Bootcamp installation with Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Hi,
Here's my Macbook specs for starters:
MacBook Pro, Retina, 15", Early 2013
I've been having a lot of trouble using Bootcamp to make a partition for Windows.  The problem is when I begin launching the Bootcamp assistant and get to the "Copying Windows Files" stage.  The following message pops up:
"Your bootable USB drive could not be created.  An error occurred while copying the Windows installation files."
So naturally I googled this problem across the web and forums, but found not a single satisfying answer or solution.
I thought it might have been the ISO, so I found another one, but actually got a Windows 7 Home Premium x86 iso (32-bit).  Nevertheless, Bootcamp actually worked when I used this 32 bit ISO instead of the 64 bit (both from the same source).  I followed all the steps and got my Windows partition working.  Except I couldn't get any of the drivers to work with it, as the manuals say it has to be 64 bit edition and not 32 bit.  Thus I uninstalled it and tried again with x64, but the same error as above about copying the Windows installation files.
My question is, how do I make bootcamp work with the 64 bit edition Windows 7 Home Premium ISO?  It's fine with the 32 bit edition (x86) but it complains about the 64 bit one (x64).  The irony of this is that the Bootcamp compatibility chart specifically says that Windows 7 64 bit is compatible with the MacBook Pro model I am using.
Or would going to the Apple Store solve this problem?  Would they be able to get bootcamp working for me?  I've got a product key but no disk drive or usb optical disk drive.

Hi,
May I know if the computer is in a domain? If so, please try logging on with the local user account and see how it works.
If no, remove all external devices connected to computer, and then please try these suggestion:
Start up repair will take care of issues that hinder the system from booting normally such as conflict between existing software and Windows especially the third party software like an ant-virus. We could have a try:
Startup Repair

If it still persists, please try "Last known good configuration(advanced)" to fix the issue.

I recently was given a HP laserjet 4240n by my employer to use in a remote office.  I am using a Windows version 7 home premium 64 bit laptop.  I have tried the HP install wizard - no support for this printer.  I have tried downloading the "correct" driver - but that doesn't work either.
I assume that there is something wrong but I have spent hours and still haven't been able to figutre out what is wrong and how to fix it!

  • Can I change the OS of Touchsmart 610 from Windows Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro?

I have 610 1100me system loaded with Windows Home Premium 64 bit.  We bought it from Dubai and is in use in Pakistan.  It started giving problems after few weeks of use.  Its' hard disk makes noise and sometimes, system could not find boot disk.  Most of the times blue screen of death and hanging issues.  Any idea about this issue and how to fix it?  My observation is that the culprit is hard disk!
Also, can I change its OS to Windows 7 Pro or ultimate (32 or 64 bit)?  Where can I find all drivers for Pro or Ultimate?
Many thanks for your valueable advice.

    Hi,
Nearly nothing change interms of drivers required for Windows 7 (HP, Pro, Ultimate) unless you switch from 64 to 32 bit. You can reuse your current HP 64 bit drivers for 64 bit W7 Pro or Ultimate.

  • Operating system Windows 7 Home Premium x64 download

Hello, I have changed broken harddisk in my HP ProBook 4540s and I'm looking for Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (Czech). I have HP DVDs with this OS, but it doesn't boot. So I called to HP and then they sent me another DVD, but it doesn't work too. Where can I download this OS to install my system? Thank you for reply :-)

    Hi there
This is the legitimate Windows 7 ISO download page I found:
    http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/page-2#post-124821
You may need language packs to be installed for Czech to be activated after OS installation. Do a google search of Base language for Czech and download that.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium X64 - iTunes 10.5 - Not Starting

Thanks in advancer for any help...
Has anyone had any problem witrh the new version of iTunes for Windows 7 Home Premium X64?
I updated in the normal fasion and then iTunes refused to start. So I uninstalled all traces of Apple software, restarted, downloaded a fresh copy of iTunes for Windows X64 and installed it. Again I restarted my PC and tried to start iTunes. The process starts and uses 20% of my CPU power but then nothing. The process stops and nothing happens.
I've just got my very first piece of Apple kit (iPhone 4S) and I'm trying to get some music on it but I'm having big problems. Can anyone help me get iTunes working so I don't have to take my iPhone back the the shop and continue on with my Android line of devices.
    Bobby

