Bootcamp No WiFi under Windows 10

I just installed Win 10 with bootcamp. No problem. Everything works fine.  Except I can not see my WiFi network under Windows.  Any idea.  It looks like Windows does not recognize my Network Mac Card.
Thank you

Windows 10 isn't even in public beta at this point. It's a "technology preview". Apple doesn't support Windows 10 in boot camp at this point.
The Windows 10 preview doesn't work with a lot of stuff at the moment.
If you really want to play with it, install it in VirtualBox or VMWare Fusion or something. At least the networking functions will work that way. Setting custom screen resolutions is still difficult if not impossible as it doesn't work with the display drivers in most virtualization packages that provide custom scaling, etc.

  • Wifi under windows 7 boot camp keeps dying

I have been running windows 7 64 bit under Boot Camp for just under a week, and last night have started to have some pretty serious issues with the built in wifi.
Periodically, without any consistent cause, when I am booted into Windows 7, my internet connection begins to degrade.  Not disconnect or anything, just taking on like 60% packet loss or more, pings to both my default gateway (the wifi router) as well as to anything further out on the internet.  My ipad, iphone, macbook pro are all fine and able to use the internet at the same time without issue, its only the imac booted into Windows 7.  I can reboot with no change, still completely unusable (unable to load even a single web page) for Windows 7.  reboot to OSX, no issues.  Its not the router, or the ISP, its JUST when I'm in win7 using wifi. I've changed IPs, used a static DNS, measured wifi, etc.  I was using this setup for almost a week before the issues started, and I'm assuming its something wrong with Windows7.  Fully patched and up to date, both OSX and Win7.
I finally figured out that I can temporarily fix the problem by resetting the driver for the wifi interface under the Network Adaptor troubleshoot wizard in Windows, this buys me between 5 minutes to half an hour before the issue starts up again.  Nothing else I've found will fix the issue even temporarily.
I finally ran a 50 ft ethernet cable from the imac to the router and this has for now solved the intermittent issue, but its not sustainable this way as I cannot leave the cords like this.  But clearly there seems to be an issue with the wifi driver in windows that boot camp is using.
Can anyone provide some suggestions of what to look for within windows or a way to debug this more directly?  I used the BootCamp assistant to burn a DVD of drivers at install time and I believe they were the most recent versions, but not sure how to check further.  Device manager reports I am using the Atheros AR938x Wireless adaptor, and this is a mid-2011 27" iMac running Lion.

I'm having the same problem. Wifi loses connection after 5-ish minutes.
Wondering if it's an issue with the 802.11n drivers...? Seems a little more stable on the "g" networks.
This has been happening since the latest OS X update. I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro 15".

  • Impossible to connect the iMac in WiFi under Windows Vista

    Hi;
First I apologize for my bad english.
    Now, here is my problem.
My iMac 24" running under OS X 5.6 connects itself perfectly in WiFi to my CometLabs WRM42 ADSL router in Mac mode. But i'm not able to establish the same connexion in Windows Vista mode.
According to Windows troobleshooting, linking router and Mac with a cable permits the connexion to work and continue to work after pulling out the cable. But the connexion is not again possible without cable after a restart of the computer.
Many thanks to whom will give me the solution.

I suspect that you need to install/reinstall the correct network drivers.

  • Wifi not working under windows 8.1 with Bootcamp

Hi, I have installed windows 8.1 under bootcamp. it seems to work fine however the wifi connaction is not existing under windows. therefore i can only connect via ethernet. Anyone an idea how to solve it? Thx

    Hey there,
I don't know if it's still interesting for you, but I've had the exact same issues. The only solution, as far as there is no official change from Apple, you can install Windows 8.0 via Bootcamp with official drivers for Bootcamp (wifi works great) and then install the upgrade to 8.1 as Windows still uses the former installed drivers from Win 8 on 8.1 as well.
Hope that helped, 8.1 runs even better on my MB Air than Mac OS 10.9 :/

  • How can I get a better driver for my 1394b Hostcontroller in my Macbook pro 2010 to solve the problem, that it is too slow under Windows 7 installed with bootcamp ?

How can I get a better driver for my 1394b Hostcontroller in my Macbook pro 2010 to solve the problem, that it is too slow under Windows 7 installed with bootcamp ?
WIndows can't find a better one than the installed LSI Conformed 1394 Hostcontroller

Read and follow the Bootcamp Installation instructions that you were offered to view when you ran Bootcamp Assistant.
Run Bootcamp Assistant again and select the option to download the Bootcamp Support software. Follow the instructions. Then boot into Windows and install the Windows Support software you downloaded and saved.

  • Mac doesn't boot after splitting BOOTCAMP drive under Windows 8.1

Macbook pro mid 2012, OS X Mavericks
I've installed Windows 8.1 x64 using Bootcamp assistant. In Windows I went to Disk Management and shrank drive C: from 200 GB to 94 GB and created a new drive D: from unallocated space.
After restart Windows doesn't boot giving some error and quickly restart. If I hold "Option" key I see only Windows. Mac OS X disappeared.
    How to fix?

