Bootcamp Not Install Xp. Restarts and Ejects disk???

Hi,
I have an Alu 24" imac running Snow Leopard and using Bootcamp 3.x
I had a previous Windows Xp bootcamp partition but it was getting a bit small and i felt a nice clean install would do it some good as well.
So i opened Bootcamp Assistant, deleted the old partition and ran a disk permission on my mac drive just to get the yin and yang all back together.
I created a new Bootcamp partition (Bootcamp icon appears on desktop, etc) made it 105gb and popped in my WinXp sp2 disk. I then hit Start Installation. My mac restarts, takes a while on the white screen ejects my disk and then loads my log in to mac os x. I tried again. Bootcamp, start install, it restarts, takes a while then ejects and takes me to the mac log in. So i restarted again and held down alt. Only the mac drive pops up, no other option to boot into even with the cd popped in.
Any ideas? It's the same cd i used for the first bootcamp partition i had, i've also tried my win7 cd that i used in parallels file and the same thing happens?
Thanks in advance,
Tara

I got mine to work
I'll tell you what i did in case it helps fix yours as well but i don't know if this is an actual solution or just worked for me but here goes.
I finally decided to create another version of the dvd i had which was an orginal win7 downloaded from my school's MSDN account.
I popped in the dvd which mac os x mounted fine and opened it up - bunch of files and folders as it's supposed to have.
I opened Disk Utilities, highlighted the dvd in the left side and hit create new image. When that was done my new image file name appeared on the left also, I clicked it then hit burn, put in a new blank cd and let it go. When that was done i ran the Bootcamp Assistant an hit start installation. It restarted and loaded up the WIN7 boot cd.
So i reckon i just needed to stroke my mac's ego a little. Yes, mac you did all the work, you even created the cd, good boy, now load it, yes well done
I hope that helps someone else, if not good luck on finding a solution that works for you to

You have the current version of Java installed 1.6.020 (includes Java Console 6.0.20)
You will need to manually remove those old Java Console Extensions because Java did not clean up after itself when it updated some time ago.
In Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, post a reply with the exact Java Console version numbter; like "Java Consol 6.0.20".
Then we can tell you exactly what folders you need to manually delete off your system.
OR, have a look at this ("Multiple Java Console extensions") and you may be able to determine that for yourself: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions

Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • HT6114 OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 Update will not install after restart

My iMac continues to say I need to restart in order to install 10.9.2 but after restart it freezes up on the restart and then I have to shut down with power button. It always restarts after power shut down but then continues to say it needs to be restarted in order for install. This as been going on for weeks. I contacted Apple support - they want me to pay $ 19.99 so they can tell me how to fix their update! This is the first dissatisfied call to Apple I have had, hope it's not a trend!

I suggest you backup your data to an external drive as a clone. If your drive has issues you want to be sure your data is safely backed up.
Both of these applications are free to clone. You will need to purchase an external drive.

If the Safe boot fails to help, I would boot into the Recovery Drive and run Repair Drive using Disk Utility. You cannot repair your drive while you are booted from the drive.
If this still fails, boot back into the Recovery Drive and re-install Mavericks.

  • DVD studio pro won't finish and eject disk

I have been having a problen with dvdsp. it will write the disk and then it hangs up on writing lead out. I actually have to re start the computer to get the disk out. The disk plays but why will it not finish?

Last night I tried to just burn the video_ts file with toast and it did the same thing. I actually had to shut down the computer and restart to get the disk to stop and eject. Today I tried toast again but this time I slowed the burn speed to 8x (was at 16x, using mamorex 16x disks) and it worked. I don't know if the disks are crap or not. I have had good luck with them but I have only burned 160 of them and had probally 5 coasters which is good right? Is there a way to slow the speed down in dvdsp?

  • Itunes not Installed Properly, Repaired and no luck.

Hi. I haven't been able to create a CD for about 2 years now. I searched through these forums and found other ways of Repairing the Itunes program and have had no luck. I've repaired through downloading Itunes again, when Menu pops up, I choose to Repair ( too afraid to uninstall, and lose data). That finishes and I re-open Itunes, and still receive the same message ( Itunes not installed properly, you cannot burn/import a CD). I saw on a post on this forum about repairing it through my Windows Control Program ( Add / Remove) - did that, thought it worked out but did not. Do I need to restart my computer for changes to occur ? I also ran the itunes Diagnostics and these are my results.
Also, I see that it states I'm not the Adminstrator..... I am ?

  • Why is my Photoshop CS4 not installing both 64 and 32 bit versions?