My problem with AppleMobileDeviceService taking up 25% of my CPU had nothing to do with Apple.
I ran ProcessMonitor to see what the service was doing. I noticed that my anti virus software was denying the service access to the registry.
That information lead me to search for a problem on the PC Tools website. Where I found this:
    http://www.pctools.com/kb/article/security-software-itunes-is-not-working-correc tly-with-pc-tools-security-program-installed-323.html
Once I upgraded to the latest version of PC Tools Spyware Doctor and rebooted.  The AppleMobileDeviceService no longer took 25% of my CPU. Also I am able to connect to the iTunes Store without problem.
I recommend all of you still having problems to check your anti-virus software.
Please Apple accept my apology for blindly blaming you.

  • Freezing on Win7 Home Premium x64 with Flash Player 11.5.500.85

I have the same browser freezing problem with both 11.4.402.278 and the 11.5 beta on two identical HP DV9700T Laptops running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.   Loading pages with flash cause the browser to hang.  If I kill the flash process the browser resumes.  Note:  When I am on a page with flash there are two flash processes in TaskManager.  I am using FireFox primarily, but the same freezing behavior is observed in IE.  So far, in IE, I have only seen one Flash ActiveX process.     Significantly older versions of of Flash work fine.
Both systems have AVG Free edition.  The problem still occurs when I "Temporarily Disable" the realtime scanner.  Both systems have nVidia video cards.
When it freezes the cursor behaves normally, just the browser window is 100% unresponsive.  I can ctrl-alt-del to bring up task manager or I can use the Windows Flag (start)->Run   (yes, I have "run" manually turned on in my windows 7...I can't operate without it.)
Both systems have HP All in One Printer drivers installed as well as:  Office 2007, Media Player Classic Home Cinema set to default for all media types, 7-Zip, Adobe Reader, CCleaner, Spybot S&D, CDBurnerXP, Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 (12), Java, .NET, Various Visual C++ Runtimes, iTunes.     Those are all the common software programs.

I added to new user accounts.
I'm not sure there is anything unique about my configuration.  Months before this problem, I would continually get the prompt that the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player needed to be downloaded.  I would download it but the message never would go away.  I do get this error every time I reboot:  Error in C:\Windows\system32\nvsvc.dll Missing entry:nvsvcStart.  I did notice these errors in Device Manager:  AGEIA Phys X100 Series PCI Express Card - this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12).  If you want to use this device, you will  need to disable one of the other devices on this system
    and
Network Adapters - Microsoft ISATAP Adapter:  This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device Code 31.
I added two new user accounts, on the both the DLL error comes up.  Then it asks  to set up Internet Explorer 9 with the choices Use recommended security and compatibility settings.  SmartScreen Filter helps protect you from malicious websites and software by sending some web addresses to Microsoft to be checked.  ...  If I select this the problem occurs.  On the other new user account I did not check this and I did experience Internet Explorer pages that use Adobe Flash Player loading at a crawl.  Does this indicate SmartScreen Filter has issues or is having compatability issues with my antivirus\antispyware software?  I appreciate any suggestions.

  • NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium

    Router = WRT54G Version 1.1
I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

  • Has anyone sucessfully used the new Winclone 3.2 to backup and restore  Bootcamp partittion with Windows 7 Ultimate on MBP with Lion 10.7.3?

Bought late 2011 MBP 17" with Bootcamp partition (Windows 7 Ultimate) and Lion OS 10.7.3
I am trying to make a backup of Bootcamp partition before I start using my laptop but it proves to be a difficult task.
I don’t have any installation disk for Windows 7 and I am afraid that, if a disaster strikes and I loose the HDD, my copy of Windows will be gone.
The only way to restore Windows partition according to what I read so far is to do the following:
    • Use Windows to backup data from BootCamp Partition
    • Reinstall OS Lion formatting full hard drive in the process
    • Use BootCamp Assistant to create BootCamp partition
    • Install Windows 7 on bootcamp partion
    • Use Windows 7 to restore data from backup file created in the first step
The only problem is that I don't any image or disk to re-install Windows 7. With Windows 7 I can create only 'repair disk' (for what it is worth) or system image but according to other users it would format the whole drive including OS Lion partition when reinstalling
Winclone 3.2 seems like the answer to my prayers but would like to hear from the users if it worked for them (most imprtantly, did the restore work?).