So, I've tried 1001 ways to recover. Nothing worked. Interned Recovery gives -2002F error. Macbook pro 2012 can't boot from bootable DVD to use DiskWarrior, Drive Genius or similar. It can't boot from OS X Lion install DVD. I had only Windows PC to fix this. So
I asked a friend with latest Mavericks(which I had too) to make a Recovery USB and make a DMG file from it and send me over internet. Then I used the TransMac application under Windows and burned DMG on my USB stick. My god it worked. After 2 days of struggle I found this solution. I was able to boot from this USB stick into Recovery Mode and from there I can reinstall Mac Os X Mavericks. Somehow it sees my Ethernet cable and doesn't give error.
Note: that Disk Utility wasn't able to recover partitions. I tried to run DiskWarrior from terminal but it gave me an error. TestDisk didn't run too. So I'm doing a clean installation.
I could recover or backup my files using Paragon Mac Recovery Bootable DVD, but there was no need since it's my new macbook and I didn't have much files there.
Windows had changed the HD partition map from GUID Partition Table(GPD) to MBR. And made HD a "dynamic disk". This is why Mac Os wasn't able to boot.
If anyone knows how to convert a disk back to GPD and make Mac OS able to boot please let me know. I'm still installing Mac Os X on USB stick and didn't change my HD.

  • ACD as main display under Windows/BootCamp while in clamshell possible?

Is there any way to run a BootCamp Windows XP Pro installation on an MBP using the ACD as main display while in clamshell mode? Currently the system refuses to wake up after I close the lid. I use a BT mouse/KB, but even with a USB mouse connected it wouldn't wake up. It seems like it would be possible, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Correct, there was no Gather Windows button.
I do have multiple adapters, but one is an Apple adapter which is, apparently, "passive" whilst the other is active. The passive adapter never works at all under MacOS X, but I haven't tried it under Windows. The "active" adapter works under Windows, but only shows the apple bootup logo under MacOS X, and then turns the display off.
I don't think that the mini displayport is faulty, because the second display plugged into it works perfectly through BootCamp.
I'll try thoroughly testing out all adapters tonight, and then try a different brand of display. I've seen a lot of posts about ViewSonics being flakey under MacOS X, so it's possible it could be on the display driver side of things. Maybe ViewSonic does something screwy signal-wise in their displays, and Windows is willing to deal with it but MacOS X isn't.
Oddly enough, the ViewSonic display I have was shipped with a single-link DVI cable, and it's always worked without a problem, even when plugged into the dual-link DVI port on the Mac Pro. So I don't believe that the display *itself* requires a complete dual-link connection to the computer.
I have much appreciation for all the help and suggestions. Thanks again.

  • Slow wireless under windows XP bootcamp! help!

    Hello everyone,
I bought my first Mac (MacBook Pro) less than a month ago.
I have a problem with my wireless connection under Windows XP (Bootcamp 2.1).
It works, but is painfully slow (500 kbps in download, 100 kbps in upload according to speakeasy test). Instead, wireless works perfectly fine in Leopard (more than 10X faster).
My router is a Netgear WGR613VAL and other Windows computers have no problems with it.
My wired connections are OK. I suppose it is a driver problem?
I have read the forums and I have tried a couple of things, like installing the Broadcom drivers BCMREL_4_100_15_5WHQL and using Tweak Test + Dr TCP, without any improvement.
I'll be grateful for any suggestion.
Which is the best way to contact Apple about this issue? Anyone did it? Would it be useful?
    Thanks

You are right in assuming it is a driver problem. Open the Device Manage and Right Click the hardware (network / wireless adapter) to see the date of the driver. Apple's updated drivers should in theory have the latest:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/bootcampupdate21 forwindowsxp.html
Further bottlenecks to your connection speed would include software firewalls, antivirus, adware or viruses running in the background. I think you have already established the hardware is not an issue. When I had Tiger and BC Beta my Windows connection was slower than OS X. I upgraded to Leopard and the Airport Extreme card kicked in in XP no problem. XP cannot be the issue. Try the WIndows wireless out on any other wireless signals (friends, workplace, library). If it works great elsewhere you might want to work with your Netgear install disk a little or even switch to Airport Express.

  • Under FF 5, my wife's Windows 7 laptop will run Yahoo toolbar, but my Vista won't...WHY??

Just downloaded FF 5 on both my wife's Windows 7 and my Vista machines. FF 5 allows Yahoo toolbar to run under 7, but not under Vista. Any particular reason? or fix??

You don't have to wipe anything, but when you get a chance make sure you backed up to icloud.
What that means is your contacts inside of the phone either physically or liquid damaged. To check
which, you can look inside and if you see a little pink, that would give you a water damage. If you don't
see pink it means that you to many times plugged in that charger the other way or tried to. May be
used some other things to plug in. If you flash the light in you may be able to see those contacts.
If I were you, i would not believe me, good luck!

