Bootcamp issues MBP Retina 13" 2015

Hi all,
I've been playing with my new mac for a few days now and I've got a few issues - not with OSX, but with Windows 8.1 (Bootcamp).
Eventually everything installed ok and it's been running fine, however here are the problems:
1) the force trackpad doesn't work reliably in Windows - Primarily this is related to clicking and dragging, which can take a few tries before it responds properly. Also the right click sometimes doesn't respond at all (though i get the feedback from the force touch track pad). I've tinked with the various settings in the bootcamp control panel but nothing has improved it.
2) My external monitor, when connected to the MBP via DisplayPort, keeps losing sync and produces a black screen for a few seconds. Initially I though this was completely random, but I can now reliably recreate the issue in some instances - e.g. when i load gmail via googlechrome, it loads fine, but then the screen goes blank for a few seconds. The MBP display doesn't turn off. This happens in both extended display and duplicate display (mirror) modes, at any resolution. the odd thing is it only happens when the monitor is connected via DisplayPort - HDMI and VGA connections work fine. I have to connect via DisplayPort though as I want to run the monitor at its full resolution (2560x1440) which isn't supported on the HDMI output of the MBP. Note every time the monitor drops out, a short, static noise emits from the monitor speakers.
In relating to 2), i've also noticed an issue when playing YouTube videos - they either play too fast or too slow (causing intermittent monitor dropouts as above). This is really odd! Disconnecting the external monitor and it works fine on the MBP.
I suspect both of the above issues are driver related - anyone else had similar issues and/or can offer advice on how to fix??
Thanks in advance
Mike

OK so i've isolated the display issue - it appears to be related to 'hot swapping' - if i boot the macbook in windows (from off) with the display already connected, it works fine with no problem. However, if i connect the display after it's booted, or disconnect and reconnect the display, the problems return.
I'm guessing this is related to the fact i'm using a thunderbolt port, and it's not hot pluggable in my version of the mac - Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
however i'm a bit annoyed as it's not a thunderbolt display - it's a displayport display. I know windows starts up quickly but it's still a pain to have to reboot every time i want to connect a display.
Anyone any thoughts on this or the trackpad issue?

  • Audio on Facetime vidéo issues (MBP Retina)

    Hi,
I am having an issue on my Macbook Pro Retina 13.
When i call a friend on vidéo using Facetime, this friend can see me and hear me.
But during the conversation my voice sundenly kind of mute off some seconds then it is back.
If I quit Factetime and call this same friend right away (using my same wifi network) i have no audio issues.
    Any idea?

    Hi Rudegar,
Thnaks for feedback but what do u suggest? should i uninstall windows and try again. I did checked the option in bootcamp during win install "Download windows support software" but my MBP got stuck while downloading win support software.. i waited for more than 3 hours but it never moved ahead after 50 odd %. So i tried again with unchecking this option and once win were installed i downloaded bootcamp 5.0 and installed it but my display was not detected.
Have you restarted Windows since installing, if not try it.

  • Wifi at 450 mbps on Bootcamp? (MBP retina 15")

    Hello,
I've just bought an Airport Extreme routeur, and it works just great at 450Mbps... under Mac OS X (10.8)!
Under Bootcamp (Windows 7 x64), I can't reach that speed. I think the best I've reach so far is only 300Mbs, ans, more generally under it (200, 150, or worst 72!)...
    Why that?
Is that an Apple Bootcam Driver limitation (As read on several websites)?
How can I get rid of this limitation?
    Should I try other drivers?
    Thanks for your help!

