Bootcamp Keyboard/Mouse problems

I have completed the Bootcamp PC installation process, but after the computer restarts and "sets up for first usage," it asks me to type in a username. But now my USB numeric keyboard and USB mouse attached to it do not work.
PLEASE help me! I have no idea what to do.

i did all the 3 check of bootcamp assistant.

  • Bootcamp Keyboard/Mouse Mapping Issues

    Hi Apple Community,
I am using a Macbook Air running Bootcamp for Windows 7.  I am running into a few keyboard/mouse issues that I am hoping to find a solution to with the main one in the title.  Could some please help me to understand how I can perform the following actions in Windows on a MacbookAir when running Bootcamp:
    1.  "Ctrl-Shift-Z" does not work?
    2.  "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" does not work?
    3.  Is there a way to reverse the mouse direction so that it operates like the MAC OS?
    4.  Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity of the Mouse for the "Touch Click" feature?
    Thank you for the help!

I run the same system (MBA with Win7), except that I wiped my mac partition out entirely.
2)Ctrl-Alt-Delete works fine on my machine. I can't imagine  why that wouldn't be working. Have you checked the User Accounts control  panel to see if it's disabled somehow? Does Ctrl-Shift-Esc still bring  up the task manager?
3)Have you tried using the "Mouse" control panel regarding number 3, which lets you reverse the mouse buttons? Assuming that's what you meant by reversing directions.
4)Regarding number 4, I would say that if it's too sensitive, your best bet is to just turn it off in the "Boot Camp" control panel. I don't think there's a way to adjust the sensitivity.
I think I have been of very limited help. I hope some other people jump in on this one.

  • Windows via Bootcamp keyboard/mouse not working???

I have a 15" Macbook Pro and have installed Windows 7 Ultimate via bootcamp with all the correct apple support drivers but suddenly my keyboard/mouse will not work at the sign in screen for Windows at all. Up untill this point I could restart my mac and resign in through the windows partition and easily play my favorite games. Recently I tried signing into windows but at the sign in screen I cannot use my mouse nor my keyboard. Please do not tell me to reinstall windows unless that is the only solution because of data not backed up. Is it a driver issue, how can that be because it worked fine for weeks? Please get back to me as soon as possible!!
    Specs:
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB (Raam) 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeGorce GT 650M 1024MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

If the mouse and keyboard are working under OSX then it can't be a hardware issue.
    You could try:
starting Windows in safe mode to see if the mouse and keyboard work. (Press F8 repeatedly just before Windows starts to boot to bring up the Windows boot menu.)  Safe mode loads a set of basic drivers to just get Windows running and no more.
Another thing you can try is unplug the mouse and re-plug it in after a few seconds while at the login window.  The USB ports may re-detect the mouse.
Try booting from a Windows PE CD or USB stick if you have one.  If the keyboard and mouse work under Windows PE then it's probably a driver issue under your Windows install.
Did you install anything under Windows before this happened?

  • Wireless Keyboard/Mouse problem since 10.4.9

    Hi All,
Not sure if this has been posted by anyone else, but since updating to 10.4.9 on my 17" G4 iMac and and 17" G5 iMac - I have had ongoing problems with bluetooth on each computer where the keyboard continually drops out with "Connection Lost" error (Usually once a minute when I am using the keyboard). (Keyboard problem on the G4 iMac)
And on the G5 iMac, I am having exactly the same problem but with the mouse dropping out every minute or so.
I've reset the PRAM on both computers, but still the same problem.
    Any help hugely appreciated.

    I would troubleshoot this way:
On a different partition on your internal drive or ext firewire drive, install a fresh copy of OX 10.4 or even 10.3. Booth from this partiton. See if your bluetooth works. If so, then update to 10.4.9 and see if it still works.
If not, then your culprit is the update and I would not update on your permanent boot partition.
If yes, then migrate all your stuff to the new partation or double migrate to the firewire disk/erase old partition/migrate back.
If you bluetooth does not work with a fresh copy or OS 10.4 on a new partition/ext drive, then you may have a hardware issue. Try borrowing a USB bluetooth adaptor from your local computer store (leaving with them your refundable retail deposit price of course) and see if you can get it to work. D-link usb/bluetooth adaptor ~$25 works on my old blue&white frankenmac G4 with 10.3 installed. May want to unplug your internal bluetooth module inside your case (if possible) when you do this so that OS 10 does not freak out.
    That's all I know.

