at it for other status indications, such as new email in inbox).. without me having to remember to think of the mute status question unprompted. I find it totally illogical that Apple left this out. It could be in the bar at the top with the other status indicators SO EASILY.

  • Airplay Icon missing from iTunes 11.0.2.26 (PC) and Genius Sidebar

After upgrading to iTunes 11.0.2.26 my Airplay icon is missing. I've tried the simple fix that reportedly works where you switch to mini player, see the Airplay icon and then it stays when you switch to normal mode.
Firstly the icon does appear but it is grayed out and only pops up a volume control. It does not detect, display, or allow you to select output devices, Second, it is still missing from the normal size window.
This has been tried with and without restarting iTunes as well as reinstalling iTunes. I'd go for a downgrade but then it fails to work with the new iPads at all. I discovered that with my first iPad mini where it required an iTunes upgrade.
    Genious Sidebar
I figured Id just downgrade to 10.6.3 to get the genius sidebar back afterwards. WRONG, it will not synch or do anything without the newer versions of the iTunes software. Genius sidebar was the best thing about the software and they kept taking it away, brought it back for a few versions, then took it away again. It was and remains my favorite way to shop for new music. The remaining so called genius functions are just plain lame.
Airplay Icon Missing from Itunes on PC
I can hit my Airplay devices such as Apple TV and Zeppelin Air with iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Just not from the PC Console where is previously enjoyed it the most. So I know the devices are fine. They are all on the same physical wired and wireless network. Even when I put the Zeppelin on the wired LAN there is no Airplay icon in iTunes on the PC.

  • Skype freezes when I open it up from system tray a...

Whenever I try to open skype from system tray and when I start a chat with someone, Skype freezes and I have to wait for like 20-30 seconds before I am able to chat. I have a freshly installed windows 7 x64 and the newest skype version.

Same story for me! Ususally the other party can hear and see me before my end starts working. Except sometimes takes minutes for Skype to stabilize before I can use it.  Then it seems to work. Using Win 7 and Skype 7.1.0.105. The problem has existed since installing 7.1. Makes using Skype a real pain!
Internet Explorer is resident on computer, but I use Foxfire for browsing.

  • [SOLVED] KDE 4.5.2: lost icons of Pidgin, Skype... from System tray

Plasma crashed today and I lost, so called, "Default panel". After restart, I manually added panel, added System tray widget on it but System tray is no more displaying icons of non KDE applications such Pidgin, Skype and DeaDBeeF. Tried to change icon theme, played with icons folder mentioned in topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=103689 but so far no luck. There are not even blank spaces instead of icons. If I add System tray widget to the desktop, it also don't have those icons on it and it have blank spaces instead, say, KNotes and Klipper.
    Any help is appreciated.

File ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc was corrupted. I backed up it, deleted, restarted KDE, new file is created. Need to tweak desktop again but icons are shown correctly.

  • Adobe Tracker icon can't be removed from system tray??

I've been using Adobe Acrobat to created PDFs and do a shared review on a server. It's been great. Today someone asked me how to get rid of the Tracker icon that showed up in their system tray. It doesn't go away! I tried turning off notifications and hiding the icon, but it comes back after restarting. Any ideas?? I don't want people to stop reviewing my material because they don't want this Tracker to show up on their machines.

I am not sure where the startup is located, in the registry or one of the startup files. You can try to find out by going to START>Run>msconfig. You can search for where the file is being setup for starting.

  • Volume missing in system tray, mute buttons not working

hi, i just reformatted and installed the latest drivers for my Creative Soundblaster Digital 5. (dell) card, and at first everything was fine..
Now they Icon for sound is missing from the system tray.. My volume dial and mute button no longer work. and yes i have gone in and selected to have it appear in the tray.. that does nothing.
Also, all other sounds are working except for sounds from web browsers.. and I have all the necessary pluggins installed..
thanks creative... great products...Message Edited by maluut on 0-0-2006 05:07 PM

I have a similar problem with my elite pro card and would also like an answer.
I installed the new drivers and now my volume knob does not work nor can I adjust volume with the remote control. The mute button does work though.
Also why such an annoyance as to need the original disc in order to make the control panel work in the system tray? shouldn't driver updates be complete?
Also...what's up with the max volume white noise during the driver install which made my ears ring and nearly blew out my speaker system?

  • T430s Error in how the Power Manager icon displays in system tray at bottom of screen

The icon for the Power Manager in the Windows system tray in the bottom right area of the screen is cut off.    It's basically displaying itself too low on the system bar.  Please see picture attached:
Does anyone know how to fix this?  I've tried updating to the latest version of Power Manager (v 6.40) but that didn't help.  I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    Thanks.

    Hi, wesaturn
Have you tried updating all other driver updates available for your system, such as the BIOS and video drivers? They can all be found here if not.
Also, how long has this been occurring? And has it ever displayed properly?
    Best,
    Adam