here is what I did :
    Timemachine save of the mac
    Restart > format the drive
    Install Mac OSX
    Timemachine BUT NOT APPLICATION
    Re-install all app's
    and it works
    Important
I did a first try when I had everything from time machine except application, then FCPX was working. Then I re-installl everything from app store and webpages of the other soft (no so many) : FCPX was working. Finally to get the last few app (like office) I decided to use timemachine/application to install them... and the same problem came back. (...)
I start from start...  format again... and install the app from app store and webpages, even MBL - Slice X and other different plugin and it work. I decided to not install some recent things before saving my system.
The main 2 things I didn't install are
    from appstore : Resolution Tab
    and from web
the SONY XDCAM driver I used this week to check some F55 files
    http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/pdzk-lt2
So It could be one of those... maybe, but I don't want to loose anymore time to know it for sure.
    cheers

  • How do I get 2560x1600 with a 30" Dell display in Bootcamp on the Retina MBP

I had a MBA 11" that recognized the 30" Dell 3007WFP display at its native resolution.
To get it to work in Mountain Lion I used the "hold option when scaling" trick. Success.
    Bootcamp though isn't working.
Since getting Retina MBP and Mountain Lion Bootcamp NVIDIA graphic drivers installed, I can play games on the Retina at 2880x1800 fine, and the external only works at 1280x800. It shows that it can go up to 2560x1600 but it doesn't actually work.
Is there something wrong with Apple's adapter for Thunderbolt to DVI-D Dual Link and the new drivers or the MBP Retina's Thunderbolt port?  The display is only receiving Single Link instead of Dual Link, limiting the resolution to 1280x800 instead of 2560x1600.

    hi guys
before I bought Retina, I did a little research on the internet...
I remember reading that for the time being, you cannot use retina MBP with other displays at max or higher resolution under bootcamp...
I read that the driver for this retina mbp video card was Apple Mac OsX specific or something like that.
Therefore, no support under other than Mac osx environment yet...
I don't know if I made myself clear...
you can do a little research on the internet and you'll easily find articles talking about this issue...

  • MBP Retina display issue

The best way of explaining my issue is with a picture. As you can see the image on the left has issues with orange, almost like a sunburst effect? The [icture on the right is normal and okay.
The left is on a brand new, newly opened MBP Retina 15" and the right is on an old 17" MBP I've had for years. I did nothing to the retina, haven't changed any settings, this is new out the box. I looked at calibration settings etc but it's all on default.
I really have no idea what's going on!! Does anyone have any ideas or should I take my newly delivered MBP back the the Applestore for a genius appointment?

I have the same problem with my MacBook Retina 13... my LG monitor loose signal. Please help!

  • MBP Retina issues with ATV 3rd gen

    Hi there,
I have been attempting to use airplay on my ATV 3rd gen on my MBP retina and have not been successful. All my other devices work (ipad, iphone) not sure what the issue may be. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

AirPlay in general or AirPlay Mirroring?
Is your MBP-R running the latest OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)?
Is AirPlay activated on your ATV?
Are your MPB-R and ATV signed into the same Apple ID?
Are your MBP-R and ATV on the same subnet?

  • When bootcamping, MBP(Retina 15") does not have wireless capabilities.  What do I do?

I used bootcamp with no problems on my iMac (2008), booting into Windows 7 32bit.  However, with my recently purchased MBP Retina the wireless card seems to be missing a driver or something, and will not even show when I go to wireless help on windows 7.  I installed the Windows 7 64bit.

After installing Windows you must immediately install the drivers provided by BC prior to installing Win. The operations BC does are: 1. create Windows partition; 2. create drivers to be either burnt unto a CD or copied to a USB flash drive; 3. install windows. When Windows is ready, use the product created in step 2, otherwise you will have a lot of problem running Windows, from resolution, to wireless and bluetooth.

  • MBP retina bluetooth issue.

I'm using a MBP retina and i have install windows 7 on it, but i can't use my bluetooth, i think that i don't have the driver installed. anyone can tell me how i can install it? thanks

How is Win7 installed? Bootcamp, Parallels, or what?
Are you saying that Bluetooth does not work within Win7?
If you're using Parallels, you may need to select Bluetooth from the Parallels Devices dropdown, then External Devices (but you have to unselect it when returning to OSX). This sometimes helps with the CD/DVD devices to get Win7 to recognize them.