  • 975x Platinum keyboard/mouse problem.

My mouse and keyboard are both on PS/2. My computer had been working fine for about a month since I've had it then a few days ago windows started locking up (sort of)
Basically Windows is running fine until I press a media key on my keyboard (say to open the media player) then Windows sort of locks up. Programs run fine in the background I just can't click on anything with the mouse and the keyboard will only CTRL, Alt, Delete it wont type or do anything else. This problem occurs if I use a usb mouse or a usb keyboard.
I've tried having PS/2 - USB, USB-USB and so on. I've updated the bios to the latest version, of course I've made sure both the keyboard and mouse are plugged in correctly. Can anybody shed some light?
    Thanks

Before the problem occured I had no drivers installed, I just installed the driver and the same problem occurs (even with different keyboards and the driver uninstalled). Whilst trying this out my mouse and any other mouse no longer works under PS/2. It just isn't seen even after numerous reboots. If use a USB mouse it works however.
Am I looking at a hardware fault of some kind? I also ran a memory test earlier using memtest and got 4 errors, my brother also did a memory test (he has the same setup as me) and he recieved no errors. Is this a memory fault or could it be combination of things?

  • Keyboard / mouse trouble on V210

Have just bought a Sun Fire V210 server, and installed a graphics card. Everything is working fine, except the mouse. Both the mouse and the keyboard are connected to the same USB-port by use of a USB to PS2 connector. To verify that the connector was not the problem, I have also tried to connect a USB mouse and a USB keyboard directly to the two USB ports, but this did not solve the problem.
    The mouse just wont work
    Help-help-help...

The MS-6163 motherboard has BIOS updates from 1999-2000 that fixes following problems...
"- Fixed Keyboard power on problem."
"- Fixed some keyboard/mouse problem wherein it will cause the system not to bootup."
     http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=264&NAME=MS-6163
But I have the MS-6737 and there is no such BIOS updates for my mobo :-(

  • Bluetooth keyboard and mouse problems

    Dear friends,
I think something is wrong with my bluetooth devices... They work perfecly well for a period of time (maybe 1 hour, maybe 2 minutes) and after this period they stop working well. They are not disconnected, they keep working, but they are super lagish, e.g. the mouse cannot be controlled, the keyboard have super latency or it keeps repeating a button i selected.
When this occurs I turn off bluetooth from my status bar, and turn it again on right away. That solves the problem for again a period of time. This issue was first introduced to me after I installed Lion on my mac. After this and some other problems I experienced in Lion, I decided to switch back to snow leopard again. The thing is that the problem persisted...
    Any suggestions ???
    Thanks

    OK. New input...
Updated again to Lion. As soon as I updated the problem began again. Once again I deleted the com.apple.bluetooth file and reset both pram and smc.
For two days my bluetooth devices were working perfectly fine. None issues.
Today, I was in a hurry and put my mac on sleep by closing the lid. As soon as I opened the lid again
    the problem unveiled again.
What on earth is happening ?? It cannot be a keyboard or mouse problem, can it ??
Little help, please... It seems managable, but performing a smc and pram reset every couple days doen't
    seem right...
    Regards

  • K9NGM Vista x64 PS2 keyboard & mouse Sleep Problem.