  • HT3492 mini displayport to vga adapter not working under windows 7

i've read the article above. How can this firmware affect operation under Windows 7 OS? I have a dual boot system and tested several mini dp-vga adapter, all of them seem to either stop working after a while or doesnt work at all. i have a macbook pro 13"(early 2011) and a macmini i5 4gb

I'm having the same problem. When I try to connect to the switch in our conference room (connecting both a flat panel display and/or a projector, both with much higher native resolutions), all I get is 640x480. This is a huge problem to using bootcamp, and I really need to get this to work. I was able to get a higher resolution 1280x800 on a separate, portable display, so I'm wondering if people have the problem with standalone projectors or only with projectors connected to some sort of switch, in my case an Extron MPX423A. I have also tried this in both Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 RC1 (32-bit), with the bootcamp drivers and the latest NVidia drivers, and the behavior is the same all around.

  • Mini-DVI not supported under Windows XP?

    Hi all,
I recently picked up a mini-DVI to VGA adapter and a 17" LCD from Lenovo (IBM). Under OSX, the dual displays works wonderfully well and easy. The OS picked it up right away and ran with it.
Under Windows XP, however, no such luck. The display will mirror the iMac during the Windows boot-up process and then go black once XP is booted. The monitor claims nothing is attached to it.
Windows will play the "ding-ding" sound whenever I unplug or plug the adapter and even claims to see the monitor via the Display settings panel.
Google told me several people have voiced this complaint while logged into Windows on their Intel machines. Does anyone here know of a fix or workaround? Thanks!

Any ideas? I am having the exact same problem. The funny thing is when I boot in XP the windows logo is displayed on my external monitor. But then disapears. I will try and update the ATI monitor drivers, and see if there is a bootcamp update. But anyone with info please let me know!!
    thanks

  • Error 2048 under Windows 7 64bit when opening DNxHD .mov

    Hi people,
i'm experiencing a weird problem while trying to open a DNxHD encoded .mov file with quicktimeplayer under windows 7 64 bit.
getting the error 2048: "Couldn't open the file  because it's not a file that QuickTime understands."
filesize is 5,6 GB and im running Quicktime 7.7.5, the file was encoded using avid media composer.
Other (smaller, around 2GB) files from the same source and using the same codec will play back fine!
This file is running fine on my macbook (10.8.5), but will fail to play under windows 7 bootcamp or on my PC.
I've read about filesize-limits around 4 GB, is there some truth to that?
    thanks for your help
EDIT: i need to be able to play back the file with quicktime-components (not vlc or something like that)  because im working with protools, which is using quicktime for video-playback.

    Thanks for your reply nyc.
But the code i copied is in fact an extract of the USBDescriptors.c present in this directory.
If I try to execute this example, the result is the same.

  • Built-in microphone not working (or extremely silent) under Windows XP

The built-in microphone works great on my iMac under OS X 10.6.
However, it does not seem to work under Windows XP, using BootCamp. Is there any way to fix it?

    Hi again, Hariharan
If you right-click on the first selection in the image (the microphone) and select Properties, you should be able to see the driver in formation on the Driver tab in the new window. Can you list the driver Provider, Date, and Version? Also, how long have you had the machine, and how long was the microphone working properly before this issue began?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

  • MacBook Pro 1,1 will not wake up under Windows XP

I have an "old" macbook pro 1,1 (one of the first Intels) with ATI Radeon X1600 128MB and I am having trouble with it waking from sleep under Windows XP bootcamp.
This is a similar problem as in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2306325&tstart=1
I have seen that there is a similar problem with iMacs which may have been solved by updating the EFI firmware to 1.4
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3561
"Update addresses issues where iMac computers with ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics intermittently stop responding and addresses wake-from-sleep issues in Boot Camp"
The problem is that my macbook pro is version 1,1 and the latest EFI firmware for updating is 1.2. as seen here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
    1. Can I install a firmware which is higher than 1.2 with my mac?
    2. Is there anything else I can do to solve this problem?
    3. Would updating the ATI Radeon x1600 graphics drivers help?
    Please Help!

    Hey there,
i know it is an old Thread but i had the same Problem a few Moments ago. Don't know if it helps everyone but i just moved the 3 .AEX files from the Pluginfolder to another Place. This solves the Start-Up Problem. Rename is not an Option because Premiere finds the renamed files. But if you move them in another Folder Premiere 1.5 starts (compatibility set to XP SP2)
BUT: I dont know which effects this will cause inside the Program. I just wanted to export an existing Project again. Start-up, loading the Projectfile and loading the original clips and pictures works. So far the export seems to work too.
    regards
Edit: Sorry about the capital letters. I am German

  • Macbook pro (early 2008): Trackpad not working under Windows XP

My Trackpad worked regularly under Windows (Bootcamp) and Mac OSx until some months ago my Motherboard had to be exchanged because of a fault function of the graphics card. When I started Macintosh after the Macbook pro was repaired the Trackpad worked regularly, but under windows the mouse didn't react to moving the finger or clicking. I reinstalled the drivers, but this didn't fix the problem.
What shall i do now? Thank you for any advices.

since my mac is year and two months old (funny, two months and you are screwed).
Not if you had of purchased Apple Care.  You would have been covered for 3 years.