    Hello,
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
I purchased and downloaded Photoshop CS4 Extended and it installed as a 64 bit program. Now I need a 32 bit version also (for some Nik plugins), but the installer didn't install the 32 bit version (it would be in Program Files (x86). It should have installed both as a default.
Also, I didn't change the default pathing as I know that can screw the install up.
I ran the install program again and it runs through the complete install without giving me the Options Panel to select which version 64 or 32 (or both) to install.
Should I completely uninstall PS and reinstall to see if I get the install Options Panel?  Other Ideas?
    Thanks!
    Chris

"it is not possible to just install the 32 bit version without an uninstall?"
It's a great idea, but I don't know how. I have the downloaded the PS CS4 file from Adobe that I used to originally install PS. I re-ran this install program and it reinstalled the same 64bit program that I already have; it never gave me any options as to which version to install.
I'm think I'll just have to de-activate, uninstall, reinstall to get the PS install Options Panel.

  • Livetype will not install after erasing and re-installing Tiger

    Hello,
I recently had to install a new hard drive, of which I partitioned, erased and installed OS X Tiger onto my PowerBook G4 15" (1.67/1.5 GHZ).
After all that, I tried re-installing FCP (5). The FCP part worked, but Livetype refused to be installed. So I searched for updates, and found an OSX Dual update, FCP update, and Livetype update, all of which were updated successfully. But Livetype will still not install for some reason.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Shawn

Sorry, should have been more articulate in my description.
During the installation of Livetype, after choosing the destination for livetype to be _Application support_ and starting the installation, the program goes up to 20% during the writing files procedure... and stops.
    Says Please try install again.

  • I downloaded Lion in October and it would not install because it said "the disk Mcintosh Hard drive is damaged and cannot be repaired" Any ideas?

I downloaded Lion from the APP store onto my imac (running Snow Leopard v. 10.6.8, 3.06 Ghz Intel Core i3, 4GB Memory with over 200GB of storage space, which I also Time machine back up to an external hard drive. I also run Office for the Mac 2008, ilife 08 and iworks 09) it downloaded but then wouldn't install as it said the hard drive was damaged and not able to be repaired.
I then called apple support who advised me to run disk repair/verification of disk, and no faults were found.
We also looked at the partition disk which apparently there was 2.
Finally we started in safe mode with the original disk (DVD) of Tiger (I couldn't find the original DVD that came with the imac which I bought in Nov 2010 - although I have now found this!) in the DVD driver and the whole hard drive crashed and was unresponsive.
So, I had to take it to apple store, wipe my HD. I then re-installed Lion and all my data from my external HD and tried again, and the whole thing happended again.
So I took it back to apple who re-installed Snow Leopard which I am now running with no problem at all.
I still wish to use Lion mainly because I also use Mobile me and so want to be able to sync my iphone and ipad to my imac beyond June 2012!!
Any suggestions about what this could be or how to avoid another 2 trips into Apple Store!

I'll guess that you're upgrading from Snow Leopard? You should be able to start using your original install dvd by inserting the disc and restarting while holding the C key. Run Disk Utility from your install disc  and try to repair the drive. Then try the upgrade again.

  • Leopard ok on MBP, but not on G5 - how to eject disk?

Having had a successful Leopard install on my MBP machine, I thought installation on my G5 twin processor would be a breeze - how wrong could I be? I've tried reinstalling (twice) and all I get is the dreaded blue screen on restarting. I can't even get back to install Tiger because I can't eject the Leopard disk - nothing seems to get rid of it. Any ideas?

OK, so back to the G5. I'm having similar issues with a quad G5. My (Intel) iMac installed flawlessly, and is running OK - no hiccups so far. But the G5 went into a tail spin. First time 'round it installed OK, but several of the applications wouldn't launch, or quit unexpectedly shortly after launch. It also seemed a bit slower than before and rather jumpy (Activity monitor was jumping all over the place). Not sure if there is an issue with Spotlight having to re-index everything and that's why we need to leave it alone for a day or so, or if there really are issues with some of the applications. The most frustrating to me is iTunes, because my iPhone is linked to this machine, and I can't update it.
I'll try booting from the install disk, repairing disc permissions, etc. and report back what I find. Meanwhile I have inadvertently started a second install of the OS (where are the utilities on the install disk anyway?) and am waiting for it to finish....

  • Bootcamp not installed

OK, help. I installed Snow Leopard when it first came out and there is no Bootcamp on my iMac. I looked in the install disk and there is no option to install Bootcamp. I upgraded to Lion and still no Bootcamp. Where am I going wrong? What do I do to fix it?

    rpduval wrote:
There are already a few threads about the download issue. Basically it says that there is nothing to download and I have to click OK. When I try to partition it says I need to move something and that my drive isn't journaled or some such (I'm not at home right now, can't check exact wording sorry).
For the second issue you need to clone your drive to an external and then put the clone back, you can also try booting from your OSX disk, running and running Repair Disk from Disk Utility.
The first problem requires patience, it works eventually.