Hi, I've installed Vista Home Basic on a K9NGM motherboard, when it resumed from sleep mode the sleep went crazy, so I enabled S3 in the bios, now when it resumes from sleep the screen is fine, but after a few seconds the mouse & keyboard stop responding.
I can press the no/off button on the tower & it closes normally.  I'm only using the standard Windows drivers for both the keyboard & mouse.
    Anyone know the answer?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply,
Hibernate works fine, I'm only using the default Vista drivers for keyboard & mouse, In S1 when it came out of sleep the screen was totally messed up.
I use lots of theses motherboards in the systems I build & sell, it's not good that they're not totally Vista compatible
I've altered most of the power settings now so it's more difficult to put it into sleep mode, but I don't think I can turn it off altogether.  It's a shame because the sleep mode is very cool.
i guess it may be fixed soon, like for another boards via BIOS update, see example:
    - Fixed keyboard/mouse cannot work after resume from S3 under Vista.

  • Keyboard & mouse stopped working

I just recently bought a new iMac i7 2 days ago & installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit through bootcamp. Everything was working fine until Windows installed updates. Now when it gets to the windows login screen, the mouse and keyboard stop working so I can't even type in my password to login.
I've gone through many of the posts here & around the net but nothing has solved my problem. The indicator light on the keyboard & mouse just continue to flash but won't connect. I start up Mac OS & everything works fine so it had to be a Windows update that caused the problem since it was working fine before the updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also want to mention, I'm still fairly new to Mac, as I only used it for video editing in school, so please bear with me if I follow up with ridiculous questions while still familiarizing myself with the new setup.

    Hi coolfonz,
for the proper set-up of your keyboard & mouse you'll need to use a wired mouse & keyboard (then you'll have to update the drivers for those wireless probably).

  • Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5: keyboard & mouse don't work

Running OS-X 10.8.5 on iMac 27 Late 2013. Everything goes smoothly installing Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5.0.4 until Windows does its final reboot (after a complete, apparently successful install), and begins the Windows setup sequence. The first setup screen asks for User name and PC name. My mouse and keyboard do not work at this point. Tried cold rebooting: Windows boots up, detects it needs to do first use setup, and gets to same failure point.
NOTE: I have never had a chance to install the Windows support drivers; but the mouse and keyboard worked through out the istallation.
I've tried two different W7 versions: 64-bit Pro and 64-bit Enterprise [Enterprise is not supported, but I have installed it on an iMac 27 2010, and a MacBook Air 2013.]. Both versions of W7 hang at the same point described above.
I've tried a Windows DVD install disk  plus Windows support drivers on a flash drive; and I've tried a bootable flash drive with everything on it. Both fail at the same point.
I have tried both wireless and USB keyboards and mouse. Same failure.
I have even tried removing the flash drive with Windows support drivers before the final reboot. Same failure.
NOTE: when I reboot in OS-X and go to the Startup Disk, the windows option says "Untitled Windows" instead of Boot Camp; but I can select it, and it starts the Windows boot which ends up at the same Windows setup failure point.
Has anyone had the same problem?
Has anyone succeeded? If so, any special actions or ideas?

The issue may be related to the iMac 2013 only having USB 3.0 ports and that windows 7 does not come with drivers for it. Try the following (borrowed from answer on Mac Rumors Forums http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1659481):
    <quote>
If you run into issues with keyboard and mouse not working (due to USB 3.0 and Win 7 incompatibility), you need to run your Win 7 partition (and Win 7 installation disk/partition) in legacy mode. (I found this information at:http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support#faq123 - see "Method using Terminal"). Here you will be setting the legacy on the installation volume of win 7, not bootcamp partition (yet). After running the diskutil list find the volume with installer of Win 7, and then run the command (substituting the disk1s2 below with the information you find through diskutil on your computer:
sudo /usr/sbin/bless --device /dev/disk1s2 --setBoot --nextonly --legacy
Enter administrative password when prompted. Next, select Restart from the Apple menu. Do not hold the Option key while restarting.
You should have mouse/keyboard working. Begin the Windows 7 installation. Upon first restart right after the installer completes, boot into Mac and set the legacy mode for the BootCamp partition (but this time without the --nextonly flag), so you can use keyboard/mouse to complete the installation and thereafter until the USB 3.0 drivers are installed).

  • Boot camp will not recognize wireless keyboard/mouse - will they work with a 32bit version of Windows?