Got the response from Winclone regarding my confusion in step 18 of the procedure to create bootcamp backup.  The message displayed on the screenshot under step 18 can be ignored.  It refers to creating a Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant but in fact this partition has already been created in earlier steps using Disk Utility.
I bought Winclone 3.3 as it promises to make backup and restore of Bootcamp partition with Windows 7 on it really easy, the steps to do this task are easy and well documented, and the owner of the program was very prompt responding to my queries.
I performed the following as an insurance against disaster prior to creating Winclone image:
Since my Windows 7 came pre-installed but without any installation disk I used Windows 7 to create 'Windows 7 system image' . From what I read on forums the system image created using Windows 7 apparently can't be used to easily restore Boot Camp partition (as it wipes out OS X in the process).  I created this image as a last resort backup rescue - some users reported that it can be used to recover Windows but the process is painful and involve a number of steps, swapping hard drives, and paid software to assist in the process.  I did not bother to make notes on this process - thanks to Winclone I am not suppose to need this backup if everything works as promised
I also created 'Windows 7 repair disk' prior to running Winclone.  Not sure what the value of it will be but again, this is something I did just in case I need it in the future
Then I installed Winclone 3.3 and created Windows 7 Ultimate Boot Camp image without any problems (on MBP running Lion 10.7.4).  My Winclone image file of 150GB Windows 7 Boot Camp partition prior to installing any programs and without any data on it ended up being nearly 8GB (saved to the external USB HDD).
I have not restored and don't plan to restore the Winclone 3.3 image just to test if it works (don't want to risk loosing my perfectly well running Windows 7 in case of any disaster).  So ultimately only time or experience of other users will tell me if I spent my money well buying Winclone 3.3.  I  know it worked for you JBLTZ so hopefully it will work for me when I need it one day.
    Cheers
    Swavek

  • IS CS3 Production Premium incompatible with Win7 Home Premium 64bit?

I installed CS3 on my new machine with Windows7 Home Premium 64bit on it and it appeared to install correctly.
So when I click the photoshop.exe file it opens a window and freezes.... (not responding) I have sat for an extended amount of time and nothing ever happens beyond that.
If I use after effects or illustrator or flash... nothing happens at all... no windows... however If I open up my task manager, I can see the processes running for those programs... just no applications...
I have run as admin and in WinXP SP2 mode.
    Disabled DEP and UAC.
    Updated everything in the book.
    I dont' get it...
So I am starting to wonder if it just isn't compatible with Win7.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject or direct me to anything that could help out?

    Hudechrome,
Can you clarify on CS4 running in Windows 7? My employeer is upgrading to 64-Bit Windows 7 Ultimate (new laptop w/8 GB ram). I can re-install with XP if I really want to.
For Win7 Ultimate, do I just run the 32-bit PS CS4 app for best results or is there something special I need to do?
    Thanks!
Please read what I said, excerpted here:
"...and they work fine in all 64 bit OS including Win7...as 32 bit programs."
Now Dec9 has some further notes above which should work fine. Personally, I will change everything when CS5 arrives. Hardware, OS and programs. Since I am still running CS3 (which should also run on Win7 at 32 bits) I am in no hurry to upset a rather well oiled editing system. Yesterday, I did upgrades to my hardware, adding an additional 1TB drive. I needed extra sata connections so I added a PCI sata card, blew out the dust bunnies, installed the HD and the damn thing wouldn't even post!
    It runs now.
    Wouldn't dare not !!

When I went to the microsoft Website all I found was support for windows 8 .  Can you give help me with the proper link? thank you

Please provide the manufacturer and model of your pc.
It is possible you have a hidden recovery partition on your hard drive which may be used instead of a recovery disk to restore your system (and Windows) to factory defaults.
Recovery procedures vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
You should also search for any recovery disk/s that were supplied with your pc. Manufacturers invariably charge a significant fee to supply replacements.
If you decide to use borrowed/downloaded media to reinstall Windows on an OEM pc, the process may not be straightforward. Without some experience and patience you may end up with no other option than to pay a professional to finish the job.
Microsoft does not publicly provide download links for Windows. While you may stumble upon an official download source, beware that many unofficial sources will come pre-loaded with viruses, trojans etc.