  • Audio issues with some full screen applications (game) and teamspeak with a 15" MBP retina display

While trying to play League of Legends in the lobby and loading screens i can hear everything but when i go in game i cant hear anything, and with teamspeak my teamspeak cant detect the input or output devices and i can hear everything else like skype and everything
Already reinstaled flash restored the system and took it to the apple store, this happened like for 2 days with youtube and they solved that but not the problem with the game or teamspeak

    actually.... it doesn't.
the 1920 is simulated, and apple doesn't recommend it.
Apple doesn't offer the option of full resolution (2880x1800) and says everything other than 1440 x 900 won't look as good as 1440x900.
so while you can set the monitor to 17" resolution (1920x1080) it has to simulate it on a 2880x900 screen and has to blur and reinterpolate elements to make it work
they've really messed it up for anyone wanting true HD resolution for professional reasons.
Indeed. Everything except 2880x1800, which is unavailable without SwitchResX, and 1440x900, which comfortably fits one pixel of the image into a four pixel square of the Retina Display, must be simulated or scaled. However, while the scaling is real, the 17" "simulation" looks as good, to my eye at least, as my wife's MBP 17". Going smaller will test one's eyes probably as much as Apple's scaling algorithms so the tradeoff for greater screen real-estate may turn out not to be as bad as we'd think. All I need is a MBP Retina Display and SwitchResX to find out...

  • 2 mouse-related issues on MBP Retina

    Hello,
Recently got my hands on a MBP Retina, running 10.8.1. I'm having two problems related to my mouse. I'm using an old Kensington Optical Elite wired mouse. I know it's old and outdated, but I like it and believe that it should be working fine (as it did on my older laptop).
Two things I am having problems with:
-Tracking speed. Tracking speed is very slow, and doesn't seem to be effected at all by the tracking speed system setting.
-Button mapping. Can't find a way to custom configure the buttons, though some of them seem to be mapped already.
Does anyone know if there is a solution to this other than buying a new mouse?
    Thank you.

tracking speed can be sped up using the mouse settings under system preferences.
if you want more than two buttons you need to get an app to deal with that... apple engineers are very single minded, so no out of the box support for more buttons.

  • MBP Retina Battery Percentage Issue

I use istats pro for my MBP Retina and I noticed yesterday that the battery percentage was 99 percentage on there but the percentage the laptop was telling me was 100%. So I noticed it again this morning and I unplugged my charger and I noticed how the istats pro percentage was going down and laptop was staying at 100%. Eventually the laptop percentage went down but so did the istats pro percentage.
Like I have 2 battery percentages and not sure which one is correct, I'm assuming the laptop one. On my old 17 inch MBP the istats pro battery percentage and the laptop percentage were always the same but with my Retina they aren't.
Can anyone else me out please.

  • Windows 8 slow on MBP Retina 15

i just got MBP retina 15 and installed windiws 7 pro on it via bootcamp and win was running smoothly. I then upgraded to windiws 8 pro and it stucks/freezes frequently like if i make a new folder or sometimes oopen ny location like c drive or my documents or my pictures it just stucks and waits and waits and then opens it. I then removed entire windiows and restored partition to mac os x and then installed windows 7 and upgraded to windows 8 but i am again having same problems ... its slow in response, not always but most of the time and the mouse pointer gets busy and busy and busy and finally opens the application .... from some other blogs i have tried this with on power and on battery but the result is same !! has anyone faced such an issue and how did it get solved ??

hi all, i have found a strange thing with this issue... i have tried thsi many times and now im sure that this happening because of this .... when i use windows 8 with power plugged in then the windows gets stuck repeatedly, the mouse curser hangs and after a minute or so it starts to work but it again happens after sometime.... when i remove power (MBP running on battery) windows 8 run smoothly without any delay !!!! i have tried this even now ... i was unable to type this as it gets stuck again and again and now i ve removed power supply and now its working fine ........... has anyone experienced same thing with MBP retina 15 ???