I have a new iMac 21.5" - 4GB ram, 3.60 GZ processor.  Installed bootcamp partition with Win 7 Pro 64 bit - it was sealed box.  Could not get it to recognize the bluetooth keyboard/mouse that came with the unit last Thursday.
From page 5 of the instructions, "What You Need" - The Keyboard and mouse or trackpad that came with your computer. (if they are not available use a USB keyboard and mouse.)
I did follow all the instructions for getting the drivers installed.  Went to all sources of info on the subject from Apple support, internet discussions and forums.  It seems that it is a common and seemingly unsolveable problem that Apple does not yet have a solution for.
The question - will the 32 bit Windows 7 Pro have the same problem?
    BruceM

You need 3.1 or better yet the drivers from Lion and Boot Camp 4.0
BC 2.x was only for Vista and XP
You don't actually "run" Boot Camp 2.x as much as partition with the Assistant, and install motherboard support drivers to Windows.
"I am USING Boot Camp 2.x"
    You're running Windows -- natively.

  • Keyboard/mouse variably function

My keyboard & mouse stop functioning unpredictably. Problem persists after repairing disk, permissions;also tried taping KB cable under battery, no luck. Can use USB KB & Mouse. All other functions seem OK. Machine is > 3 yrs old. Should I chuck it? Is it likely an OS problem? I also must attach USB KB to launch Windows from Bootcamp (ie. the KB won't work before Mac OS launches). Thanks for any clues, suggestions. I've had the problem intermittently for 6 months or more, but it is now more persistent.

I had the bloated battery problem 9 mths ago, or so, and replaced the battery as soon as possible->*could this have damaged the KB/trackpad connection?*
It's possible if the battery was leaking.

  • Problems running PC game with bootcamp, graphics card problem?

I have searched extensively on answers to this question and I've gotten some vague ideas of what to do, but not a direct answer.
I recently installed a copy of Windows on my 15in Macbook Pro (the ones that came out right before the latest ones in late August/Early October 2008 or whatever). I did this in order to play Final Fantasy XI Online on my laptop. The machine is more than capable of running the game and I've read forum posts that had said that it works fine through bootcamp. I installed the game and was playing it just fine until one day the game began to lag really bad in areas where there were a lot of people or in other words something very demanding of the memory/graphics. I don't mean internet speed lag, I mean the computer would slow the game down to a crawl and the sound would be sort of garbled like it was some sort of feedback. It would happen periodically or if some sort of animation would start (spellcasting, etc)
I've tried everything from changing the settings of the game so that it's not as demanding to installing modified drivers for the graphics card (256mb Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT). I read that there may be some problems with the graphics and sound cards communicating which causes lag?
The computer also gets unnaturally hot while I run the game/windows in general. Could it be a cooling problem?

  • Question regarding Windows 7 w/iMac and bluetooth keyboard + mouse

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium, thru Boot Camp 3.0. My iMac 10.6.8 restarts w/a black screen. After reading the previous posts, I guess this is b/c I am using a bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Will any corded keyboard/mouse work or does it have to be an apple product? I am hours away from the Apple store, and in a very remote area. I could try to find someone with a PC corded keyboard/mouse if it would work.

Helps to have wired kb/mouse until BT and drivers installed.
Even a tech article here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
Any will do. I use a lot of 3rd party kb and always use MS optical mice. Apple puts their own firmware in some keyboards which I don't understand and can cause problems of their own.
It isn't what OS you run as much as what model year the iMac.

  • Keyboard/Mouse not recognised in Win7 64 bit installation

    Specs of my machine:
    OS X Yosemite
    Version 10.10.1 (14B25)
    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Okay so, I've finally downloaded/installed windows 7 through bootcamp, everything runs fine until the windows screen prompts me to restart and run the installation again, then my mouse/keyboard won't work both magic mouse/keyboard and usb connected mouse won't work so can't finish installing windows to enter control panel or delete usb drivers like previous suggestions!
    Can anyone help please?

What other peripherals do you have connected to the iMac? Usually external storage devices cause the most problems.
Disconnect all external peripherals, connect a wired USB keyboard/mouse, and a USB for Windows installer and run BCA.