  • MBP Retina or Powerful Ultrabook?

Hi, I've been a PC user all my life, but after working my way through the first iPod Nano, a couple iPod Touches, and now an iPad 2- I've grown to like the way Apple works. I'm finally at the point where I've decided to upgrade my 4-year old Future Shop sale Toshiba, which surprisingly has lasted me a good deal of time. However, I'm not a fan of the limited capabilities, the weight, and the fact that it very easily overheats (to nearly scalding temperatures), leading me to opt for my iPad most of the time. I'm a sucker for HD and quick boot-ups, so of course I fell in love with the MBP Retina when it was released. The only thing holding me back is the hefty price tag. Because of this, I began to research several ultrabooks and found that I could get the same specs (except for retina, but I'm fine with 1080p) and even a few bonus features (I would love a Blu-Ray drive and some accident-proof features) for half, or slightly-more-than-half of the price of the MBP. My favourite features of the MBP are the "little things"- fast bootup, magsafe, trackpad, and iCloud to work seamlessly with my iPad (which, i guess isn't really a "little thing"). I'm just not sure if these are worth the extra $1000 when I could just get an amazing PC.
I plan to use this computer in the following ways:
    - Web browsing/ social networking
    - Homework (university... of course)
    - Entertainment (play movies, TV shows, etc)
    - Some video and picture editing (I have a Sony camera which records AVCHD, which edits best on Sony Vegas)
    - Running language software (i.e. Rosetta Stone)
So anyway, I'm not a gamer or a hardcore video editor, but I would like to be able to do some editing and video playback with clarity and without lag. As such, I figure I really only need the i5, so the base model of the Retina is fine for me. But again, I could get a **** good computer with i5 for much less money than the Retina, so I'm looking for reasons to sway either way. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    tj

    Hmm...
'll readily admit, I'm a bit of an Apple head, so always say YEAH GO FOR IT.
    However,
I'd say be aware, if you aren't going to use the power, you may be better going for alternatives, but I'll give you a rundown of some pro's and cons for your usage.
    - Cold boots in 15 seconds flat
    - can play 4 1080p streams at once without lag or framerate drop
    - Photo editing on Aperture is excellent
    - Photostream means your photos are there almost instantly wirelessly (not with the camera of course)
    - Photoshop CS6 (when the retina patch is out) will look brilliant
    - I had a photo zoomed out to fill half the screen size, of a whole person, yet could still see individual hairs on the head.
    - Build, engineering, design and material quality unsurpassed in the industry (you cannot flex anywhere or make anything creak)
    - Logevity, just upgraded from a 2008 Air - which was still going strong with no visible wear or damage/scratches
-Power, good graphics chip, switchable for battery life
    - Video editing is amazing (on Final Cut Pro - which is Retina ready) you can veiw full 1080p with the interface still visible
    Cons:
    - Lag - on 'best for retina' its great, on 'More space' scaling, if you allow GFX chip switching, will cause serious lag - forcing the GeForce fixes this
    - Other laptops will be great for your needs, and cheaper, but may not last as long
    - The next generation in a year will likely iron out the lag issues
    - Most programs are not yet retina ready - meaning they look... well... very dodgy indeed
I would say the MacBook is a fantastic machine and you will not regret the purchase, it will last you a good 3-5 years and you will thoughoughly enjoy it.  It's an absolute joy to you and the trackpad and keyboard are brilliant.  The speakers are also great.
However, you will likely get a notebook more than good enough for your needs, as you said, for much less money.  If you can happily afford it - get the Mac, they are some of the finest computers money can buy.  If it's a stretch - get a **** good alternative, you'll enjoy it equally and get great performance and some extra money in the old pocket!
Hope this helped a bit anyway - if you have any questions, ask away, more than happy to help
